i remember feeling a little apprehensive when i started bsd... i wasn't too sure how i felt with the suicide jokes since it's a bit of a sensitive topic for me, given something that happened two years ago, but then again one does have to understand that the suicide culture in japan is very different from ours, and bsd was written for japanese audiences.... i'm almost 100% sure that suicide used to be considered an honorable act / it was socially acceptable at some point in time, and it may still be that way to a certain extent today ?? idk if i'm getting all these facts right, since it's a little late and i'm kind of tired. cx also the way they referred to people with abilities as "ability users" just was.. a little strange to me lmao. but !! all that aside, i really like how the mangaka is integrating some of the characters' irl counterparts' aspects into their personalities and backstories... and i'm enjoying how everything is playing out / has played out up to this point <33 i'm still waiting for dazai's backstory to be fleshed out a little more... i know they covered it in one of the light novels, but i can't really see the manga ending without dazai's past being brought up and talked about in the main story at least once or twice... even if it's just little bits and pieces....... or maybe i'm just thirsting for mafia!dazai really really hard. xD

i can't get enough of soukoku now..... it's destroying my sleep schedule but i honestly can't bring myself to care anymore lmao.....it's so sinful though omg....i keep fanning my face when i read soukoku fics, or when i'm drowning in the soukoku tag on tumblr smH

i mean, at first i was kind of like "do you even serve a purpose in this...?" bc she really didn't do much in the first few chapters... except try to capture atsushi and fail, try to shoot atsushi when he attacked akutagawa and still fail bc he has a bulletproof pelt, and then call the black lizard on the agency,,,and that raid also failed (rip them honestly... i'm surprised no one broke their necks since they were tossed out of a window on the fourth floor omg [anime logic, i guess??]). it wasn't until she got her own chapter that i really started to like her... now i want her as my waifu... or my friend, and i like how she's pretty similar to her rl counterpart. and her unwavering loyalty to akutagawa and her tenacity is admirable (i'm also just glad that akutagawa has someone to look out for him,,, with his past, i think he needs some stability / constant in his life, and imo higuchi fits that role pretty well)...and i definitely don't mean to sound overly-pessimistic or anything, but i believe it's not that easy to find people who display that level of devotion to someone or something irl. aaa but anyway, in conclusion she's cute and funny, and she's definitely someone i'd want on my side <33

lucy's one of the first guild members to show up, so hopefully she'll come in soon......i think i'd be at the very end of the first season, or at the beginning of season two which i think is scheduled to air this fall ?? from what i remember, she comes in with fitzgerald when he tries to buy the detective agency / asks fukuzawa for his ability permit, or whatever it was.

oh, i feel the same way. suicide is definitely a bit of a touchy subject for me, so i can find it offensive when it's made light of, depending on my mood. if i'm feeling down, then chances are i'll rip someone's head off for making fun of something like that. sometimes i find the suicide jokes in bungou stray dogs funny, other times i kind of feel like i'm done with them, if you get what i mean? i get that it's a running gag, but hngh. but you're right about the honorable suicide matter, i believe! i know for a fact that in war suicide was considered a more honorable death than being killed by the enemy. i'm not sure whether or not it's still deemed so, but from what i hear japan has a pretty high suicide rate. it's actually kind of sad :/
+ i really love how they're named after writers, it's honestly just cool?? and like you, i like how the mangaka incorporates bits and pieces of their namesakes into their personalities, i think it's nicely thought out. i want to know more about all of their backstories, i honestly think it's important to incorporate those somewhere along the way to help the reader/watcher understand the characters.

we had a similar incident with a spillage of soup in the bus on the way to camp back when i was in school. everyone thought someone had been sick so they were all freaking out. they didn't know it was just soup lmao. and whenever the bus went on a slope, it would trickle forwards or backwards and the rush to pick up bags off the ground and lift up our legs was hilarious omf

yep! it was a bit of a disaster and not quite so funny at the time, but i find it hilarious now. tbh, it was probably the best part of the whole camp, since the rest of it involved all of my friends being put in one group and me being put in a different one and then the instructors trying to force me down cliffs even though i'm uneasy about heights and then hiking for six hours another day :^)
