great summer away
[i]THE INTRODUCTION
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 500px; line-height: 12px; text-align: justify; font-size: 12px; overflow: auto; height: 100px]It's summer and the Harris Beach House has been the hottest and most popular summer getaway ever since it opened a few years ago. Everyone wants to spend their summer there but it isn't cheap and bookings go fast. After spending the past year saving up for it, a group of four girls have decided to go and have booked the beach house. They rock up excited, giggling about their plans for the summer - new clothes were brought for their time away and wide grins are seen on faces. Until they see a group of four boys already there, claiming that they have booked the beach house. After ringing the owners of the beach house, both parties are appalled to find that none of them seemed to have read the fine print. Two groups of four are always booked in at the house at the same time, which means the girls can either leave or stick around with the boys. But they've already paid for their time in the house and it's nonrefundable so they decide to stick around. Over their time in the holiday house rivalries and relationships will blossom and bloom. Can the two groups survive a summer together?[/fancypost]
THE SETTING

The [u]Hariss Beach House is a luxury house filled with eight bedrooms (one for each person) which all look something like [u]this with varying colour schemes. There are a total of four [u]bathrooms, the spa bath accounting for those too tall for a regular bath. Or room for two. Whichever tickles the fancy. Each bathroom has a toilet in a separate room beside it. There is a large [u]main living room, which plays host to the only TV in the house so it's a challenge to decide what is seen on the TV and when. There are of course one or two smaller lounges, just none of them have a TV. There is one [u]kitchen which also has bench seating and a small table off to the side but there's a combined [u]dining room and lounge which will host most of the meals as it has enough seats for everyone. The house has a decent [u]indoor swimming pool but has a much larger [u]outdoor pool and spa. The house is of course right by the [u]beach and there's a path which can be followed from the back of the house down to it. The guests are dropped off at the house by staff but once there the house is their's to maintain, although they are supplied with a few cars. A five minute drive - which is about a half hour walk, less if you walk quickly - will take you into the town of [u]Newwyn. The town has various shops and attractions, a few of which including a [u]supermarket, [u]restaurants and cafes, [u]drive in theater and many shops lining the streets. The town also has a raging nightlife for party-goers which quite often includes beach parties for the public.[/fancypost]
MATILDA VALERIE RYCE
"YES I'M FROM AUSTRALIA. NO, I DIDN'T RIDE A KANGAROO TO SCHOOL."
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 500px; line-height: 12px; text-align: justify; font-size: 12px;][b]Full name: Matilda Valerie Ryce
Nickname(s): Tilly or Tilda
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Age: 18
D.O.B: December 15th, 1997
Personality: If there is one thing our dear Matilda is known for then it is being incredibly fun. Although no one really calls her Matilda for starters, nearly everyone - apart from her parents - call her Tilly, sometimes even Tilda. Anyhow, fun is the word most people use to describe her for she is incredibly outgoing and social. She's the sort of girl who does enough talking for two people, isn't afraid to introduce herself to strangers or even make the first move with others. It helps that she's also quite charismatic and she's the sort of bubbly and bright girl that people find it easy to be around and be with. Within her wide circle of friends she's known for being the party animal, the girl who's very often the life of the party. She very rarely turns down an invitation when it comes her way and has hosted a party or two of her own before. But the main reason she's explained as fun is merely because she can make the most boring of things into something a little more fun and exciting. Sorting out clothes to go to the Op Shop? More like call some friends and have a mini "fashion show" and bag up anything not worthy of being on their little runway. People also seem to like her for her profound Australian accent, though.
Despite being a bit of a party animal, she is by no means stupid or even dim. She is a classic blonde though in the sense that she's quite gullible and naive and it's easy to get a good laugh out of some of the clueless things which leave her mouth. But she grew up with Christian Ryce and Elenour Watts so being anything less that a straight A student was never a possibility. Her parents loaded her with pressure to do well from the beginning and her determination to keep them pleased means she also puts a lot of pressure on herself. She tries her best to be good at everything she does, to be the best of the best in anything she tries. This has led to her becoming sort of reckless as her competitiveness has gotten her into sticky situations. Like that one time she was determined not to get beaten in a game of truth or dare and a friend of hers (who was also her cousin), Adam, had dared her to jump off a small cliff and into the ocean below back in their home town, thinking that she would never do it. But she did. It ended up with her almost getting smashed to death on the rocks due to the sheer force of the waves coming at her but Tilly's proud to say that fifteen years worth of swimming lessons got her out of that one with only a few scrapes, cuts and bruises. Needless to say she hasn't been beaten at truth or dare. Yet.
Tilly is also a feminist and quite proud to identify as one. She believes in equal rights for everyone and isn't afraid to call someone out for talking * or being sexist. In fact if you're not willing to treat her as an equal then you may as well turn around and walk out of her life of your own free will. Otherwise she'll give you a forceful shove towards the door - plus she'll probably hit you with it on your way out. It's needless to say that she is extremely passionate and she has a fiery temper to go with it. Despite how social and friendly it is, it's easy to rile her up and get her going - some people even push her buttons just for fun but it isn't a good idea unless you're close enough to know that she won't hate you for it.
Another thing to know about her is that she is extremely protective of those close to her, some even refer to her as motherly in this sense. Her younger siblings, Jaime and Juliette, are people she would protect with her life - as she would just about any of her friends. Despite the temptation to let loose and go wild at parties with her friends, it's a well kept secret that she switches to fruit juice or soda water after a few rounds. This is merely so she can stay sane and clear headed enough to look after her friends should they need it. Plus if it came down to it she could drive without crashing or fight away an attacker if she were to be attacked.
Some refer to Tilly as slightly attention seeking but deep down she's the same as a lot of others - messed up and hiding it all behind a megawatt smile and an outgoing personality.
Appearance: Matilda looks so much like her mother that it is hard to believe she is even her father's daughter. Due to her parents being divorced, Tilly spends a week each month with her mum but spends the three remaining ones with her father, Christian, and his wife, her step-mum Katherine. Christian is a tall and broud shouldered man with short and straight black hair with naturally quite golden coloured skin. Her younger siblings Jaime and Juliette look just like him, but Tilly couldn't look more different.
Instead of her dad's broad shouldered and thick build she has inherited her mother's figure and frame. Tilly isn't tall like her dad and siblings, instead she is of slightly average height, most of her friends being taller than her which actually puts her on the shorter side of things. She was born with a naturally very athletic and sporty look which is only helped more by the fact that she is a very sporty person. Tilly did swimming lessons from when she was a few months old up until she was fifteen and by thirteen she'd began competitive swimming in her school's swim team. She is a naturally good runner and it's probably her favourite sport or even past time, this gives her quite shapely legs. A tennis player in the summer months this has given Tilly a reasonable amount of upper body strength although this strength is something you don't notice just by looking at her for she isn't the broad shouldered sort. During the winter months she takes up field hockey, a sport her father got her into when she was eight. Christian also has very golden looking skin which is permanently and quite naturally that dark tan colour. Tilly is by no means pale but she is paler than her father and siblings and her tan is instead one earnt from many hours out in the sun, not one she was given at birth.
Her father has glossy black hair which is actually dead straight. Matilda's hair couldn't be more different and it's something she most certainly got from her mother. Her hair falls down to a few inches below her shoulders and instead of black it's a nice blonde, a colour which is often quite light in the summer due to the amount of sunlight it gets. It goes without saying that her hair isn't straight either. Tilly's hair falls in the same waves and curls that her mother's does. This gives her an effortlessly beachy and tousled look though and she very often can just leave her hair in its natural state without even needing to brush it - something she is immensly thankful for. Hiding under that blonde hair of hers are a set of eyes which are most certainly not her father's dark ones. Yep, you guessed it. Tilly's eyes are the same bright blue that her mother's are.
History: Tilly was, unsurprisingly due to the accent, born in Australia to Christian Ryce and Elenour Watts who, at the time, was Elenour Ryce. From when she was a couple of months old onwards her parents had her doing swimming lessons and it was clear even to strangers that they wanted their daughter to grow up to be the perfect little lady they believed she was destined to be. Even in primary school she was pushed to do well in everything she attempted. Tilly was the sole victim of their pressure and pride until she was seven and her parents had twins, Jaime and Juliette.
During this time a lot of her parent's attention left her and was given to her younger siblings and although Tilly loved them dearly she became envious of the way their parents dotted over them but now ignored her. So she found herself believing that she wasn't good enough and that she had to do better and work harder to earn their attention - this is where her competitivity was born and nurtured. Or, well, not nurtured seeing as her parents spent most of their time with her twins. Over the next few years Christian and Elenour spent more and more time with the twins and their attention to Tilly was slowly going down the drain. So she kept her grades up, took up more sports and even thrust herself into extra-curriculum and after school activities. She began to see less and less of her parents as they busied thesmselves with the twins and work and she spent a lot of time with friends, studying or doing sports. For a few years her father began to take extended "business" trips overseas for weeks at a time.
Tilly was 13 and the twins were 6 when Elenour found out that Christian's "business" trips weren't business trips at all. He was having an affair with a Miss Katherine Hall and every time he went to America for business trips it was really to see her. This sent her mother spiralling into depression and for the next year Tilly tried hard to keep the peace between her parents. When she was 14 her parents officially divorced and Christian decided he was moving to America to live with Katherine. The kids stayed with Elenour who went back to her maiden name of Watts when their father moved overseas. A year later, when Tilly was 15 and the twins were 8, Christian came back to fight for custody of the kids. Due to the fact that he was now in a "stable relationship" and Elenour was undoubtedly depressed and in an unstable state of mind, he won without much stopping him. Thus Tilly and the twins were packed up and sent to live with Katherine and Christian in America. Much to her surprise she found Katherina had two children. The youngest was a girl Tilly's age who, surprisinly, she found herself becoming close friends with. The oldest, Blake, went off to college within a few weeks of them moving in and so Tilly never really became close to him.
Christian and Katherine were pretty well off money wise and when she was 16 they begun flying Tilly to Australia to be with her mother four the first week of each month, paying for her to get there and back. Despite Katherine being nice, Tilly despises her and blames her for the fact that her family was torn apart. Really though she blames herself, believing that she wasn't good enough and that she wasn't enough to keep her parents fighting for the love they'd once had. Her father was often asked if Tilly was even his daughter as even Mia looked more like him then Tilly did and they weren't even related by blood. Tilly and Christian, who were never close to begin with, drifted further and further apart. In a way, Tilly accepting the dare to jump off the cliff and into the ocean was half because she wanted him to notice her again and care about her. When she was sent into hospital after getting herself out of the water, despite the fact that she hadn't received any major injuries, Christian visited her once but wasn't caring or kind. He noticed her but he did so by yelling and telling her that she was way out of line and that if she ever pulled such a stunt again then she'd be sent straight to boarding school.
When she turned 17 she moved out ofher father's house and instead moved in with her older cousin Adam, 21, who had moved to America with his part of the family a few months before Christian and Elenour had broken up. Needless to say her father was somewhat relieved to have Tilly out of his house and she still keeps her grades up and tries her best at everything as it's something that seems to be ingrained into her. Now she's 18 and is smart, fun, friendly and passionate and is off to the Hariss Beach House with three of her closest friends after spending a year saving up so she could pay her part of the cost.
