Emmet laid on his back, eyes trained on the sky. He could see his own breath in the cold night air but he didn't really mind all that much; he was a wolf, the gentle cold of the abandoned city couldn't do that much to him.
He squinted, trying to make out constellations and failing; he was never that good at it anyways, but it was still fun to try.

  • The white and pick fox slunk forward, pushing up his glasses as he watched his father. "Staring at the stars? Strange. I found them bland and boring, because most of them are gone already. The light just takes years to reach us. Why care about such a thing." He said, looking up to see the stars for himself. "I'll rise above it all."

"Its calming to look at the light of dead stars." Emmet murmured, his other soul butting in to add a hint of sarcasm to the sentence. He didn't bother trying to respond to Szayel's claim to 'rise above it all'; after all, why would you want to become more powerful then stars? Everything would become bland and boring then with no barriers in your way.

  • Szayel grunted, looking at them grimly. "Your right I suppose. Dead things are very calming to look at aren't they? No resistance, no objection to the tests that serve a greater purpose than they're life did."

Emmet went silent, not certain just how to respond to that; was this a result of his parenting? Probably, having two souls made him a very volatile dad. He waited a few minutes before speaking again, choosing his words carefully during that time. "Your, erm, experiments; you aren't doing anything too-" Horrible? Strange? "-Unethical, right?"

  • Szayel didn't act as if he had heard Emmet for a while, then pushed up his glasses. "Unethical?Ethics themselves are made up, serving as an excuse for trying to make things seem worse than they are. It's what keeps people contained. That's what I don't want. Containment. A scientist should b free to do whatever he needs to improve upon what he has to work on. That's why we are seen as mad, evil, or sometimes beyond normal. However, I plan to make them realize just how right they are. To make myself so far beyond them they'll fall at the mention of my name. Perfection is what I strive for. A perfect being who cannot be stopped, that is immortal. Ethics is just a pebble threatening to prick me with it's lies. So, to answer your question, I do sometimes do things like that. Most are already dead to begin with however." He explained, claws out and face alight. He would reach that level...one day.

Well that answered his question; his son was slightly insane. [color=black][i]Nice. His other soul butted in, but he didn't answer them. "Oh." He mumbled, wishing he could just teleport away; was that another sign of bad parenting? Probably. "Erm, what sort of 'perfection' are you trying for?" He asked, deciding not to get into a fight about "ethics"; the last thing he wanted was to get into a brawl with his own son.

  • He smiled. "Isn't it obvious? I become immortal. You can be the strongest and become trapped until you die of old age. You can be the smartest and be beaten because you cannot fight. The only way to prevent it would be to become immortal. In such a way, you can never lose. You have all the time in the world to do anything you want." He said, smiling. "I will become the greatest. I will be like a God!" He was ambitious, that's for sure.

Immortality; never a fun thing. His soul was immortal, or at least had a very long lifespan; though that meant he'd get reincarnated rather then keeping the same body. "Mortals trying to become gods never ends well." He commented, thinking back to when he'd had a particularly ambitious brother; one of the other Servant-gods sent him on a suicide mission promising him immortality if he succeeded, and that ended with Lèi watching him trip and fall into a volcano; he'd been a virgin as well, which made everyone sad they hadn't just gone and pushed him in for kicks.

  • Szayel snickered."I'm a scientist. I was born to break the old rules and establish new ones. This also means I can go past the previous barriers I placed. I can obtain perfection this way, and I will become immortal. Then, I can use my life span to eternally research and advance until I can bring back the dead." The fox mused, a smile creeping upon his maw. He truly believe he was the greatest already, so why not show how far above them he was?

Bringing back the dead; a very tempting thought, especially when he thought about Vanny and Addy and all the other people that'd died before their times. "I just don't want you to get hurt." He murmured; call him sentimental but he really liked having a family, but if Szayel's research worked.. He shouldn't think about that.

  • Szayel pushed up his glasses, confident. "It won't matter. If I'm immortal then things like that will be long forgotten, and no thing could ever weigh me down forever. Like I said, perfect." He explained. For a two moon old fox, he definitely acted beyond his age.
