  • Madeline's gaze finally lifted and her eyes shifted between the two nervously. Finally being able to do something other than cleaning excited her even if it meant she would have to be close to the princess. She dared not to speak willing them to allow her to do so. Maybe this would get her one step closer to seeing her brother again.

  • Taking a deep breath before speaking she looked at each girl in turn. "Carolyn this is no time for you to be out running about without someone there. You can hold your own in a fight I know. But, you if you were to be recognized than you would be gutted by a mob. I am not asking you to take an escort I am issuing this as your punishment for sneaking off." She said her voice having a clear edge. Turning back to look at the theif she raised an eyebrow. "Are you loyal to the Crown?" She asked her green eyes meeting the girl's. She wanted the truth. Not lies or fluff.

  • Madeline thought for a moment before bowing. "Yes I am loyal to the crown." She said knowing in her heart it was truly true. She never would have stolen if she had money of her own for food. Her brother however she was unsure of for his hatred for the palace ran deep.

  • The wagon stopped, suddenly. John stood up and hopped off, and could see Peregrine ahead. Well, what was left of Peregrine. There was smoke filling the sky, many of the buildings on fire or turned to ash. There were no people or corpses littering the street. But then suddenly some soldiers came around the corner, and he realized why the wagon had stopped. The driver had been shot by an arrow. John quickly mounted one of the horses and detached it from the wagon, turning it around even as the soldiers marched towards him. He saw the banner they held up as he left, they were of a different kingdom. He rode quickly, his legs hurting due to having no saddle on the horse's back.

    (Time for some conflict!)

  • The Queen nodded although simply taking her word for it would not be good enough. "And how can I be sure?" She asked, Nina would need to be absolutely sure if she were to completely agree to this plan that her husband had come up with.

  • Madeline was unsure how to answer. "I will do anything you ask of me, give me a task and I will do it." She states honestly hoping the queen will believe her.

  • A smile appeared on her face. "Thank you Madeline." She said and picked up an apple from a near by bowl. Throwing it up in the air a couple times she walked over to her and gently placed an apple on the girl's head. "Stand perfectly still." She said and backed away pulling a dagger that she always carried on her belt. She held it focusing squarely on the apple. "Do you trust me not to cut you?" She asked raising a brow. Even though she had been a perfect little lady she had also taking to knowing how to fight a bit and always had almost perfect aim.

  • Madeline's eyes widened, she was not expecting this. She felt fear flow through her body but she knew the only choice she had was not to move. "Okay..." She said her voice breaking ever so slightly. She eyed the arrow nervously attempting not to shake.

  • John rode hard and fast, an arrow thudding into the ground next to the horse. Suddenly one struck in it's hind leg, John jumping and rolling to avoid the animal crushing him. His bow snapped as he rolled, there goes my only weapon, he though as he kept going. He hurried into the trees, ducking around them as he tried to escape from these foreign soldiers.

  • Laughing the Queen held the hilt of her dagger. "If you flinch you'll prove that you could not stand up to even the slightest threat." With one swift throw the dagger pierced perfectly through the center of the apple and it fell to the ground with a thud.

  • Madeline somehow managed to keep herself from flinching as the knife flee toward her head and hit the apple in the middle before falling from her head.

    OCC Low muse.

  • The Queen picked up the apple and knife. Prying out the knife she smiled. That was a good first test. Of course this wouldn't be the only one. "Very good. Although an old woman with a dagger isn't the most dangerous thing that could happen." Putting the dagger back on her belt she glanced towards her husband. "Do not think you are off the hook yet Your Grace." She said a sly smile on her face as she walked around the girl. "Do you have any experience with weapons?"

  • OOC: The only thing that has really happened is that John became a noble once more and went to his palace, but there is some foreign kingdom chasing him. Then, the king and queen are seeing if Madeline would be a good escort for Carolyn.

  • Madeline glad that living on the streets taught her to use quite a few things she smiled. "I can use a sword, an arrow and have decent aim with knives, though that could use work she admits." A smile crosses her face as she looks at the queen.

Ash charges the knight tackling him to the ground using his anger to give him strength. He pins the man. "This is for my sister!" He snaps grabbing a fairly large rock not far away and holding it above the mans hand. He brings it down fast towards the mans head.

  • (The people from the different kingdom aren't in a cart, and aren't in the village outside the king's castle. They're chasing John through the woods outside Castle Peregrine, a castle a good distance away from the king's, on foot.)

  • "Knives are as much a woman's weapon as poison. Easy to conceal and draw." She nodded, maybe this girl could work out alright. If they could get Carolyn to agree to it of course. That was the biggest part was getting her to do it even if it was to put an old woman's mind at ease.
