  • "Some things are just harder to let go of."

    >Intro<
I stood behind the counter of the small dinner all dressed up as the waitress. My caramel hair was up in a neat bun, my red shirt and black slacks were accented with a crisp white apron tied around my slim waist, and my name tag was pinned just to the left of the buttons on my shirt. My short heels clicked on the tile floor as I walked, though not very loudly.

This was the place I had been working at for four years. I have worked hard to keep my place here since I desperately needed the money. However, this place also brought back bitter-sweet memories for me. Though now, I hardly find time to cry on them anymore. I look over and see the small, four year old girl that was sitting in the booth nearby. All those memories were now wrapped in a small, shy bundle that was the joy of my life. Yet, she was still a secret from the one man that I needed here the most.

    >Backstory<
Brooklyn Hayes is a young woman of twenty-two. When she was sixteen, she had met the man she thought she would always be with. They spent high school and almost all their time together, meeting at the small cafe the most, where she now worked. She would always say how much she loved him, however everything changed on one night.

Brook had just received news that rocked her world, and she had rushed to her boyfriend's house to let him know. However, upon arriving, he gave her the news that he planned to enlist in the military. She began to panic. She tried to talk him out of going since she didn't want him to leave, but it all just ended up in a huge fight. He wanted to go, but she was very much against it.

She left his house with tears streaming, rushing home once again. She hadn't had time to tell him her news. She figured she'd let him cool off before telling him, planning on letting him know in the morning. However, once morning came, she found out he had already left, bags and all. He had left behind his town, family, and her, all without knowing Brook was pregnant with his child.

    >Plot<
Your character is the man in this story. As stated, he did leave for the military and has no knowledge of his child. However, he has returned after four years of being gone, trying to settle into his life in town again. You can decide why he is sent home, and what experiences he may or may not have had. There has been no communication with Brook in the past few years, so he has no idea where or how she might be.

Upon meeting him again, Brook is very surprised, and hesitant on drawing close to him again. She has never lost any feelings towards him in all this time, yet she doesn't know if he feels the same towards her. Either way, she afraid of what his reaction may be towards their child, and whether or not he might leave her again. There is also someone behind the scenes who is trying to steal Brook's heart.

Written Description;; Ryan Ian Holt is an attractive and rugged guy with dirty blonde to light brown hair and tanned skin. He has bright green eyes that contrast perfectly with the rest of his features. He stands at a height of 6'2" and weighs in at about 182 lbs. He loves a good challenge, no matter what it is, and pushes the limit on several occasions. This causes a great deal of stress for those who are close to him, and he doesn't learn. Although he pushes the limits, he can control himself in situations in which he knows there is tension or fear. He is very protective and takes a lot of things as a threat. You could say that he gets paranoid slightly, but it isn't quite that bad. If he cares about someone, he will do anything for them, but that doesn't mean he doesn't do things that benefit himself (like going to the military. He went because he felt as though he needed purpose). The man tends to have a good sense of humor, and uses that to play off any embarrassment or uncomfortable situations. (Sorry if it's kind of crappy. I'm not all that good with personalities.)

Roleplay Sample;; Klari stared at them all, forcing to keep an even expression on her face. She forgot how different they all were. Slightly startled at the sudden drink in front of her, she gingerly took it. She stared at it for a few seconds, not able to drink on the job. However, with this crowd, she may need it. "Oh-Er-Thanks," She stuttered, scratching the back of her neck.

She looked each one over, remembering how different the experience at each job was. However, they all had the same outcome which was her running away. Whether it be from new opportunities or just fear of commitment, she didn't know. So many thoughts were going through her head and she frantically tried to get her head of straight. It felt like the world was spinning.

"I see..." Klari murmured, referring to them already seeing their room. She pursed her pink lips slightly, blue green eyes raising up from her full glass to look at everyone. She wondered if they all knew about how terrible she had been... This much she could admit. She had been selfish, but they didn't understand that it was to keep a roof over her head. "Is there anything else I can do to help any of you today? Is the room... Satisfactory," She said, pausing to piece together to rest of her spiel. She thought this job was going to be easy!

The pretty blond forced a small smile onto her pretty face, facing danger without an ounce of fear. At least, that's how it looked on the outside. In her eyes, the room was still spinning. Maybe she did need that drink... No, do not give in! Any one of them could easily tell her boss and get some kind of revenge. Revenge. This is what this must be. Some kind of sick trick to make her cave. Well, she wouldn't give in! No! Klarissa Marie Barnes would hold her own!

  • Alright

Caramel brown hair tied back, red shirt and black pants crisp, and a white apron tied around her slim waist. Brook's brown gaze was down as she cleaned the counter of the cafe once more today. It was slow right now with not many customers coming in.

She glanced over at an empty booth nearby, a small smile playing on her lips. Usually a small girl would be sitting there coloring all she wanted. Today, however, her grandma had offered to watch her.

Brook sighed a bit. She didn't want to have to drag little Leah everywhere she went, but right now money was too tight to do anything else. Between taking care of Leah's needs and online college, not to mention looking for her own place, her money was spread thin right now.

  • Ryan rubbed his temples with one hand while the other steered the car he was driving. Back to his hometown after being away for such a long time. He sighed, shaking his head. This was a bad idea. What if he ran into her? The last time he saw her, they hadn't really been fond of each other. At the moment, he was on his way to the diner they always ate at. Perhaps it was because he was hungry, maybe it was because he might see Brook again. Whatever the reason, he was starting to doubt his choice. "Grt a hold of yourself, Ian... You just fought in a war and your scared of going to eat." He laughed to himself, shaking his head.

It wasn't long until he pulled into a parking space and stepped out of his car that all of his worries washed away. No turning back now. Confidently, he walked into the diner, not looking at anyone invade someone recognized him. This caused him to not even notice the waitress who he shared his past with. The man took a seat at a booth, running his fingers through his hair nervously.

Ooc: Sorry for the short post. It will pick up!

  • Brook heard the small bell ring, telling her there was a customer. "Be right with you," she called as she grabbed her pad of paper and pen. She set her towel aside and smoothed her hair before stepping out around the counter.

"Welcome to Sweet Eats. I hope your having a good afternoon. What can I start you out with?" She recited the words she had been saying for years. Getting out her pad and pen, she prepared to take his order. She glance up at the man sitting in front of her now.

    .: default role play| "speaking"| thinking :.

  • Ian looked at the menu, pressing his lips together. He hadn't yet looked up at her face. "I'll take a cheeseburger with extra pickles on the side," he said, ordering something he got every time he came to the diner. Finally, he looked up, confusion dawning on his face. Then, all of a sudden, recognition. He didn't really know what to say, since he had never been in such a situation, and just stared blankly at her. She would look up soon, anyways. Wow, it had been a long time... She hadn't really changed, while he... He had changed a lot.

  • Brook had see the side of the man's face while he looked at the menu then looked down to write his order. She wrote in short hand since she was the only on here today, making it quick and easy for herself. She nodded and looked up once more.

"Anything to...?" She noticed the strange look he was now giving her and furrowed her eyebrows slightly in confusion. "Is something wrong, sir?" She asked hesitantly, a bit worried.

    .: default role play| "speaking"| thinking :.

  • Ian's hopes fell a little when she didn't recognize him, and cleared his throat. How should he go about this? "Brook?" He questioned, setting his menu down on the table. "I think it's kinda funny that you don't remember me," he said, looking down at his hands, then back up at her with bright green eyes. He couldn't blame her. War made him look more mature, more like a man. Before he left, he was still a boy. Then he was gone for a few years.

  • Brook looked at this man for a few more moments, until his green eyes connected with her brown ones. Her heart seemed to skip a beat and that's when she knew who he was. Her hands flew to her mouth, her pad and pen falling as she stepped back.

Eyes wide and tracing his form, her mind was scrambling. He's back? This man is...is Ian? She shook her head slightly in disbelief. "I-Ian?" she asked, almost hesitant to have the words leave her lips. Her voice was slightly muffled through her hands.

    .: default role play| "speaking"| thinking :.

  • Ian nodded his head, running his fingers through his head. He looked up at her, gesturing to the seat across from him at the booth. "Do you have time to sit?" He asked, hoping that he was going to be able to talk to Brook... They had to talk. Things were complicated. He bit the inside of his cheek, and waiting anxiously for her answer. This could ruin their relationship completely, even though it was already messed up.

  • Brook looked at the seat then slowly nodded. It was slow anyways and currently he was the only one there. She step forward and into the seat. This was definitely not how she expected her day to turn out.

"Its hard to believe you're here," she said as her wide eyes still stayed on him. He was so different now, definitely grown up much more during these last four years. It really showed what time can do to a person.

    .: default role play| "speaking"| thinking :.

  • Ian nodded, agreeing with her statement. It was hard to believe for him as well. "I got back yesterday morning," He murmured, pressing his lips together as he looked up at Brooklyn once more with his trademark eyes. He tapped his fingers on the table nervously, trying to put words together in his mind. "Listen... Before I left, we weren't on good terms..." He said, not knowing how to continue. He let out a nervous laugh, scratching the back of his neck. "What I'm trying to say is that I'm sorry for what I put you through... I never meant for anyone to get hurt. That is, if you were hurt."

  • Brook looked down at her folded hands, hearing his apology. She shook her head. "That was my fault too," she said softly. "I freaked out before I really gave you time to explain." Even if I had a reason to freak out she added silently.

    .: default role play| "speaking"| thinking :.

  • Ian nodded his head, smiling slightly. "Thank you, I appreciate that," He said, looking down at his hands silently for a few moments. "So... What's new in town. You tend to lose track where I was," HE said, attempting to make a joke. That probably wasn't the best thing he could do in such a situation, and went back into silence while he waited for her answer.

  • Brook brought her gaze back to him and gave a small shrug. "Town wise, not much," she said. "We have had a few new stores come in, this diner updated a bit, the roads have been better taken care of..." She gave a small smile. "Really not much has changed around this little place."

    .: default role play| "speaking"| thinking :.

  • Ian nodded, smiling slightly as she told him this. He look at Brook with a curious expression, tilting his head to the side. "What's new with you, Brook? Anything exciting?" He questioned, a curious glint in his eyes. What if she had a boyfriend now? A husband? A family? Thoughts raced through his head and he started to tap his fingers again.
