  • [glow=red,2,300]The rest of what happened after that.. well, it was a blur. Alistair remembered it, obviously, but he didn't want to explain it. They'd just been... picked up by a dragon like it was no biggie. Shed put him onto her back and picked up Maeron and Andromeda in her claws, and carried them back to the strange hut in the woods. There, she turned into Morrigan's mother. Which confused Alistair more than anything until he remembered she was the Witch of the Wilds. Morrigan had come outside to help her mother, and she'd immediately taken Maeron as who she would look after, and began to tend to his wouns magically and with herbs and bandages. Flemmeth took are of Andromeda, patching her wounds quite easily and using a bit of magic on her as well. Alistair was traumatized, all the while, trying so f*cking hard to forget... but not being able to. He feared he was the only Grey Warden left. He feared they had both died.

But that was not to be... [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]The first thing Andromeda saw when she awoke was the shield coming straight for her face. Her eyes shot open and she gasped. Just a dream... she thought. The rogue attempted to sit up, wincing. She slowly and painfully moved her legs off of the bed so she sat with them touching the floor. Where am I? Andromeda couldn't recall where she was. A pounding headache kept her from thinking straight. The rogue looked around. The house she was in was rather small. At the other end of the room, she could see Maeron still unconscious in his bed. It worried her.

Andromeda stood up, using the wall for brief support. The room was spinning. Damn hurlock shield... she thought, rubbing her head. Once she could see somewhat straight, she slowly began to shuffle her way to the door. Her side ached and she was unable to move her shoulder without causing a little pain. Or a lot depending on the movement. She could feel the bandages under her clothes, tight and secure.

Upon opening the door, Andromeda realized she was outside. Just ahead of her was Alistair. Even from behind, she could tell he was worried sick. She took a couple slow steps closer, unable to go faster without almost stumbling. Her head was killing her. But she was alive.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]Flemmeth noticed her come outside and went to her side, helping her stand up and taking her to Alistair. "Grey Warden, turn and face a fear that had only been half extinguished." She said, looking right to Alistair.

Alistair did as told, and his jaw dropped, but it turned to a smile. "Andromeda! You're... you're alive...!" He cried, getting up and moving to her and at the last second, realized that hugging her wouldn't be the best thing for her at the moment. So he simply took her from Flemmeth and let her sit where he'd been sitting. "Thank the Maker your alive.."Alistair murmured.

Inside the hut, Maeron groaned and muttered, "Don't... touch that Tamlen... T... no... No... don't-- DON'T!"

Nightmares were a bitch. They plagued him constantly. But that... that nightmare was uncalled for. He practically screamed the word, shooting up into a sitting position and regretting it immediately and he let out a cry of pain and laid back down, stars covering his vision. Morrigan went to his side, placing a wet cloth on his forehead. "Rest now, Maeron." She said, "There is no need to panic. There is nothing here of danger to you."

Maeron said nothing, simply staring at the ceiling and allowing Morrigan to tend to his wounds. He swallowed, keeping his gaze straight ahead.. only for a moment. He turned his head to look at Morrigan, smiling to her a bit and saying, "It seems fate did bring us together again, didn't it? Just like you had wanted."

"Indeed." Morrigan responded, smiling just a bit, "We seldom receive company, and yours is worth having."

"Should I take that as a compliment or an insult?"

    "Take it however you wish."

    "Compliment it is then."

    "A wise choice."

Maeron smiled a bit, chuckling softly. He didn't even question how he got there yet. He just knew he was there, and so was Morrigan... and he was in a hut. [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Andromeda was happy to sit down and even happier to do so with Alistair. She looked at him and smiled. "I could say the same about you..." she replied. She rubbed the back of her with her good arm. "What happened...? While I was out... All I remember was Maeron falling, you... screaming... All the darkspawn... There were so many. The last thing I can recall is a hurlock's shield coming at my face..."[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=blue,2,300]"Yes... that... all the Grey Wardens... every single one... dead. Duncan he... oh, Duncan..." Alistair muttered, his face showing the depression he'd been feeling ever since Ostagar, "If I had... If I had been there I could've... something.... Duncan might not be dead..." [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"Your other Grey Warden is awake." Morrigan said, blatantly interrupting Alistair. Maeron was leaning heavily upon Morrigan, but she was gladly holding him up. They were holding hands, fingers intertwined. Alistair's expression turned a bit bitter at noticing that, but then he realized that Maeron was up, and living, just like Andromeda. He smiled and ran over to him, practically ripping him away from Morrigan... like she would give him some nasty disease. "Thank the Maker your alive!" Alistair said, smiling to him.

"Ow.." Is all Maeron responded with, because being pulled away from Morrigan so quickly had caused pain to ripple through his entire body. Alistair apologized profusely and led him over to Andromeda and sat him down with her. Morrigan crossed her arms and sighed, saying, "Tis not unkind of you to appreciate the help we have provided, Alistair."

"And why should I have any reason to trust you?" Alistair said, eyes narrowing.

"I saved the life of your Grey Warden friend. My mother could have left him to rot in Ostagar with the rest of your fellow Grey Wardens." Morrigan said bluntly, frowning.

Alistair simply frowned and moved closer to Maeron, in a protective sort of way. "I'm... sorry, Morrigan."

Morrigan gave a sarcastic gasp as she said, "An apology?! Twould not be expected from you, Alistair. I am pleasantly shocked."

"Oh, ha ha Morrigan... don't mention it later." Alistair sighed, shaking his head. [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Andromeda smiled upon seeing that Maeron was awake and hearing Alistair and Morrigan's bickering. She straightened her back, wincing a little at the wound in her side. Releasing a sigh, the rogue asked, "What happened to the troops Loghain sent in? Did they all perish as well?" Andromeda was unsure was happened outside the tower or what happened after she fell unconscious. She knew the Grey Wardens were gone, leaving only her, Alistair, and Maeron, but she didn't know what happened to the rest of the soldiers.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=blue,2,300]"This doesn't seem real... if it weren't for Morrigan's mother, we'd be dead up in that tower..." Alistair said to himself, running a hand through his hair. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"Do not talk about me as if I weren't present, lad." Flemeth scolded, crossing her arms. [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"I-I didn't mean... but what do we call you? You never told us your name." Alistair said, frowning. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"Names are pretty, but useless. The Chasind folk call me Flemeth. I suppose it'll do." [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"The Flemeth? From the legends? Daveth was right... you're the Witch of the Wilds, aren't you?" [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"And what does that mean? I know a bit of magic, and it has served you three well, has it not?"

"It has... thank you." Maeron said, sighing softly to himself. It hurt to even do that. Morrigan seemed to frown at it, as if she felt the need to fuss over him in that moment and try and continue treating his wounds. He could see it on her face. [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"We need to bring Loghain to judgment! Why would he do this?" Alistair exclaimed, "He did leave all the Grey Wardens behind. He let his king die, and for what?! He sounded a retreat like a coward! It was treason!" [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"Perhaps he believes that the Blight is an army he can outmaneuver. Perhaps he cannot see the evil behind it is the true threat." Flemeth suggested, crossing her arms. [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"The archdemon.." Alistair said, voice darkening as he looked down to the ground. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"We could look for the archdemon, but by ourselves it would be dangerous. We do, however, have the treaties, and can receive help." Maeron suggested, looking to Alistair. [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]It looked like everything in the world had lightened up at the mentioned at the treaties. "Of course! The treaties! The Grey Wardens can demand aid from dwarves, elves, mages, and other places! They're obligated to help us during a Blight!" [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"I may be old, but these dwarves, mages, elves... it all sounds like an army to me." Flemeth said.

"That's what I was going for in mentioning that." Maeron muttered, shrugging his shoulders a bit. [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"So can we do this? Go to Redcliffe and all these other places and... build an army?" Alistair asked. [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Andromeda stood up, first swaying on her feet before holding herself up. "We can and we will. If we don't get an army together we'd have no chance at facing the archdemon." she said. She was eager to get started. she was ready to keep Ferelden protected from the Blight.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]"I agree. We need to get started as soon as we can, even if Andromeda and I are injured." Maeron said, nodding a little and running a hand through his hair. He wasn't exactly excited to do this, but he was ready. It was needed to save Ferelden, and he would do it if it were the death of him. He grew up in the woods of these lands, thus making it his home. He'd protect it until he died doing it.

"So you are set then? Ready to be Grey Wardens?" Flemeth asked, crossing her arms.

"It seems we are..." Maeron sighed, standing up himself and nearly falling over again. Morrigan had went to his side, making sure he didn't fall. Once he had his footing, Morrigan went back to her mother, seeming satisfied that even thought it took a little help, he could stand on his own. That meant her remedies and magic had worked, and he would heal soon. With that, she went inside to go check on the stew she had been making for dinner. "Thank you for everything you've done for us... both of you."

"No, no, thank you. You are the Grey Wardens here, not I." Flemeth said, "Now... before you go, there is yet one more thing I can offer you."

Morrigan came back out from the hut, asking, "The stew is bubbling, mother dear. Shall we have three guests for the eve.. or none?"

"The Grey Wardens are leaving shortly, girl. And you will be joining them." Flemeth declared.

"Such a shame ---what?" Morrigan began, but soon realized what her mother had said. Her voice cracked into a higher register in surprise, and Maeron smirked. Morrigan seemed confused, surprised, and horrified all at once, staring at her mother with wide eyes.

"You heard me, girl. The last time I looked, you had ears!" Flemeth laughed.

"I, for one, think it would be lovely to bring Morrigan along." Maeron said, smirking to Morrigan, who turned to him and narrowed her eyes a bit as she recognized the sarcasm in his voice. [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]"You plan on sending your only daughter with us?" Andromeda asked. "Why?" The rogue was curious. There was a lot that Morrigan could offer them. SHe seemed like she would be very helpful with her knowledge and skill of magic.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]"Her magic will be useful. Even better, she knows the Wilds and how to get past the hoard." Flemeth explained, clasping her hands behind her back.

"Have I no say in this?!" Morrigan exclaimed, taking a small step away from her mother.

"You have been itching to get out of the Wilds for years. Here is your chance. As for you, Wardens, consider this repayment for your lives." [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"Not to... look a gift horse in the mouth but, won't this add to our problems? Out of the Wilds, she's an apostate." Alistair said. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"If you do not wish help from us illegal mages, young man, perhaps I should have left you on that tower." Flemeth responded, glaring a bit to the blond.[/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]Alistair tensed at her words and looked down, fists clenching and unclenching as he muttered, "Point taken.." He obviously didn't want to think of Ostagar again. Not so soon...[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"Mother... this is not how I wanted this. I-I'm not even ready--" Morrigan began once again with her protests.

"You must be ready. Alone, these three must unite Ferelden against the darkspawn. They need you Morrigan. Without you, they will surely fail, and all will perish under the Blight. Even I." Flemeth told her daughter.

"I... understand..." Morrigan sighed, finally giving in and looking down.

"And you Wardens. Do you understand? I give you that which I value above all in this world. I do this because you must succeed." The witch asked, turning to them and away from Morrigan.

Maeron nodded. He understood completely. He looked to Alistair and saw him nod, smiling just a bit. They were in. His gaze then went to Andromeda, who he was positive would understand fully. [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Andromeda nodded. "We will succeed," she said. "We have too..." The second part was much quieter, almost like she said it to reassure herself. She completely understood. If they were to fail, the Blight could possibly leave Ferelden and counquer the rest of Thedas too. That wouldn't be ideal.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]"Allow me to get my things, if you please." Morrigan sighed, turning and walking inside the hut.

"I don't think it will be bad having Morrigan around." Maeron said, crossing his arms carefully over his chest, making sure he didn't hurt himself. [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"Of course you do. You and her got along more than swimmingly back at the ruins." Alistair sighed, "She's evil. O-or she could be. She could be a terrible, turn-humans-to-toads witch." [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"You trust so little Alistair. Give her a chance. She's a lovely woman once you talk to her enough."[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Andromeda shrugged, wincing at her shoulder wound. "Oh, lighten up Alistair. She seems very useful. Plus, she also seems interesting." she said. Although Andromeda wasn't a mage, she found them rather interesting. Especially Morrigan and Flemmeth.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]Morrigan came out of the hut with only a small bag slung around her shoulder. "I am at your disposal, Grey Wardens. I suggest a village north of the Wilds as our first destination. 'Tis not far and you will find much of what you need there... or, if you prefer, I shall simply be your silent guide. The choice is yours."

"Your input is valued, Morrigan. You don't have to stay silent. Speak up if you wish." Maeron told her, smiling a bit.

Flemeth laughed, saying, "You will regret saying that."

Morrigan turned to her mother and gave her a slightly pissed off grin, saying, "Dear, sweet mother, you are so kind to cast me out like this. How fondly I will remember this moment."

"Well, I always said if you want something done, do it yourself, or hear about it for a decade or two afterwards." [/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]"I just... do we really want to take her along because her mother says so?" Alistair asked, looking to Maeron and Andromeda warily. [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]"She did save our lives, Alistair," Andromeda pointed out. "If she hadn't been there, we wouldn't be here. And besides, why would she save us if she were to kill us later on?"[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=blue,2,300]"I guess your right. The Grey Wardens have always taken allies where they could find them." Alistair sighed, rubbing his temples. [/glow]

[glow=maroon,2,300]"I am so pleased to have your approval." Morrigan said, smiling at her own sarcasm.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Alistair glared at her as Maeron said, "We should gather our things quickly and head out. There is no time to lose with the Blight approaching so quickly." [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Andromeda nodded. "Noted." The rogue didn't have much to gather besides her daggers and armor. She had some trouble strapping on her armor. Around her side if it was too tight, it would hurt her side. The same with her shoulder. It took her longer than usual to get it on but, once it was, she was ready.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]Maeron didn't have much trouble with his armor, though he couldn't tighten it too much. His armor had been repaired, and he was glad for that, but they'd have to get new armor soon. He wouldn't get rid of his Dalish armor though. It was too personal to him. It was all he had left of his clan now... aside from his father's amulet, that is, which he wore around his neck with pride.

He put his daggers in the sheaths on his back, walking outside and standing next to Morrigan. [/glow]

[glow=maroon,2,300]"Farewell, Mother. Do not forget the stew on the fire. I would hate to return to a burned-down hut." Morrigan said, looking to her mother as she sighed.

"Bah! 'Tis far more likely you will return to see this entire area, along with my hut, swallowed up by the Blight!" Flemeth said, crossing her arms.

Morrigan's expression changed to worry and hurt as she frowned, stuttering, "I...a-all I meant was--"

"Yes, I know. Do try to have fun, dear."

With that, Morrigan nodded and looked to them, saying, "If you three will follow me, I will show you to the village." She then walked past them, and Maeron was close to follow. He wouldn't tell Morrigan, but he'd snuck some of the bread he'd seen on the table into his very small pack just in case they couldn't find anywhere to get food. Not like Flemeth would notice, right? [/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Andromeda gave Flemmeth a small farewell wave before following behind Maeron and Morrigan. The rogue walked side-by-side with Alistair who she could see was not very excited about Morrigan's company. She chuckled slightly at his disgruntled expression.[/glow][/justify]
