  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Sparrow quickly stood up and looked over to the door, smiling. "Of course, Cullen." she chuckled, crossing her arms over her chest.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=maroon,2,300]"I... you liked your gifts, yes?" Cullen asked, seeming to want to say something first but changing the subject to another. He blushed, rubbing the back of his neck.[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]"Yeah, they're beautiful." Sparrow said. "I don't even know where you could have found a necklace like that... But I suppose you have you ways." she smiled. The mage examined his face. She could tell there was more he wanted to say. "What is it?" she asked.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=maroon,2,300]"You'd be surprised," Cullen responded, smiling a bit. The Inquisitor was actually very skilled in such matters it turned out. When she asked what was wrong, he visibly tensed a bit and sighed, saying, "I know you're excited about the Winter Palace but I..." He fell silent, frowning and looking away from her, "I might not make it..."[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Sparrow's smiled faded and her shoulders slumped. "Why? What's happened?" she asked, concerned. The mage came closer to him, looking up to his face. "Did something go wrong?"[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=maroon,2,300]Cullen sighed, "You know the Inquisitor is Dalish, yes? Well, those elves that came here earlier were from his clan. Clan Lavellan is... threatened, to say the least. They report being followed by raiders and possibly demons from rifts that they have not been able to locate. They're in danger, and asked for our help. Inquisitor Lavellan has requested we dispose of them to protect his clan. His elven friends are to lead us to where the clan was located and my forces and are to dispose of the threats. I would have refused, but I know that he was ripped from the world he knew before, and the last thing I'd want is to put any more worry on his shoulders by having him know his clan is completely defenseless where they are. I don't want his mental state compromised... I will try to get to the Winter Palace before the ball. I will try."[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Sparrow thought for a moment, and then gave Cullen a sad smile. "Okay," she said, looking back up to him. She wrapped her arms around his torso, embracing him in a hug. "But please be careful. Alright?"[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=maroon,2,300]Cullen immediately put his arms around her when she hugged him, sighing softly. "I will... I promise you, I will be there. I'll be there to take you in by the arm while they announce our names together... I promise." He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head, holding her close.[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]"Alright, a promise it is." Sparrow said, giving him a tight squeeze before she pulled away. "When do you leave? Tonight?" she asked.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=maroon,2,300]Culen tightened the embrace when she did, letting out a soft sigh when he reluctantly let go. He frowned at how upset she looked, yet she still smiled at him, which made it harder to leave her.

He was silent for a moment, not answering her question before hearing some footsteps in the hall outside her room. He backed up a few steps before drawing his blade. "Now... it's an urgent matter that needs attending to as quickly as possible... I'm sorry."

He moved over to her once more after a moments thought, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her close, pressing his lips to hers. He held the kiss for a few moments before he moved back, muttering, "I swear to the Maker that I will be there... farewell, my love..."

Then he forced himself to let her go and to move away, walking out the door without looking back. That would have only made leaving more difficult.[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Sparrow didn;t even register that Cullen was leaving until he was actually gone. The mage walked over and sat on her bed. She felt so lonely since he'd left so suddenly, but she knew she'd see him again at the Winter Palace. He'd made a promise after all.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]A few hours passed after the troops left before there was another knock on Sparrow's door. This time is was Sabrae poking his head through the door, looking around the room before his eyes landed on her.

He frowned before saying, "I... we're leaving soon. I just wanted to make sure everything was... going alright...?"[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Sparrow had barely moved from her spot in those past few hours. All she'd done was check a couple of times over the things she'd pack to make sure she didn't forget anything. When she heard the door open, she look up rather hopefully even though she knew Cullen would be gone for a while. When she saw Sabrae, she was a little disappointed for obvious reasons. "Yeah, everything is fine. I'll...be down in a minute." she said.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=red,2,300]"If... if you're upset about Cullen I'm sorry... I didn't expect him to insist he go along. He's too good a friend to me... He will make it, I'm sure. Meet us at the barn by sunset. Varric and I will be tending the horses we're taking with us, but you don't have to be there now. Just be tehre before the sky changes color," Sabrae sighed, rubbing the back of his neck a moment before giving her a small smile and waving as he walked from the room.[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]After Sabrae left, Sparrow stood and let out a long sigh. The mage picked up her things and began walking down to the stables in the courtyard. That's when she heard Dorian through his door. It seemed like he was counting to the beat of music. A steady 'one, two, three, four.' Curiosity got the best of Sparrow as she knocked on his door and opened it slightly. "Dorian? Are you...dancing?"[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=darkgreen,2,300]At first, Dorian didn't even notice her nor hear her. He seemed to concentrated muttering the beat to an imaginary song, singing an imaginary partner around and taking quick glances at a few books he had propped up where he could see them. They had different dancing positions, and he struck them perfectly when he glanced to them. He smirked to himself when he did.

He only noticed her last second, stopping mid dance to simply stare like a deer looking straight into the tip of an arrow. He blinked and let his hands drop to his sides, face flushing bright red as he walking over to his books and quickly shut them, stacking them up and leaning onto them once he did. He let out a breath before asking, "You needed something, yes?"

He looked over to her, hoping his blushing had stopped (side note: it hadn't).[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]Sparrow smiled and walked in the room, shutting the door behind her. "You planning on dancing with our dear Inquisitor do you? Yes, I saw you practicing. I could help you, if you'd like. There are a couple of things you need to work on." she said, setting her hands on her hips.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=darkgreen,2,300]"I very much would like to dance with my a... with our dear Inquisitor, if that isn't too much of a shock," Dorian sighed, knowing it wasn't, "Just seeing us together for too long could add to the scandal. We're suspected as it is... the evil magister controlling the Inquisitor's mind, they'd say. I'd ruin his reputation, and that is not something we need at the Winter Palace I... it's simply a wish that has a very minimal chance of becoming a reality..." The tevinter sighed and stood up straight rubbing his temples.

"You and the Commander have it easy. No one questions a woman on the arm of a man, no one questions their inevitable connection when they see the looks of affection... Everyone scowls otherwise," Dorian huffed softly, shaking his head before looking up, "I'm sorry, this whole process is... quite frustrating. If you have suggestions I'm... willing to take them."

Dorian would give Sabrae a dance. He sure as hell would. Maybe not at the palace, not at the ball, but he would. Simply thinking about doing such a thing make him nervous, but the Inquisitor deserved it... he knew he did.[/glow]

  • [justify][glow=purple,2,300]"Yeah, well... Cullen might not be able to make it to the Winter Palace." Sparrow said. "Anyways," she began, changing the subject. "Of course I'll help. Come on now. We only have a little bit of time, yes?"

Sparrow positioned herself and Dorian into the beginning positions of the dance, looking him over. "Now, you wanna keep you back straight. Stand tall. And keep those shoulders back. Head held high." she said.[/glow][/justify]

  • [glow=darkgreen,2,300]Dorian scoffed, "He'd be there even if his corpse had to be dragged there. He does love you, and he was very adamant on being there. He'll make it even if he has to kill fifteen dozen men to do it."

When she came over to him, Dorian held her as he'd always known you should hold your partner when dancing. It wasn't like he hadn't gotten dancing lessons from his mother for all the parties they went to. It was really just the nervousness of messing up the perfect moment between him and his beloved that had him practicing his dancing.

"Don't I always?" Dorian asked, smirking a bit. Indeed, he was already standing straight with his shoulders back, and head held high. When didn't he? He was quite confident... or at least he tried to seem like he was.[/glow]
