Spirit shrugged. "Maybe you can fix it once we get back?"

Simon's ears flattened. "I guess.." he muttered hoarsely.
-
"Is something wrong?" She asked, ears flicking back as she continued to watch himz
-
"No," mumbled Simon as he continued onward again.
-
"O...Kay..." the wolf hesitantly followed.
-
The tunnels just led deeper and deeper, and grew wider and wider. And they were very silent besides them, except for a few minutes later, when Simon's eyes suddenly went wide and he whipped around, pinning Spirit to the wall and covering her mouth. Which was a difficult thing for the small fox to do. "Did you hear that?!" he hissed faintly, his eyes very wide and his ears pricked back towards where the tunnel continued on.
-
Spirit's squeak of alarm was quickly silenced as she felt Simon's hand on her mouth, her eyes nearly popping out of her skull in surprise. She stayed still, unable to answer, and instead just listened like Simon told her to.
-
Quiet voices, movement, echoing down from somewhere up ahead.
-
Spirit slowly nodded against Simon's hand. She relaxed a little.
-
Simon slowly let her go, staring down at the tunnel ahead. He glanced at her, round-eyed and obviously afraid. What do we do? he mouthed.
-
Spirit shrugged and bit her lip, looking around for any places to hide.
-
It was just a broad tunnel, with no other branchoffs or anything, but it didn't sound like whoever was out there was getting closer.
-
"..." spirit glanced back at Simon questioningly. Check it out? She mouthed in response, tail twitching.
-
Simon looked purely terrified by that idea.
-
Spirit's nose wrinkled a bit, and she glanced down the tunnel longingly.
-
Simon made himself nod, wincing.
-
Her disappointed frown turned into a smile as she saw him change his mind, and she cocked her towards the voices, beginning to slowly follow them.
-
Simon crept after her.
-
Spiri slowed as they got louder, pricking her ears and trying to distinguish what they were saying.
-
The words were clear, yet not understandable. It didn't sound like whoever it was was speaking the same language as them. And it sounded like a lot of people were out there.
