[fancypost bgcolor=#E65C00; bordercolor=#fff; borderwidth=; width:500px;text-align:justify;text-transform:lowercase;color:#000;font-family:verdana;font-size:8pt;]Do you have something to share, something to sell? Or do you need to pick up a nifty item or hire someone for whatever you need done? Then welcome to the Merchants' Guild, where vendors, merchants, hobbyists, professionals, and customers gather to haggle over wares and services. Maybe you want to sell those stuffed animals or illicit drugs you happen to have, whether you dedicate your life towards creating them or simply make them as a hobby. Or perhaps you're extremely good at assassinating, or fortune telling, and you want to make a living off of that. The Merchants' Guild welcomes everyone within its base, whether they want to sell or buy.[/fancypost]

[fancypost bgcolor=#E65C00; bordercolor=#fff; borderwidth=; width:500px;text-align:justify;text-transform:lowercase;color:#000;font-family:verdana;font-size:8pt;]The HQ of the Merchants' Guild is a huge, pristine city not unlike New York City (but without all the pollution). Each building, known simply as a "shop", is owned and overseen by a member of the society, or a "merchant." These shops are where merchants advertise their goods and services. They don't have to live in the city--many of them don't, actually--but they run their respective shop for a certain period of time every day, week, month, etc (in IC time, not real time). For example, you can run your shop 24/7, or you can run it from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Monday and take as many breaks from this schedule as you want. This way you can be in a clan but still be a member of the Merchants' Guild.
Within each shop, merchants sell their wares and/or services. If they specialize in jewelry, for example, they can display their necklaces and brooches and such on counters, shelves, or whatever other furniture they'd like, and possibly take commissions from customers for custom jewelry. The Merchants' Guild revolves primarily around barter, so they don't have a specialized currency system. You can price your goods/services any way you'd like.
Customers can come to the Merchants' Guild's HQ at any time. Their role is simple--enter shops, barter for goods and services with whatever they have on them, maybe haggle, exit with their desired product. It's as simple as that.[/fancypost]

[fancypost bgcolor=#E65C00; bordercolor=#fff; borderwidth=; width:500px;text-align:justify;text-transform:lowercase;color:#000;font-family:verdana;font-size:8pt;]1. Upon acceptance of your merchant application, you must create a thread in the Rogue & Feral Lands board titled with the name of the shop and your name (example: "examplepaw's super duper jewelry," "tech support -- examplepaw's real estate services") in any format. The first post must consist of the introduction of your shop, such as the appearance of your shop, the hours you can be found in your shop (ICly), what you sell, what your general prices are, etc.
In the heart of the Merchants' Guild's HQ is a homey, vintage bakery, decked with pretty pastel colors and quite out of place when compared with the towering, sleek skyscrapers surrounding it. It has a certain allure to it, though, in that it appears comfortable and quaint. The irresistible smell of freshly baked pastries permeate the vicinity. A freshly painted sign hangs above the storefront: "The Bake Shop." A slip of paper is taped to the transparent door, which says, "Open from 1 pm to 8 pm every Friday, Holidays included. There may be exceptions. Open for internship--inquire within." If it isn't Friday from 1pm to 8pm or it's an exception day, the door will be locked. Otherwise, it will be free to pull open, in which case you will be greeted by the friendly chiming of a bell.
Inside the small bakery are several tables and chairs and some glass display counters, showing off rows and rows of delicious pastries and baked goods. Examplepaw can be found waiting behind the counter, tacking away at their cash register, or in the back room baking bread. There's a tiny bell on the counter--ringing it will bring them bustling over to the sound. A large blackboard encompasses an entire wall, which lists all the baked goods that are sold here. There's certainly a lot of them. It goes on to say that Examplepaw takes commissions and can bake custom baked goods for you, such as specialized birthday or wedding cakes. Prices are negotiable, but their most preferred form of payment is in jewels. She takes credit if you happen to be short on anything to barter with at the moment, so this shop relies heavily on the honor system.
2. Roleplaying takes place within that same thread. A customer posts ICly, the merchant running the shop posts ICly, transactions are made, boom. Done. The thread should be open at all times unless you're on hiatus, in which case you lock the thread and post here notifying me of this action.
RPER 1: Examplepaw ran into the bakery and up to the counter. "Heyo, can I have two of those baguettes over there?" He pointed to the long loaves of bread before rummaging in the satchel looped over his shoulder, retrieving a small pearl tail ring and placing it on the counter. "I can pay you with this."
RPER 2: Otherexample brightened at the sight of the tail ring, sweeping it up and depositing it in her open cash register in one fluid motion. "Alright, give me a moment." She hurried to the back room. A minute later, she emerged carrying two long paper bags with two baguettes concealed inside. "Enjoy," she said, pushing the warm bags onto the counter and nodding at Examplepaw.
RPER 1: Examplepaw grinned and took the loaves. "Thanks!" he called as he ran out the door once more.
3. For longer, drawn out RPs, a separate thread should be made branching off the main shop thread. You don't have to tag these threads.
4. All main shop threads should be tagged with #merchantsguild.
5. Once a (real time) month, Etherkit, the founder of the Merchants' Guild, will collect taxes from all of the merchants. This will occur in an OOC thread, which will be announced and linked in this post. This serves as an activity check of sorts. If you don't post, you will be removed from the roster of the guild and you'll have to reapply. More information can be found within the actual tax-collecting thread.
6. Your shop is totally free to control. Want to give some people discounts and refuse to do business with others? Sure. Do you only accept payment in hugs and kisses? Great. Do as you will.
7. You may co-own a shop with others or have interns. Interns are like apprentices in that they work in your shop for no pay but learn about the craft correlated with the shop. If you'd like to be an intern for a shop, PM the shop owner or RP the process out.
8. Characters may have as many shops as they can handle.
9. Questions? PM me on this account. [/fancypost]
