    To direct her lightly curled, shiny mahogany ponytail away from her face, Jade twitched her head a little. Her arms remained above her head and her body stock still, to support a fellow cheerleader above her.
    She kept rigid. Only six more seconds. Five, four, three, two, one... eventually, she saw the girl at the top of the pyramid tumble down to the ground in a neat ball. The music stopped and Jade relaxed, stretching her trembling limbs.
    "Again!" Miss Quinn, the coach, demanded. "Jade, your toe touches. We call them toe touches for a reason. You freaking touch them."
    Rolling her eyes, Jade tightened her ponytail and obliged. "Sure." she muttered.
    Once the whole rigmarole was finished for the sixth time, the coach was eventually satisfied and the girls were allowed to go.


    "I'm the head cheerleader," Jade sighed to her best friend as they made their way out of the gym. "We don't need coach hanging around constantly. I know what I'm doing. I'm capable of coaching us all."
    Knowing better than to argue, Nat nodded without a word and bade goodbye, heading to the canteen. Jade didn't notice. Instead she caught sight of a girl, sitting on her own in the bleachers, whom she hadn't seen around before. Despite her 'popular girl' status, Jade knew and kept track of pretty much everyone in her year, but didn't recognise this girl with the dark hair and against-dress-code piercings. Maybe that's why she intrigued her.

She cocked her head to the side slightly an stood, the gym was clearing out. "Sorry, I wasn't sure if this was a closed practice or what...?" She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and raised an eyebrow as she shamelessly checked out Jade from head to toe. "Your coach is pretty tough on you guys." Naomi jumped off the bleachers and headed toward the gym doors. [/fancypost]

    "Um, no, anyone can come along." Jade replied. She folded her arms over her chest and returned the girl's gaze, although maybe not in the same way she'd received it.
    With a small smile the brunette spoke again. "Yeah, she is kinda. She just wants us to do well, I guess. Although cheerleading isn't everything."
    Glancing back at the girl, Jade wondered why she'd never seen her around before. She decided to ask. "Are you new here, by any chance? I don't recognise you."

Like Michelle, or Diamond. No, no wait. Cheerleading... I heard you say something about being captain...? You're Jade aren't you? You're pretty famous around here." Naomi tugged her fingers through her long hair and looked around at the empty gym. If anyone were to walk in its look pretty suspicious, Naomi wasn't exactly the model student. All they really had to do was look at her record and they'd take kick her out of the school. She sighed, better stay in your P's and Q's. [/fancypost]

    "Yeah, I'm Jade." Pleased at the her-being-famous comment, she couldn't help preening a little and flicking her long ponytail. She looked at Naomi again and smiled.
    "Rebel, huh?" Jade glanced around and licked her lips once. "You might wanna keep a lid on that around here. You'll either get pulled up by the hard-*ss teachers or get into the wrong crowd." She pulled a face. "Yeah, stay away from them."

"And what crowd would you say say is the right crowd miss head cheerleader?" She asked in a 'try me' tone of voice. Though, she probably should listen to Jade, she liked a challenge. Anyways, girls like Jade weren't exactly friends with girls like Naomi. She probably had the head football player as a boyfriend ad straight A's in all classes. Just the thought of it was enough to make Naomi cringe. She looked away from the cheerleader's perfect form and towards the door where a male figure was leaning against the frame. Naomi knew it was her brother but made no movements, towards the door or otherwise. He probably approved of her choice in friends, he was a football player after all. [/fancypost]

    Inspecting a pink nail, Jade raised her eyebrows.
    "Well, steer clear of the druggies, they're never good," she began. "Also mind out for the popular popular girls; like, the ones who are too cool to even cheerlead. Don't get on their bad side."
    She smiled as she began to leave the hall, swinging her gym bag on her forearm. Subconsciously she clocked the guy in the doorway, but made no obvious gesture to turn and look at him.
    "Anyway, Naomi, what class do you have next?" The question left an echoing silence in the vacant hall.

"AP Chemistry III." She replied before zipping up her bag and throwing it over her shoulder. "Not that it's really any of your concern." She straightened her beanie and left the gym. "Hey, Dusty I've got work today at the cafe. Don't wait up." The male nodded and kissed his sister in the head before turning to leave. "Don't screw up, Nomi. And don't call me Dusty." He replied before leaving. Naomi stayed a few steps behind Jade, but it seemed they were both headed to the main building. [/fancypost]

    Jade lifted her gaze to look at Naomi, before shrugging and heading over to the changing rooms, in front of her. Knowing that she only had five or six minutes to get changed and over to History, the brunette quickened her pace a little.
    For a second she thought about Naomi; she seemed different. Interesting, almost. At least a welcome break from all the blonde, head-full-of-hairspray cheerleaders she'd spent the past hour with. After a small sigh and a check of her watch, Jade slipped into the changing room and tried to hurry.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't focus on anything other than Jade. It was start if to give her a headache. As she was walking to class someone pushed her, causing her to drop her things. She scoffed and leaned over to pick up her stuff and Naomi was pushed down. But, when she stood again, no one was around. She shrugged it off and blamed the busy halls before ducking into her chemistry class, her head not exactly in polyatomics. [/fancypost]

    Once Jade had squeezed back into her black jeans, pale pink sweater and white chuck taylors, she gathered her things and scurried back out into the corridor. She bit her lip as she noticed the empty halls; class had started.
    After checking the time, she walked as quickly as she could to history class and entered the classroom with a ducked head. One sarcastic comment from the teacher later, she had claimed a seat at the back and could concentrate.
    Except she couldn't. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't recall any of the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, and felt remarkably stupid when the teacher called on her only to find Jade hadn't been listening. The young girl put her distraction down to the change of weather; winter was nearing, and the shorter days had thrown her into a state of vague disorientation. Praying that the class would end soon so she could escape back home, Jade put her head on the desk and gave up all attempt to concentrate.

The whole class period had gone rather poorly, ending in a lecture from the teacher about how if she wanted to take advanced classes she'd have to pay attention and blah blah blah. Of course, Naomi knew all of this, but still, even as he was speaking with her she couldn't focus on him or the class. Her head was starting to hurt. She sighed and gathered her things, leaving the room in a hurry. She knew she wouldn't be able to focus on work, but she'd told Dustin to leave without her and he would likely already be gone by the time she made it to the parking lot. Besides, she'd pulled a lot if strings to get that job, there was no way she was going to lose it now. She sighed and pulled some Advil out of her bag and took 3. [/fancypost]

    After the bell had finally rang, its ear-piercing shriek oddly welcome, Jade strode through the main building and out to the car park with purpose. All she wanted was to get out of this place and back home. However, despite her dedication, the long day had taken its toll and she was consumed with tiredness all over. The brunette sighed slightly and blinked hard, hoping her vision wouldn't go.
    Her plans to escape were scuppered when she felt an (unfortunately) familiar arm round her waist. Without even turning around, she flinched and addressed it.
    "Tyler. Please leave me alone."
    "Aw, babe," the dark-haired guy replied. "Why don't I give you a ride? You could come over to mine, and... we'll see what happens from there."
    Jade could practically hear the obnoxious smirk in Tyler's voice. It did not sit well with her at all, and so she turned to face him with a clouded expression.
    "Why won't you leave me alone? I've seriously had enough of you. Find a different girl to harass, or even better, go take care of yourself." the cutting remark left a sinister silence between the two.
    "Sorry for assuming the school sl*t would want to get with me," Tyler hissed in reply. "It's not very far fetched, is it?" And he left her in his wake.
    Why does he do that? Jade despaired internally. That's guys for you, I guess.
    Trying to take her mind off him and all those like him, the girl walked even quicker to her car, ignoring her fatigue. That's when she caught sight of Naomi, looking equally, or even more so, troubled. She saw that the girl had slipped three tablets into her mouth and thought of asking her if she was okay, considering they were pretty near to eachother; but decided against it, deciding not to annoy anybody else today. That seemed to be all that she could do.

She sighed and lifted her hand in a small wave having missed the interaction between her and Tyler. Her phone beeped three times and she checked her texts. By the grace of God, the cafe was closed. At least that's what the message said from her boss. She murmured a "thank god" and walked over to Naomi. "Hey... I was just wondering if maybe you could give me a lift...?" She asked, rubbing the back of her neck. "I told Dusy to leave without me, then work got cancelled... I'm sorry for such the bother..." Naomi sighed, she hated asking for favors, but maybe spending more time with Jade would make her feel better.[/fancypost]

    Jade whipped around at the voice, and smiled in some sort of relief when it turned out to be Naomi.
    "Yes, of course," she replied, turning properly to face her. They were right by her car and so she clicked the keys, ready to get in. "Where's your house? I live down in Briar Avenue," Jade referred to a small section of the suburb, a fifteen minute drive from the school. She popped the trunk and threw her gym bag in, before shutting it again with a clunk.

She replied, chewing her bottom lip and swinging herself into Jade's car. Since it was only her and Dustin, their house was quite small. She didn't like the idea of Jade seeing where she lived, but she really had no other choice. Naomi felt her heart pounding in her chest, thinking it was going no to bust out at any time and put her hand over her heart to try and calm it. "Thanks. I normally wouldn't ask, but like I said,, my brother has already left and I really don't know anyone else."[/fancypost]

    "Oh, don't worry about it," Jade smiled in reply, getting into the car and starting the engine. Carefully she reversed out of the small parking space, pulled out onto the main road and started talking again.
    "So, is it just you and your brother then, or..." Jade asked, hoping it wasn't too personal a question. She glanced at Naomi quickly, only taking her eyes off the road for a second. There was a huge rush of kids leaving school and adults leaving work, making the roads frustratingly busy, but thankfully the business started to peter away once they entered the residential area.
