❥Persephone Galathynius

     [ooh!! Happy late bday!! And idk what happened with my persephone FC but I can't do anything about it on mobile right now. I'll skip back to the castle, yes]

    Persephone hadn't fallen asleep just yet, she had been waiting for Peter to come back around, see if they could talkor something. But as soon as he came over he looked exhausted, and figured they could speak another time. She shifted, moving around so her feet where were her head was, and she wrapped her arms around Peter's neck gently, stomach on the bed, but she was holding onto him at the end of hers, resting her head on his shoulder. "He will be okay," she assured him and sighed, relaxing on him for a few moments.

    ~~~ A day or so later when Elias was alright enough to walk into a carriage, they headed back to the castle. Persephone didn't say a word, she actually really hadn't spoken since that first night at the old woman's house. She'd been traumatized, in all honesty, and didn't know what to do or say, so she'd remained quiet, even to Peter. The young woman wanted to leave, badly. She had been slow to get into the carriage, to return to the place where she'd nearly been kidnapped, and killed. She'd seen dead bodies, death. She wanted her mother desperately, wanting something of home.
    The only reason why she ended up getting in was for Peter. Back at the castle everything was going back to normal. Those surviving guards who attacked were to be questioned and then publicly executed. They were waiting for the princes to return, as well as Violet, so they could hold another meeting discussing what happened, and Violet would be questioned. When they returned to the palace, Persephone didn't feel like sticking around, she needed to go and distract herself with work. She didn't give Peter a goodbye either, she ran off, needing to do something - anything to do. But when she reported to her boss, they were cleaning up all the blood off the floor. Persephone stood in horror at it all, and said she would she just needed a moment or two, and then fled, hurrying outside to the courtyard to get some air. She didn't think she could do this anymore, be a servant in such a dangerous place. But she didn't want to leave Peter at the same time. He was all she had these days.
    ❥Elias Whitethorn
     Elias had slept for nearly a day at first, and when he'd woken up, he felt as if he'd been run over by a stampede of horses. When he woke, the old woman gave him a tonic to drink which helped with the pain. Peter and Violet were both there to greet him, and he insisted he was fine, knowing they'd both demand how he was doing. He just was very tired and very sore, and his whole body felt heavy. Elias slept once again, and pretty much the whole ride back to the castle. The apothecary woman ended up being hired as the new healer at the castle, and she came with them to treat Elias. He was in his bed now back at the castle, finally waking up from yet another nap. There was no one in his chambers though, and he sat up, grunting in pain. He slipped on a robe - he had pants on but no shirt, and a bandage covering most of his shoulder where the arrow had gone through. Elias definitely felt better than the day before, but he was still drowsy and felt heavy. He approached the door, opened it up, and demanded to see Peter or Violet or someone who could explain to him why they were back at the castle and what was going on, because he couldn't remember much of the past few days, except Violet and Peter's worried faces. He was happy they cared so much but he wanted to make sure they were okay and figure out what was going on.
    (Gross, exams. Yup, I've pretty much given up on my finals too. Good luck on all your exams! )
    Peter walked down the hall thinking that he should probably go visit his brother. It had been many long hours since the attack but the Prince was just grateful that Elias was alive and well. He was also grateful for the fact that the healer was now hired at the castle, she was a good woman and certainly saved his brother's life for that he was eternally grateful. As he was walking towards Elias's room he noticed Violet heading in the same direction, figuring he'd let her see Elias first he veered off into the other direction. It wasn't that he wished to avoid Violet it was simply that they had no words to say to each other but one thing Peter was grateful for was the fact that Violet had stayed by his brother's side no matter the circumstance. He admired that about her and he knew that Elias admired that trait too. He couldn't help but wonder what had been going on between his brother and Violet. They had seemed quite close when Peter and Persephone had discovered them in the secret tunnel but perhaps that night at the ball had changed things just as it had for him. His thoughts drifted to Persephone and he realized that he hadn't seen her since they had all gathered at the healer's house. He immediately felt guilty for not seeking her out sooner. The Prince had seen the terror in her eyes when they had nearly been held hostage by the attackers, he wondered if those images had haunted her still just as they were haunting him. Peter walked into the courtyard deciding that some fresh air might clear his head. As he walked down the gravel path he spotted a figure in obvious distress. As he wandered closer he realized it was Persephone. He quickly walked up to her his brow furrowing slightly at her frantic expression. "Are you alright?" he asked gently knowing that it was a stupid question because she was certainly not alright but he decided that asking a basic question was the best way to go about things. All he wanted to do was wrap her up in his arms but he knew he could not do that in such a public place for who knew which maid or guard was lurking around the corner. He certainly didn't want to put her position at risk and one glimpse of the two of them together would spread like wildfire. Peter still wondered if his parents would decide to go through with the wedding after all. He sincerely doubted it thought for he knew Violet would probably have to go through an interrogation first before she could be deemed fit to even stay in the castle. As much as this freedom made him happy it made him worried for Violet's sake. Even though he had no feelings for her he still cared whether she would be exiled or not.
    Violet walked down the hall towards Elias's room her footsteps echoing loudly in the silent corridor. The fae walked faster as she heard Elias speaking to one of the guards asking about her and also Peter. A small smile lit up her face as Elias came into view. Despite the bandage on his shoulder he looked healthy better than the ghostly pallor she had seen just the day before. She shivered at the thought of Elias being so close to death, she was certainly grateful that he had survived the ordeal and that a possible infection hadn't spread. "Elias, I need to speak with you," she said in a formal tone so that guard would think that they were just going over some royal matters. She walked towards the doorway and slipped inside closing the door behind her so that the guard would hopefully leave them alone. "How are you feeling?" she asked softly her eyes drawn to the lump of the bandage on his shoulder. The healer woman had certainly worked so kind of magic that it was mending so well. The fae had so matter words to say to Elias yet she kept them all inside her head knowing full well that she couldn't say anything to Elias that couldn't be taken back. Soon it would time for her to be questioned it was only a matter of time before she would be forced to leave. If it was true if her family behind this she would never be welcomed back into the kingdom. The thought of saying goodbye to Elias filled her with a deep sorrow but he would never have to know that for if she was truly honest then she would just end up breaking both of their hearts. She couldn't bear to see Elias in pain ever again and perhaps it was for the best if she left quietly after she was questioned. But she knew that the silent goodbyes were always the most painful and left the most heartbreak.
    ❥Persephone Galathynius
     [I feel physically ill just thinking about them Dx]
    Persephone went and slid onto a bench for a while, getting herself to calm down, though she still wanted to go lay in her servants bed for a while. The thought of packing what she had and leaving started sounding like a better option the more she thought about it. She blinked and glanced up though, when there was a shadow blocking the light, and someone asking if she was okay. Persephone squinted up, seeing it was Peter, and she nearly jumped up and threw her arms around him. Persephone held back though, reminding herself they were no longer in the dark, or outside the kingdom. This only made her feel worse, that the one person she needed right now, they couldn't do anything in public. Persephone stood up and curtsied before him, because that was how she was supposed to act in front of royalty. She kept her head down too. "No," she whispered in reponse. "I went to find work to do and they wanted me to clean the blood off the floor," she said with a sad laugh, and reached up, trying to make it look like she was rubbing her eyes when really it was wiping her tears. "Can we go somewhere and talk? Please? Just us. I can't.
    ." She paused and finally looked up at him. "I need you right now," Persephone brought her arms up to hug herself, glancing around a few times to make sure no one as eavesdropping. "You can tell me how Elias is, too," she added quietly, and fidgeted so much right then. Her hands were still shaking, but she had them hidden between her crossed arms so he wouldn't see how bad this was. God how she wished she was anything but a servant right now.
    ❥Elias Whitethorn
     Elias turned his gaze to Violet when he heard her voice, and it took all he had not to grin or smile yet, or show his feelings. Instead he tried to look bored. "I'd much rather see my brother first, but alright. Check her for weapons," he told the guards, and they started to, "Gently," Elias hissed through clenched teeth, and the guards listened. Once she was cleared they let her in the room. His expression immediately changed, and he smiled, eyes shining - clearly so so glad to see her. He heard her ask how he was but he didn't reply just yet, he quickly brought her into a tight embrace, though it hurt his shoulder a bit. Elias didn't care - this was Violet. Elias held her for a long time, because he almost died and he almost never got to see her again. "I'm okay, I'm fine. Everything is a little sore but I'll live," he chuckled as he pulled away and then started checking out her shoulder, remembering she got hurt too. "We might have matching scars," he smiled at this thought. "I have so much I need to tell you, Violet I-" he paused when he finally looked at her face, and her expression. She looked sad - and yet guarded. "What's going on? Did you speak to my parents already? Are they sending you away?" he asked, worry and slight fear clear in his gaze. He didn't want her to go, he wanted her here with him. The engagement didn't work out with his brother, but maybe she could marry him? Try to fix this with peace?
    Peter studied her face as she spoke of the blood she saw the other servants cleaning off the floor. He could see the tears in her eyes and his heart ached just thinking of the amount of trauma these events had caused her. When she asked if they could go somewhere and talk he nodded. "Of course," he said softly nearly taking one of her hands before stopping himself knowing full well that anyone could be watching. He wasn't about to jeopardize their relationship after they had been through much together. "Follow me," he motioned as he started walking down the path back the way he had come. He glanced behind him watching Persephone's facial expressions, he also noticed that her hands were shaking badly. He could tell that she was on the verge of sobbing and he knew he had to get her somewhere quickly. As he entered the interior he held the door to the gardens open for her and he prayed that they wouldn't run into any servants or guards. The Prince made his way down the corridor towards his chambers and quickly open up the door ushering Persephone inside (sorry if I sped things up too much). This room was about the only place where he knew that they definitely wouldn't be disturbed. He hoped that Persephone opened up to him because he hated that she had to keep those emotions to herself. Peter wished that he could always be there for her but he knew with his title that things never worked out the way they were suppose to. In fact after this whole mess was over his parents would probably start hunting for a new bride for him. He was determined not to let that happen for he didn't believe that he could ever fall in love with anyone other than Persephone. The Prince wished he could be honest with the King and Queen and tell them how much he cared for Persephone but he knew now was not the right time. The problem was he didn't know if they would ever listen to him if he choose to speak the true feelings of his heart.
    Violet nearly let the tears well up in her eyes once more when she saw the smile on Elias's face. She was so grateful that he was healthy and standing right here before her. When he paused her heart skipped a beat knowing full well that he could read all the emotions playing across her face. She sighed knowing that she would have to tell him her news eventually, "I was just recently notified that I am to be questioned regarding the attack in a few hours," she said quietly remembering the note she had received earlier in the day and how it had been wet with her tears by the time she had finished processing it. "Anyways enough of that. What did you need to tell me?" she asked looking up at him trying to keep her emotions in check this time. She hated how she was such an open book when it came to how she was feeling but then again she couldn't hide anything from Elias. The fae dearly hoped that he wouldn't turn the subject back on her she didn't think she could bear talking about the attack without tearing up again. She desperately needed these last few moments she had with Elias to be happy ones instead of ones filled with her crying on his shoulder once again. The questioning would be held in only a few hours and the feminine knew that somehow she needed to hold herself together for if she revealed any weakness at all the interrogators would pounce. Violet felt her stomach turn into knots at the mere thought of discussing those horrific events once more. The memories constantly plagued her thoughts and also her nightmares. There was hardly a time when they weren't replaying over and over in her head, that was probably the reason why she hadn't slept at all the night before. She hardly knew how long she could keep the walls of her mind up before everything came crumbling down.
    Persephone sighed in relief as he agreed to have them talk privately. She glanced around in concern, slightly worried someone will come yell at her to go back to work. She didn't think she would. Persephone would rather get fired than have to clean up another person's blood off the floor. She'd done it before, but it wasn't when she'd been nearly kidnappes, nearly killed. The memories flashed back and she imagined cleaning up Peter's blood, or the other prince's, or even Violet's. It didn't sit well with her. Persephone kept her head down, trying to look like an obedient servant following the prince for whatever task he had asked just in case they were seen and someone questioned them. Once they were inside his room and the door closed she let her shoulders sag and she let out a breath. "I'm sorry," she apologized. "I'm really sorry I just didn't want to breakdown out there in case it came to that," she looked up at him and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. She was fine after a moment and Persephone kept her gaze away from him, because if she looked at him then he'd know exactly how she was feeling about him, about everything going on. "I hate this," she whispered, then took steps closer to him, placing a hand on his chest lightly. "I hate that I cant turn to you properly when I need you, or even if you needed me," she bit her lip, dropping her hand, and wrapping her arms around him, needing the comfort. "Maybe I should go find work in the village instead. It will make things easier," she meant them not being together - because it was inevitable. It was never going to be them. "I can't stand being in these halls anymore anyways," she rested her forehead against hia chest, and listened, waiting for his thoughts.
    ❥Elias Whitethorn
     Elias didn't like the sound of her having to be interrogated, but he knew it was inevitable. "Peter will most likely have to be present, I want to be too. I won't...I won't let them harm you," he murmured, just in case it had to come to that - executing her, lashing her...something. Elias promised himself he'd keep her safe no matter what. "You've got me on your side, I don't care what my parents say," he said, determined, the look in his eyes reflecting that. She asked then about what he was going to tell her, and Elias paused. It seemed so irrelevant now, with what she was going to have to go through in a little while. A part of him knew that this might be the last time to get to see her, but the other half of him was going to do everything he could to make sure that wasn't the case. Elias wanted to see her as much as he could, day after day. It didn't seem likely. "It's not important," he shook his head. Something was wrong, definitely, and he wasn't saying a word to her about it. She was holding something back from him, putting on a mask. Elias let his hands rest on both side of her cheeks, rubbing them softly with his thumb. "Please tell me what's going on up there?" he asked gently, looking at her forehead as he asked, stepping closer. "I'm worried about you, please talk to me," he added quietly, eyes practically begging him for the truth. "It's not too late to run away, you know," he added with a touch of a smile on his lips.
    Peter frowned when she mentioned how much she hated the situation they were in now. He in fact hated it to. He hated that she was not the first he woke up to in the morning and he hated that he couldn't always be there for her when she needed him the most. "I hate this too," he said quietly wrapping his strong arms around her and pulling her in close. He never wanted to let go, right now she felt like the most fragile thing in the world to him. It was as if one wrong word and she would shatter. As she rested her head against his chest, he gently placed a kiss on top of her head. "I know you can't stand it but I promise that I have a plan, and it doesn't involve you leaving," he said with a small smile. He knew it was probably wrong to give her even the tiniest of hope but he felt as she deserved it after all he had put her through. The Prince knew that she would ask questions but for now he could give no answers. All he needed to was wait patiently for the situation with Violet to calm down before he told his parents of his love for Persephone. He honestly could care less about their opinions and he hoped they had it in their hearts to be happy for him. Of course his father would disapprove because it was an "advantageous" marriage but he wished his father would learn that times were changing. Peter hoped that the days were gone where he would be forced into another emotionless marriage. He wanted to be with the woman he loved and not hide it from the world as if it was some sort of crime. He dearly hoped that he wasn't making too hasty of a decision for once the news was out that they were together all attention would shift to Persephone. The thought of her being in such a harsh limelight scared the h*ll out of him but he knew she would handle it with dignity and grace as she always did. He had known from the moment he had laid eyes on her at the ball at she was the kind of person that only came once in a lifetime and he wasn't about to let her go. If his parents agreed he only hoped that Persephone agreed in turn. He could completely understand if she wanted turn away from him and away from the duty of being with him but he hoped in his heart that she would accept him. For if she didn't he feared that he could never obtain that sort of love ever again in his lifetime. He refused to become like his forefathers with only bitterness and regrets in his wake.
    When he mentioned the interrogation that was in a few hours, her heart seized in her chest once again. "Elias, I appreciate you wanting to support but I'm going to have to do this alone," she said softly as he mentioned coming with her to the interrogation. She was grateful for his support but she knew that if he was there she would not be able to hold herself together in front of the council. Just looking at him now made the memories of the attack come up once again, she had to go into the questioning with a clear head or she feared it would be just be a slippery slope downwards. His determination gave her strength that somehow she would make it out of this unharmed but with the events of the attack she hardly doubted it. It didn't help either that the council would probably be all of the people in the King and Queen's service who would be quick to accuse her. After all she was simply a stranger to them, a stranger with innocent blood on her hands. She closed her eyes for a moment as his hands cupped her face trying to take in his touch so that she could remember it when they were miles away from each other. Her eyes snapped open as he spoke, the worry on his face apparent. "Please don't worry about me, I-i want these last few moments we have together to be happy ones," she said her words sounding strangled as she struggled to contain her emotions. A sad smile spread across her when he mentioned running away, "I'm afraid it's a little late for that," she said softly wishing that they could turn back the clock.
    ❥Persephone Galathynius
    The sound of his heartbeat was calming to her, in a way. Guaranteed it was a little faster than normal, and it got a smile out of her. She listened to that, and then his arms finally wrapping around her calmed her even further, and she quieted. Persephone was glad to hear he hated it too. It meant he did care. She had no idea how much, they hadn't exactly said it out loud before.
    Her head lifted a bit to look at him, questioningly as he mentioned a plan. "I'm guessing I can't know much about this plan?" she asked, staring up at him. "But okay, I trust you," she murmured and sighed, burying her face back in his neck, grip tightening. Persephone did not want to leave the room any time soon. Moments like this were so precious. "I care about you so much Peter," she murmured. The young woman had to admit, she'd never thought to think of herself as queen. When she imagined her and Peter actually being together. She just pictured them, no titles, as if it could be that easy. Her being queen just seemed so...laughable. What did she have to offer the kingdom? But Persephone supposed if he asked, she'd do it, just because it meant getting to be with him. "How's Elias? How are you after everything? What's going to happen to Violet?" she shifted the conversation to focus on him, rather than constantly on herself. She stepped back and wiped her eyes. Persephone was not used to being this weak, she was always strong. But the other night broke something inside of her.
    ❥Elias Whitethorn
     A stubborn look crossed Elias's face as she asked him not to be there. It hurt, because all he wanted to do was support her. Maybe if he went to his parents now and talked to them about it...no. They never really cared about the second son. Heck they hadn't checked in once on him. He closed his eyes tightly, thinking about that. He told himself they were busy, they had a kingdom to calm down. But..no word from his mother ? His father? Peter was the next person he wanted to talk to at least.
    He had been about to object when she told him not to worry, but her words really hit him then. Elias'a hands were gone from her face. I want these last few moments we have together to be happy ones she said. Last few moments. Elias shook his head and had to sit down in a nearby chair in his room, the thought of this too much, of never getting to see her again. "No," he murmured quietly. "Don't say things like that," his voice was hoarse, "We can still run, it's not too late. Violet we can be happy somewhere," he looked up at her, eyes sad yet there was hope there too. "I have lived a dull, emotionless life before you came. I was a terrible person. But with you here I'm happy, I want to be better. I can't let you go, we can figure something out," he was practically begging, trying to save the heartbreak.
    (Thanks! They are nearly over so I should be active more :D )
    Peter held her tight against his chest as she mentioned how much she cared about him. Just those words made euphoria permeate his brain, although she hadn't used the word love it was gratifying to know that she cared for him as much as he did her. He knew there would come time soon where he could tell Persephone he truly loved her and not care whether it was in the interests of the kingdom or not. The Prince knew that by declaring his affections he was pushing Persephone into spotlight but he could honestly find that there was no other way for he wasn't about to lose her just because the position of a ruler was rigorous. His light optics shifted to her face as she began to ask questions. "Elias? Well I actually don't know how he is yet because I saw Violet going towards his room earlier so I figured I'd wait. As for myself I'm feeling as good as I'll ever be," he said with a light smile. He tried not to let his mind drift to the events of the previous night, he had cast the dark memories into the far reaches of his mind. Honestly, he prefered not to discuss the events but he knew would have to soon when Violet was to be questioned. He cursed the fact that he would have to relive that agonizing night once more but he couldn't avoid for the tribunal would need eyewitness accounts. "I honestly don't know what is going to happen to Violet, she is to be questioned today," he said his face suddenly growing serious, he hated the fact that Violet was put in such a predicament when none of it seemed her fault. Personally, he believed that she was innocent but his parents obviously did not and for them a simple sigil was all they needed to condemn Violet to exile or even worse her death. His thoughts drifted back to the present as Persephone pulled away from him wiping her eyes. "Don't cry. I'm right here for you," he said softly taking one of her hands in his to show that he was there for her and that he would always be there for her no matter what the circumstances. If they survived that dreadful night, Peter was fully confident that they could survive anything. Peter couldn't help but notice the haunted look in Persephone's eyes as if there was something broken inside of her that could never quite be mended. He hoped that she knew that she could open up to him, she already partially had but the Prince could tell there were things left to say.
    As he pulled away pain flashed in Violet's eye as she watched him the misery written all over his face. She desperately wished she could go to him but something was stopping her. Perhaps it was the fact that her fate that once seemed so clear was turning dark and cloudy. As he spoke her heartbeat intensified in her chest and tears soon began to well up once more as he spoke of being a better man because of her. Those words hit her like the force of the hurricane and just by the haunted look in his eyes she could tell how much he didn't want to let her go. She didn't want to let go either but what was she to do? A tear spilled down her cheek as she paused thinking carefully of the thoughts she was about to articulate. "Elias, I know we could be happy but I cannot fathom to think of happiness now when I hardly know if I'll see again after this day," said Violet struggling to voice her words. "Ever since that night at the ball, I knew I cared for you. Even when you revealed your true identity my resolve for you hardly changed. It hurts me to think that you think of yourself as a terrible person when I know you are not. You are the most courageous, selfless, kind-hearted man I have ever had the privilege of meeting. You're are the one person in the world who has made truly feel the meaning of joy in life. But with the good times also come the bad. I wish that we could figure things out but I can't seem to see the dark clouds looming on the horizon. Elias, I'm trapped by the fact that by being related to those wretched men that there is blood on my hands. I-i want a future for you that it is better than that. I don't want you to feel ashamed in the fact that you cared for a tarnished woman like myself. I know you can't let go and I don't want to either but love is sacrifice. And this is a sacrifice that I need to make," said the fae softly the tears falling faster down her face as she let the silence stretch between them. She knew that Elias probably despised her now but she knew from the beginning of the conversation that the heartbreak could not have been avoided. She forced herself to look at Elias tears blurring her vision as she waited for the words that he was about to say. Every moment stretching between them like knives in her heart.
    ❥Persephone Galathynius
    [Once it's over it feels good. Sosogood]
    Persephone wasn't sure she was ready to use the word love yet, she wasn't even fully sure how she felt. They'd only gotten stolen moments here and there; that was their relationship. Of course she wanted more, but it wasn't possible right then, it might never be possible. Persephone hoped somehow things could change, shed do just about anything for him if he asked. He'd tried to protect her the other night, when everything went to hell and she wasn't going to forget that. Persephone listened to him explain about Elias - not knowing exactly how he was because he was letting Violet see him. "They love each other don't they? I could see it in their eyes," she commented, and glanced around his room, curiously. She'd been in there before to clean. It still felt private though, as if she shouldn't be in there. "I'm glad you're okay though," she replied to him, returning his smile, before letting her gaze drop to the floor as he answered her about Violet. "This is a terrible situation. I have no idea what the kingdom is going to do. I thought we were already going to war, now another kingdom too? I hope your father doesn't send you out there to fight," she frowned, worried he might be sent to the battlefield, and die out there. She shook her head at the thoughts. "I'm not crying, I'm just wiping my eyes from the previous crying. I think I'm okay now," she gave him a grateful look though, for saying he was there, and it also said that she was there for him too. She let out a deep sigh, getting the last of her sad, depressed feelings out, holding onto his hand tightly. Persephone most likely had to leave soon, if she wasn't already fired for running off. She still couldn't bring herself to leave just yet. "I'm sure Elias is okay. Come find me later, if you need someone after what will happen today," she squeezed his hand.
    ❥Elias Whitethorn
     Elias sat there, willing himself not to cry, not to be weak over this. But when he saw her own tears he couldn't help himself, they filled up his eyes and he had to keep blinking to make it stop, so he could see her. Elias absolutelty hated this. He was so naive, so foolish to think that everything would be fine after that attack. That Violet would be pardoned and the two of them could be happy together. Wishful, stupid wishful thinking. He felt like a complete idiot. He let out a choked noise as she began to speak of him, praise him for being a good man despite him thinking he was never good. He just hated that she thought so lowly of herself as well, and the fact she saw no light after what was coming. It broke him she was going to remain so negative about it. Elias wanted to believe they were all going to make it out okay. "There is no future of mine without you in it. And Violet you're not tarnished," he spoke, pain in his voice thick as he raised his green gaze (idk if I keep changing his eye color) to hers, staring at her intently. "You had nothing to do with these attacks. You are your own person, and it wrecks me that no one got to see that but me," he huffed, taking a deep breath. Emotions were running through him like a river, a warerfall. They were all coming crashing down at that moment. Anger, sadness, love, despair. He was quiet for a long time as she spoke of sacrifices, and what she needed to do. He glanced up at the ceiling for a long time as she cried, and as he wiped at his own tears, calming himself. Elias would be strong for her, she needed him now. "Alright. I won't argue with you. I just wish things were different," he eventually looked back at her, tears filling her eyes more rapidly. His heart was breaking yes, but they still had some time, between now and then, and maybe he could make her smile one last time. "You're still beautiful, even now," Elias murmured and stood up, "There's one thing I need to do before you go," without hesitating at all - slipping an arm around her and bringing his lips to hers, gently at first before he couldn't hold back how much he loved her and he pressed harder. He didn't care about her tears, or his own, or anything. They both needed this brief moment of joy.
    "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind," he said with a light smile giving her hand a squeeze in return. "Also, if anyone asks why you were gone just tell them that you were helping me," said the Prince with a grin as he sat down in one of the plush chairs by the fire. It would only be a matter of time before the trial started and Peter knew he would be summoned at any moment to testify. The thought of speaking about the previous night's events terrified him for he hadn't even processed them fully himself yet it had to be done. He knew his truths would inevitably keep Violet safe or at least allow her to return to her own kingdom without harm. Then again his parents seemed to be out for blood, after the massacre people had been looking to pin the blame on somebody, anybody really and who better than the foreign princess whose sigil happened to be the same one as the attackers. Peter felt a rush of sympathy towards Violet knowing that her duty was certainly not easy. In the end he hoped that the people of the jury saw the truth and that Violet was just as innocent as the rest of them. It seemed like a sin to condemn a girl who had helped saved his brother's life. His thoughts shifted to the events that had occurred between his brother and Violet. When he and Persephone had found them in the tunnels, Violet had been quite protective of Elias as he was of her. Peter knew at that moment that what they had was certainly more than a simple friendship. But if things were serious he wondered just how far is brother would go to protect the girl he cared for or possibly even loved. He dearly hoped that Elias wouldn't put himself in harm's way just to save Violet from a harsh sentence. Peter himself believed Violet to be truly innocent but there was a point in the trial where testifying was all that you could do. He would do everything in his power to keep her from harm but at the end of the day the King's word was law and there was no one who could change that.
    As Elias's lips met hers, her body tensed for a moment in surprise but then she felt herself relax as if a weight was lifted from her shoulders. Just by kissing him al the emotions flooded over her as she let go of all her feelings of misery,frustration, and hopelessness. She never wanted the moment end, she wished she could just stay in his arms forever and not have to worry about the future that lay ahead. The fae wished she could tell him how much this kiss gave her hope that perhaps that there was a light in the darkness, this simple action allowed a faint flicker of hope to bloom in her chest and she knew Elias felt it too. At last she broke away from the kiss, her eyes madly searching his as she felt the blood rush to her cheeks. "I love you," she said softly not realizing the words she had spoken before they came off her lips. If there was any worse time to profess her love it was in this moment but Violet couldn't help herself because after all this time of bottling up her emotions she finally allowed herself the freedom of speaking her mind. She knew that words like that could never be taken back and she didn't plan to. Perhaps it was cruel to say such a thing to Elias when she had just spoke to him about sacrifices but she would rather have them part on words of love rather than words of pain. She would have said a thousand words more when there came a knock at the door. "Your highness it is time for the trial," called a gruff voice that could only come from one of the knights. Violet felt a coil of fear being wound up in the pit of her stomach as she heard those words and suddenly her mind was forced back to reality. How she wished for one moment longer to stay wrapped up in her own fool's paradise but of course all good things must come to an end. With shaking hands she smoothed her dress as she prepared herself for the ordeal that was to come. She carefully wiped the remnants of the tears from her face trying to stay calm despite the tempest inside her mind.
    Persephone smiled as he squeezed her hand back. She did chuckle as he told her what to say if anyone asks. "They believed that once, not sure if they'll believe it again. They're too scared to ask you for the truth," she grinned, watching him go and sit down in a chair by the fire. Persephone followed only to give his temple a kiss, and then she headed out towards the door, feeling a little better than before, she was just dreading having to return to mundane servant duties. She was most definitely heading to the kitchens though and not back to mopping up blood. Persephone paused though, glancing back at him again - Peter was lost in thought, staring intently off into the distance. She should stay, ask him how he was feeling...Persephone had come crying to him, and she had only somewhat asked about him. The young woman turned to stay for a little longer, but there was a knock at the door, a guard saying he was going to be needed in the throne room. Panicking, Persephone went over to his bed quickly and pulled off the sheets, searching for an excuse to have been in there. She pulled open the door, the bundle of sheets in her arms, and gave the guard a nod before slipping out and heading down the hall quickly. She hoped it just looked like she was cleaning his room and not anything else at all - completely harmless. She dropped that off with the women who cleaned the laundry and notified them the prince needed a new one before hurrying down to the kitchens in search of work elsewhere. They gave her something to do immediately - washing the fruits and vegetables.
    ❥Elias Whitethorn
    Elias pulled her a little closer while they kissed, so glad she didn't pull away but seemed to return the feeling. He hadn't planned on doing this now - hadn't planned on making a move so soon. Of course he'd hoped they'd get more time to spend together. He didn't regret kissing her though; it had felt necessary in that moment. Elias felt like his chest was going to burst - he'd never ever felt so much for a person before. It was intoxicating and he loved it and wanted more. He let out a noise of complaint when she eventually pulled away, though he knew she had to. Violet had probably been in his room a little too long anyways.
    However, Elias was not expecting those words to come out of her mouth. She loved him. His pupils widened and he stated down at her, completely speechless. Elias had thought he'd be the one to say that before she left, but instead she'd beaten him to it. And he wasn't feeling sad at all, that they might not see each other after today. Elias was merely happy he'd found this kind of happiness. "I love you too," he said, and knew there was so much more they had to say to each other but they were interrupted by the guard at the door. He sighed, some of the realization coming back of what she was about to go through. Elias helped her out with her appearance, wiping her tears as well, and smoothing down her hair since he might have teased it during their kiss. She could pass by the guards if maybe she ducked her head. "It's going to be okay," he tried to be positive, and gave her another small kiss before heading over to the door and opening it up for her, giving the guard a nod. His face had changed - a mask, he looked annoyed, almost pissed he'd had to talk to Violet. Once she had left he put on decent clothes and hurried down to his brothers room to see if he was there and hadn't gone to the throne room. He knocked with his good arm frantically. Elias should be resting but he ... he just wanted to make sure Peter knew Violet was innocent. Or at least believed it.
  • Before I post I just wanted to plot some more. What do you think the outcome of the trial should be? Also, I might be inactive for these next couple of days due to a family vacation.
    Peter's thoughts snapped back to reality as he heard one of the guards opening the door. He glanced over in a panic at Persephone only to see her scrambling to pull some of the sheets off his bed. The Prince was grateful that she had been the quick-thinking one. He wistfully watched her leave wishing he could gather her up in his arms one last time but he knew he had to keep their relationship a secret at least until it became official. With mention of the throne Peter quickened his step as he gave a nod to the guard before hurrying down the hall towards where the throne room lay. The time had begun for the trial and Peter already felt the tension as he entered the room. He was met with the sight of unfamiliar faces, people he only assumed to be the jury. The Prince quickly spotted his mother and father in their place on the thrones and he hurried over to them noticing their heads bowed in deep conversation. The jury it seemed was all for show for he and everyone else knew who would be making the final decision. Even his mother no matter what she said could go against his father's decision. He sat in one of the chairs set out of witnesses as he gave his mother and father a few polite greetings which they hardly heard judging by the heat of the their conversation. Peter sighed wanting everything to be over with. He couldn't help but wonder if Elias would come to the trial also, he knew his brother probably would even if Violet begged him not to. Peter anxiously watched the doors for any sign of Violet's arrival. If he was nervous, he couldn't imagine how she must be feeling right now. His thoughts drifted to Persephone once again, he would be thankful when all was this was over so that he could finally break the news to his parents about asking for Persephone's hand in marriage. The trial couldn't be over soon enough.
    As Violet passed by the guard she dared not look back at Elias once more in fear of the guard noticing something between them. She attempted to fill her head with positive thoughts but a tempest of doubt soon clouded her mind. The fae forced herself to walk towards the throne room, her hands shaking as she moved to tuck a strand of her dark hair behind her ear. She hated that she was so nervous that she didn't not give off the demeanor of a commanding princess but it seemed a little late to try and make herself someone she was certainly not. It seemed like eternity before she paused before the golden throne room doors. She knew she had to stay calm for one sign of weakness could send her off to the executioner in a matter of seconds. Even a fool could tell that the King and Queen were out for blood, and she knew they would stop at nothing to get it. Her only hope would be Peter's testimony and even with all the animosity between them she hoped he knew that she took no part in this massacre. She dearly hoped that Elias wouldn't come to watch either, she couldn't bear to look at his face without breaking her facade of a calm demeanor. Violet paused and took a deep breath before opening the doors to the throne room. The room was alive with chatter as she entered the premise but the spectators soon fell silent as she took her place on the witness stand. She could feel their the court's murderous burning through her, her light eyes scanning the crowd for a familiar face until they came to rest on Peter. As their eyes met he gave her a reassuring smile which she hoped meant that the situation would turn in her favor. She couldn't hardly tell for his voice was one against many. Her calm demeanor nearly broke as she spotted the King and Queen perched upon their golden thrones staring at her with their cold, emotionless eyes. The sight of them sent shivers down her spine as she forced herself to remain focused on the task at hand. (I'm going to timeskip through the trial a little bit if that's okay with you?) Time passed as many of the guards and maids gave their statements about the attackers and all the events that transpired. Violet silently paid attention to each one but she immediately perked up when Peter was called to the witness stand. She held her breath as he spoke hoping for the best. When he gave his testimony he spoke with eloquence. She admired how calm he was before the jury as he spoke of the events that happened and how they were nearly taken captive. As he gave his closing statement, she couldn't help but feel a swell of gratitude as he spoke of her innocence and how she did nothing but good in the wake of these malicious acts. Once his statement was over she let out a breath she hadn't realized that she was holding. After all the statements had been finished it came to deliberate, a period where the jury would discuss then present their opinions to the King and Queen for the final outcome of the tribunal. As Violet watched them deliberate her stomach twisted in knots as she forced herself not to think of the worst. She had to remain positive if not for herself then Elias. As jury stood up she felt her heart skip a beat as they made their way over to the King and Queen to figure out the final decision. Everyone rose as the King and Queen stood to make their judgements. "I take you all for coming and partaking in this event. After a great amount of thought I have arrived a decision," said the King his tone giving no hint of emotion as he spoke. The man paused before continuing, "We have found Princess Violet Carrage not guilty on accounts of treason and murder. Even so she goes without punishment we longer welcome her on our lands and she is hereby banished to her homelands and will never be allowed to step foot in this kingdom ever again," stated the King his tone one of finality. As Violet heard these words she nearly let the bittersweet tears slip down her pale cheeks. So there was truly a light at the end of the tunnel, she could only hope that even so she was banished she would be allowed to see Elias once again. She wished that she wouldn't have to say goodbye to Elias yet again but she knew she had to go as not to encroach on the King's good graces. A feeling of deep gratitude bloomed in her chest towards Peter, Elias, and even the King and Queen for she was alive and that simple feat was all that mattered for now.
    [Persephone's is just gonna be short because there's really not much she could do]
    The rest of the servants and maids and what not had started whispering when the doors to the throne room or wherever they were holding the trial closed up. They started sharing their own opinions about what was going on. Some of them started to bash the princess and Persephone spoke up. "I was nearly kidnapped by the guards with the princess. She was taken to be tied up too, she's completely innocent and had nothing to do with the attack," she said defiantly. Some of the others looked at her and snorted, disbelieving her. But one of them came over and asked if it was really true. Persephone told her it was, and made it seem like she'd accidentally stumbled upon the group of royals and was caught up in everything, leaving the parts out about her and Peter, as well as Violet and Elias. Those were secrets she knew not to tell. After that, she merely went back to cleaning, and then once everything was done in the kitchens, she moved onto helping clean the bedrooms. No blood, she refused to clean up any blood. In the meantime she really worried about Peter, and even Violet too - she couldn't imagine what was going to happen. It was all so complicated and she sighed.
    ❥Elias Whitethorn
    Peter wasnt in his room when Elias knocked and he swore. He was so tired, he wanted to go back in his room but there was absolutely no way he was going to miss this trial. But at the same time, he knew how hard it would be for Violet if he actually was in the same room as her. So he respected her wishes, but did go ahead and listen in, where he once showed her sometimes he spied on meetings. He stood there, peering in, listening the whole time. Most of it was irrelevant, he just wanted to hear what his brother had to say. A relieved sigh came from him as Peter spoke of her positively and truthfully. Oh boy he owed his brother big time. The past few years he'd been so bitter, so upset that Peter had been in the spotlight that he'd come to resent him. But it wasn't Peter's fault, it was his parents. Elias definitely needed to apologize or something.
    It was agony waiting for the final decision. When they said she was found not guilty, he was ready to cheer and scream happily- but the next words? Elias leaned against the wall with a groan. No...no he couldn't not see her again! He couldn't bear it. She'd go off, marry someone else and he'd never see her again. Elias didn't want the first woman he'd ever come to love, his first real potential relationship to end so quickly. Maybe...maybe he could convince his parents to let him accompany her? Or just go along to the court to understand what had happened...? Elias needed an excuse to go with her. He couldn't wither in this castle alone. He moved through the secret passageways then, getting to Violet's room to wait for her, impatiently.
    Peter lingered in the trial room a while longer as the jury and all the witnesses exited the premise. He allowed himself a sigh of relief as he stood up from where he had been sitting. He was extremely grateful that the trial had not ended in an execution, even though Violet was exiled at least she would be safe. Honestly he wished her all the best, the main thing he was concerned about was how Elias was going to take the news. Besides that he also had to figure out when the best time was to ask his parents about asking for Persephone's hand in marriage. He knew they couldn't just run away and elope because then his parents certainly wouldn't agree to it. Perhaps if he could have them meet Persephone over dinner she could certainly win them over. He hated the fact that it would be a rather large amount of pressure on her part but if she wanted to be Queen he knew that they would have to meet eventually. Peter casually walked over to his parents where they sat trying to keep calm as not to reveal his true plans. "Father, mother, I was thinking since today has been such a strenuous day on us all just the three of us could have dinner plus there is someone I would like you to meet," he said with a winning smile knowing his mother or his father wouldn't resist a cheerful family meal after such a emotional day. His mother was the one who spoke first, "Well, I suppose it would do us some good. Who is this someone you would like us to meet?" she asked one hand kneading her temple as if she had a headache coming on. The Prince forced himself to remain nonchalant about the matter, "Just a women I have been corresponding with, she was in the kingdom this week so I naturally extended an invitation for her to come by," he said lying smoothly. He knew it wasn't the truth at all but hopefully it would be enough to satiate his parents for the time being. With this dinner he could introduce Persephone to his parents and also allow Elias time to say goodbye to Violet once more. As mother paused in her answer Peter held his breath but only when she gave her approval did allow his breath to be released. "Thank you, I'll see you at dinner," he said quickly to both of them as he walked out of the throne room eager to find Persephone. He could only hope she would be glad about the news he had to tell her. He knew that she would be nervous but he hoped she knew that he would there at her side the entire time. Peter made his way upstairs looking through the halls for any sight of her when finally he caught a glimpse of her cleaning one of the bedrooms. He hurriedly made way inside and shut the door so no one could eavesdrop on their conversation. "Persephone, I'll tell you all about the trial later but for now I have news. You, me, and my parents are going to have dinner together tonight," he said with a smile wondering how she would accept the news. He watched her carefully to see what emotions played over her face.
    After the trial was over Violet made her way to her room as fast as she possibly could. She could tell whether she wanted to laugh or cry as she hurriedly opened her door with shaking hands. As soon as she made her way she shut the door loudly behind her jumping a bit when she saw Elias standing in the room. "Elias, I hadn't realized you were coming. I suppose you have heard the news?" she asked gathering that he probably had been listening with the help of the secret passageways that he had shown her. Even if he hadn't been in the trial room she was glad that he had been there even if she couldn't seen him. The fae moved to where he closet was as she began opening it and taking out all of her clothes she had brought then neatly setting them on the bed. Her hands shook as she struggled to open her jewelry case but she soon gave up letting her fray nerves win as she sank down in one of the chairs by the fire. She still couldn't believe the outcome of the trial plus that the King and Queen had allowed her to live. She was extremely grateful for their mercy and also for Elias's support. Without his hopeful words she hardly knew it would have gotten through the trial alone. The fae hated the fact that they would have to say their goodbyes all over again in the same day since she had been exiled. It pained her that she might never see Elias again but she understood that he couldn't possibly visit her exile. She turned towards him trying to read any emotions on his face. "Oh Elias, I thought saying goodbye the first would be hard but it seems the second time is even harder. Please tell me this isn't goodbye," she said standing up from her seat to face him conflicting emotions mirrored in her eyes.
