Arin honestly wasn't exactly in the best state to care whether or not Alex was returning. He was sure the other man was tired anyways, they obviously both were. Anyways, he didn't get to fall asleep or anything before there was a knock at the door. With a yawn, Arin rolled on his back. "Come in," he mumbled and moved to sit up. It was only Laia as she entered. She had a bandage on her arm and she chuckled at him, before heading over and sitting down beside him. "I was coming to check on you, Alex too and see how you were doing," she said and reached out to ruffle his hair. "You look tired, but mostly okay. How's he?" she motioned to the door, meaning Alex.

Arin pushed away her hand from his hair with an eye roll. "He was pretty bad last night and this morning, but he soaked in the baths for a whIle and he's alright now. I'll probably check on him in a moment but I wanted to ... sleep.." he laughed. Laia nodded, listening to him. "Well good, I'm glad you're both okay. In a few hours up and outside we're going to celebrate our victory. It's also a holiday for us fae," she pat his hand. "Hopefully you two won't be too tired and can have some fun before you head out," she suggested. Arin nodded and then Laia left.

Arin got up then and glanced around, before walking over to his bag of things. He pulled out a circular mirror and then waited patiently, for the princess to get the mirror on her end. She did, and the princess looked relieved to see Arin. She demanded a million questions, and he told her he was okay, what was going on, etc. He said when he was expected to be back and that she should stay safe and be careful. Then Arin slipped the mirror back in his bag and got up, going across the hall, quietly letting himself into Alex's room. The sorcerer saw that Alex was all comfortable and looked asleepx so he hovered near the door unsure if he should head back to his own room.

Alex heard the door open and close and waited for a voice to come but it never did. There was no voice talking to him but neither did the door sound again so he had to speak. "Still awake" he called out voice muffled slightly by the pillow but it was still easy to understand what he said. He did not bother to move, he was comfortable the way he was, well he did turn his head so he could speak easier. "I'm probably not gonna fall asleep any time soon either so don't worry about bothering me." with that he actually did roll over and push himself up so he was sitting a small yawn pulling at his lips. As he had thought, Arin was standing by the door looking adorably bashful. He pushed that thought from his head and offered a small smile to the male wondering what he wanted to say. He shifted again so Arin had room to come sit if he wanted to.

Finally getting impatient of waiting, though it had not even been that long, he spoke first keeping his tone nice. "Is there something you wanted to talk about? Or say?" he said with a small smirk that said 'maybe you're here for something else.' He always had to lighten the mood with odd flirtatious humor even if it was not directly spoken. He reached up to drag his hand through the still damp curls the water making the dark brown color look near black. Again he offered a little smile letting his hands fall back down as he looked over Arin. He was attractive yes but there was a lot of other good things about him as well, some doubling as bad. At least he seemed to care, about Alex's own well being. About if he was hurt and how to try and help, that did not happen often. Alex pushed the fond thoughts from his head realizing he was walking back towards that cliff he did not want to fall off of.

Arin blinked and glanced over as he said he was still awake, though it was muffled. "Okay.." he said when he added on that he probably wouldn't be falling asleep any time soon. "You should sleep though, take a nap," he told Alex as he walked over while the man shifted for him to sit down. Arin sat down at the other end of the bed though, by Alex's feet so he could face him. He rubbed his eyes and yawned a little, being quiet and unsure of himself at the moment. He didn't have to come in here, he probably should have just left Alex alone to sleep. When Alex asked him why he was in there he shrugged and stared down at his hands in his lap.

"Laia stopped by to check on us was all. She wanted to know how we were doing. And then I talked to the princess too, via this magic mirror I have and she was curious about you too, since you've joined me and all," Arin reached up to rub his temples. His headache had not gone away yet since the day before. "And I didn't really get to see how well the bath healed you so I was making sure you were ... well not dead," he chuckled. He hadn't missed the tease, of Alex asking him if there was anything he wanted to say. Well of course there were a lot of things, but this wasn't the best time for that, now was it? "Oh and the fae are celebrating their victory outside above later, Laia said if we weren't too tired to come join," he motioned to the ceiling when mentioning the celebration. Then the sorcerer closed his eyes as he sat there, sighing.

Alex let out a little chuckle at the request for him to sleep, as if he had not been trying. He did not blame the other male for keeping him awake, he knew no matter how hard he tried he would not fall asleep for a bit but he still wanted to be comfortable and comfortable right now in his head was wrapping his arms around Arin. and falling asleep like that. He pushed that thought out of his head, he really has been getting off topic about that recently, and spoke with tired words. "I'm trying I'm trying" Alex grinned at the other male and his next words, about him being dead and all. "Charming, you think I'd die on you now? After vowing to annoy you the whole 'quest.' You can't get out of it that easy" he said with a chuckle moving forward to bat Arin's shoulder before laying back in his seat with little sigh. He pressed his hands to his face letting them fall when Arin started speaking again, he was that odd mix of awake and exhausted that made it so all you want to do is sleep but you can't. It is one of the worst feelings in the world.

It took him a moment to process the next words and he smiled again sinking down into the covers "Well seeing as it's not mandatory let's see what state we're in when it starts." he signaled that Arin should lay next to him even though he knew laying around him would be a bad idea if Arin confronted him on all the mood switches. Alex got honest when he was tired. He turned so he was back in the same position as before this time his cheek on the pillow so he could see if the other male was going to lay down or not. He did want to make sure that he slept even if Alex could not. He also knew having the male beside him when they slept would mean waking up tangled up in him because that is what always happens. He is lucky if he falls asleep and wakes up with just an arm over them, normally he would hug someone to his chest like a toy or something like that but so far that had not happened.

Arin reached up to rub his arms with his hands, slightly cold but not enough for it to be uncomfortable. He shrugged as Alex laughed and said that there was no way he'd be dying now. "I have already said I don't want to get rid of you, I want you around," he rolled his eyes. "And you're lucky I think that," he added, sitting cross legged and leaning forwards a bit. His eyes traveled over the other man's features, and boy did he really look tired. He should have told him to sleep in when he woke up this morning, Alex was obviously so much more tired than Arin was.

At the answer about the celebration, and that they'd have to see what state they're in later. "Fair enough. But it might be nice to ... I don't have something good happen to us," he laughed, and tilted his head as Alex motioned for him to lay next to him. Arin hesitated, debating with himself if that was a good idea. He wasn't planning on staying in Alex's room before, but now he didn't feel like leaving. With a small sigh, Arin moved to sit next to the other man laying down, moving a pillow and leaning his back against the headboard. "I'm not tired just yet so you head to sleep," he went and moved the blanket over Alex for him. "Not sure if I will sleep. Too much going on up here," he tapped his head.

Well that was annoying. He just gave a little nod and settled back down like he had been before letting his eyes fall shut and trying to cal his racing mind. It was annoying because he wanted to hold the smaller male close to him, annoying because he knew he should not. It probably seemed like he was playing games with him but he wasn't he was trying to figure himself out and trying not to jump of the edge of a cliff and fall because falling is just like flying until you land. Alex bit down on the inside of his cheek to try and distract himself but it was not working, his mind refused to turn off. He turned his face away from the other male stretching himself out a bit more and trying to settle down. Why did Arin have to get to him so much, he wanted to get through with the quest and hopefully that will get the memories of his father to stop haunting him.

He had just lost the only person in the world who cared about him he should not be falling for some sorcerer who showed up at his door telling him about a quest. He needed to get through it and go back to his anvil. That house and those chunks of iron that formed anvil and hammers were all he knew, that was the only life he knew how to lead. Arin grew up noticeably different, he lost a lot and gained a lot but they were different people. He would not be happy living in the small one room shack and Alex would never be in place at the castle so why was he falling. Arin had just lost the man he loved Alex had no right to be trying for his heart, had no right to be playing with him in his own confliction. He let out a silent sigh chewing down on his cheek in his thought.

Arin looked down at the other man, he was facing away, laying on his back. He mostly just watched him for a few moments, frowning to himself. A thought had come to him then. Why was he constantly falling and wanting people he could never have? Lucien would never love him, Laia had mated with someone else (though he was over that now), and now..he didn't know what Alex wanted and he didn't think the other man knew either. Arin crossed his arms there, glancing away from Alex and over at the wall, frustrated. He began making a decision then, to close up again; like he had before. Arin would not let himself be hurt another time.

Arin heard Alex's sigh, and the sorcerer almost did too, but instead he slipped down to lay on his side, facing away from Alex. Only because if he was facing the other man he'd be tempted to cling to him, and Arin needed to stick to keeping his emotions guarded. He fixed the pillow and pulled the blanket over his shoulder and closed his eyes tightly. This was going to be difficult, but if he just focused on the task at hand and what they had to do, he would be alright. But this closeness right now, it was too much. Arin grumbled to himself and got up, off the bed, hurrying towards the door to get away.

Alex smiled when he felt the male slide down to laying next to him, it maintained even after he turned away. He was there after all. Alex had to keep himself in check, not say anything he should not, like how he wanted to wrap the other up in his arms, or how he could not stand seeing the sadness every time he thought about his past, how he hated playing with his emotions while trying to figure himself out. He had to keep himself in check because doing any of the things he wanted to would only be cruel. Doing any of the things he wanted would seal his fate as replacement to the prince. He did not want to be a consolation prize for the other male, sorry you lost your love here's a replacement. He was not asleep, he was not near sleep the way his mind was racing around. He could not sleep with what he was thinking, how he was thinking. All the depressing thoughts and holding himself back made sure he would not slip into darkness.

Alex felt the body shift away then the pressure against the mattress go away all together. He was running and it was because Alex could not make up his mind about what he wanted. "You could at least say bye" Alex muttered to the footsteps rushing towards the door a deep chuckle rising from his chest. He moved to his stomach where he was more comfortable sliding his hands under the pillow. If the other male wanted to leave Alex did not feel he had the right t stop him. To call him back. So he just cuddled into the pillow trying to keep himself silent after that. Like a one night stand sneaking out when whoever was in the bed would not notice. But Arin got it wrong, he had not been asleep and he did not know when he would.

Arin paused at the door when Alex spoke to him, saying he could have at least said goodbye. He had thought maybe the other man was asleep, and he wouldn't have felt him get up. The sorcerer leaned his head against the wall by the door, closing his eyes for a moment, hand on the doorknob. "Goodnight, Alex," he said instead, his voice breaking into a whisper halfway through, and then he exited, the door closing harder than he wanted it to. He stared at his own door across the hall, but instead just slid down to the floor sighing and hugging his knees to his chest. Perhaps Arin didn't need to leave so abruptly, he probably should have spoken to Alex instead, but for some reason that wasn't a conversation he wanted to have just yet. It wasnt the right time, not with everything going on.

Arin grumbled and leaned his head back on the wall, he was next to Alex's door now. A bunch of fae came down the way, carrying some of the wooden benches and tables he'd seen in the grand hall from the celebration last time. Lorcan was one of the fae walking with them and he paused, motioning for the fae to keep going. Arin figured they were bringing all that outside for later. "Everything okay?" Lorcan asked and Arin just shrugged.
"I've gotten myself into a bit of a mess," Arin sighed. "I would say I want to go home and give this all up, but there is no home. I dragged Alex into this and I shouldn't have, I keep doing everything wrong..." he narrowed his eyes and paused, feeling bad for laying all his problems out on Lorcan. Lorcan shook his head and knelt down near Arin.
"Alex would have left by now if he didn't want to do this, you know that. And I can agree that you may have put a lot of responsibility on your head, but doubting yourself is only going to make it worse. Keep your head up, stay strong, and know you've got friends who have your back. Alex, Laia, and me," he reached out and pat the other man's shoulder before motioning back to Arin's room. "Go get some rest, then come have a good time, relax. I think you and Alex need it," he helped the sorcerer to his feet, and Arin glanced back at Alex's door before returning to his own room, curling himself up under the covers. It took him a while but he finally fell asleep. He didn't know how long he slept, but he woke up to the sound of music far off in the distance, and he knew the celebration must have started. He glanced beside him, almost expecting Alex to be there but he remembered he walked out earlier. With a groan, he got to his feet and ran a hand through his hair and shifted for the door to go and see if Alex was okay enough to go get food from above, take Lorcan's advice. He wondered if the other man was going to be mad at him as he knocked on the door.

[I'm sorry it takes me so long to reply, my muse for guys is kinda dead but I wanna give good reply's so it takes longer to write. I'm not an *ss I promise.]
The bed was suddenly a lot colder then it had been before, a lot lonelier, and somehow a lot safer. Well, not somehow he knew exactly why it felt like that. Without the body so close to him he did not have to worry about keeping himself in check. He did not have to worry about further bothering the boy with the constant changes. he had to keep telling himself not to do this, not to do that, don't say this, don't say that. He had to convince himself he was second place, that he was not good enough just to keep from spilling his heart out and getting it stepped on. That was how his life goes. Try and protect yourself but try harder to protect everyone else. He did not want to further break Arin, he wanted to piece the broken heart back together but he only knew how to beat things into shape and that would never work on broken glass. Glass had to be melted and reshaped gently and he did not think he was capable of that. All he has ever been was second choice, ruining himself trying not to ruin others. He let out a sigh, this was why he could not be left alone, because of all the thoughts caught up in a whirlwind of confliction. All the ideas being alone let him form.

He let his eyes fall shut the sound of that voice hiding the emotion (poorly) and the slamming door echoing in his mind. Really no matter what he did it would end up like that. With Arin stomping away and Alex left to think of why he always made the wrong choice. Well eventually he did fall into darkness, it could not be avoided the exhaustion taking over mind and body and letting him have peace for at least a little while. That was the great thing about sleep, it allowed you to be surrounded by darkness with a blank mind giving a rest from the horrors of the waking world. Letting Arin slip out of his head for a couple hours and the constant battery of self destructive thoughts.

He was pulled from the void of sleep at the knocking on the door his arm reaching out only to be met with cloth. Eyes opening and with sluggish movements he sat up and stretched forcing himself awake as he stood and made his way to the door. He had healed some but that did not take away the ache of overworked muscles and pain of the gashes and cuts that had not fully healed. He forced the glimmer of life into the tired eyes and opened the door to see Arin not allowing the expression to change. He was not mad, he was conflicted. Fighting between letting himself go or hoping to safe himself. He let out a hum in greeting before speaking his words soft so they did not sound harsh "What is it?" he asked biting back a yawn. His hand still rested on the door knob ready to close it if he needed to but for now he had his gaze on the smaller male, not examining him like he might have done before just the polite looking of conversation.

[It's alright , your posting pace is fine. it's easier for me with school]

There was really no way anyone could replace Lucien. Arin might have had more than friendly feelings for the other man, he only ever treated Lucien as his best friend, nothing more. Because he'd rather have the man in his life somehow, than torture himself for pining after him. The only reason he was so upset over his friends death is because, well he was family, and he regretted not telling him everything. So, Arin was not looking for someone to fill the void where Lucien had been. No one could do that, not ever. But it didn't mean that Arin couldn't let someone new into his life. Though the way things were going now, Arin was back tracking away from Alex; which was probably not a good thing. Alex didn't have friends to go back to. Arin could stay with Laia and Lorcan if he wanted to, or stay with the princess. But not Alex. So perhaps Arin shouldn't keep himself so distant he'd lose Alex altogether. These were the things Arin was thinking about as he made his way across the hall, and waited for the other man to open up the door.

There was no emotion at all in Alex's gaze as he looked at Arin. No anger, no happiness, no sadness, just kind of the blank way a stranger looks at someone talking to them. It hurt a little bit, but Arin figured it was best like this. In response to Alex, he pointed up. "Listen. The celebrations started. I was coming to see if you were going to go, but I think you should go back to sleep. It looks like I woke you, I apologize," Arin slightly frowned, feeling bad for disturbing his rest. "I'm going to go. I need a drink... or a few. I need a day off," he chuckled, and then crossed his arms. "If you want to come let's go, otherwise go rest," he motioned to his room. Arin was trying to play it off as if he didn't care what the other man did, he was trying to convince himself more than Alex; but maybe Arin slightly cared.

He looked at the male processing what he said, that momentary flash of hurt in his eyes before he covered it up. He looked down at the male and he felt guilty. Guilty For wanting his attention and guilty for taking it. He felt guilty for getting close then pulling away only to repeat the process again and again hurting the other while he tried to figure out what he even wanted himself. If he even could do that with him. He was guilty for everything he had done and that little flash of pain in his eyes brought it all on but he did not change his expression just places a smile on his lips that did not reach his eyes and shook his head. "If I don't go there' no one there to make sure you are sober enough to get to your room" there was one difference. Normally he would have said A room to leave an open end there in case but he had decided he would rather be sad then guilty so Arin would stay in the hall across the room and Alex would stay in his own. He always had been good at masking emotion, his father would have done anything to protect his little boy so he had to make sure father was in check.

He stepped outside the door and closed it behind him actually taking the time to hear the music drifting down from above them. He wondered if it would be like before sitting across from Arin and watching or if Arin would let him on his own or if he would get dragged away to dance. He would not drink he knew that much. He needed his self control if he wanted to keep himself from doing all the stupid things he wanted to or saying all the stupid sh*t he wanted to say. He needed to stop flipping between decisions and just stick to the one he had made. Do the quest, concentrate on the quest, finish the quest, go back to the village. Nothing in between none of those spaces filled.

Standing there looking at Alex, Arin realized truly how difficult this was going to be. He would do it though, for his own good, keep this whole thing completely platonic. All Arin wanted to do was push the other man back into his room and let his feelings out, but nope...nope those were going to be pushed far far away out of his head. However, the slight emotion - of hurt on Alex's face did not make things much easier. Arin averted his gaze quickly before he did anything he would scold himself over later. Oh yes, he truly needed a drink. Anything to get himself to stop feeling right then. "Laia never drinks. She refuses to as Queen. She would help me back," he pointed out, not smiling much at his attempt at a joke. Arin was not in the mood to joke.

He stepped back as Alex came out of he room, closing the door behind. The sorcerer didn't go anywhere at first, he stood there for a moment or two, and then he grumbled to himself, spinning around to walk down the hall and the way back up and out towards where the fae were. It was more closer to the edge of the lake where the group had entered before. It looked like a lot of fun. There was a huge huge bonfire that went up into the sky, and a smaller fire for food. Arin was going to go towards the food first , get that drink, when Laia saw him and ran over, grabbing his hand to go dance around the fire. "You too Alex come on," she said to him and dragged Arin away to join the large group dance that was going on. Arin rolled his eyes and shook his head, trying his best to join in but truly the man was not a good dancer at all.

He saw the way the other male looked at him and the only emotion he could pick out was pity. Sure it was not the actual emotion in Arin's eyes but that is what he saw. He saw pity for the boy who had nothing to care about and so latched onto the first thing that showed affection. Alex was so alone and so sure no one cared he was clinging onto the first person who showed the slightest bit they did care. Or that's how he saw it at least. Alex was glad he turned away, glad he started leading to the party and did not do anything that would make Alex want to drag him up in his arms. "Laia is not strong enough to carry you" he countered as he stared behind looking down at the back of Arin's head looking like a kicked puppy. He was ready to hide the emotion the moment there was a chance for anyone to see it. There was no one around to see it though. There was no one there to see he was to tired to hold back the emotion.

It went away the moment they started climbing to the surface, the thoughts, the emotions. He put that fabricated smile back on his face and turned as Laia dragged Arin away calling to him to but he waived in a manner that showed he could not. Calling back with the excuse he was going to eat first. He had not eaten all day so the prospect of food was sounding really good.He moved away to grab some good spotting Lorcan and moving over to the one last person he knew sitting beside him and nodding in greeting. With that he moved to slowly eating his food pushing it around on his plate for a while before actually starting in. It was after he took the first bite he realized how hungry he was but forced himself to continue eating slowly, prolonging the amount of time he could use as excuse to stay away from the dance. He kept his eyes no his food not wanting to look up and get that puppy dog look on his face.

"Laia would disagree with you," the sorcerer had said before they got outside. Arin glanced back as Alex shook his head and said he was hungry. The male was actually relieved he went off; Arin didn't think he could take it being around him in the frustrated state he was in. Plus, Alex needed to eat as well, so Arin wasn't going to complain at all with him going off. Laia picked up on him not joining them in dance. "Everything okay with you two? I'm sensing something's off," she commented as she pulled him into the dance routine with the other fae. Arin merely shrugged. "I can't really answer that. I don't know myself. Things are weird," he frowned and then said nothing else as he forced himself to do this ridiculous dance. Once he was done he immediately rushed off to get something to drink, easily downing two of them, filling up a third and grabbing food. He did not sit by Alex though, he truly wanted to avoid the other man as much as he could, that way he could get used to...not being so needy, wanting the other man at his side or nearby or something like that. Arin needed to distance himself and so far it was going well. The sorcerer joined some other fae and ate and drank, until things started to get fuzzy.

Lorcan had his gaze on Laia the whole time; watching her enjoy herself, a smile on his face. He took his gaze away though as Alex came over to sit by him. He gave a small chuckle as he dug into his food before slowing his pace. "Glad to see you're doing better," the fae commented. "Arin made sure you healed up," he added, nodding at the lack of wounds - Alex had been much worse before. "How are you holding up? I spoke to Arin earlier and he seemed stressed about what the two of you are doing - trying to save your kingdom. But what about you? Must be hard as well?" he asked, curious. While waiting for a response, Lorcan glanced away, only to see not so far off, there was a blindfolded Arin trying to climb a tree - obviously drink by now, and there were some fae trying to cheer him on. Lorcan stood up and grumbled, and Laia was pretty much there at his side. "I saw too. Is everything okay with him? He's not like this," she rolled up the sleeves of her shirt. "I'm going up there after him," she said and then Lorcan shook his head. "No, you're wearing a dress, let me," he argued and stomped over to the tree.

At Lorcans question he just shook his head and shrugged. "The stakes are higher for him, he has people to leave behind and seems to think it was all his fault. There is a lot of weight on that assumption and he seems to have chained himself to that weight." he said looking up to catch sight of drunk Arin the same time as the others did. he rolled his eyes and looked to Laia after Lorcan stomped off. "He said he was coming to drink, looks like he really meant it." he muttered with a huff of air that served as a laugh. Turning his gaze back to the drunk boy in the tree. He would never be able to save anyone if he kills himself falling out of a tree first. He let out another huff this one more like a exasperated sigh before he spoke again. "And I said I would come because someone needed to carry hi back and it looks like I will have to make good on that promise same as he did" a little chuckle left his lips again and he gave laia a little nod as a farewell and started over to the tree.

He had called some of Arins decisions idiotic in the past but this one really took the cake. To be fair he was drunk but at the same time he did drink enough to be this stupid and he would for sure feel the effects in the morning. Alex had half a mind to bang on his door and say 'Good morning sunshine' in a loud voice just to mess with him, and he probably would. He was walking towards the tree his eyes locked on the male in the tree but knowing Lorcan was there he was not rushing. He would probably take over when they got him down hopefully before he slips and brakes something. He made it to the tree eyes up waiting to catch if anything went wrong. If it went right he would throw Arin over his shoulder and take him back to his room to sober up where he can't do anything stupid.

Lorcan sighed in response to Arin. "That man puts way too much on his own plate for him to handle," he shook his head and said to Alex before he began walking off. Laia just frowned and looked slightly worried. "I didn't think things were that bad," she had her hands clasped together, looking after her mate who was going to help her friend. "I wish I could go with you two, take the load off and help but I need to stay here and lead my people. And I can't ask Lorcan to go with you. I need him..." she rubbed her arms. "I will have him follow you to the mountains but that's it," she said, and then gave him a small nod back as he walked off to help out with Lorcan trying to make sure Arin didn't kill himself.

"I swear he has a death wish," Lorcan muttered as Alex approached, but then he began climbing the tree swiftly and easily. Arin was in the middle of feeling around for a branch when Lorcan grabbed him around his stomach. "Whoa!" Arin yelled and then felt around. "Lorcan - put me down I'm just trying to have some fun!" he scolded, and squirmed and protested as Lorcan held onto him. His words were slurred a bit. Lorcan struggled to hang on with the sorcerer moving. "Dangit, Arin, stop or you'll kill us both," he said and squeezed tighter before hopping back down to the ground and setting the man upright, pulling the blindfold off. "This is not a good idea, especially when you're highly intoxicated," the crowd around dispersed and went back to the rest of the party.
" I am fine, Lorcan..fine. It was just some fun" Arin assured before glancing over and noticing Alex, and immediately he frowned, stepping back. "What is he doing here," he shook his head. "No," he started shuffling back to the celebration and food to get more to drink.

Alex was more than glad Lorcan got him down before he fell and broke something, and that he had enough of a grip to not drop the squirming body. 'Just trying to have some fun,' seemed to mean worrying all his friends sh*tless and putting himself in danger. Well some of the blame could be placed on the drinks and another small fraction on the circle of fae who were egging him on. He couldn't speak properly but the alcohol in his system seemed to have convinced him otherwise. He was confused to say the least when the blindfold was pulled off and his first response upon seeing Alex was the bitter 'What is he doing here' and the no that followed it. He was here because his only friend was climbing a tree drunk. It was true Arin was his only friend and it was also true he felt more than guilty playing with the others emotions unintentionally while trying to figure out his. And he still could not figure out a name to put to how he was feeling, the mix of wanting to get close and run away.

Arin started off and Alex was about to let him alone as he was clearly mad for reasons Alex could guess related to him, more specifically the way he acts. He was ready to turn and go sit awkwardly with the fae who still seemed to dislike having a human in their midst until he saw where Arin was headed. Right back towards the drinks, like he needed any more. Alex made a little 'tch' sound before following after the smaller male, not bothering to call out knowing that would make him go faster. He caught up and wrapped his arm around the others shoulders tight enough to show there was no point in fighting but making sure not to hurt him. He did not care how much or how hard he got shocked, if Arin planned to leave tomorrow it would be best not to have a killer hangover fighting through the woods. "You don't need any more of that in you." he muttered wheeling him around and walking in the opposite direction. He had still not decided if he would take him to the tables and have his three friends guard him or lock him in his room. Right now he was concerned with getting him away from the drink table.

Arin's mind was fuzzy at the moment, but all he knew right now was that he truly needed to be away from Alex. That was the only thing on his mind. However, he didn't get very far before the man's arms came around him, tightly. The man squirmed, not wanting to be touched, not at all by him. "No," he yelled again, grumbling in protest. The other man said something about how he didn't need more of it. "How do you know what I do or dont need?" he snapped at Alex, and when he turned him around, pushing him away, Arin reached back and pushed Alex away from him as hard as he could. "What I need is to get away from you," his words were still mumbled and sounded weird coming out of his mouth, but the message was still getting out there. "Don't. Dont touch me anymore," he pushed him again, though it wasn't as hard because Arin was weak from being intoxicated. He took a few steps back, some stumbling steps. "Just let me forget, for a night," he was whispering low now. Alex clearly wasnt going to let him do anything else but sit around, so Arin crossed his arms, looking like a child, and he began making his way back to the cave system to go to his room. Except he was not walking in a straight line at all, and looked like he would fall over at any second. Lorcan had been watching from afar to make sure things were okay, and it seemed like Alex could handle it for now, so he went back to Laia though he watched to make sure everything would be alright.

Alex did not know what he had expected from the other male but he had not expected sharp words and certainly not being shoved away. He scanned the males face as he whispered asking Alex to let him forget, maybe the changes as Alex tried to figure out what he wanted affected the other male a lot more then he originally thought. Now, if ever before, he felt most guilty. He could not control the fact he did not know what he wanted but he could have at least tried to control his actions to save the other from the turmoil of his mind. Now both of them were paying the price and that was not fair to Arin. Arin should not have to be punished for something he had not done, Alex should have kept control over himself because now he might lose his only friend. Not just his only friend but a person he may or may not like more than that. He was still unsure of what he felt, what he wanted, but he knew he wanted to keep the pain away from Arin.

He was happy at least that Arin had changed directions and with awkward movements made his way back to the cave systems. Awkward movements and slurred words was not something he wanted to see again. The honesty mixed with sadness and bitterness killed him, but probably not as much as Arin was hurting right now. He watched the male go scolding himself for dragging him into inner turmoil when he deserved better. Alex always used the idea he did not want to be a consolation prize to keep himself distant but he had been so busy trying to save himself he forgot that Arin had been through a lot more then he had and needed to be saved much more then he did. He watched him walk away before returning to Laia and Lorcan shaking his head. "It's pretty bad" he muttered, knowing now it was his fault. [/fancypost]
