• Soshi was annoyed as his afterimages were being taken out one by one, but not overly concerned with it. He would continuously make them, as he moved effortlessly. The smog was perfect, Judo had been allowed to keep it up. Even when Lyra went down again -this time for the count; no commands would get her up this time: Soshi was not concerned. Though, this Konoha team was growing increasingly tiresome on his nerves. He served and darted, avoiding the harshest parts of the gale.

Judo stepped back as Yasei rounded on him, but he did not particularly care. The kid posed very little threat to him with fists and kicks. His hide was too thick.

Machi was now on Soshi like a hawk. She wanted to beat his face in. Her fists swiped at him with lightning encircling them, but despite her speed, the miasma from before kept her legs feeling like jello. Soshi knew how to move, she'd give him that.

"Time to end this," Soshi stated aloud. He held back his sword, and it morphed using the flames into a scythe. "Grim Fire!" he called out, blasting a wave of fire out, that raced through the gas, igniting the forest in front of them.

Machi hadn't been expecting Soshi to turn around, and use a very powerful technique. She thought she had him on the defensive. She couldn't avoid in time. Suddenly, a wall of lightning appeared between her, Team 4, and the enemy team, with a loud, feminine, "Light Field!"

Machi blinked, watching as the flame collided with the lightning, but was ultimately blocked by it. She looked up from where she knealt, at a girl that stood in front of her. A girl with a striking image to her, who was from the Land of Lightning.

  • "Yasei?"

    "Ow, yeah?"

    "What are you doing?"

"Well, I was gonna protect you from the blast."

    "Get off."

Yasei scrambled off her, deciding he would prefer the big guy to a cranky Shizuka.

Shizuka stood up and brushed herself off, "Lightning is more my brother's forte, but I guess I could give it a go."

"Yasei, you may want to move," A focused ball of lightning started to form around Shizuka's fist, her free hand holding her wrist as if she needed to force her hand down, "Lightning Blade: Lightning Speed!"

Yasei barely dodged her in time, as she zig-zagged around Judo, the lightning in her palm nothing but a blue blur as she moved, the sounds of birds chirping echoing throughout the clearing. As she zig-zagged around Judo, she forced the focused ball of lightning into his body every time she passed him.

  • It was definitely time to counter attack, and the new girl bent down, shouting, "Black Lightning Style: Thunder Crack!" A nasty large bolt of black lightning cracked through the area, like a fissure opening in the ground. It struck through the three of the other team, and shook the area like an earthquake.

Machi placed her hands on the ground, after performing her own jutsu, pissed to high heaven and ready to retaliate. "Lightning Style: Chasing Currents!" She shouted, as blue lightning tendrils raced along the ground, finding their intended targets. She stood up, and formed several hand signs, "Lightning Clones!" Two other bolts of lightning landed around her, sparking into life as clones of her. Together they raced forward, lightning encircling all of their hands.

"Lightning... Strike Twice!" Machi shouted, hitting Soshi - the real one. "Strike Twice!" Each clone also hit Soshi with the jutsu, sparking him with the jutsu. Machi placed her hands together, and flipped into the air. "Lightning: Strike Five Times!" She called out, sending a current from the air, down through all three from the Land of Water, even Lyra who was presumably already unconscious.

A loud bright blue flash rang out, with the sound of buzzing and electrocution. Soshi looked at Team 4, barely able to whisper, "B-but you didn't see everything yet..." His words meaningless as he collapsed finally, with Judo hitting the ground beside him, causing a small shake.

Machi bent down, sifting through their garments, "Aha," she grunted, finally pulling out the scroll from the other team. "Oh no," her words were soft and disappointed, realizing it was another Earth scroll, like theirs.

  • Yasei and Shizuka glared at the scroll, "You have got to be kidding me."

Somewhere in the village, a certain silver-haired man was laughing, causing Shizuka to sneeze. "You sick, Shizu?"

Shizuka narrowed her eyes, suspicions direct towards her ridiculous brother, "No, no I'm not."

Yasei's face suddenly scrunched up in thought, "Hey, that guy was pretty fast, how did you two keep up with him?"

  • "How?" Machi began, going to answer Yasei with something snarky, despite holding in her hand the Earth scroll they had worked so hard to get, yet was meaningless at this point. However, her body had another idea. She had a nasty gash across her chest, and cuts all over. The poison from the smog had affected Machi the most, as she had been in it the entire time. All those effects were compounding. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and the Uchiha fell over, passed out.

The girl that looked like Machi, bent to pick up the Uchiha. "I'll help," she said, to the rest of Team 4. "We need to get to a safe space before someone else comes along. In your battered state it may prove fatal." She paused, seeing that they had questions on their faces. "I'll explain later, we need to get somewhere safe first."

  • "What about the rest of your team? Do they know where you are?" Shizuka asked the girl who bore an uncanny resemblance to her teammate.

Before the silver-haired girl could buckle under the weight of her own body, Yasei lifted her into his arms, "When I swore to myself that I would sweep you off your feet someday, this wasn't quite what I had in mind."

If looks could kill, Yasei would be a pile of ash, that Shizuka would most likely stomp to death afterwards. However, Shizuka knew that by both using the Sharingan and ignoring the effects of the miasma, she had pushed herself to her limit. While the boy who held her bridal-style had also suffered the miasma, his seemingly infinite supply of chakra kept him going.

  • "Oh, my team knows where I am for sure," The girl spoke up. Her voice and tone was a much lighter version of Machi's. If Machi were to ever speak kindly, instead of in her harsh tone. They basically had the same voice otherwise. "The commotion brought us over. My teammates wanted to wait around to pick whoever had won off, but I convinced them otherwise." As she walked beside Yasei and Shizuka, carrying Machi, she reached a hand over, "Oh, by the way, I'm Sheena: Hisakawa, Sheena."

Once they were safe, in some small cave of sorts, Sheena got to work patching up Machi, and helping out the other two, though by the looks of it, the Uchiha was in the worst condition. She would be fine though.

A short while later, Machi stirred, blinking, "W-wha? W-where am I?" she murmured, looking around. Her eyes fell on the girl that looked like her, sitting right beside her. "Wha? -Who are? -"

Cutting her off, the girl from the Land of Lightning spoke up, "I'm Sheena. Your sister: Hisakawa, Sheena."

"S-sister?" Machi spoke up, as she moved to sit up, which Sheena probably should've protested, but instead just allowed, figuring Machi for the stubborn type. "H-hisakawa..."

"Yes, Hisakawa. We both have the same father. Surely you noticed?" Sheena asked. "That look you gave me in the beginning I instantly realized."

"I mean I felt something, and our similar resemblances were confusing..." Machi murmured.

"Our father is Hisakawa, Tadeo," Sheena spoke, as if Machi didn't know. She didn't, but Sheena couldn't know that, and was just presuming. "His name ironically means 'loyal'. Of which the man is anything but."

"I've... never... " Machi murmured, trailing off.

"Really known your father? That's because he is a philandering, no-good, missing-nin from our village. With very little in the way of loyalty, or honesty about him," Sheena spoke, almost bitterly. "He left from our village when I was very very young, with our brother. I guess he eventually made his way to Konoha where he had you with that Uchiha woman."

"He isn't there now," Machi spoke. "Where is he now?" she asked.

"No idea. He has a bounty on him. My guess is our father is out siring more kids with other poor, foolish women," Sheena responded. A shrug followed her words, "If he hasn't already."

  • Yasei watched the sisters as Shizuka tended to his injuries, as she had done for him so many times before.

"Our families aren't nearly this exciting..." Yasei mumbled to Shizuka, who hummed in agreement as she secured a bandage around his arm.

"Hey Shizu, about that fight earlier, what happened?"

The silver-haired kunoichi rose an eyebrow at him as she spared him a glance in the midst of observing a big bruise on his stomach.

"Well, I could have sworn you pulled down your mask, but that would never-"

    "Yeah, I did."

A long pause ensued, "So let me get this straight...that douche got to see your face...but I didn't?"

    "Sounds about right."

There was a moment of silence, until it was broken by Yasei's shouts as he attempted to scrambled out of the cave, "THAT'S IT! I WANNA GO UP AGAINST THAT GUY THIS TIME! AND I'M GONNA FINISH THE JOB! IF I HAVEN'S SEEN SHIZU'S FACE YET THAN NOBODY ELSE CAN!"

Shizuka sighed, her hand keeping a tight hold of the boy's shirt, keeping him from moving more than a metre away from her. Before he could get more difficult, the Hatake tugged his shirt downwards, bringing him with it. With an unmanly yelp, Yasei plonked back on the ground, grumbling profanities under his breath as Shizuka tended to the rest of his injuries.

  • Sheena blinked in surprise as Yasei just started yelling, and rampaging, with Shizuka quickly in tow. She opened her mouth to speak, but Machi laughed lightly, and shook her head.

"It's always like this," Machi stated simply, leaning back. Her body was still aching, and she figured rest was necessary for a short amount of time, but sooner rather than later, she'd be back up again.

"Anyway," Sheena went on, deciding to take Machi's words for it, about the chaotic, rambunctiousness of her fellow teammates. "Am I right in assuming, that the Lightning element courses through your very veins?" she asked her half-sister.

Machi nodded, "Yes, the element paper revealed I was most in my element, with lightning."

Sheena snickered, and nodded, "Of course. I meant it literally when I said it courses through your veins. It's your father that gave you your natural connection to Lightning. Uchiha are known for their fire element control, though, right?"

"Yes, but it seems that isn't the case with me," Machi answered, somewhat sourly. So wait. Her father was the reason for her control over lightning? Coursing through your veins... literally. Her brow furrowed. "Am I mistaken in that, I heard you say 'Black Lightning Style'?" she asked Sheena.

"You are not, I did," Sheena answered, with a smile.

"Do you suppose you could teach me?"
    Machi's words were hopeful.

Sheena shook her head, "Unfortunately, the moment you were born Uchiha, your blood was tainted. You cannot learn the Black Lightning style."

Those were not the words she had been wanting to hear. Machi immediately grew angry, but before she could retort, Sheena spoke once again -seeing the blood rise in her half-sister's face.

"Wait. However, I do believe you have the capacity to learn a style that I cannot," Sheena stated simply, holding up her hand. "After all, Uchiha are close to fire. I believe you can learn how to use 'Red Lightning Style'."

"Never heard of it; what's the difference?" Machi asked.

"Black Lightning is the most destructive of all lightning," Sheena explained, holding up her hand, black sparks going over it. "Red Lightning, instead, burns the hottest of all lightning: it's fire in lightning form."

Machi's eyes widened, and she drew still as she inhaled. So she would be able to master this lightning style? Perhaps she was following in her mother's footsteps after all! Just in a more unique-to-herself way.

  • "So ladies," Yasei coughed out, Shizuka's leg hooked around his neck to restrict his movement as she cleaned the wounds done to his head.

"Either of you lovelies wish to tend to my injuries? After all, while Shizu-chan may have been my first love, she's definitely not the gentlest~"

The red-haired ninja then found himself choking as Shizuka tightened her hold around his neck, though there was no change in emotion for the rest of her features.

  • Machi and Sheena exchanged glances. With the Uchiha grimacing and secretly thanking Shizuka for shutting the silly boy up. However, the girl from the Land of Lightning found herself giggling. The girl's striking features to her sister lit up, and glowed. Machi found herself blinking in disbelief. "W-what are you doing?" Machi asked.

Sheena blinked, and glanced at Machi. "O-oh I duno... I just thought.. I duno!" she responded, shrugging, trying to play it off coolly.

Machi stared at her half-sister. How could she have found that amusing? How could she find Yasei amusing? He was so immature!

  • "Surprised Machi? I'll have you know, you're the only girl that hasn't fallen for my charms! Why, even the cold Shizuka has fallen for-GYACK!"

"I think that's enough for now Uzumaki."

"While I do enjoy this proximity, would you please remove your leg from my neck Shizu-chan~?"

One final strangle and Shizuka let the boy go, moving form her place on the ground, she started walking towards the cave entrance.

"Where do you think you're going?" Yasei rose his eyebrow, a disapproving pout on his lips.

"We need to know if there are any teams that are close-"

    "Nope."

"Pardon?" Shizuka's eye twitched as she looked at the red-haired boy.

    "Not alone you're not."

Before the silver-haired kunoichi could protest, Yasei jumped up from the cave floor and started towards her. Shizuka sighed, but she allowed Yasei to follow as they disappeared in the blink of an eye, on the search for other teams.

"I know that you're probably not going to tell me if I ask, but I just wanted to let you know that if you wanted to talk about what happened in the fight, I'm here."

Shizuka's cold eyes softened, and she allowed her tense shoulders to drop as they leaped from branch to branch, "I shouldn't have needed to use it in a petty battle like that."

    "Use what?"

After a moment of hesitance, her mouth moving with no words, she sighed, stopping in her tracks. Yasei stopped beside her, eyebrow raised. Shizuka brought down her mask, revealing her eye to him. Yasei's own eyes widened, "Is that?"

    "Sharingan, yeah."

    "Does Machi know?"

"I'm not sure? There's a possibility she could have seen it during the fight."

"Do you want her to know?"

"Well, yes, but I don't know how I'd-" Shizuka grabbed Yasei's wrist and pulled him into the foliage of the tree.

The two held their breath as they watched another three genin pass under the tree beneath them. They both had to refrain from growling at the sight of the leader; the big jerk who only resembled his father in appearance but nothing else.

  • Machi rolled her eyes at Yasei's words. The kid was delusional. Most girls found his remarks and demeanor repulsive. She at least was a tad nicer, just finding him merely annoying. However, it seemed her half-sister thought it was amusing.

She had wanted to discuss the fact that they had a second Earth scroll, but before she mentioned it, her teammates had left. She was going to suggest they make their way to the end of the challenge, and find a team that had a spare Heaven scroll to barter with. But she found herself alone with Sheena. She found herself at a loss for words. She had no idea she had other family across the world, and the quick words they had shared had just been spur of the moment. Now Machi sat staring at Sheena, looking as if she were staring in a mirror.

Sheena did actually seem slightly different, now that she got a good look at her. Sheena's hair was basically the same, and her facial features were basically the same, aside from deep purple eyeshadow Sheena wore. However, her sister was bigger, and taller. Not just because she was a year older, but because Machi was just small in stature. Sheena's style was also different. Her outfit had deep blues and purples on it. Her sister wore a skirt with dark purple leggings, and heeled black boots. Actually, now that she was noticing, Sheena had a distinctly more feminine appearance and demeanor. Maybe that was why she was giggling before.

  • Yasei moved to go after Ren's son, but Shizuka stopped him with a hand on his wrist, "I want to take him on just as much as you do, but we can't do anything until we have the whole team together."

The red-haired boy scowled at the boy beneath them, but he nodded at Shizuka, and the two of them sped back off to the cave.

    "Guess who's here,"
    Yasei growled with disgust.

"Ren's kid, as well as the rest of his team. You think you're ready for another fight, or should we skip this one?"

  • Machi blinked as the other two showed up being very anxious, their tone revealing some excitement. With a raised eyebrow, she asked, "Who?" quickly, and was quickly answered. A scowl crossed her face. From the feeling inside her, her chakra had mostly returned -mostly, but her body was still very sore. However, she couldn't pass this chance to punch his face in. "Let's take him out," she purred with delight.

"Ren? Whose Ren? And whys he matter so much?" Sheena asked, a confused look on her face.

  • "He threatened Team 4, that's why he matters," Without another word, Shizuka nodded to Yasei, and the two started towards the location of their target.

Before Yasei went to the opposite side of the enemy team, Shizuka grabbed his wrist, "Save me a punch."

Yasei winked back at her, "You got it." Just as he was about to leave, he stopped in his tracks and came back to her. "You still haven't fully recovered your chakra", a smirk crept onto his lips as he picked up her hand with his, the blue glow of his chakra flowing into her, "So here's some for the road."

After a smug smirk and a quick salute, Yasei disappeared into the trees. Before Shizuka could stop herself, a smirk found its way onto her own lips. The silver-haired girl's shadow crept towards the three enemy genin, using the shadows of the trees to maximise her reach. Her hold was much stronger than the last time, and would last until it was time for the real fight to start.

  • Before Sheena could say anything, Machi pushed passed her, following the other two. "They mocked us, and now they're gunna pay," she stated simply.

Sheena grabbed her sister's wrist, holding her back just. "Didn't you go into the last battle underestimating your opponent?" she inquired. Her eyes narrowed. "I would suggest caution with these three... I sense... something from them. Even I don't want to engage."

Machi normally would completely sedate such words, but her sister was beginning to mean a lot to her, in this short amount of time. For better or worse, she would listen to Sheena's words and heed them. With a single nod, and with a release of her wrist, she left the small den, ready to attack, but... with a shred of caution. Shizuka was confident in her abilities, but she hadn't been strong enough to hold the previous three, and Sheena spoke as if these three might be stronger. That was worrying.

  • I held back with the last three, but I'm not going to underestimate these ones. They don't deserve any mercy.

Shizuka thought back to her brother's lessons; how he told her that one you learn a technique using the Sharingan, you have to put in all of your focus to master it, and get the best out of its abilities.

Focus solely on the task at hand, nothing else matters.

Yasei, as well as a dozen more Yasei-clones waited in the shelter of the trees. He narrowed his eyes at the leader of the team. Though they had never really spoken about it, Machi was the leader of their team, so he knew that he probably wouldn't get to fight him.

Why was Machi the leader? Well, because Shizuka didn't want to be a leader. Yasei knew that this was because she didn't trust herself to be that person. She didn't want people to put faith in her, only to let them down. He knew that her cold facade was already hard to keep up.

    And, well, Yasei.

Why he wasn't leader was obvious, and he knew that, but he didn't mind.

  • It was unspoken; the fact that Machi was the leader of Team 4. At least when Ren wasn't around. In Yasei's eyes, it was just sort of because she was the only one who seemed to make sense as the leader. In Machi's mind, it was for a totally different reason. It wasn't because the position was open and she just happened to fill it. It was the opposite, the position wasn't open, because she was leader.

Machi took up her position in the trees, Sharingan already activated, studying their chakra. These three had good chakra control. She could tell. They were masking themselves as weaklings, like the previous three, but they did it more deliberately. Like a challenge: daring anyone to attack them. Their movements were weird. Rikuto strolled confidently along, his head held up, hand at his waist, and chest out. The one in the back sort of crept along, in long lanky strides. The one in the middle, much like the previous team, was the only girl in Rikuto's team. She sort of sneaked just behind Rikuto, hiding in his shadow like it was the shadow of trees. Her eyes always peering everywhere, a sinister toothy grin upon her face.

It was uncanny. They looked like villains. Yet Ren, the one who's offspring that was down there, was the nicest person Machi knew.

  • "Heh, I've got you now," Shizuka smirked as her shadow latched onto the girl who hid in Rikuto's shadow. Despite the fact that the girl froze, her grin only grew, as if the sensation of paralysis pleased her.

"Ninja Art: Mind Transfer Jutsu." Shizuka's body went limp, but just as it was about to fall from the tree, Yasei sent one of his clones to rush silently through the trees to catch her. While clone-Yasei held Shizuka, the only girl in Rikuto's team switched her grin to a smirk, walking out from Rikuto's shadow and into the light that filtered through the leaves above.

Clone-Yasei got Machi's attention, pointing at the forehead of the silver-haired girl in his arms, and the girl below them.
