  • Perfect! :D

  • Chocolate = bbl Dd

    Fawn = blbl dd

    Blue = Bbl dd

    Black = Bbl DD

    Bb dd = blue

    bb dd = Lilac

    blbl Dd = cinnamon

    bbl dd = Lilac

    Black male, lilac female:

    Chocolate and black kits

    Fawn male, blue female:

    Blue and kits

    Cinnamon male, chocolate female:

    Chocolate and cinnamon kits

    Blue male, Black female:

    Black and blue kits

  • Don't forget that the dominant color will always carry the recessive color.

    So Black x Cinnamon = "Bbl DD" x "blbl DD" (Black carries Cinnamon so there can be Cinnamon kits)

    And Lilac x Chocolate = "bb dd" x "bb Dd" (Chocolate carries dilute so there can be Lilac kits)

    See if you can figure out what is wrong with the kitten predictions. Please ask questions if you have any. :)

  • Oh ha ha oops, i was in such a rush(I had to get to bed) that I didn't even think about that XD I fixed it

    Oh haha lol XD didn't see that Fixed[/fancypost]

    [/fancypost]

  • It isn't fixed. Here let me show you with a similar example:

    Cinnamon x blue

    Cinnamon = blbl Dd

    Blue = Bbl dd

    B bl d d

    bl Bbl blbl D Dd Dd

    bl Bbl blbl d dd dd

    Cinnamon x Blue

    Cinnamon, Fawn, Black, Blue

    Does this help?

    The one I need you to fix is the Black x Lilac one.

  • No. You need to stop and write out the genotypes first because each set of parents is different. These genotypes only apply to this pairing. Since Lilac is the Dilute of chocolate, and chocolate is recessive to black, the black parent will be carrying chocolate so that the kittens can be chocolate as well as black. And since Dilute is recessive to dense, the black parent will be carrying Dilute so there can be both dense and Dilute forms.

    Black = Bb DD
    Lilac = bb dd

    B b D d
    b Bb bb d Dd dd
    b Bb bb d Dd dd

    Kittens: Black, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac

    Does this make sense?

    That's what I did at first. . .

  • I almost forgot, here are some things to remember when doing pairings with tabbies.

    Brown Tabby is not Chocolate Tabby. Brown Tabby is the breeder term for Black Tabby. I will never refer to Chocolate as Brown.

    You don't have to list put every single colored type of Tabby (example: Brown Mackeral Tabby, Brown Spotted Tabby, Blue Mackerel Tabby, Blue Spotted Tabby....etc.) Instead write it out like this....

    Brown Tabby, Blue Tabby

    Tabbies can either be Mackerel or Spotted.

    You don't have to write out the type of the spotted or ticked Tabby. Those are for your own informational purposes.

    So instead of writing Brown Classic Spotted Tabby, just write Brown Spotted Tabby.

    :D

  • Read my post right before yours to see how to list out specific Tabby types.

    :)

    Also I need you to not refer to Chocolate as Brown. Brown Tabby = Black Tabby. So go through your answers and make sure you say Brown Tabby instead of Black Tabby. and make sure you say Chocolate and Chocolate Tabby instead of Brown.

    Your answers are technically all correct I just need you to clean it up a bit because it is very important. :)

    I think I fixed them all :) [/fancypost]

    [/fancypost]

  • Yes. You fixed the colors. Now instead of listing the results like this...

    Brown Mackerel Tabby, Blue Mackerel Tabby, Brown Classic Tabby, Blue Classic Tabby

    Write it like this...

    Brown Tabby, Blue Tabby,

    Tabbies will be Mackerel Tabby or Classic Tabby

    I am really proud of you. You are doing great!
