Peridot looks at Arden when she didn't speak for a few minutes."What about your memories? What are they like?" It was good that the green gem was at least curious.

Arden remained silent for a short while longer before finally responding. "Most of them are about my friends and family back home. To be a bit more specific, there's one from about four years ago that always sticks out." Her mood brightened slightly to think about the people she loved. If Peridot was interested in her memories, then why not try for a laugh as well? With this thought in mind, she continued her story. "I was standing on a little bridge over a lake with some of my old friends. Everyone was jumping in so, naturally, they were all pressing me to jump as well. I ended up refusing, but when I turned to walk away I slipped and fell in backwards." She punctuated the end with a tiny chuckle, a soft pink staining her cheeks.
-
Peridot blinks quizzically."Did it hurt?" She was trying to figure out why Arden had kept that as an important memory.
-
"Little bit. I sprained my ankle when I slipped. It was still pretty fun, though. We all got in huge trouble when we came back soaked and I was using a couple of them as a crutches." Arden replied, smiling warmly at the small gem. She always remembered these moments fondly. Times she shared with those who cared about her, even if she did end up freezing and injured in this particular case.
And a few others she wouldn't bother to mention. -
"Oh." Peridot was starting to understand now.Sort of."So your friends and family are a big part in all of your important memories?" She looks up at Arden. She was trying so hard to understand the human's world.Almost as if she wanted to be apart of it.
-
Arden nodded enthusiastically. "That's right! Normally a person's best memories are ones with people they care about, and who care about them." She confirmed, still reminiscing in the back of her mind.
-
"We gems..I-I mean HomeWorld gems don't typically have friends or what you mentioned as family."
-
Yeah, I figured. Arden thought better of saying this out loud, instead replying with, "Oh really? I think it's safe to say you've got one. Or, at least you've got friends." She stated, referring to the Crystal Gems. She always saw the group as a family, so it only made sense that Peridot was now part of it.
-
"I have friends?" She sounded shocked to say the least.Which was kind of sad considering she didn't think anyone would want to be friends with a gem like herself.
-
"Of course you do! Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl seem to be warming up to you. I know for a fact Steven wanted to be your friend from the start, and now you have me." She explained as though it were obvious. She had just naturally assumed Peridot thought of them the same way.
-
"Oh.." The small gem smiled faintly at her words. So she did have friends. Perhaps I could develope some good memories She shook off the thought. No,no.That's silly.Yellow Diamond would be cross

Arden looked back over the ocean, suddenly gasping in excitement. "Peri look!" She exclaimed, pointing out across the waves to a pod of dolphins as they hopped forward and disappeared back beneath the water.
-
Her eyes widen and she double-blinks at the sight."What were those?!" Her gaze doesn't leave the spot in the ocean where the creatures had disappeared.
-
"Those were called dolphins! They live in the ocean, but they have to come up for water every now-and-then. They also play by hopping with each other." Arden explained, still watching as well in hopes that they would appear again. So cool!
-
The beautiful moment was shattered the instant the green gem looked away from the ocean and at something that had just washed up on the shore. "Oh my stars!" The little gem had never ran so fast on her little legs. "My gear!"She collapsed on the sand, gathering up as much as she could carry and moved it out of the reach of waves. Then ran back to fetch the rest and do the same.
-
"....What...?" Arden watched The small gem scuttle around and sighed deeply. She crouched by the equipment that had been fished out and studied it with great interest. "What is all this?"
-
Peridot squealed in feverish delight as she recollected the rest of it.Immediately plopping down on the sand to clean it all off and get it functioning again."My limb enhancers, my digital logs, and my zappy fingers!" She was far too excited to call them by their actual name."This is great!I won't be so short anymore!"
-
"Yeah....great... Good for you." Arden agreed half-heartedly. She was certainly glad the green gem was so happy about something, but what would this mean? Just that she could be tall again, or would she be trying to get back to HomeWorld now? Trying not to let it bother her, she seated herself in the sand. "What does it all do?"
-
"Well, my limb enhancers make me taller..as well as armored." She explained as she continued to clean everything off.Not noticing Arden's change of mood."And the digital logging system allows me to record and type up whatever I consider important to keep.Kind of like your book thing."The small gem was stoked to say the least."But none of this stuff will ever help me get ahold of Yellow Diamond..There's no stable connection."
-
Arden sighed involuntarily, thoroughly relieved at this revelation. "Did you make it all yourself?" She inquired, now a little more invested in the conversation. She liked short Peridot, but if calling Yellow Diamond was out of the question then she was selfishly fine with this.
