  • Cloudshadow picked a mouse off of the freshkill pile and was about to eat when his amber gaze rested on a pretty she-cat across camp. His pelt rippled with soft heat - he'd taken a bit of a liking to her a few moons ago, and to be her mate would make him happy. She was the one he loved, the one he'd show his soft side to, the side that wasn't short-tempered and snappish. If only...

  • Nightcloud stared wistfully at a large patch of a rainbow of flowers. Red roses in a bush, orange daffodils, yellow lilies, green steams and leaves, plus the reeds down a bit farther. Blue bluebells, her favorite flower, and purple violets, her second favorite. How could all of these beauties be grouped together in one spot when they could be making all the other drab, ugly spots of the muddy forest beautiful? Possible that the plants had a conscience? That they didn't want the other flowers to see them with the ugly brown trees?

The black she-cat attention slipped away from the flowers as she noticed she was being stared at by a tom. Maybe he's staring at someone else. she thought as she looked around. There were only other toms around. Maybe he was staring at nothing, just a blank stare. Then she spotted it. The most beautiful she-cat in ShadowClan, Violetmist. Even her name was beautiful! There were so many toms crushing on her that she couldn't decide... so she didn't have a mate. How could she ha been so stupid to think there was a tom with a crush on her? Little did sh know that she wasn't stupid... there was a love interest on her.

  • Cloudshadow began to approach the she-cat, the tingly heat still warming his pelt. He'd ask her if she wanted to share the mouse, even though it was small prey he'd let her have most of it. Maybe they could talk afterwards, share tongues, and Cloudshadow would tell her he loved her and she would have his kits and they'd grow up to be great warriors and when the two of them grew old they'd sit in the elder's den and watch the kits serve their clan...

He shook his head to get rid of the thought. Just because he was trying to make Nightcloud his mate didn't mean he could fantasize like an over excited apprentice. He had to take it one step at a time. He picked the mouse and was on his way over to hee when he saw Nightcloud glaring at something... He followed her gaze to Violetmist. With a small amount of concern he walked up to her, dropping the mouse at her paws, and asked, "Nigntcloud, what's wrong?"

  • Nightcloud's attention snapped away from Violetmist and to the tom who had just dropped a mouse at her feet. The one that had been staring at Violetmist. It was probably just a kind gesture... not of the sort having to do with a love. "Oh nothing..." she responded as her voice trailed off absentmindedly as she stared hungrily at the mouse. her mouth watered, but she contained the drool, as that would pull away any doubt that this tom didn't have a crush on her.

"Is that for me?" The black she-cat asked hopefully as she looked at Cloudshadow, then back to the mouse. She sure hoped so.

  • "No, I just dropped it at your paws so you could watch me eat it," he deadpanned, then touched his tail-tip to her shoulder. "Of course it's for you, furball. Now tell me what's wrong."

  • Nightcloud looked up at Cloudshadow with her eyes while her head still faked downward. A small smile crossed her face, and she chuckled. She personally thought her smile was ugly, but this tom was showing signs of love, maybe he liked it? She shook her head. "Nothing, really." she said. How was she supposed to explain that she was jealous of another she-cat that she was much prettier and got all the toms... you couldn't. You would be known as insecure.

Instead, she bent down and took a bite of the mouse that Cloudshadow had gotten her. It was a tiny bit stale, but as hungry as she was, it tasted like a gourmet masterpiece.

  • Cloudshadow caught her looking at him, but didn't say anything. Surely this cat wouldn't have an issue with Violetmist? Why should she? And when he caught a glimpse of her smile he felt one slide across his own face; she should do it more often, he liked her smile. When she bent down ti eat the mouse a sort purr grew in his chest - he was glad he'd brought her the mouse, she looked his she was starving.

  • Nightcloud was glad that he didn't question her anymore about Violetmist. As she bent down to take another bite of the mouse, a feeling perked inside of her. What was this, love? Not this early. But, it was there. She wanted to be alone with this cat, to share her feelings. It was too loud, surely somebody would hear. It seemed odd. Last time she felt this way about someone, he wen off and had kits with another. "Can we go into the forest to eat?" she asked, hinting she wanted to be alone. He showed that he like her smile, so she showed it again.

  • The purr in Cloudshadow's chest grew a little louder as she smiled at him, and he almost missed it when she asked if they could go out into the forest. "Sure," he answered, confused. Why would she want them to go off alone, just to eat a mouse?

... Wait. Alone. stupid, he thought, she wanted to be alone with him! The thought made his smile grow wider, and he forgot about all his attempts to be aloof as he purred.

  • A smile grew on her mouth again as she started into the forest after Cloudshadow.

ooc;; Sorry for the short post. xP

  • OOC: it happens.

IC: they trekked away from camp, through the pine trees and bogs. Cloudshadow climbed up the rough bark of a pine to land on one of the thick, lower branches and beckoned for her to follow. "What's on your mind?"
OOC: yeah, short post for me too.

  • Nightcloud followed Cloudshadow up the tree and sat down next to him Not the best place to eat a mouse, but they were almost done with it, being so small, it would do for a minute or two more. As he asked her a question, she paused to listen. Once he had finished. She thought about her answer for a brief moment. "It was just loud in the camp." she said simply, though that was not the entire reason, it wasn't really a lie, it was part of the reason.

  • His single black ear twitched. "We could've gone into the Warrior's den to get away from the noise," he said. Something was up, and he wanted to know what.

  • Nightcloud shrugged. "You can hear the camp from in there, too." she pointed out. She was unsure if she should share her feelings now... so soon. No, it would be very strange. [i]Very[i] strange.

  • A sort of smug expression came to his face, and hour just felt like being a smart-tail. "And what would you want to say that would require us being away from camp?" he asked, a small smirk settling on his muzzle briefly before he wiped it away. He honestly wanted to hear what she had to say, and acting ignorant wouldn't help him get any closer to her.

  • Nightcloud shrugged. "I'll tell you after we eat." she said as she ate some more of the tiny mouse.

  • "Alright," he conceded, and leaned down to eat a small bite of mouse. Nervous curiosity pricked at his pelt - what did she want to tell him? Was it what he hoped? Maybe it was, or maybe she'd noticed that he liked her a little more than a friend and wanted to tell him that she didn't want him...that was the toughest bite or fresh-kill he'd swallowed in a long time.

  • Dewcloud bursts in the clearing chasing a mouse. She immediately starts to back away. "Sorry," She apologizes immediately, "Didn't scent you two." She starts to bound away but pauses and yowls, "Honestly you two lovebirds! Don't you see that you both love each others? Cats these days..." She bounds away leaving the two cats embarassed.

  • Cloudshadow's skin flushed hot under his pelt. "D-Dewcloud!" He yelled, staring at the other cat in dismay. At least, he tried to, what he actually looked like was embarassed and a little scared.

OOC: sorry for the short post, trying to hurry and get this long homework done.

  • Suddenly, as soon as Dewcloud sad this, she realized something. Her love faded away, and she was felt with no emotions. She didn't really love him. She just thought she did. "I don't love [i]him!" she called after Dewcloud. "I know you like me, but I just like you s a friend." she broke the news to the tom.
