Ling pulled off his yellow jacket and offered it to her, smiling. "Here, we don't need you freezing." he said kindly, glancing up. Snow was something he could handle, no matter how beat up he was. He smiled at the memory, then watched Rose carefully. "That or the trench coat, you can borrow either one." he added, remembering his new coat.

Rose accepted the first with a smile. She looked at him, wondering what to say. "Wow thats so nice.. thanks, it indeed is cold... I appriciate it a lot!" she finally said, not shivering anymore. She looked down and walked onward with a sigh, looking to see if there was anyone on the streets. Seeing no one, she walked out and began walking. "I think classes will be over by now... but you can hang out in your dorm, or visit mine; I have a few books and stuff to read." she said absentmindly.
-
Ling smiled, pulling on the trench coat with a satisfied smirk. "I'd like that." he answered, glancing around. "Coming to your room, I mean. I haven't read much on this place yet, so a bit of studying might help a lot with school." he said, then shivered slightly. This place hadn't felt right, from the moment he came here... He sighed, looking down, and followed Rose, worried about what could be lurking here.
-
Rose sighed and nodded. "I can tell you more when we get there... And alright, we will be there soon..." she said, wlaking onward. The uncertainty was making her worried, and the quiet seemed too quiet. Despite her fears, it would be good to get back to the academy... especially since it was beginning to get dark outside...
-
Ling nodded slowly, still jittery. He sighed, wishing that he knew what was going on. The air itself felt... ill, as if something was dying. He inhaled slowly, trying to figure this out. He was still bleeding from the bites, but the trench coat hid them well.
-
Rose walked onward, seeing the academy comign into sight. The sun was starting to sink lower and lower... soon it would be dark outside. She needed to work uickly, and gave a worried glanced behing her as she walked. She hoped they would get there soon... before they came out to feed...
-
Ling followed her silently, then flinched when a familiar chi brushed against the edges of his senses. It felt like that same guy from before, the one that had spoken to him before... and Ling was injured. He cursed, glancing around swiftly, then glanced at Rose. "Keep moving." he said softly, trying not to panic.
-
Rose glanced at Ling. "I know." she said softly. She was worried and hurried onward, wincing as she felt the air crackle with tension. She looked at Ruby, who was looking all around, seemingly alarmed. They needed to get there... and soon...
-
Ling flinched, hearing a rustle. He kept moving, sensing that it was only a fox, but forgot to tell Rose that it was nothing to fear. He winced at the pain from the bites, which was finally hitting him in full, and clenched his arm, frowning. "We're a ways away and I'm injured... promise me that if they come you will leave me behind." Ling said suddenly, eyes sharp.
-
Rose turned to him, eyes flashing in determination. "I shall make no such promise. I protect friends at all coasts, as I will do here." she said. They might have just met, but she reguarded him as a friend now, and would stand by him in danger's eye. She would not abamdom, and kept walking, wary and getting even more nervous...
-
Ling froze, realizing what that rustle was. "Rose, I would do the same, even loose my life, to protect my friends. You need to go, there's something I need to check." he said simply, then glanced around the area. He sighed, stopping where he was, and didn't move.
-
Rose would give him the sense that she abandoned him, then. Of course, she would not do any such thing. "Alright... meet me at the academy." she said, pretending to walk off. When she was out of sight, she slipped into the shadows and quietly walked back to where he was, staying silent as possible. Ruby watched warily, not moving at all an inch. Both were completly quiet...
-
Ling watched her leave and sighed, then glanced around warily. He was curious about that rustle... and his suspicion was confirmed when a chimera padded/jumped out from the bush. It was half cat and half frog, a horrid mix. "One of Greed's, huh? What does he want?" Ling demanded, frowning. The chimera shook it's head and gestured for him to follow. Ling nodded slowly, knowing it wouldn't leave him alone otherwise.
-
Rose silently follwed behind from the shadows, not a sound coming from her movements. She wondered what had happened and what was going on, but would not abandon him at all. She would help, and wished she had a weapon, though...
-
Ling was in a horrid mood. First Rose left, now Greed had to find him? He doubted she was here, but he knew he deserved this treatment for shoving her away like that. He sighed, stopping when Greed, ever so predictable, jumped down from a tree in front of him. "Hey there." he said coolly, frowning at Greed. Greed laughed. "Well, well! Look who it is, the Xingese brat." Ling's eyes widened. "How do you know-" he started, then was abruptly cut off. "I know who you are, Ling Yao. Prince of the Yao clan, one of the heirs to the throne. I need to know how much you know about the Philosopher's Stone, and you're going to tell me." Greed finished, smirking at him. "Your choice, brat. Risk me knowing about your friends, and maybe doing something rather... nasty to them, or tell me what I want to know."
-
Rose onlooked from the shadows, finding out more and more that she could not understand. She looked to the sky and noticed the sun was sinking lower and lower, and it seemed that it was getting a lot darker. She watched more, very worried and nervous now, not daring to make a sound.
-
Ling frowned. "I don't understand, Greed. What do you want to know?" Greed actually smiled at him. "I want to know if you know how it works to make people immortal, and just how far you're willing to go. You want the Stone, which means one of two things: you're an alchemist that needs it, which isn't true, or you want to be immortal. I do believe that immortality is your goal, yes?" Ling stared at him, then laughed. "You're smart, for a Homunculus. Yes, that is what I'm after. If you can help me, I can forgive you for the trouble you caused, and maybe even help you." Ling said calmly. His mind was racing, and his eyes were wide open, staring into Greed's with an almost scary intensity. "I know that the Stone is linked to immortality, and that it can kill you, but that's about it." Ling added, then smiled. "So, will you help me?"
-
Immortality... That was what this was about? Rose resisted gasping and stayed silent, thinking it over. Obviously immortality came with a price... What would they have to do to get it? She was not interested in it, she did not fear death at all, only pain and being prey. But she knew this business was bad, and something was wrong here. She would risk being found out by Greed, who seemed far too powerful, iif she called out. She reluctantly stayed silent, praying that he would say no; her instincts told her that it was not good at all...
-
Greed laughed. "You're pretty funny, kid. I can accept that offer... long as you work under me until you get what you want." Ling smirked, realizing the irony. "A prince, work for you? I will accept that change as well." he said, and they shook hands. "Business partners with a Homunculus, how fun." Ling said, smiling. "Eventually, we'll end up the same. If this works." Greed nodded. "Your avarice is appealing. If I had no form of my own..." Greed trailed off, then smirked mysteriously, which confused Ling. "Hmm?" he asked, frowning. "What did you say?"
-
Rose at this point realized the danger of her being here. She could no longer trust Ling, she figured; something seemed not right. She glanced at Ruby and slowly started to back away, but wondered if there was more..m what if she was discovered? She didn't even want to think about it...
