    "speaking", actions, thinking

Little Ellie was absolutely completely bored out of her mind. As this ongoing feeling continued to drag her down, something unexpected happened. Ellie started singing.

    Things were all good yesterday
And then the devil took your memory
And if you fell to your death today
I hope that heaven is your resting place
I heard the doctors put your chest in pain
But then that could have been the medicine
And now you’re lying in the bed again
Either way I’ll cry with the rest of them
And my father told me, son
It’s not his fault he doesn’t know your face
And you’re not the only one
Although my grandma used to say, he used to say
Darling hold me in your arms the way you did last night
And we'll lie inside, a little while he wrote
I could look into your eyes until the sun comes up
And we’re wrapped in light, in life, in love
Put your open lips on mine and slowly let them shut
For they’re designed to be together oh
With your body next to mine our hearts will beat as one
And we’re set alight, we’re afire love, love, love oh
And things were all good yesterday
Then the devil took your breath away
And now we’re left here in the pain
Black suit, black tie standin' in the rain
And now my family is one again
Stapled together with the strangers and a friend
Came to my mind I should paint it with a pen
Six years old I remember when

Panting slightly, she made it through a good few verses. Singing was fun- it was a natural talent of mine. And that song was perfect for her, she was British, like Ed Sheeran.

  • Hot, salty tears lunged for Stagkit's vision as soon as he realized what the first stanza of the song was. He reeled, head feeling submerged in water, boiling water, clouding his eyes with, what was that... rage? He returned with an angry lash of his claws, sinking into the ground and shooting a heated glare at the ground. "Tactless!" he screamed, partly directed at Elliekit, partly directed at himself. He swung his head to glare at the kitten with rapidly-falling tears. It wasn't her fault she chose to sing this song. It was his fault that he chose to take it so far into his heart, as if all that mattered was himself. And to him, it did.

It hurt him because in his view of the world, his fall had crippled him forever, basically sentencing him to living death. Nobody cried for him. Nobody would look at him in the way that couples looked at each other. Because he'd never be wrapped up in life and love, and whatever else she sang about. Her only flaw was that her singing was so nice that it actually made a difference.

Ellie was quite taken aback by his response. Well then.... what was going on with him? Flinching at his words, the girl's gaze drifted to her toes, guilt filling her body. Why did she have to make Stagkit feel so bad? Ugh, she was a failure. Even when she did something she could really do, it lead to hurting others.

  • "Whoa, whoa, whoa. What was that for?" Rookfeather bounded over, having observed both the song and the outburst, and immediately rushed to Elliekit's defense. His sympathies were elicited a bit when he noticed Stagkit's tears, but he was still rather upset that he'd choose to take out whatever issue he was having on her. Clanmates were supposed to support each other, not yell at each other for apparently no reason. "You okay, Stagkit? Something wrong?" He asked, tone softening as he regarded the kit. Turning to Elliekit, he meowed warmly, "I thought your singing was very nice. You have a lovely voice."

  • "Of course there's something wrong!" Stagkit howled, throwing his head up to the sky like a wolf howling for the moon to come back. His breath came in rasping sobs, and he staggered away from them, nearly tripping himself with his lame leg, not having the strength to lift it up again. "My brother threw me off a building!" he wailed. He was a kitten. He didn't have the strength of character to push himself to be stronger and better because of this. He took his anger out in the only way he knew how. "It's n-n-n-not y-y-you," he hiccuped, looking at Elliekit, but that may as well have been a glare, with his mismatched eyes practically glowing with anger and tears streaming down his cheeks. "i-i-it's m-m-m-m-me!"

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=0px; width: 400px; height: auto; margin-top: -15px;][justify]"I didn't!" Gorsekit protested, arriving at Elliekit's side. The pale tabby stared at Stagkit, eyes wide. Well, yeah, he technically did, but he didn't mean to! Gorsekit looked towards Elliekit, ears flattened. "Yeah, you sung great." He mumbled, not sure if his grammar was correct or not. Then he faced his brother again, not sure what to do. Gorsekit's instincts and brother love told him to go to Stagkit and comfort him, but he didn't know what to do.

''it's okay, let it all out.'' the egyptian mau wasn't sure what to say, so she just offered these words.

  • Speak of the devil. Stagkit hadn't seen Gorsekit in awhile. And instead of being able to confront him in a calm manner, he was throwing up a fit like a fox. He felt the least bit sorry for Elliekit for ruining her singing thing, but his nerves were frayed. "You did!" he shrieked at his brother, eyes nearly glazed with tears and the heat of the moment. "And l-l-l-look a-at y-y-y-you," he snarled, menace diminished by the hiccuping, lashing his tail. "y-you're n-n-n-n-not ev-even t-t-t-trying to sa-sa-say s-s-s-sorry!" Would they punish a kit for stirring up drama, he wondered in a remote part of his mind. Probably not, but he wanted to be safe.

He glared at the ground, sitting himself down and taking deep breaths. "I...." he mumbled, looking away, now suddenly ashamed of himself.

Ellie began crying as he began to shout. She had seen the entire thing. Gorse was fooling around and Stag slipped. Nothing was intentional, just a bad mistake. She had even healed him, too. I-I'm sorry... She murmured, ears flattening.

  • Oh, boy. This had turned into a big mess. Rookfeather wasn't exactly sure what had happened between Gorsekit and Stagkit, but obviously it had been something bad. He shot a grateful look at his daughter for her help. "Thanks, Cherrycola. Elliekit, it's gonna be okay." He meowed calmly, in what he hoped was a reassuring tone. The dispatcher turned to Stagkit and Gorsekit with a more stern expression now. "Now, I don't know what happened between the two of you. But you need to work it out before this escalates even further. Stagkit, you're clearly upset because you think Gorsekit hurt you. Gorsekit, perhaps explain what you think happened--without blaming anyone. Your brother thinks you owe him an apology, and I can't make you give him a sincere one, but if I were you, I'd definitely consider it, depending on what happened. Nobody else has to get hurt--physically or emotionally--today."

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Finalkit watched as his father handled the situation. He didn't understand what was going on at all, but he just decided to make a statement of his own. "I suppose that a compromise should be made before further issues escalate." The tom thought, and glanced at Elliekit. "And whatever you were doing with your voice....I have never heard anything like it. It was adequate, I suppose."

  • Stagkit hiccuped and gasped for air, all the while not daring to look at Gorsekit, or anybody for that matter, because he might burst into tears again. "I-I-It's n-n-n-n-not y-you, I s-s-said!" he stutter-hissed at Elliekit, nerves set on fire because she was crying too. It wasn't all about her, thought the hypocrite who was thinking the exact same thing about himself. He cast an annoyed glare towards Finalkit, a glare so annoyed that the fire of the annoyance would consume a thousand stars before it ever reached anger. He opened his mouth to speak, but then thought better of it. In a fit of jealousy and blinded rage, he uttered one last sentence, "Y-You're n-n-n-not ev-ever g-g-gonna g-g-get h-h-him to ap-apologize.", before limping off the thread.
