  • Alright,

So, I could really use some ideas on making my own role plays. I know that I want it to be fantasy but it can't be over board, I also know that there has to be room for character development. It would be nice as a small group but very fun and creative. Everyone should be able to make their own character backgrounds. I want it to take place on a different planet for sure but not with orcs or elves, as stated earlier. I would really appreciate some ideas, leave any cool ones in the comment section! Thank you!

  • So when it comes to Fantasy, you want something not stereotypically Tolkein, so what kind of fantasy are you looking for? Different Planet may suggest Sci-fi Fantasy or some kind of hyped up Steampunk or simply another world or universe that's different from our own. (Similar to how Final Fantasy takes place across different planes.) I would love to help you though. If you want to specify a little more of what you don't want and do want.

PS: You are also being very clear, but to nail down in specific the level of fantasy we want to look for and delve into would be easier than just spewing ideas. In my opinion anyways.

  • Harrowing Souls,

I would just not prefer any magic involved, it would however be cool to be an alternate universe but I don't know how to make that realistic and not involve any sort of different race or magic of some sort. Si-fi would also be very interesting, I was thinking along the lines of futuristic, along the lines of laser guns, hover boards, etc, etc.

  • Alright, I get it. Yeah I see that regular fantasy is kinda hard to pull off without diversity such as magic and races, however it is somewhat possible. It's hard to describe in words I get what you mean by keeping it in a fantasy setting but still keeping it realistic. My friend is currently striving to make a fantasy rp where we each have actual human limits even with the help of magic and our individual race's powers. That is definitely hard. Dungeon's and Dragons and Tolkein's works definitely show human limit despite the race's and the magic involved, but avoiding the magic and races in general would definitely make it slightly lacking.

As for the Sci-fi, I don't know a whole lot about that. But perhaps going more the modern route with a mix of sci-fi would be fun. You could also do it like a Guardians of the Galaxy sort of deal where each planet is fairly different in diversity and world development. Space is truly infinite so having a band of friends travelling to completely uncivilized planets all the way to high-tech government controlled grounds would definitely be fun.

I don't want to rant too much so tell me your thoughts before I continue.
