  • Mei grabbed a barrel, throwing up into it and making Sayomi cringe. “I hope that was empty...” He muttered. Guess Goji wasn’t the only one seasick.

    “Oh god we’re all gonna die...” Mei next started to sob.

    “Will somebody please calm her down?!” Sayomi hissed.

  • Myaro shakes her head. “No, there was one other time. One of father’s training exercises involves learning how to fight when on a boat. He said the storm was no excuse, up until my brother fell overboard and nearly drowned. We fished him out, and had the rest of the combat training below decks, because father didn’t allow us to turn back home till the exercise was over. It still wasn’t fun.”

    She chuckles softly at the memory, before hearing Sayomi. She gets up, and goes to Mei, pulling the barrel over near one of the bunks, and trying to get her to lay down. “It’s easier the closer you are to the ground. This way you’ll move with the boat, rather than it moving against you.” She suggests.

  • Murasa closed her eyes as a wave rose up and cascaded over the boat, nearly washing a few people overboard. The shrieking winds rendered her yells almost unheard, although with Mamizou acting as a messenger she was able to relay commands and orders. So far she judged they were maybe a quarter through the squall, which was a bit worse than she anticipated. Thgunder rumbled overhead. Murasa sighed, rain pelting the whole ship. The raindrops fell in harsh winds, which drove them against peoples skin violently. It was like being assaulted by tiny needles constantly, a uncomfortable sensation you never really got used too, no matter how many times you went through it. A knot securing the mast shut began to unravel, although a nearby sailor caught it and fixed the situation. Luckily, the bilge hadn't rose too much.

    =====

    Down below deck, Goji listened to Myaro's response. "Makes sense, although your father sounds like a hardass. Then again, I suppose all the best mentors are..." he gazed towards Mei, who understandably probably never had to deal with this sensation before. "Good advice, that," Fujiwara remarked, laying down in her bunk as well. "Everything alright?" A familiar voice asked. Fujiwara rolled onto her other side, facing Parsee, who was nearby. "...mostly. Goji-kun here is probably gonna hurl chunks at any moment and Mei-san's convinced the world is ending..."

    "Oi! I'm not so weak as to just go vomiting just because I feel a bit quesy!" Goji groaned in protest. Parsee studied the barrel. "Don't worry, that's an empty barrel that had some food stuffs in it a while back. I guess someone forgot to throw it away. That, or maybe they used it for some dumb game."

    "Murasa-sensei said that you were in the cargo deck. Is everything alright?" Fujiwara asked. Parsee shrugged. "Everything's lashed down. As long as we don't get any sort of flooding down there, should be alright."

    "Did you say flooding..?" Goji asked, concern in his voice. Parsee nodded, "Well yeah. When waves are taller than the ship and they hit us it's inevitable some water is gonna find it's way down here. Sometimes leaks spring up too, but those are usually easily fixed with some resin....don't worry, you won't drown or anything like that unless something catastrophic happens."

    "Oh wow, thanks for the comfort," Goji mumbled sarcastically. Parsee looked up towards the ceiling in thought, where the distant roar of wind and rain could be heard, coupled with the occasional creaks and groans coming from the wood around them. "If the seasickness is really bad for you, I'd advise going to the middle of the ship," she advised Mei. "It might also do well for you to eat something. I can get you some crackers if you'd like...?"

  • Mei couldn’t do much except for groan in response to all these questions.

    “I dunno maybe it would be better not to move her.” Sayomi muttered, mostly because he didn’t want to get puked on.

    (I feel bad my posts are so short compared to yours. I just can’t seem to write long posts on this website I don’t understand)

  • OC: Don't worry about it, haha. My posts aren't anything special at all, the main reason they're so long or longer than yours is because of interaction between my characters, so in essence it's nothing but meaningless fluff. next post I can spice things up a bit, and then afterwards smooth sailing ahead...literally

    IC: Parsee nodded. "I'll be back," she told them, moving away. A few minutes later she came back, some dried crackers in her hand. "Here, these should help settle your stomach a bit," she told Mei, holding them out towards her. "...Oi...can I get some of those too?" Goji groaned. Parsee shifted her gaze towards him and handed him a few crackers, which he began slowly nibbling on. "...why is it so tasteless?" he complained. "because salt can only go so far in terms of flavor," Parsee replied.

    OC: see? short post here because there's not much to go of in the way between interaction of my characters

  • Mei took the crackers and began to eat them slowly, nibbling the corner on the cracker. She took about a millimetre bite at a time.

    “Will I puke the baby out?!”

    “You know babies arent really in your belly right? But it probably isn’t too good for it to throw up too much.” Sayomi mumbled.

  • "I couldn't say for certain," Parsee remarked. "I've never had a kid, nor have I had to really take care of one."

    "I don't want a kid. Annoying little brats," Fujiwara remarked. "Plus...having ties like that is just another weakness for enemies to exploit."

    "Aren't you the cynical one?" Parsee replied. Goji groaned. "Comes with our line of work," he breathed. "Oh god how much longer are we going to have to deal with this?"

    "A few days, at the least," Parsee replied. "...at worst, a few weeks. Storms like this can get ridiculously big...." At that moment, the ground angled violently sideways as the ship listed towards the portside. Parsee let out a small gasp and grabbed a nearby support beam, managing to keep herself from sliding down and slamming into the wall. Goji and Fujiwara held onto their bunks, which thankfully did not move due to being tethered to support themselves.

    ========

    Meanwhile, up on the deck, Murasa found herself struggling to keep the ship moving forward, a particularly big wave slamming into their side and actually shoving it towards the west while forcing it to list to the right rather heavily. A few sailors cried out as the wave washed over them, managing to push a few overboard. Luckily enough, ropes tied to their waist kept them from possibly drowning in the sea below. She managed to get them realigned, only for the rigging holding one of the sails to come undone. "Someone get that handled!" she barked. Several sailors began swarming the mast, attempting to climb up. However, a violent gust of wind caught the sails and yanked the ship forward. The plus side? They were moving significantly faster. The bad side was that Murasa was more than aware the mast could not handle such forces, cracks beginning to appear at the base. With a thunderous crack, the mast itself broke, ropes swinging everywhere as it tilted sideways, slamming into the side of the ship and sliding into the water. "Cut it now!" someone shouted, the sailors now beginning to cut the ropes securing the mast to the ship. Within a few moments the mast, now no longer tethered to the boat, slipped overboard, splashing into the sea below. Murasa gritted her teeth, realigning the boat, which continued to move forward, thunder and lightning violently flashing in the skies above, venting the wrath of what she only assumed was a very angry sea god.

  • “Hmm... it is kind of expected for me to settle down and have children. I’ve been trying to find a wife but well... they’re only interested in me for my status.” He said with a sigh. “Guess I’ll just have to choose someone whose a good fit for the empire.”

    It was then that the wave hit. Sayomi’s stool, which he was seated on, nearly toppled over but he grabbed a nearby bed frame.

    Touma was caught off guard and found himself tumbling to the floor. Mei screamed in terror, grabbing ahold of her bed frame.

    The loud snap and splash made Sayomis head snap in the direction of the noises.

    “What the hell-?!”

  • Myaro stumbles, glad she was already close to the ground, and also grabs onto Mei’s bedframe. “Alright, this definitely tops the storm I experienced before.” She says, going to sit on her bunk, and trying to keep calm. She closes her eyes, and lays down, focusing on stilling her emotions.

  • Parsee's face paled a little as the ship settled into a more normal, albeit still chaotic, pattern of swaying left and right. However, she quickly regained her composure. "Probably a wave managed to hit something topside that wasn't secured enough and washed it overboard," she replied. Fujiwara nodded, easily accepting the explanation. Goji, for his part, looked about ready to vomit. "...please tell me that won't happen again..." he groaned. "It shouldn't. Hopefully," Parsee replied readily. "We won't exactly know for sure how things are topside until the storm abates..." she turned her attention towards Mei. "Are you alrght? Is everyone alright, for that matter?"

    "Fine,..." Goji groaned.

    "Could be better, considering I feel like we might've almost died," Fujiwara replied, her voice devoid of emotion.

  • Myaro looks up. “I’m fine. I can handle this just fine.” She says. She doesn’t look comfortable by any means, but she’s not going to vomit, so as far as she’s concerned, she’s fine. She’s really more worried about Mei, and the child she carries. She shouldn’t be having this much excitement.

  • (Oh shoot was it my turn to reply this whole time?! Oh my gosh I’m so sorry I never knew! I’ll write a reply right away! I must’ve missed these replies!)

    Mei was tearing up in fear. “Are we gonna fall over?! The wave will knock us over?!” Sayomi reaches out to grab her hand.

    “Stop it, the boat isn’t going to topple over! The sailors know what their doing!” Though he seemed like he was trying to comfort her he didn’t exactly say it in a comforting way. It was more like he was yelling at her.

    Touma pushes himself back to his feet once the boat settled again.

    “Ow... I think I’m okay... I hit my shoulder when I fell but...” He gasped in pain when he tried to move it. “I-I’m fine...” He assured them, definetly seeming anything but.

  • "The term you're looking for is 'capsize'," Parsee told Mei informatively, although not helpfully. "...but don't worry, that last one wasn't much to worry about. Long as we don't get a rogue wave, we'll be fine..." her gaze shifted over towards Touma, a wary look entering her eyes. "Touma-san, I warn you that acting tough is no good on a ship; any sort of illness could be the death of us all, and without proper aid, even a small cut can lead to death; and if you injure a limb, further work with said limb may cause incapacitation, which means one less person to work. If you're injured, I'd like to know, please." She tried to phrase it in a way that wouldn't come off as harsh or angry. "Well, it makes sense" Goji replied, breathing heavily. "How much longer is this going to go on?!"

    "Well, sometimes it can be for a week, in a worst case scenario," Parsee replied. "I'm not really topside much, though, so I can't say much more."

    ========

    Meanwhile, Murasa assessed the next wave, judging that it wouldn't be an issue. "How much longer do you think before we're out?" Riku shouted in her ear. "We're on the edge, so not much longer!" she shouted back. If the storm was this bad at the edge, she was glad they weren't in the thick of it. "I give another hour or so, give or take....OI! SECURE THAT CRATE!" she shouted at a neary sailor, though the wind tore her voice away, carrying it over the edge. "Ill get it," Riku said, moving down to the main deck and running towards the now sliding crate, rope in hand. Lightning crackled over head, providing a brief illumination of the area. "Come on girl, just a litttllleeee bit longer..." she whispered to the ship, trying not to look at the broken mast.

    OC: overdue reply is overdue, my apologies.

  • Myaro just sits on the floor of the cabin, breathing deeply. “Whether the boat capsizes is not our problem.” She says simply. She closes her eyes. “Worrying about it will accomplish nothing. The best thing we can do is relax, and trust the people up top to protect us.”

  • Touma tensed slightly at those words. He was a soldier he wasn’t supposed to show weakness but he gave a slight nod.

    “My arm... I think I hurt it when I fell...” he confessed. Sayomi gave a frustrated sigh.

    “Hopefully I won’t need a bodyguard until we get home.”

    Touma gave an apologetic nod and moved to sit down somewhere.

    Sayomi gave a sigh as he sat on the bed next to Mei.

    “Being in this shifting thing makes me feel sick...”

    “Your telling me we’re going to be in this terrible storm for that long?!” Mei whined.

  • OC: i feel like the whole trip back was nothing but a 'filler episode'. Time to get things back on track. By the way Mossy, have you thought of any potential plots for after the group gets back to Seseon? It's been quite a while, so surely you must have something totes awesome cooked up. Or maybe not; if its the latter, we should start the think tank up so we got something to put our lovely characters through for when they get back to Seseon.

    Also, I dunno if I ever asked, but where did you come up with the name 'Seseon'? It reminds me of Season, so I wonder if that was the base word for it or whatever.

    IC: Parsee pursed her lips, thinking critically. "Let me fetch Yugiri-sensei and have her look at it," Parsee replied, "she's our onboard doctor for situations like this. Thank goodness it doesn't look like anything serious; there's not much we can do for a chopped arm or disembowelment, for example...."

    "D-disembowelment?!" Goji gasped.

    "Don't ask," Parsee mumbled, ducking out of the room and disappearing. "Sounds like fun stuff," Fujiwara remarked dryly. It was not long before Parsee returned, this time with an older looking woman with auburn hair and eyes. "PLeasure to meet you all, I'm Yugiri Yoshida, pleasure to meet you...." she bowed to them, managing to perform the act reasonably well, despite the odd angle the ship was currently listed too. She resumed her posture, her eyes locking onto Touma instantly. "Let's see....Touma-san, was it? Allow me to see your arm, please...." Yugiri walked foward. "...before I look into it more thoroughly, however, can you attempt to rotate your arm in all possible directions? Depending on if you still have full movement or not, it could be just a simple sprain...."

    "As for the storm, we were on the edge, last time I checked, so it shouldn't be too long," Parsee remarked.

    =====

    Meanwhile up above the ship Murasa noted the clear skies ahead. "Lookie there, we actually made it!" she said cheerully. The wind was still heavy and the waves were big, but it was clear they were not so big enough to make the ship list dangerously. Riku, having returned from chewing out a few careless sailors, returned and leaned on the back railing of the ship, staring at the foreboding storm that was behind them. The once torrential rain had subsided to a light sprinkle now, punctuated by the occasional wave that broke over the bow of the ship. "....you think that storm is heading for land?" he asked thoughtfully. "Mm....possibly. I pray for any unlucky country whose coast has to bear the brunt of that beast...." she stared at their broke mast mournfully. "If we can't get a solution for that, the journey will take a bit longer than what I'd want...."

    "We still got two more masts," Riku told her. "And there's oars too, if anything.

    "Hah....I suppose our guests can be put to use after all...." Murasa remarked with a chuckle. "...you do realize one of them is the sovereign prince, right?" he asked her. Murasa had a wicked glint in her eyes. "Yeah, but not all of them are royalty!"

    ======

    The ship's chaotic lurching seemed to return to its onormal rocking, although after the heavy beating, it was hard to tell what was normal and what was not. "See? Things have calmed down~" Parsee said cheerfully, a smile on her face.

    "I still feel like puking...." Goji groaned, curling up into a ball in his bunk. "Thank you, Myaro-san, for having faith in us," Parsee remarked after a few moments of regarding Yugiri's interaction with Touma. "I recall a few passengers we had taken on a few years back, and we were in a similar situation...they did not take to it as well as you all did. We had to throw them in the brig after a while for the next month as we made our way back...."

    "Wow, that must've sucked," Fujiwara said.

    "For them, perhaps...."

    "Yooooo!" A loud voice shouted into the cabin. A moment later Mamizou appeared in the doorway. "Murasa-chan just gave the go ahead for you all to come topside, if you want some fresh air!"

    "Mamizou....please shut up," Yugiri remarked through clenched teeth. Mamizou grinned sheepishly as she replied, "....although you might not like what you see...."
