Hinata was up early today, snooping around by the walls. Probably for an exit. He had gotten into a fight with one of his older siblings and he didn't want to face anyone right now. If he could only find some way to the other side of the wall. He ran his hands along the stone walls as he walked the perimeter of the castle, avoiding people as he went. He soon gave up and decided he would just have to deal with the scolding so he turned around and angrily started marching off to find breakfast. There was no way they would ever get him to apologise to his spoiled brat of a sibling. The only person he mildly showed any respect to was the emporer, and that's only because he doesn't want to be beheaded or somethig.

The emperor at this time was always sound asleep. He rarely got up on his own and was a pretty heavy sleeper. (Note that he doesn't share a room with his wife/wives.) His long silky hair was an absolute giant mess in the morning, it went every which way across his pillow turning it into some kind of hair monster and mass of tangles.

  • Hikaru was up for 2 hours doing her hair and makeup to make herself looking beautiful to others. She hated every moment of it. She hated putting on her silky kimono that was cherry blossom pink and she hated covering up her big feet which she loved. When Hikaru was young she thought her feet would save her from marriage because men these days like women with small feet. Her family tried everything to make it small but nothing worked. She also had a muscular build which she eorked so hard to get and she thought that might save her from marriage too but it didn't. Hikaru couldn't save herself from being married to the emperor, a man she thinks she will never love. The only good thing is that they are not married yet so Hikaru might be able to save herself. Hikaru stepped out of her room and made her way into the dining room for breakfast.

  • Ella tossed and turned soundly in her bed, wrapping the big, silken sheets against her. Unfortunately, she continued to roll until she fell off the bed and onto the floor. Immediately waking up, she rubbed her head and sat up, with sleepy expression on her face. She gave a deep, long yawn as she stood up. After picking up the sheets from off the floor, she through them onto the bed in a messy, haphazard manner. She didn't see the point to going back to bed since it was already morning, so she walked over to her bedroom's window. She wondered if the sun was out; maybe she could watch the sunrise. She watched the colors in the sky for a bit until she felt a grumble in her stomach. Perceiving she was hungry, she changed clothes and brushed out her long hair, as she stumbled out of her room to the kitchen.

  • Oc: hat would a servant or lesser person call the emperor? I doubt they'd use western terms such as sire or M'lord, maybe master perhaps? Eastern terms arentn something I'm familiar with evidently XD

Marisa was up and fully attentive, sweeping dust from the shelves a servant had missed. She was in charge of all the other servants, and did her best to divide the workload but sometimes places like this got out. No doubt people were just now getting up. Waking up at such early hours was nothing for Marisa. After she was done she deposited the cloth into a pocket, and navigated her way to the kitchen. Already the servants were finishing up breakfast for the castle personnel. Marisa opened a door past the royal kitchen, passing by the advisors office. In this office michiko awoke bleary eyed at his desk. As his eyes refocused he smiled. He had fallen asleep doing paperwork again. Pushing aside the taxes, he began filing the daily tariffs the prefectures owed the emperor.
Marisa opened the door into the emperors bedroom. "M'lord, what do you wish for breakfast?" She called softly. If he was not awake she would fall back and wait for him to wake up while serving the other castle personnel, and if he was awake she would take his order and prepare the food.
Meanwhile, in the Kaguya prefecture, Noriko was over viewing the prefectures pre set prices for the stalls. On his desk was a glass of tea, which he drank occasionally. He was also working on a speech to give to the people.

  • Hinata reluctantly made his way to the dinning room for breakfast. He shuffled his feet along hardwood floor as he kept an eye out for anyone that wanted to scold him or give him a hard time, since he wasn't technically of Nobel blood he got picked on from time to time by some of the older siblings. Once it resulted in physical violence and Hinata was locked in the dungeon for a night as punishment. He was still afraid of the dungeon to this day. The other sibling never got punished for it, he got a scolding and that was it. Hinata shook his head to chase the bitter memory away and entered the room with a long table down the centre for the royal family to sit at. The emporer didn't eat here he ate alone.

The emporer jolted slightly before sitting up, his hair absolutely crazy this morning. "Hmm...? What? Um... Something simple... I... Suppose..." He fell back into the sheets again easily falling fast asleep. This was a common occurance, he would probably wake up three more times before he actaully got up for good.

  • Oc:how does the food serving work? Do servants just prepare a large variety of food and let the royalty choose for themselves, make a set meal and distribute it or do they take individuals orders and make the food base don their whim? The emperors excluded (for obvious reasons)
Ic: Marisa nodded, closing the door softly. Some tea and rice with chopped fish would probably be adequate. She cluttered to the kitchen and set to it with a vengeance, all concentration focused on making the meal as perfect as possible. An observant viewer could easily tell she was from another land, given her blonde hair and especially her red eyes. Yet despite her differences she had easily managed to obtain her rank.
Michiko sighed as he finished the tariffs, got up and walked towards the royal hall. As he stepped into the hall, he caught sight of glum Hinata. No doubt he had gotten into some trouble.

  • (It would probably be easiest to make a bunch of food for them right? That's probably what they would do.)
Hinata glanced up at Michiko and scowled slightly before taking a seat at the far end of the table where he hoped he wouldn't be bothered. He was on edge today, exspecting anyone and everyone to give him a lecture. He had prepared a bunch of nasty comebacks for that.

  • Hikaru took a seat 3 chairs away from Hinata. She wondered what the servants were going to make for breakfast. It was a good thing the emperor didn't eat here, a good thing for her at least. Hikaru actually didn't see her fiancée that much which she enjoyed but she rather not see him at all. She noticed Hinata wasn't in a good mood then she figured it out "in trouble today?" She asked him knowing the answer but she asked in a kind tone. She felt Hinata was admirable for how he stands up to the royal family, it was a shame he couldn't do the same for the emperor, she guess that was only a dream. She wasn't planning on lecturing him or scokding him because she couldn't do that, not that she wanted to anyway.

  • Oc: those are three ways but I was just wondering what your choice would be.
Doing so much research on this right now
Ic: Servants came out and placed various bowls and plates on the table. Among the food was rice and miso soup, along with some curry and grilled fish, with various other sides. Marisa walked past the table, inclingin her head respectfully to Hikaru but unable to bow, ndue to the tray she carried. A moment later she disappeared, and opened the door to the Emperors room. "M'lord your breakfast is ready," She called. Closing the door behind her, she slowl walks forward to hand him his tray, loaded with fried rice and grilled fish and a bowl of miso soup, and a cup of tea.
    -----
Noriko ate silently by himself, enjoying the serfs cooking. He had made good choices when picking them it had seemed. He contemplated paying a visit to the capitol to see what was going on with the Emperor.
    ------
Michiko readily piled food onto his tray and began eating it with relish, dexterously handling the chop sticks with ease. It was tiring work filing all the boards, not to mention giving advice to the emperor every so often. Politics were oten cutthroat andnnot kind to people like Michiko, but he had his ways and was an experienced participant in it. He was especially good at countering unwilling nobles finding loop holes or excuses to not do what their emperor asked for.

Ooc: I assume they use western style seating arrangements rather then the traditional mats and low laying tables?
I also assumed they use chopsticks since this is oriental based. I enjoy this, this is fun :3

  • Ella toddled into the dining room and saw that many others were already awake and sitting at the table. She smelled the pleasant aromas of the food and joyfully sat down near everyone else. Miso and rice...one of her personal favorites. She awaited the dish eagerly as she twirled a strand of her hair around her pointer finger. Looking around, she decided that the place wasn't very lively yet; she wondered how she could remedy that. "Good morning," she muttered out, hoping to start up a conversation.

Kimiko roused herself from her sleep after several failed attempts to wake up prior. She knew she was late for the day's work, but for whatever reason, she was just incredibly sleepy. Yawning and stretching, she finally crawled out of bed, slowly allowing her eyes to adjust to the bright light flooding in her bedroom window. She got dressed and put herself together before exiting the room. At first, she almost forgot her sword, but remembering it, she turned around to retrieve it. After she was sure that she had everything, she left her room and bolted the door. She wasn't very hungry so she decided to skip breakfast. Besides, she had slept in too late, and she felt that she needed to make up the work time someway.

  • Ayaka had just got into the dinning room. She still ran a hand through her hair as if unsure if it was brushed right. She sighed and sat down. She wished she could were something other than a dress, it would make it so much easier. She looked at her younger sister and smiled. "As to you, Ella." She said, giving a smile.

  • Emporer Eriko sat up again and tried to rub sleep from his droopy eyelids. He wasn't looking forward to the day but he put on a smile for the servant regardless. Normally that smile was dazzling but he was kind of a mess in the mornings. "Thank you." He said polightly to her and picked up his chopsticks to begin his meal. He somewhat missed being able to chat with his siblings around the table.

Hinata didn't take part in anyone's conversations. He put full concentration on his meal and decided it was safer not to make contact with anyone this morning. Especially if one of the siblings he didn't get along with were here. He picked at the fish he had chosen, unsatisfied. He wasn't really as hungry as he though, so he are just plain rice with eggs instead.

  • Ooc: I used some Japanese words
Hikaru bowed at Marisa respectfully since it was common courtesy. "Good morning, Ane(Ane means big sister and she is calling Ayaka that), and good morning to you Imouto(means little sister and is referencing to Ella) . It seems my darlingdecided to sleep in again" Hikaru took some miso soup and some tea. "I wonder how many things will change when Emperor Eriko and I marry. Beside me gaining the offical title of High Empress". Hikaru hated saying that out loud but it was good to start a conversation. At least a conversation will entertain her.

  • Ayaka smiled and glanced at her food. She pushed her hair back and looked at Hikaru. "Maybe you can allow girls to wear pants." She mumbled before pulling her hair back into a braid. Her brown eyes were abit fogged in thought but she was mainly paying attention. "You'll also be official part of this family, even though you are now."

  • "Thank you!" Ella smiled as she began to shovel the food into her tiny mouth. It was a wonder how she was able to stuff so much food into her face, but somehow she could. Well, she is a growing child after all. Ella glanced across the table at Hinata who was remaining quiet while eating his food. She stared at him as she gently swung her legs under the table, thinking of something to say. "So... you're not going to say anything?" she asked with that cutesy frown. Sometimes she tried to act as innocent and cute as possible to get people to talk to her...or to get out of trouble. Sometimes it worked; other times it did not.

Kimiko walked around to where the palace was. It was beautiful, ornate, and pristine as always. She sighed as she thought about the emperor she had to serve. She didn't really have much respect for him, but she'd never admit it. After all, such rebellious thoughts and attitude was socially unacceptable. She began to walk over to a group of soldiers. She figured it should almost be time for the morning training regime.

  • (There's also aneui, aniui which is like super duper respectful. As for darling you could say Anata or if your characters thinking of having kids or is with child, though I doubt she is lol, you could say otousan but that sounds very casual, I'm not sure if chichiui would work in this situation. Heh are you taking japanese too? Also, yes! Developing this countries culture and such is very fun!)

Hinata unconsciously humphed in response to her question and their conversation. He hadn't meant to do it, it had just slipped out. It had reminded him of how his mother had hounded him to get married as soon as possible and secure his position as a prince of the royal family. He dreaded the day he would have to get married. He wasn't even an adult yet as he hadn't had his first drink.

  • Marisa bowed, before taking her leave. Her duties finished for the meanwhile, she went straight for the larder intent on cataloguing the foodstuffs they had on hand. Then after that maybe a trip to town. Maybe.
    -------
Michiko smiled. "It'll be something I look forward to." He said. "Unlike the paperwork and logistics...." He muttered under his breath, before resuming his smile. "So what are the ladies plans for today?"
Oc: developing the background is fun but I think it would be too confusing to interchangeably switch between japanese and English.
I'm also studying the finer points in japenese and oriental culture (despite the fact I know a lot about it alrewdy) so I can rp as realistically as possible in the thread.

  • Hikaru said "I'm not sure the High Empress can make laws like that. Also there would be protest from men and men have better say than woman in this world so I guess you better speak to my Anata about that. Plus my mother would think that idea would embarrass my whole family" Hikaru took another sip of fea "Eriko is so lucky to have a high enough status for her not to nag at him". Hikaru laughed in her and and tried her best to keep it in but slight giggles escaped from her.

ooc: I looked those words up

  • Ella frowned when Hinata pushed her gesture away. "Well, be that way, then," she mumbled to herself as she finished her breakfast. She then looked her older sister there, "Would you be willing to teach me how to do my hair all pretty?" she asked with an eager look on her face. She had always thought her sister was pretty, and she always looked up to her.

  • Michiko refrained from saying anything negative.in truth he doubted the emperor would allow such a thing, but it was best not to wreck the ladies hopes. "Your awfully quiet Hinata, care to join us in conversation?" He wondered why the boy always distanced himself from others. Sure he was treated un fairly (something he didn't really like, but could do nothing about), but in his position Michiko would be used to it. However he was not in Hinatas place and thus could never properly understand. It was still unhealthy for one to be so jaded for one so young.
