roman is playing idly with a round pebble, throwing it up in the air and watching it as it falls back down.

  • Nicostrata padded up to Romanpaw, eyes shining with curiosity. "W-What are you doing?" He questioned, then hurried to add on; "I-If you don't mind me asking..."

Nico figured this might be a game. Maybe The Enterprise had some games that most groups didn't, or possibly, Roman was just throwing around a pebble for the hell of it. He didn't know, so he asked.

the young wolfdog catches the pebble, but doesn't throw it up again. instead, he glances at nico. "throwing a pebble," they reply languidly. "i'm bored," he adds, as if that will clear everything up.[/fancypost]template © wolfe.

  • "huh." Was all Nico had to offer as he twitched his tail nervously. This is where the conversation got rocky. Either it would continue to be awkward, Roman would see his struggle and throw him a bone, or Nico could simply walk away, leaving Roman with no choice but to hate him for the rest of eternity. Or, at least that's what Nicostrata thought. "Is there a-any particular rules to this pebble tossing?" He questioned, trying to converse.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 10.5px; color: white;]roman blinks at nico and turns to the pebble in his paw. they toss the pebble. he catches the pebble. the wolfdog turns back to nico. "no. you just throw the pebble. and then you catch it."

  • Nico almost sighed in exasperation. He was aware of his own anxiety making it difficult to converse, but trying to pull Romanpaw into conversation was like pulling teeth. Really painful.

He smiled, tail beginning to twitch. "S-so how ha-has your day be-been going?" He asked, cursing the nervous stutter that crawled into his voice.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 10.5px; color: white;]rome doesn't know (or care) that he's being exasperating. that's really just how they are. exasperating. really fucking exasperating.

"it's going fine," the wolfdog replies nonchalantly, still throwing the pebble.

  • Nicostrata felt his ear flick in annoyance. He grabbed a pebble, and began to mimic Rome. And by mimic, he was failing miserably. His pebble never landed in the same place twice, and he could never hope to catch it. Whether it was from nerves, or a sheer lack of ability, the pebble continued to evade him, to his greatest annoyance.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 10.5px; color: white;]rome watches nico fail to catch the pebble with great amusement, still throwing his own pebble and catching it with ease. the wolfdog considers helping the male, but they discard the idea. he can probably learn by himself. it just takes time. and practice. and intense boredom.

also, a spot of creativity, as evidenced when rome accidentally throws the pebble a bit too high and gets the brilliant idea to catch it with his head. so they do. the pebble slides off his nose and back onto his paw, where he resumes the throwing and catching.
