new powers: elemental ;; ability to grow ;; sound manipulation ;; etc.

[ ic: And, as if on cue, there was a sudden rumbling throughout the land. The pyramid itself shook, dust falling from loose stones as cracks shot through them. The great structure did not fall, but it seemed destined to at any moment. It was the desert itself, however, that the focus of anyone outside would have been focused upon. The very sands were lifting off of the ground, spinning together in something much more menacing than a simple sandstorm - no, the whirled with the power of a tornado, and yet there seemed to be more dust and rock than wind itself. The twister did not move, but simply spun, growing wider as the moments passed.

It was not long until something from within the funnel ignited, shooting violet flames up the length of it. They spun as well, but died down just as quickly as they arrived. The tornado faded as well, the sands dropping to form dunes once more, and what little flame was left to burn did so within a small wall of black pillars. They had shot up from the ground itself, it would seem, and they were marked with glowing runes of magicks that were not of the Loa. At least, not of any Loa the Horde followed.

There was an enormous explosion. It was as if a fist of bright, violet flame had punched its way through the pillars. They shot out in all directions, landing anywhere from the distant desert sands to the market right next to the pyramid. One even dropped directly into the oasis pool, darkening its waters to a red pigment that was not so appealing to the eye.

Smoke and flames rushed out as well, but did not go so far, seeming to remain circled around the origin point of the explosion and tornado. They swirled for a moment before dimming down, exposing a creature of familiar, and yet unknown, descent. A dark symbol seared the ground beneath him, and it seemed as if the earth itself was inching away from the creature.

There, before all of the Horde, stood a jackal whose fur burned, rock rolling around within his lava-like exterior. He was gargantuan - the size of a whale, no doubt. Black horns of what looked almost like obsidian curled back on his center-most head - of which there were three. The additional pair looked fiercely towards the pyramid, though they were of mute expressions compared to the main face. It was smiling, a sickening grin having plastered itself upon the Cerberus's features.

Its eyes glowed a bright yellow, void of pupils - void of anything to express a sense of mortality. The same glow that filled the orbs seemed to match that which was exiting his slightly opened maw, but not only that - his chest was glowing as well. It seemed as if there were flames within him as well, burning with an unending fury. Surely the creature was one borne of hellfire. Surely it was evil.

Suddenly, it laughed a laugh that shook the ground, echoed around it as the other heads joined in to manipulate the sound. It rolled through even the tunnel walls, forcing anyone who had not noticed his presence before to do just that. Dark clouds rolled overhead, taunting the desert dwellers with a rain that would not fall.

"Such hollow, empty minds," The creature chuckled, and though it sounded as if more than one voice rang out, only the center-most head spoke. It was a voice that was so familiar, and yet the manipulation placed upon it shook its foundation to an almost unknown sort. Few would know the creature's name, and even fewer would attribute it to the body before them.

And thus, as the hourglass is flipped over once more and the sands of time begin tumbling down into the dawn of a new era. The only thing that could ever threaten the Horde is its creator.

Nasus Ghede had returned to reclaim his throne.

Shax felt as though she should be relieved by the return of her old comrade and great leader, but this.. this was not the Nasus she knew.

Retreating from the interior of the pyramid due to that awful noise, Shax made it outside and her maw gaped at the sight of the infernal beast. It was quite clearly Nasus, but also not so. She thought he was gone for good, but no.. he had, of course, returned- for better or worse. "N-nasus?" Questioned the now ex-chief. It was an ignorant question of course, or perhaps not ignorant at all- the real question was, [i]was this Nasus? Was this in fact the jackal that had led the Horde to greatness?

Shax watched around herself in horror as, one by one, the Horde's relics and sacred areas were desecrated. The oasis, no.. that was where the Loa resided most prevalently, Nasus knew that. And Shax would not stand idly by as her home was destroyed by this behemoth. "Nasus!" Called out the jaguar, practically quivering in fear as she stared up at the menacing cerberus. "W-what is the meaning of this? Why are you.. destroying this sacred place?"[/fancypost][fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 430px; border-bottom: 4px solid #161616; margin-top: -10px;][/fancypost]

Shax seemed to know the creature, so Iri was silent on that part, merely out of shock and nervousness. " ...what's happening? " was what he said, glancing at everyone in an almost nervous way.

[ ic: The creature, dubbed by the name of Nasus, watched as the members of the Horde presented themselves to him. They were new, and though he had not met them personally yet, he knew each name by the voices that whispered to him now. It was Shax, however, that he focused his attention upon first. It would seem that, even now, she recognised his being - he might have been proud once before. But, no, he looked upon her with something close to disappointment and amusement, as if the two might somehow meld together properly.

And as she spoke his name, he knelt, taking only a half step forward before kneeling to face her. "I will show you the meaning of sacred," The skies above began to crackle at the noting of 'sacred,' and his pelt seemed to burn brighter. He sucked in a long breath before allowing another, much more guttural, chuckle, to escape him. "So eager to find meaning in nothingness. You always have been."

He lifted up once more, looking down to all who stood before him. "I am Nasus. The true leader of the Horde," He declared. "And I will no longer watch as my people are... Corrupted. Mortals are not meant to rule," His eyes only momentarily glanced down upon Shax, and each word was drowned in criticism. While she had done nothing wrong in the eyes of the other Horde members, she had become nothing to the Cerberus but another mortal. He would now allow her to rule any longer. "Though I might commend you for first sensing me, but none can save the masses from what I have in store. This is the way your world ends."

He had gone mad with power, seemingly turning away the teachings of the Loa and the spirits themselves- or perhaps even Mauji as well. This.. this would never do. Shax feared to oppose Nasus, but she knew that she must try.

She was slightly taken aback by his words, things about mortals and corruption. Nasus clearly had an air of superiority around him, but who could blame him? He was fairly powerful in this.. evil state, so to speak. "The spirits told me alone that the sky fire is where the end begins.." Stated Shax quietly, as if pondering her own thoughts- or the thoughts of the spirits. Because, right now, she could tell that even they were fearful, somehow. Perhaps Nasus simultaneously inhabited to planes of being.. "They say this must not be." Stated the shaman suddenly, head jolting up to allow her eyes to meet Nasus's.

But, as the skies opened and Nasus glowed even more powerfully, Shax began to lose hope. The raw energy contained within the being in front of her caused an air of dismay to wash over the jaguar as she felt her knees beginning to weaken. She could not stand against Nasus. Not now, anyways. Shax had utterly no choice but to submit. Shax, having been kicked off of her imaginary pedestal with such force, fell to her knees. "I submit. I will not oppose you. D-do not trifle with the spirits, Nasus. I.. submit."[/fancypost][fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 430px; border-bottom: 4px solid #161616; margin-top: -10px;][/fancypost]

Riddick left his position as soon as the quakes settled, only to find a group established and observing what appeared to be a giant jackal. To say that the display this 'Nasus' had put on didn't impress him would be a lie. In this day and age, creatures with such powers were a dime a dozen and most believed themselves to be gods, demons, and superior to all others. And even given all of that, Nasus was the first to actually prove it just by his presence alone. Riddick would have shivered if he wasn't stuck in a detached state of mind. He really ought to figure out what caused that. He made his way over to Shax and her group and tilted his head up to watch the massive red monster. His green and red eyes blinked once and he tipped his head to the side. [b]"Are you destroying the Horde?"

It really would be just his luck if that was Nasus's plan. He finally found a group to stay in permanently and a huge demonlord would return to stamp it out. Oh the irony.

[ ic: Destroying the Horde? The very thought made Nasus want to laugh, though, for once, he did not. He only looked over the Voice and tilted each head in succession. He extended a paw theatrically and swung it over their heads. "For what reason might I have to destroy this, the home in which I created for you?Is it a wish of yours to lose this gift?" His question was asked with poison tipped on each word - though with what reason he had offered such an open-ended threat was not shown.

"I am simply here to take upon my throne once more. You have wasted your power, Shax Kalfu, and I have only added to mine. I, one of the ascended, now see my true goal. There will be no more forgiven souls, no more loa to save the day. Mortality is guilt, and all will be judged," He hummed, and it became evident that he was slowly beginning to shrink. He stopped after a moment, though he was still slightly larger than a normal bred jackal might have been. He moved to walk through the group now, a dark smile crossing his features.

How fun this would be. "I do hope you are all up to a meeting later. We have much to discuss."
