[justify][sub]maybe there could be different sects (pagan, wiccan, green, white, hedge witchcraft, dianic witches maybe, etc.) and a "head" of each one, and they form the high positions of the clan? maybe there wouldn't be a leader, but a council of these high positions that vote on different topics (or, the leader could just be a moderator on these topics and have the final say if there's a tie of votes. maybe they have a leader, but they aren't regarded with as much importance as other clans look up to their leaders.)
the apprentices could be called electic witches because they get to train in whatever field of witchcraft they want, and when they graduate they could pick with sect they want to be a part of; maybe the elders could be called solitary witches because they leave the group they worked in when they retire.
just make sure that you are definite in the types of witchcraft, since there are so many subgroups within and outside of (since witchcraft isn't religious in itself unless you incorporate it into occult-type faiths) pagan and wiccan faiths. it's a really broad scale, though, so there are a lot of different types with vastly different beliefs and styles of practice.
idk, witchcraft is my thing so i'm probably rambling by now, but i'd really like to see this happen + i would totally make a character for it \o/

And maybe, concluding to the council, you could maybe have it segregated, where each council member has their type of witches in a different area of their territory.
