Hakunapaw Dubois!
Most of his friends and family knew by now that he had been addicted to comic books lately. The thought of actually being able to fly and being looked up to as a hero was extraordinary to the young lion cub, thus explaining the cape he had been wearing lately around his neck. Even though it was originally only a blanket, hakuna was hoping to find the time to conjure up one soon with a more silky material and the letter "H" written across it. the only other thing he needed was a mask, an explanation to how he got his super powers, an archenemy, a catchy slogan, and a fancy superhero name. The "Hakuna master" title would probably work for his official name, but everyone that was close to him already knew what that meant and what it entailed. He would need something more . . . something more creative.
Until he was able to figure out what he wanted to be called, he found himself lounging outside of his hut with a mountain dew inbetween his paws. The lion cub sipped at it nonchalantly, pondering over different word combinations to pass the time. Hungry Hakuna? Nah, too obvious. Humiliating Hakuna? Very true, but not very courageous. Humorous Hakuna? Also very true, yet not intimidating enough. This cycle of suggesting a name and then disapproving of it went on for a good few hours or so.
Eventually, upon taking a moment to snap back into reality, hakuna discovered that it was actually quite late with the position of the moon telling him that it was approximately twelve in the morning already. Without Medusa's wise words on the conversation of planets and their positions, he would have never been able to do that otherwise. Holding back a sigh of contempt at how fast time went by, the lion cub picked up the empty can of mountain dew and strolled back inside of his hut. He tossed the can into a waste bin nearby, holding back the temptation to shout out that he had just scored to the entire sleeping population of blizzardclan. his citrus orange optics came to rest on his mourning dove nala off in the corner, taking to making sure that she was well-fed and had fresh water for when she woke up in the morning. Touching the tip of his nose to her sleeping form as a type of adorable good night, the lion cub would come to rest in the soft bedding composed of a variety of quilts and blankets.
---
Everything had changed by that morning. Hakuna was no longer a lion cub. He had returned. He was a tabby tom again. The body that he had been born into. The one that probably only Riddler, Matty, Sweet, Chi, and a few others would remember. He had noticed the change right away, rolling over onto his back in the middle of the night to feel the soft electric surge it had created within the blankets. hakuna found himself immediately on his paws, all efforts of sleeping lost with the fact he was now back to who he had originally been. He quickly conjured a full-body mirror to look at himself, jaw dropping in wonder at who he was now looking at before him. Taller, filled-in, a sleek appearance of strength and fortitude with the assistance of his lean muscles, and a more . . . grown-up air to him. It was strange and weird, yet exciting, all at the same time. His citrus orange gaze still held its child-like light to them thankfully, proving that he was still the same hakuna he had been yesterday. The only major difference he saw, other than the fact he was now a cat once again, was the fact that the majority of his scars were hardly visible under the thick fur he had grown. It was a bit singed as well from the transfer, but the "c" around his eye was only able to be seen from close up and the only giveaway that he was injured on his limbs and shoulder were the bandages. It was all so exciting and new. A fresh start for the better of his own self and those around him.

Not only was Hakuna a tabby tom again, but apparently he had received a large amount of powers throughout the night. As soon as he went on his morning run to burn off some steam, the change was visibly noticeable with his great increase in speed. It seemed that he could just keep willing himself to push onward, faster, harder, not stopping for even the slightest of distractions that were thrown his way. The cape he was wearing was tousled and whipped out behind him, giving him the appearance of an actual superhero in flight, just a mere blur shooting across the landscape at up to one hundred miles per hour. The rush of air buffeting his fur and the cool exuberant feel of its chilled atmosphere gave him a renewed sense of vigor. This excitement led him to merely going on a hunting patrol by himself while he was out near Shimmer Lake. He had hopes to catch a few pieces of Freshkill to bring it back and share with his friends in order to tell them about the amazing feats that had happened to him. Not to mention they were all probably going to be a bit shocker by his change in appearance. So far it seemed that no one had taken any notice, which could prove to either be a positive or negative outcome in the near future.

The tabby tom was hardly visible through the low lit underbrush marking the outer edges of blizzardclan's vast territory, cranium even with his belly fur just ever-so-gently brushing along the ground as he made his way closer to his victim to-be. It was one of those antelope that had been all over blizzardclan territory not long ago, and his thirst to at least give them a try while in his lion form apparently transferred over to his current state. hakuna obviously had no idea how he would manage bringing a prey of that size down without getting a serious kick to his noggin or at least mangled with those fierce antlers spiraling from its forehead; however, if he wanted to be a superhero he would have to take a few risks here and there. his paws seemed to go in slow motion with an abnormal patience that was unlike the tom. it was due to the fact he mind seemed to block everything out when he had his focus locked on a single target. his great sense of concentration made hunting an easy task for him, considering he did not really find enjoyment in cheating the system by using his powers to hunt. that just took all the fun and excitement out of something clanners had enjoyed for generations.
after stalking the antelope for a decent thirty minutes or so, the mythical forest seemed to close in on them. it was difficult to find a paw-hold that made the least amount of noise within earshot of the deer. the brush and thickness of the surrounding foliage had thickened considerably, and it was up to hakuna whether that would prove to be useful or not during this hunt in particular. it gave him plenty of cover from the prey that was unaware of his presence and would make it easier to take down the antelope with his not having anywhere to immediately bolt off into. the only downfalls were, of course, the increased sound and the fact even he was having difficulty pushing through the tangle of branches infested with thorns. it was not long after that he finally found the opportunity he had been waiting for however.
He was finally within a few meters of the antelope. It had taken a while and a lot of perseverance, but hakuna expected the outcome to be one worth rejoicing. He paused as the antelope's slender neck cascaded downwards to pull up some strands of precious grass. The last few bits of the season perhaps before the long winter to come. That was when Hakuna struck, bursting forward with ungodly speed to latch himself onto the throat and serrate his jaws in a rapid manner to tear at the flesh. It was too easy it seemed. definitely too easy. something like that should not have been so simple for a regular domestic cat breed slightly larger than most. little did he know that, thanks to his newly acquired super strength, his jaw bite had increased ten fold and the force at which he rammed into the prey had sent it flying into a trio of trees up ahead. hakuna stood still staring at the scene that was now laid out before him, blinking in confusion at the now broken form of the antelope. the impact had probably crushed the backbone of the deer, shattering a few ribs as well, in its wake. Hakuna would slowly make his way forward to examine the carcass, hesitant to approach it in case it had really been the one behind the strange reaction the whole time. the lion cub, however, would come to understand what had taken place at a later time and place, but for now, he only knew that he had to make it back to camp with his catch.
---
It actually did not taking Hakuna that long with the assistance of his newfound powers of super strength and speed, using a combination of both to haul the antelope body onto his back and sprint his way towards the staircase marking the location of the main island. The only thing that slowed him down was that he had not thought of somehow tying up the antelope to his frame, explaining why every mile or so it happened to just slide off with the change in leverage -- yet finally he would appear in the camp entrance dragging the limp form of it behind him. Once it was finally situated near the freshkill pile, hakuna would be sure to straighten himself out and fetch nala from her perch inside of his hut. it was time to spread the good news obviously. he had finally discovered what had made the changes, and now he was one small step closer to becoming an actual superhero.
"Hey everyone! Guess what? Mountain Dew gave me powers!"
The answer seemed a bit far-fetched because it most certainly was. With Hakuna's way of thinking, he considered mountain dew to be the only relevant thing he had yesterday to cause the changes, when in reality it had had nothing to do with him at all. The lion cub was very naive and gullible when it came to believing everything and anything that came to mind, no matter how strange or odd it might have sounded.

Hakuna is no longer a lion, but he is back in his brown tabby form shown in the fancypost, avatar, and signature. When he went on his morning run, he found out he had super speed. Afterwards, to celebrate, he wanted to catch a large piece of pray for all of his friends to share, just so he could give the good news. He catches an antelope and discovers he has super strength as well. Believes that mountain dew was the cause.
