[fancypost borderwidth=0;font-size:8pt; text-align:justify; line-height:95%; width:400px;]Dirk had noticed the way Jake had looked at that plant when they were joining. He had never taken him for much of a plant enthusiast, seeing as he had never shown signs of really caring about them, but he could tell Jake had really wanted that crop. He could mostly tell when he wanted things like that. And who would Dirk be if he wasn't attempting to be a good fiance?

He had almost forgotten he had the power of flower prints, but here he was, sitting just outside their shared den, growing flowers. Emerald-hued roses, orange plumerias, South African star flowers, black pearl calla lilies, bee orchids, and bird of paradises surrounded the den, and Dirk sure did hope that Jake was actually into plants and he hadn't been wrong, or else this would've been a waste.

(and here we learn that i am a nerd for plants)

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px solid white; text-align: justify; width: 350px;] Jake's love for plants was barely obvious in the past, yet now it seemed as if everyone in the entire clan realized it. Jake had never really had time to think about his interest as he had been busy nearly 24/7 back then, and now that he had a little more time, he realized that he did, indeed, enjoy the presence of plants. When the word "enjoy" is used, it's technically referring to the fact that Jake could basically surround himself in them and remain happy for days.

Jake had been coming back into their shared den in order to fetch something until he had managed to stumble upon some sort of mini-garden, which was enough to make him stop in his tracks and take note of it. At first, Jake was rather confused on where they came from, and it wouldn't hit him until later. After all, he didn't really think that anyone would actually realize that he liked plants or that anyone would actually go out of their way to do it. Of course, Dirk might do that, but Jake didn't realize that his fiance had the power of flower prints. Jake seemed to be frozen in place for a couple of seconds before he appeared to forget what he came here for in the first place and began to actually portray signs of excitement. "Oh my God!"

When Jake actually began to notice Dirk's presence, he became even more ecstatic. "Dirk, look! There's so many!" Wow, as if Dirk couldn't see it. Then again, Jake was prone to more slip-ups like that when he was eccentric like this - anyways, it wasn't as if it mattered.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px solid white; text-align: justify; width: 350px;] The corners of Dirk's mouth twitched upwards in a small smile as he watched his enthusiasm, and he nodded in agreement. "Yeah, isn't it pretty?" Dirk sure hoped he did think it was, but judging on Jake's reaction, it didn't really seem like it was a huge thing to be worrying about. He made his way over to his fiance and stood next to him, swishing his tail back and forth and nodding again. He didn't get how he was so excited, but if it made him happy, then so be it.

"I grew them for you, since I noticed you liked that one plant. I can grow some more if you want, once I get a bit of a breather, since growing all this sapped a lot of my energy." Dirk shrugged lightly. It was true, he was feeling a bit tired from the use of it, but oh well. It was worth it. "But say the word and you got more plants."

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px solid white; text-align: justify; width: 350px;] So Dirk grew them himself? That honestly only came as a half-surprise, since Dirk would most likely be the one of the only ones to do that, though Jake hadn't expected Dirk to do so or even notice that fact about Jake. Jake wasn't able to form words for a second, mainly because he was so happy and excited that his mind just went blank whenever he tried to think of something to say. Honestly, Jake looked as if he was going to burst of excitement soon, but luckily that wasn't possible...or was it?

Luckily, he managed to push past his expressiveness and aimed to nearly tackle Dirk in a tight hug, "I love you!" Jake never really said those words often, even though they were engaged and could say them more. Jake had just said it because A) honestly, look what Dirk did, it was amazing. and B) he really meant it.

( my muse is like done for rip )

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px solid white; text-align: justify; width: 350px;] Hugs were a thing that happened surprisingly quite often in their relationship, so Dirk was expecting it when Jake suddenly enguglfed him in a tight hug. He slid his forelegs around him and held him close to his body in response, moving his head and aiming to press a swift peck to his cheek. "I love you, too."

Those words would always be cherished by Dirk when he got to hear them come from Jake's mouth. No matter what, he didn't believe at all that he'd ever get tired of those three words. Funny how just a simple sentence could brighten your day. He aimed to kiss his cheek once again before pulling back, but keeping him close to him. "I'm assuming you like it."

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px solid white; text-align: justify; width: 350px;] Jake resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Dirk's last question and instead allowed a teasing tone of voice to lace his words, "Yes, I love it, you dork." Part of Jake wished that he had the power of flower prints so he would be a walking garden as well - hey, that idea seemed really fucking cool, though he liked this idea way better. Now their entire den could be filled with plants and flowers and they would never run out...except in the winter, where flowers wouldn't be able to stay alive or would struggle in order to. However, Jake had grown up in an area where there were barely any winter seasons or temperature that could be considered cold. He wasn't adjusted to cold weather and had never seen snow before and therefore didn't understand how it worked, so the winter would end up hitting him like a bus.

Anyways, on brighter terms, Jake was actually genuinely happy, and that didn't happen too often unless he was either doing something fun with Dirk or something of the sort. Jake still couldn't really believe that someone would actually do something like this for him, especially when Jake was known to sometimes be oblivious to the feelings of others and therefore didn't really deserve such things. That was the thought that really made him wonder what in the hell he did to deserve something as nice as this. Part of Jake wanted to ask yet he forced the question away, deeming it to be stupid. "Do you have a favorite plant?" Jake asked instead, making it obvious that he was capable of and willing to talk about plants for hours upon end without losing breath.
