  • (O_O @_@ >.<)

The vampire dipped his head slowly in a sort of acknowledgement of the youth's fear. Then his head lifted high and his golden gaze bore down on the new vampire. "Hide your fear, boy," he stated calmly. "Every vampire for a mile around could smell it. But you're not ready to face them. Yet."

  • (LOL xD )

Dexter's eyes widened and for a moment he panicked before he forced himself to take deep breaths and stay calm despite what the vampire had just told him. Ironically it was the fear of other vampires finding him that allowed him to hide his fear and calm down his racing heart. And once he was stable, he lifted his head to the hooded vampire. "...Why am I here?"

  • (nAMES!!)

"To learn," he answered simply with another small dip of his head. "And grow into the power that I have given you." When this vampire said 'power,' he wasn't talking about the power that came naturally to all vampires, but a different sort of power, possibly like Josh's or John's.

  • (Find a really awesome one on the internet! Loll that's what I do sometimes when I'm stuck or have no ideas xDD)

"Power?" Dexter echoed with a confused frown, though he did happen to be interested in what the vampire had to say. Accepting the fact that he was now a vampire himself was difficult to absorb, but now learning that he had some sort of power seemed even more unbelievable. "What kind of power is it?" He asked in a quiet voice, unable to help himself but dare to ask.

  • "It is a power," rumbled the vampire with a slow blink of his eyes. "Like my own that runs deep within the blood. More powerful than all others and more ancient. My kind has long since been wiped out. I am the last. That is why I chose you, young blood. You will continue my kind."

  • Dexter's body tensed once more after forcing himself to calm down and relax. He wasn't as scared any more, but felt rather overwhelmed and in disbelief. "What was it that wiped your kind out, if you are more powerful than the others and more ancient?" It didn't seem to make quite sense if these vampires were that strong.

  • The vampire rumbled and twisted his head around slowly as he searched for those who would eavesdrop and possibly discover what it was that he was. Satisfied that no one was near at the moment, he continued. "Dracula," he breathed. "But not the one you know now. The one I speak of was ancient, almost as ancient as I. He was terrified of us, so he ordered our slaughter. I am all that remains of the Power Keepers."

  • Lord Dracula? Dexter was quite surprised by that. Even the old Vampire Lord feared this kind? "And that is why you needed someone to continue your kind," he whispered quietly, thinking aloud to himself. "But... But how will I learn the powers that you speak of? I'm not even used to being a vampire..."

  • "They will grow as you do," answered the Keeper with a small dip of his head. "Like all young Keepers, powers don't grow the instant you become a vampire. Instead, they develop as you grow and you learn step by step how to control what is given you until you can master the full power that will grow once you're ready." He gave a small chuckle that didn't sound in the air at all.

"Don't fret," he rumbled. "I will teach you. My name is Lucien."

  • (Ohhh and there's the epic name we've all been waiting for xDD)

"Lucien," he echoed under his breath. So this is the vampire from Jonathan's tales. Dexter glanced down at himself, at his hands that were now pale as a vampire's. He suddenly felt determined to learn more about this kind and about this new power that would supposedly grow as he did. Slowly his hands closed into fists and he looked up at the hood vampire. "Please, teach me."

  • (XD and this guy is giving a speech in my game, so I'm replying quickly XD)

"Not here," Lucien said softly, his eyes looking around again. "Come. There's a place that I know of where we will both be safe." The hooded vampire turned away from the Sanctuary and began to head in a direction that was unfamiliar to anyone except for him. He was headed on a hidden path up into the mountains.

    (Poof)

By nightfall, Lucien stood on the steps to a large outpost that resembled a hold or a castle. The walls were covered in moss and crumbling in some places. Twin towers sat on high ledges on either side, both in disrepair and crumbling but otherwise looked intact. Lucien turned to stare at Dexter for a moment before he turned and headed up the stairs and past the archway that led into the keep. It was a wide expanse of ancient architect, as though this place had once stood long ago, several centuries past, at least.

And a castle reared up ahead of the hooded vampire, a castle that still had its glorious white marble touch if a little overgrown with moss and crumbling in places. "Welcome to my home," he said softly, bowing his head toward the castle as though in mourning. "Where my kind were slaughtered."

  • (LOL okayy xD)

Dexter's eyes widened and he slowed down his pace, wary as if he were being cautious of something that would obviously not pop out. He looked around at the castle and old architect, fascinated and awed. "I'm sorry," he whispered as he looked to the hooded vampire, frowning slightly.

  • "It's quite alright," Lucien said, turning his golden gaze upon his student. "I've been asleep since their deaths, safe from the purge. Come. It's time you saw the castle." Lucien continued on to the huge doors that led into the castle, passing a still flowing, if crumbling, fountain in the center of a courtyard of cobblestone walkways and long-dead gardens.

With his strength, Lucien pushed open the doors and stepped inside. The castle was still quite lit through various magic-fire lamps, dim but still casting a light into the halls. It had the feel of Dracula's castle, but much larger. Lucien continued down a hall filled with torn tapestries that held a unique symbol that was long forgotten and no longer recognized.

A large room began to open up before them and soon, Lucien was standing in the center of the large room, six great thrones arranged in a circle around the large room with a unique house-symbol above each. "This was our Council Room," Lucien explained, approaching a throne with a symbol he obviously new well and turned, looking like he was about to sit down. "Our Throne Room. There were Six Houses of Keepers, each leader of each house having a throne and a place on the Council."

  • It was quite the sight and it left Dexter both breathless and speechless. He spun slowly around once, taking in his surroundings of the Throne Room. He then paused and stared at the thrones before he slowly walked over to the random closest one, gently touching the cold hard surface of the arm rest. He could almost imagine six powerful vampires sitting in each one, with all vampires in the room watching them expectantly with utmost respect. "Were you one of the leaders, Lucien?" Dexter asked quietly as he turned his head to the vampire.

  • "I was," Lucien said with a slow nod of his head. "And was the most respected. My skill and my powers were unmatched by any and I won my right to my position."

  • Lucien grinned and looked up at the symbol that represented his house. "House Halfmoon," he said, pointing toward the torn tapestry that held the symbol of a half-moon with two crossed swords directly behind it. "One of the most feared Houses in the Keep."

  • Dexter didn't doubt it for a second. With the vampire's silent movements and hard gaze, he would have also feared the House Lucien belonged to if he were alive that long ago. He couldn't even imagine how strong his powers would be too. "Was there a House that came second after House Half-moon?"

  • "House Shadowblood was second," Lucien said, pointing to a throne with the torn tapestry that held an emblem of a demonic black wolf with something that looked like blood dripping from its muzzle. "They were well respected and their leader was like a brother to me."

  • Dexter raised his head and his eyes trailed off to where Lucien was pointing at the tapestry above one of the six thrones. He stared at the old emblem. "I'm sorry that they all died..." He whispered quietly.
