  • Couragekit lay in the camp, his head rested on his paws. He hoped that Sweetpaw and Phoenixpaw came back to camp soon, because he was completely and utterly bored.

He didn't really know any of the other kits that well, and now that he thought about it, those two really were his only friends. He wanted to be an apprentice now.

  • "Hey Couragekit!"came a young female voice. Before long a pretty snowshoe she-cat came into view with a plump rabbit in her grasp. Her fur was ruffled up and was a bit bruised here and there from crash landing. She placed her catch down into the pile and grabbed a mouse, then quickly made her way over to Couragekit. With a groan she laid herself down beside him and started grooming her leg."Ow, I seem to keep running into bushes and trees lately more then normal."she mewed in mild laughter.

  • It was some time later on when Phoenixpaw trudged back into camp, looking worn out and a little grave. The lilac tom padded over to the freshkill, selected a chipmunk and stepped over near the nursery, and plopped down on his stomach to drown his sorrows in eating.

He did see Couragekit there, but the young tom seemed engaged in talk with another cat, and Phoenixpaw still didn't know how to let him know how badly his first day of training had gone. When he'd learned he was even more of a pansy than he'd originally though.

  • "How'd it go with your mentor Pheonixpaw?"asked Sweetpaw at seeing her friend. She then went back to grooming her ruffled fur, groaning from any sudden movement."Darn bruises!"she growled.

  • "Hi Sweetpaw," Couragekit mewed, a grin appearing on his face. His ears perked up and he lifted his head from his paws, glad that he finally had somebody else to talk to. He was even more thrilled when he spotted Phoenixpaw coming back to camp, and he almost jumped to his paws. He looked over to his friend and lifted his head up even higher to try to get his attention. "Hey Phoenixpaw!" he called.

  • Phoenixpaw looked up, hearing his friend's voice made him soar inside, especially after a day as bad as this. The young tom bounded over to greet him, nuzzling him in a rather babyish way, but that was perhaps just him. "Hi Couragekit...hi Sweetkit...how are you guys? You have a good day? I hope it was better than mine." He looked at his feet.

  • "It was okay, just really boring without you guys here," Couragekit replied. "How did your training go, both of you? You look pretty banged up, Sweetpaw." He took note of her fur, which was unkempt and had bits of bark in it. Turning back to Phoenixpaw, he just looked plain unhappy.

  • "Mine...went terrible." Phoenixpaw noticed now how roughed up Sweetpaw looked. Maybe she'd had a worse time than he had. In that case he truly felt sorry for her. "Are you okay?"

  • "Oh, kept crashing into things while chasing that stupid rabbit I caught.I finally caught it but crashed into a thorn bu----OW!---bush due to all that mud."she mewed as she pulled a thorn out of her fur."Other then that I'm fine, just feeling very silly.I seem to be doing a lot of crashing. My mother might as well have called me Crashkit."she mewed in mild amusement.

  • "You caught a rabbit on your first time out?" Phoenixpaw thought that was unreal. Rabbits were BIG, and difficult prey to tackle. Sometimes they could put up a fight. "All I did was get stuck up a tree."

  • "No, my first catch was a mouse.Nightclaw let me eat it.But I choose to try my luck at something else on the way back and that rabbit was it."mewed Sweetpaw."You? stuck up a tree?!"she chirped with mild amusement."Well, could have been worse. It could have been one with an owl or hawks."

  • "...You caught TWO kills on your first day of training?" And she acted like it was no big deal! Phoenixpaw sighed. Sweetpaw was clearly very talented...and he was ordinary, or rather, most likely below average. "Yes...I guess it could've been worse but actually if a hawk had come along I'd have rather fought it than had to deal with getting back down that tree." He shuddered involuntarily.

  • "Oh, take it easy. You'll find a talent of your own.If it makes you feel bet I am yet to be able to catch birds. Those stupid critters always escape me!"mewed Sweetpaw as she started grooming her face.

  • Couragekit stared at both of them with wide eyes. Sweetpaw had already caught prey, and Phoenixpaw had gotten to climb a tree! He wished that he could say that he'd accomplished something today, but the most he had done was eat two voles in the time it took one of the other kits to eat one, and that wasn't exactly something he wanted to brag about.

"Wow, that sounds so cool. Even if you got stuck," he murmured, glancing over at Phoenixpaw with a frown. "Or crashed into things..." His gaze returned to Sweetpaw. "At least you both did something today. I can't wait to be an apprentice so I can train with you guys. I hope I get my ceremony soon...."

  • < oh sorry, I wasn't suppose to post here. Didn't see that >.< I'll talk to Rainy. >
Blossom fang skirted the outside of camp as she blinked dust out of her amber eyes, and waded through the long grass filled with prickles. Just before entering the camp she sat down in the hollow and began to cleanse her creamy fur of the prickles. She licked her paws before remembering her fresh kill she had burried outside of camp in the early morning; hoping none of her clanmates had taken them, she rushed to fetch them.
Blossomfang again skirted around the camp, this time breathing through her nose for her mouth was fill with a couple mice, and a few voles. Tough to hold, but good for the clan. She trudged along into the camp, and nestled the kill around the others. Smiling for her clan would be fed rather then smiling because she was proud, she sat down again, and noticed Couragkit rambling on about how he wished he could be out.
"You know Couragekit, you were named courage for a reason; I hope you will have some decency to be filled with courage AND a mind. Don't go wandering off. You're smart, and the more you show it the sooner you will become an apprentice." As she finished, she was close enough to Couragekit, and gave him a slight nudge. "You just wait."

  • "Hey, it won't be long now for you. This moon is almost over if I'm right."chirped Sweetpaw, tail waving.

  • Couragekit gave Blossomfang a short nod. "Thanks," he mewed, brushing his tail-tip against Phoenixpaw's shoulder. "I'll keep that in mind." He gave her a respectful bow of his head before returning his attention to his friends. "Yeah, it shouldn't be long now, I hope." He smiled half-heartedly. "I hope I get a good mentor. Speaking of... how are your mentors? Wrathbane isn't mean to you is he?"

  • "But--did you hear what she said?" Phoenixpaw looked at Sweetpaw. "What she said about warning him to be a decent cat. He's a very decent cat." He looked back at couragepaw and calmed down, if Couragepaw was taking the remarks well then he should too. "He's nice--Wrathbane. I just can't help but feel I'm letting him down."

  • Blossomfang smiled, and took a curt not before returning her attention to phoenexpaw.
"I never said he wasn't, I said he should be." She smiled, and gave a comforting lick to the kit's ear.
"You will be a great warrior Couragepaw." She looked to them all, glancing at each of their features...The very ones that she used to understand more of their personalities.
"I sure hope your mentor is good to you, or you come straight to me, and you tell me if it didn't help and I will be sure to have the leader to look it over for you."
