• It had been a normal day, wake up, eat, say goodbye and wait for Michael to come home, take a nap, play in front of the home, greet him when he returned, talk about the day, have supper, read a child's book, and then off to bed. Nothing real different to cause her to have night mares, or any event to make her frightened.
Although that night she was tossing and turning, muttering in her sleep and such while dark faces and figured plagued her dreams. There was just so many of them that it was horrifying to the easily scared tiger cub. Eventually she started screaming, both inside the dream and out, as they tried dragging her away from home and into the ground. Temperance imagined they were trying to drown her in the once solid ground that had seemingly turned liquid once they began to drag her. It was something out of a horror movie to her.
Kicking and screaming outside of the dream, Tempy had kicked off the blanket she had and anything near her as a self defense. Although, the two month olds nubby legs never had much strength, so nothing could really be harmed by her kicking around.

Coloredpencil wasn't bothered by the screaming, hence she was deaf, but something had told the tabby to wake up. That was exactly what she did. She had been awake in her nest for a few moments, when she got up to stretch her legs. Usually when she woke up in the night, there was a low chance she'd go back to sleep unless she really wanted to. So she had been walking around camp slowly, when her whiskers twitched, and she sensed frantic movement. Coloredpencil stopped and inhaled, but she scented no danger. So she followed the source of movement, and it lead her to the nursery. She had bumped into the outer wall, but she didn't mind. She felt around, and felt a soft blanket, and soon she felt one of Temperance's legs that was lashing out.

"Oh!" Coloredpencil blinked her pupilless green eyes, and she attempted to lay down next to Temperance and aimed to continuously lick her forehead.[/fancypost][/fancypost]

  • Jerking awake, the child began to whimper and cry as Colouredpencil ran her tongue over Temperance's forehead. "D-Don't let them-them take m-me away." She wailed, trembling in fear as she hugged her teddy bear. "Don't let the-the mean man ta-take me a-away."

  • "No one is going to take you away, Temperance," the shaman trainee said softly as she approached. "We'll protect you and keep you safe." Mousepaw, like Coloredpencil, then attempted to lick her fur.

  • Sniffling, Temperance slowly began to calm down while her eyes were still glued to the ceiling. The two month old drew her blanket back up to cover her frail body. "N-no mean ma-man?"

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; text-align: justify; width: 400px; font-family: andale mono; color: paleblue; font-size: 14pt;]

Michael didn't like it when others were in distress and hated it more when it was a loved one. The bobcat had entered, seeing both females comforting the cub. [b]"I won't let any mean man get you. He'll be dead before he even harms a hair on you," he hummed quietly. The feline nuzzled the top of her head.

  • "B-But he was al-already dead..." How could he kill someone that was already dead? Closing her eyes as Michael nuzzled her head, Temperance coiled up into a tight ball as she erased her tears into her teddy bear's fake fur. Flattening her ears, the cub released a shaky sigh and stared outside in the distance, No more mean man.

Was something the matter? Only one way to find out. Valerie made her way into the den and gazed around. Nothing. [b]"Tempy, what's the matter? Is she alright, father?"
the king cheetah asked, walking over to the three.

The tabby assumed that maybe Michael and a few others would be around by now, though. She allowed herself to continue purring softly, hoping it would soothe Temperance. She curled her tail around the kid, and attempted to also brush her nose against her cheek. "Its okay." She meowed softly. It had been a while since she was able to do this. All of her children had either been independent, had friends or a crush or something, or they were too embarrassed. It felt good for her.

  • As Colouredpencil curled her tail around Temperance, the tiny cub coiled up into the tightest ball she possibly could against her. Watching Valerie, the child squeezed her teddy bear to her chest and flattened her ears as if just saying the nightmare would make it come true, "A-A bad ma-man was try-try-trying to take me-me away." She stuttered.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; text-align: justify; width: 400px; font-family: andale mono; color: paleblue; font-size: 14pt;]

Oh no, he'll be dead. Just because someone dies doesn't mean that they're fully dead. He was sure Temp didn't know much about the afterlife and how many, many souls still lingered around and tormented others. Michael would make sure that they were actually gone, wiped from existence. [b]"Shh now. I'm here. I'll always be here, no matter what." Those were some famous last words a lot of Denouement's characters said before dying a little later.

  • "Promise?" Temperance questioned, staring up at him with glassy eyes from crying. She believed them without the promise, but she knew he'd never break promise.
