OOC: Going to start the roleplay! :)

IC: Silver's eyes opened to a dull, murky red light. He blinked, turning his head to look at the cave entrance. The red sun was weakly pushing through the black clouds overhead. He stretched and pulled himself to his feet. The gray fox shook his pelt, trying to rid it of the thin layer of ash that had collected overnight. He eyed the other sleeping foxes, and decided to let them wake on their own this morning.

Alice was dreaming.
Not a peaceful dream, nor a murky one, but a bright, flashing nightmare that shook her to the core. Dogs. She could see them, every one, in vivid color, though if you asked her after she awoke she wouldn't be able to recall their hues. They were eating. Devouring a carcass- she struggled to look away, but she knew who it was. Horror clenched at the vixen's throat, tighter and tighter, until her eyes snapped open. She pushed herself up, cold sweat chilling her bones. She sighed, then dropped her head.

• Rust blinked hard in the chilly morning sunlight, letting out a sneeze that sent soot flying back into the air. For a few minutes after waking he stayed down, not quite ready to meet the day. After a bit of persuading from his growling stomach the large red male stood up and yawned. He decided to go check on Alice, knowing she had been having a hard time since losing her mate. Gracefully he lept down the rocks to the nursery. "Alice...you awake?" Rust called to her softly as not to wake her if she was still asleep.

IN: Machina was already awake, bounding back from the forest as her hazelnut orbs were wide in excitement and amusement.
"Guys! I found a brilliant new hunting ground! There is plenty prey for all of us to store this winter!" She yipped in exhilaration and was dragging over a few voles in her jaws and a raccoon. It was quite unfamiliar and yet weird for a fennec to hunt something bigger than her size. But before she made her way to the cave where everyone is waking, she dropped the corpses into the pile and lingered to the entrance and sat near it. She never admired resting because something always spooks her. She is afraid of the dark anyways and is the size of a fox kit so what more could go wrong.
A deep sigh escaped her as she noticed Alice wake up from another taunting nightmare. Machina opened her maw wanting to help but flicked her lobes back to notice a reynold has took over to calm her down. Instead, the fennec returned to lick her chest and lift up a tiny white paw and scratch around the back of her left ear having the unbearable itch always. No it's not fleas it's just a nervous and timid reaction she has. [/fancypost]

Tempo
Tempo lied stretched out along some softer moss she had found the night before. She shifted around in her sleep, murmuring every so once in a while. Her tail twitched back and forth as she slept, not really showing any signs of dreaming. Her ears twitched as she heard the yipping of one of their smallest members. Growling lowly, she turned onto her stomach and covered her eyes with her paws.

Magi
Magi stretched, moving from the corner she had been watching over the camp from. She shook out her red pelt, looking over curiously to the seemingly excited Fennec. She then shook her head lightly and began to walk around, making sure everyone was alright. The Beta would do this, and allow the others to stop her if they needed her help.

• Alice didn't notice Rust approaching for a few moments, until he addressed her. She jumped as he spoke. "Oh! Sorry, I- I didn't see you." She hesitated. "Yeah, I'm awake." The fox shook her fur out nervously.

Silver leapt down from the rock he had been sleeping on, glancing back at the outline his body had left in the ash. It was unsettling, really, the amount of black soot the sky could hold, before it dumped it all in a heavy rain down on them. Already, he knew that memories of life before the change were beginning to fade. He sighed. They had to keep trying in this strange world. Silver suddenly remembered why he had stood, and trotted over to where Machina was sitting. "Hunting grounds, you say?" He called out as he drew closer.

A fox moved almost silently across the surface of the ruined land, the only sound being the soft jingle from the bell that dangled from the blue collar around his neck. Next to the bell, was a round, silver tag, that read: Sugarfoot. The vulpine's unusual pinkish champagne pelt was coated in a layer of dust and dirt, but he didn't seem to notice. He was more focused on the rumbling of his belly, which ached with hunger. It had been at least a day or so, perhaps more, since he had last had a decent meal. Digging around in garbage and hunting for scraps had become a habit, one which Sugar had grown to loathe. His ribs showed through his fur, and the pads of his paws stung from the heated earth beneath them. After walking a bit longer, he managed to find a small patch of shriveled grass to lay in.

Sugarfoot let his one good eye examine his surroundings, the other glazed over and flicking around sightlessly. Perhaps if he were lucky, he might catch sight of some kind of prey, even if such a thing was rare.

IN: "Oh...." Machina flicked her large lobes back against her cranium when nobody seemed surprised or joyful as herself. She disliked the fact of rummaging around leftovers but now once she found this destination it changed. Just hopefully no other predators from an unknown clan come and snatch all the prey up before it's gone. Though her spark of curiosity came back to increasing once she noticed Silver suspiciously make his way over to her. He was much taller than her as she now felt so small like a rodent. Well she was quite tiny.
"Uh.. Yes hunting grounds! But the only bad thing is that their deep in the city. But trust me it's worth it! I caught two voles and a plump raccoon back there!" She squeaked with a large toothy grin written in her emotions. No longer caring about the others growling and mumbling in annoyance but letting her voice echo and bounce off the cave walls. Though it was so high pitched and silent it couldn't disturb anyone that much.[/fancypost]

• Lavander sat in her den pulling herbs out of her crack on the wall. The crack was slender and small yet large enough for her small paw to slip in and grab what she needed. She counted what she had to see if she needed to get anymore. "Hmm, running low on cobweb and poppy seeds..." She was yipping quietly to herself. She noticed a few more that she was running low on and started to make sure everything she had was usable. Her eyes were fixed on tje small task at hand and not paying much attention to much else. She was soon done with sorting and started to put the herbs back. She got up and went to poke her eead oit of the den. She nowbhad a short list of waat she needed.

Nothing stirred. The wasteland was silent, crushing any hope of spotting an easy meal. Huffing, Sugarfoot heaved himself onto his burning paws, and headed South. Hunting was the only option, as he wasn't in the mood to rummage through piles of trash. His legs, long and slender, carried him into a trotting jog, the bell on his collar jingling with each step. Although the noise might've bothered some, the reynard had grown fond of it. It filled his head with memory of an easier time, when he had been rescued and domesticated by his human; the feeling of the collar around his neck, the gentle noise of the bell... they were warm comforts, despite how much had changed.
A soft breath of gale picked up, lightly disturbing the ravaged soil and rustling Sugarfoot's fur. But as suddenly as the wind had come, it was gone again, and the dry, stench-filled air returned to take its place. Sugar expelled a sigh and shook out his dirt-coated champagne pink fur, scattering dust and grime. As he neared his destination, brown undergrowth and shriveled grass popping up around him, he parted his jaws and let his ears prick forward to catch sound of a meal or a possible prey scent, one blue eye flashing with hunger.

• Silver's eyes flashed as Machina mentioned the location. "The city? I mean..." He hesitated. "OK, we'll scout it out later today. But let's be careful, alright? If there's a lot of food on one area..." Silver gulped. His black ears flicked back. "Well, the more prey, the more predators. And we're hardly what you'd call 'top of the food chain'." He finished. Trying to lighten the mood, he added, "But good catches!"

IN: In slight confusion, he did have a point since it could be dangerous after a while since there will be more predators once they keep visiting the area. Her toothy grin pierced immediately into a subtle frown as her large lobes pin back a little but settle back forward to not over show her own emotions.
"Got it. We can always try later I guess.. And thank you! I never knew I could catch something my size...." Machina trailed off but did a uneasy chuckle as her fur puffed up like a porcupine in embarrassment but she managed to settle it. Though it was hard to be sprinting off by now since she gets timid and silent in these type of conversations. Though she returned his glance and nodded her cranium once, managing to force a weak smile on her maw.
"Well I might as well try to wake the others. Nice talking to you, Silver." She added and flicked her fluffy tail around as she padded into the cave. She fully did regret what she just spoken once the abyss welcomed her. The Fennec's fur puffed up again and her pupils dilated, frightened by the dark as she squeaked and bolted outside of the cave and curl up in a tight ball. Her tall wrapping around her whole body as she shivered and shook in place.
"I change my mind." She whispered in a frightened rasp as she didn't look up since she probably caught others attention from the incident. How embarrassing![/fancypost]

• Silver smiled at the small fox as she darted back out of the cave. "It's fine, Machina." He tried not to laugh for her sake, though it was rather hard. The alpha took a step towards the cave. "I'll walk with you, if you'd like." He offered a grin.

IN: The shaking in the two year old stopped at what the reynold spoken as Machina slowly rose her cranium from the little mess of fur as her hazelnut pupils extract in curiosity.
"Really?" She questioned quite astounded and dumbfounded as the fennec managed to stand up on all fours and shake her creme pelt once more before hobbling like a kit after the Alpha. She might as well have to challenge the dark abyss sooner or later but she felt much safer when she was with someone else. Especially someone much larger than her and could be a protective shield in case any predator or other organism may come at them. Like that will even happen... • Lavender watched the smaller Fox and the Alpha. She trotted over. "Silver, do you kind if I head out to gather some herbs? I am running low and a few basic yet essential herbs." She nodded towards the smaller Fox before returning her gaze to the Alpha. She had her usual strong lavender scent drifting off her cream colored pelt.

Moments passed with no sign of any prey. Sugarfoot ventured further, then stopped once more, let his jaws part and ears perk; he did this several times. Then, the taste of something somewhat surprising filled his maw, sending the scent glands on the top of his mouth into a fit that he instinctively recognized as prey, although had been hoping for something more... alive. Up ahead, there was movement, a flash of dark feathers. The reynard knew all too well what it was, but the aching of his belly reminded him that he had to eat, despite what might happen. Sugar pinned his ears, and launched himself forward into a sprint. Growling, he sent the vulture flapping into the air, and had the satisfaction of spotting a fairly decent meal. A groundhog, although so skinny that it probably starved to death, and a crow, which had most likely been trying to snag a bite, but was cut short by the vulture. Mouth watering, Sugar leaned down as quick as he could, snatched up the crow and groundhog, and bolted from the scene. After all, if he tried to fight, he knew all too well he could get injured, and doing so might cost him his life. The vulture's angry screeching kept the champagne pink fox running as fast as he could, and he forced himself to ignore the pain in his paws. When the screeches had ceased and he was sure he was safe, Sugarfoot set his stolen catch down, and tore into the groundhog. It was almost tasteless, and bearing almost no meat. But the taste was good, nevertheless, especially after not eating for so long.

• Silver nodded to Machina. He felt his mind flash back to when he was a pup, and couldn't sleep at night. His mother would come and sit with him until he managed to get to sleep. Silver knew how the fear of darkness shrank when another was by your side.
He turned as Lavender addressed him, snapping out of the memory. "Ah, yes. Of course. But- uh, would you take someone with you? A few days ago we spotted a fresh skeleton and I'm a little concerned that the creature who killed it might still be around." He swished his tail nervously. "Better safe than sorry out here."

IN: As the familiar vulnerable feeling started to set in to make her relax a little. It went all the way back up, increasing rapidly like a hurricane when she heard a light and mellow voice nearby and a black silhouette with glowing eyes. Machina jumped two feet in the air screeching and skidding to the right away from what or whoever that was.
"Predator!" She squeaked and fluffed up her creme pelt again and curled up, shaking rapidly as she had no chance of turning back now since she could barely see a thing and nearly remember which way they came from since it was so hard to see. But after a while the fennec once found out it was the Shaman as she did a deep sigh of relief and slowly came out from her hiding spot.

• "Oh, it's ok. I don't think I eat foxes two you are safe." Lavender chuckled. She gave the smaller Fox a smile in retired before looking back to the Alpha. "Of course." Lavender dipped her head before trotting to find. Scavenger to help. Machines was talking with Slver so she wouldn't take her. Hmm. Who else.
