OOC- sorry, MO? I'm Canadian, so I don't know where each state is. But it sounds like your family is all spread out.

They should all be labeled :3 We're called the 'Show Me' state. If you ask me, there's not much to see here in Missouri unless you go to St. Louis, Springfield or the Lake of the Ozarks. Other than those, I haven't actually seen much of Missouri. I live near the bottom right of Missouri. Did yo know that Missouri is over a gigantic crater formed by an earthquake thousands of years ago?
-
Okay, I see... I didn't know Missouri had a crater, that's interesting. Doesn't the US have a crater from the meteor that supposedly wiped out the dinosaurs too?
I live in Ontario, so the biggest thing we have here is Niagara Falls. -
Not that I know of. Though that's really cool :3 I actually went to Colorado a few months ago and stood next to the Continental divide. It was pretty cool.
-
Ah, never mind, that crater is in Mexico apparently.
Oh! We call them the Canadian Rockies once you cross the border and they divide two of our provinces (Alberta and British-Columbia). I've been to them on the Albertan side for the hot springs in Banff when I was younger -
Cool :3 for us they divide the US into the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans. The river splits in the mountains and flows either to the Pacific or the Atlantic. Though, all I saw was snow and a road sigh. It was still pretty cool though.
-
We have a number of Canadian parks along it:

Just realizing my family and I went to each place here. You can drive up and over, or through the mountains. There's a glacier there and when I last saw it, it was HUGE! Now it doesn't even get to that size any more from the pictures I've seen.
But Canada is pretty large. I don't think I'll see even a quarter of it.
-
Wow. Same with me and the US. I doubt I'll ever get out of Missouri though. Do yourself a favor and stay out of the US until the presidential run is over. It's like a Political war over here. I don't even like Politics and I know about them... Curse you Donald Trump!!!
-
I've been into New York for a day trip once. Wow... you cross the border and it's like you've taken a plane ride. Life is so different here than there.
I'm just happy we don't have such long campaigns. But I did watch the election broadcast and it was funny. We have about a hundred different little parties, but only the big 5 get enough seats (I think there is one that only got 1 seat this time, and another got 4) to sit in the parliament. -
Yeah, Politics just aren't my thing. The sad thing is, is that none of the people running for president are really good people to begin with! To me, it's an exercise in futility.
-
Ya, a lot of times it is just vote for the person who you can hate the least.
Just for fun, on the topic of how different life is in Canada vs US, tell me the top 5 things you think of when you think Canada. I'm curious. -
I don't know very much about Canada, so don't be offended if this is offensive.
Bacon
Large Forests
Cold[I like the cold
Should have Alaska but for some reason doesn't
Family Guy makes fun of it way too much. -
Don't worry. I don't get offended easily. (Canadian stereotype that seems to only apply to me for some strange reason. People here are just as rude as anyone).
1. We do love our bacon. But it's strips of bacon, not like ham slices. I don't know what they have in the US, but we don't like 'back bacon' (I think that's what its called when it's ham slices).
2. You can probably go out for a drive for forests, but you don't see them on a regular basis.
3. It's not as cold as it use to be in most places (Ontario at least, but I've heard other places are frozen right now). I recently moved into the 'snow belt' of Ontario, and it is cold. But we had snow for two days where it was freezing and now it's like 15 degrees Celsius outside (I think that's 59 Fahrenheit?)
4. The Alaska situation is weird. They have a long strip of coast line between BC and the ocean for some reason too.
5. Personally don't watch Family Guy. We have a bunch of US based shows and only a few Canadian ones. Personally enjoy the few Canadian ones a lot. -
Some people like the thick ham slices, but I'm a bacon strip person. To be honest, if I did get out of Missouri I had planned on coming to Canada. It would be a nice place to live since I like the cold and it just seems like a fun place to visit. So, not that I'm curious, what are five things that you think when you think about the US?
-
Honestly;
1. People are overweight or underweight
2. Everyone who is religious is extremely so, especially in 'the south' ?
3. Racism is still a big problem
4. If you live on the coast, you don't own a long sleeve shirt or coat
5. How is Washington DC. not in Washington state -
Sorry, I know some of that stuff is probably really tough topics. It's just I do live somewhere where we get american TV stations, and they always seem to be talking about that sort of stuff.
-
1. Yes, there are very few people who are just healthy. If you are Healthy though, you have some form of muscle. It's weird.
2. Yes, the KKK, the South, the Atheists, the Satanic Atheists[which is odd since they don't have a religion but worship Satan. Maybe I don't understand it] but yes. We all can be pretty religious.
3. YES! YES IT IS! Just google MO Ferguson! The whole issue with that is still going on if I remember correctly. I even know and African American who is racist against himself...
4. That's partially true. The West Coast are the no-sleevers. The East Coast gets more snow so they own jackets.[now if you include Florida in the East Coast, then yes. They own no jackets or sleeves.]
5. Okay, I actually didn't know that. I had always assumed it was in Washington state. -
3. That's weird!
5. Okay, so I'm not the only one thankfully. I saw your map and got very confused so I included it.
Okay. As you were typing a response, I was talking with some friends about the same thing. One of them just showed me a link to a Canadian comedian on Youtube about 10 things Canadians don't know about americans. Don't know if you'd like to take a look and comment about it.
Just want to reiterate, he is a comedian.
-
Okay. About the Whitehouse being run by Angelic nuts. That is sort of true! I have no idea what Obama believes in but as far as I know only some of the presidents were Christan. The Soaker thing is only half correct. We don't like to step in puddles, but it's mostly men with big boots or women with big boots, or children who don't care. Yes, I am terrible with marshmallows. I usually just eat the chocolate. The Portions thing are only with certain restaurants. Like Mexican restaurants or bars and grills. I do not have a passport. I know very few people who have actually left the country. I don't hate the french, but yes. If you watch Family Guy or American Dad[which I do not recommend because their just awful] they do bash the French a lot. Yeah, we do think the British are smart. Uhh, never seen it. I've seen Fight Club though :3. We do NOT know every actor's name. Or at least I don't. Only when I'm angry to I do the 'Uh-huh' thing. Most people say your welcome[the people that I know of anyway]. We are... Dear god we are. It's not a bad thing, but we're not as bad as some countries.
It'd be a good idea to get other American's opinions on the subject
-
Oh good, I saw the big paragraph and thought I was going to be in trouble. I know some of the things he said were probably just for comedic effect and that it doesn't represent everyone.
I actually had no idea what a soaker was because we DON'T call them that at all. We just say we got a wet foot.
Most times when Canadians burn their marshmallows, it isn't too bad so we just eat it.
I'm happy to hear portions aren't big everywhere.
Most people don't hate the french here either. Those who do just don't go to Québec.
British accents are hilarious to me.
Never seen either Fight Club or the Godfather.
Canadians are also patriotic, but we have very few people who actually fly the flag because there are so many immigrants and first-generation Canadians.
