Alright, Ryan was officially a little spooked now: he had recently been contacted by a ghost of some ancient civilization that once lived here. The Eagles or Vultures or something like that... the ghost had told him of certain totems that Ryan felt his Clan needed to be aware of. They had the right to know, after all. "EclipseClan, gather to learn about the totems!" The fox barked out loudly from his perch within the main cabin. He wasn't sure how interested they all were in the aspect of having an animal guardian, but Ryan really didn't care about that: he was more stubborn about them listening in on the bit about the vision totems. Once a decent group had gathered, the fox inhaled a shaky breath before speaking in the most unwavering voice he could manage.
"First off, there are going to be three divisions of totems: Animal Guardian Totems, Validation Totems, and Vision Totems. Animal Guardian totems are a right for anyone to have, Validation totems are awarded by the Chief, and Vision totems... let's make it simple and say that you have to find them." Ryan paused, running his salmon tongue over his maw before speaking once more. "Animal Guardian totems will have a ceremony involved with them, and the spirit guardian you receive will be hugely based off of your personality. You will receive a small, wooden version of your spirit guardian when assigned one at the totem ceremony. Spirit guardians are from that point on your bud for life: they aren't going anywhere. Unless your temperament drastically changes, your guardian will adapt as you do." Hopefully he had explained that clearly enough.
"Validation totems are awarded by the Chief, and each Validation totem is given for separate reasons. They do not replace your Animal Guardian totem, but instead they work together- even if you will not be able to communicate to your Validation totem as you would your Animal Guardian totem. The Validation totem feeds the Animal Guardian totem, it's more like an... essence then a guiding spirit. Each of the various Validation totems will be included on the guide I've been working on." Ryan paused to tap his paw against the long piece of paper that draped off of his chair, the dark imprint of ink detectable on the side. "I'm unsure of where to put this, though: inside the cabin, or outside? Iunno, gimme your thoughts on that." (In other words, should the totem guide be put in the main board in the OOC board?)
"Vision totems are... new, to say the least. A, uh, spirit communicated to me about them. A spirit from a group that dwelled here a very long time ago. They also had a totem system, but their totem system was different. With their totems, they could see into the future- about their own deaths, the deaths of a friend, or even some lucky event in your future. They didn't always come true, however, if they took the right steps to avoid the less fortunate totem predictions. The spirit agreed that he would be willing to assist in bringing back these totems- the only catch is that there is only a set number of them, all of them scattered throughout the territory. Looking at one will give you sights of the future depending on what the totem was crafted for- Death, Danger, Loss, Guidance, or Fortune. Each is color coded, I've been told, so that'll be included on this handy-dandy scroll. They will only work on EclipseClan land- attempting to take the totem to another group for whatever reason will render it a useless chunk of carved wood." Ryan swallowed heavily, hoping he wouldn't be labeled insane for what he had just said. "Any, uh, any questions?"
totems are being brought back! there are three categories of totems: Spirit Guardian Totems, Validation Totems, and Vision Totems.
Spirit Guardian Totems are available to anyone and are based off of the character's personality traits more than physical body. the totem is a mere carving of the spirit guardian that then watches over the character.
Validation Totems are awarded by the Chief for accomplishments such as activity or constantly defending the Clan. they do not have a soul attached to them and instead act as an essence for one's Spirit Guardian.
Vision Totems must be found in the territory, although they can be found by anyone. they will predict one of five events: your character's death "Death", a possible dangerous situation your character might be in in the future "Danger", the death of a friend "Loss", what your character should do in a certain situation "Guidance", or a good event that might happen to your character "Fortune".
(oocly speaking, this happens because a spirit jumps from totem to totem. they have the sight- thus the clairvoyance- & memory manipulation, so your character using the vision totem consents to the spirit powerplaying memory manipulation on them. the spirit mostly acts as an npc, but for technical reasons, will be passed down from chief to chief & cannot be communicated with.)
the questions asked rather awkwardly icly are should the totem guide be posted in the ooc board, "inside the cabin", or on eclipseclan's main board, "outside the cabin" where the general guide is?
