After falling through a dark void, Mario landss with a thud on the ground. Standing up, he looks at hi surroundings. He was still in the Mushroom Kingdom, but it didn't look right. Everything seemed to be more blocky-looking and cluny. He looks at himself, and realized he perfectly represented his 8-bit self. "What on earth happened, and how can I get back to normal...?" he muttered to himself "This is a little game, we are playing Mario." a voice said "Who said that?!" Mario demanded, but the voice didn't answer, instead just contiuing on with its explanation "As you can see, you've landed in the world of your 8-bit classic self, and the only way to get back home is to beat the game. You have three lives." Mario looked above his head to notice it said Mario x3, signifying he has three lives, and then the voice continued "You must use those lives to defeat Bowser, who has eight lives "Wait, why does Bowser have eight??" Mario cut off "To represent the eight worlds, dummy." "Are you telliing em I have three lives to go through 32 consecutive levels???" "Don't worry, there will be some 1-Ups, but not many. And remember, if that counter of your lives hits 0, you lose, game over, your finished. Oh and one more thing, if you try to use any warp pipes I will instantly drop your life counter to 0, so don't try. Good luck' the voice left, leaving Mario to look at the level in front of him "let's-a-go..." he muttered, as he started heading out
OOC: so in this RP Mario and Sonic find themselves in their first platformer games from way back, and in order to get home, they basically have to beat their game. the voice talking to Mario mentioned some rules, which can be explained to sonc by a voice when you enter) buut there's one catch, at any time, eggman and bowser, if they choose, can switch games, so bowser goes to sonic, and eggman goes to Mario, making it harder for the two to beat the game, since the two villains play differently than what they're used to. Also, once, or twice, in the entire adventure, Mario or Sonic could call one Pokemon partner to help them, but that pokemon only stays for that one level/act, meaning it must be used wisely. Mario and Sonic themselves, if they choose, can help each other out in a level/act if they know a special code, which will be revealed later, as it probably wouldn't be needed for the first few levels/acts
Wow that was a lot of explanation and I got this idea from two things
1. Super Mario maker, which allows you to tap a Sonic amiibo into the game, so you can use Sonic in a mario game, an 8-bit mario game no less.
2. Pixels (btw if you haven't seen that movie I recommend it i loved it), which is where i got the title from. and ever since i saw that movie today, this idea has been bursting in my mind, I had to do it
