work in progress. raised by a devout mother and father whose religion pulled inspiration from many aspects of christianity. his father disappeared in marnix's later youth, and the boy went off in search of him, leaving a devastated mother behind. he followed the man's trail to sunclan, which he joined, only to find shortly after that darius had possessed his father's body and was unaware that the body had a child.
powers:
emotion projection & manipulation: when especially overwhelmed or desperate to get his emotions across, marnix's emotional projection abilities are triggered. he is able to project what he is feeling to another, but has not yet figured out how to fully control this, nor has he learned out to manipulate the emotions of others.[/justify] -

work in progress. raised in a small settlement by a single mother, pauper's life has never been steady. she's adapted well, and learned quickly how to make the best of her situation. her mother did the same, and together they managed to thrive, making the most out of their circumstances. there were very few youth pauper's age within the settlement, but she did her best to make her own fun. that was, until, her mother met a traveler and settled down with the pair.
shortly after the birth of her younger siblings, pauper approached her mother, and asked for her blessing in setting out on her own -- making a life for herself. while very reluctant at first, her mother came to respect her wishes and allowed pauper to set off.
