• Not too long after Gun Gale Online was released, another similar VRMMORPG came out. This game was called Mage Art Online.; where players choose a magic type, and put them to the test. There are mages to be fought, guilds to be joined, and tournaments to be won.

    What magic will you wield?

Other: In the real world, Chase is a cheery and cheeky person, despite the emotions he keeps bottled up inside. None of the people around him seem to be telling the truth, they are all fake, and he hates them in secret. This feeling started when he found out as a child that both of his parents had been cheating on each other, what makes it worse, is that it is stilling going on. Neither knows the other is doing it, and neither knows that Chase is aware of the whole thing. When in game, Chase is far more teasing, sarcastic, a much more dark version of his personality.

  • A girl with black, waist-length hair, and teal eyes laid down on her bed, visor in hand. It was comforting to know that when she placed these over her eyes, the terrible world she was born into, would disappear. Even if only for a few hours, Nora was glad to let loose, and become Shizuka, her preferable persona.

Sliding the visor over her eyes, Nora whispered the words under her breath, "Link Start."

Shizuka found herself in the town of Magnolia, the location of her guild, Fairy Tail. It was the strongest guild on the scoreboard, and Shizuka intended to keep it that way. Shizuka's magic, Satan Soul, was rare among MAO mages. Only certain players are given the option to choose this magic type, after taking the personality quiz when logging in for the first time.

The albino's black, high-heeled boots resound off the cobble ground, as she heads towards her guild. Shizuka was one of the more quiet members of Fairy Tail. Being not quite as boisterous as the others. But as far as the other mages were concerned, Shizuka was not one to be taken lightly.

  • "Yuh yuh," Cinnamon responded to 'her' mother setting the dishes into the sink. "Yuh, yuh. I know," she repeated with a frown, hearing her mother yell at her friend the living room. With a sigh, Cinnamon ran up the stairs, and rushed into her room, ignoring the remaining shouts from her mother.

Dinner had been really good, which made Cinnamon feel slightly guilty, for not doing some of the chores her mother had given her, but the game was too important! Grasping her visor, she sat back on her bed. Brushing some of her long black hair with pink streaks in it to the side, she placed her visor over her face.

Cinnamon turned it on, with her computer, and smiled, laying back onto her comfy bed. "Link Start," her soft voice came out. The virtual gateway envisioned in her mind, as the 'girl' connected with her feminine avatar in the world of Mage Art Online.

The one known as Thalia Legend materialized in the middle of Magnolia. A tall young woman, with purple-black hair, and glowing light blue eyes. She wore a short light blue dress, with light blue thigh-highs.

She opened her glowing blue eyes, and glanced around her at the virtual world before her. A smile crept up on her lips. This was her home. This was her domain. This was where she felt herself. Making a similar movement to her real-life self, she brushed some of her long hair out of her face, and began walking, wondering what she should do today/tonight. It was nighttime where she lived, but it was daytime in the game, with a bright simulated-sun high above.

  • A mage with short, light brown hair approached Shizuka, his avatar most likely far more attractive than his real self. "Hey girly, want to join a party with me?"

The albino smirked, "Now why would I do that?"

The man looked over Shizuka's shoulder at her player data, his eyes widening, "You're from the Fairy Tail guild?"

Shizuka stepped closer to the man, "Yep, look closer."

He took a step back, his eyes wide with fear, "S-Class..."

She took another step, "Yup, I don't need to demonstrate how I earned that rank, do I?"

He shook his head, tripping over his feet as he ran the other way, screaming about knowing what it was like to look into the eyes of the devil.

Laughing quietly under her breath, Shizuka easily made her way to her guild hall. "Shizu-chan! Watch out!" The albino tilted her head to the side, dodging the beer glass easily, smiling softly at the short girl who whacked one of the other mages in the head, scolding him for being so reckless.

  •

"Thanks," Thalia said cheerfully, as the girl of 5'8'' left the store, with a nice little ring of a bell behind her. She inspected the sword she had just bought. A higher level weapon, with an high attack stat. It had a secret stat of sharpness, that was rather high. The balance stat was quite good, and all the other stats were basically meaningless. It was meant for attacking. Which suited her purposes. It had cost a pretty penny, but Thalia had managed to acquire quite a lot of in-game currency, from her various jobs, adventures, and quests.

Walking through the lively city of Magnolia, her eyes wandered. Many players were going about their own business. With some shopping, and some doing other various things. She made sure to inspect as much as she could, that was not set to private. There were some that were quite good, but no one noteworthy she noticed.

  • OOC: I reckon with the plot, there could be a rogue mage gone lose, using a forbidden magic, a glitch of sorts, that kills players for real.

IC: "Shizuka! Could you do me a favour?" Makarov, the guild master shouted out to the white-haired mage. In real life, he was also an old man, but Shizuka highly doubted that he was that short in the real world too.

"Sure thing Master," the albino smirked at the old man as she approached him at his place on the bar.

"Could you please take our new member into town and show her the ropes?" Markov pointed to the younger child waiting nervously by the guild entrance. She had light pink hair, done up in two short pigtails, and she looked to only be 10 years old, wearing the more bad*ss version of a school uniform.

Shizuka nodded, leaving the guild with the girl, but not before Makarov called out to her, "Don't scare her too badly!"

The small girl started shaking, looking more nervous than ever as she fiddled with her hands continuously. The girl's screen name was Lara, and she didn't really look quite up for the challenge of playing MAO, but her magic type had to have been promising for her to have been accepted into Fairy Tail.

"It's good to a have a weapon, just in case your magic isn't effective against your opponent," Shizuka smiled, putting the girl at ease as they headed towards the blacksmith. "Now, this is one of the best blacksmiths in Fiore, so the weapons aren't going to be cheap."

Lara's shoulders slumped, her wide eyes not nearly as bright as before. "However," She looked back up, hopeful,"Since it'll be your first weapon, and you're a part of Fairy Tail now, it'll be my treat." The pink-haired girl jumped excitedly, hugging Shizuka tight "Oh my God, thank you so much! I'll make it up to you I promise!"

Shizuka stumbled back, her eyes wide in surprise, before she relaxed, hesitantly returning the embrace. The albino pulled back, grabbing the girl's hand gently before tugging her towards the blacksmith. The two girls looked like sisters, one young and playful, the other older with an amused yet affectionate glint in her eye.

Thalia's, or rather, Cinna's avatar was an unusual one. For one, avatars were not generally given to the opposite gender. Though, the game was progressive in the way it helped people who had some gender identity differences. However, that wasn't the entire story behind Cinna's avatar.

Cinna's avatar was unusual in the fact, that levels, and class had very little interactions with her avatar. Oh, she earned levels like anyone else, and a class ranking like anyone else. She was officially ranked as 'B'. However, Cinna's avatar had a hidden "Growth" stat. Sort of like, a handicap. Usually 'handicap' was a word with a stigma attached to it. Like someone needed a bit more help to play, unlike anyone else. This was not the case. In fact it was the opposite.

This 'Growth' stat, allowed Cinna's character to momentarily increase in power. It was why her magic was 'Soul magic'. Combined with her Soul magic, Thalia could bypass the level she was at, and bypass her current class. The more 'Soul' that went into her, the stronger she became at any given time.

This particular little avatar was given special to Cinna, by her aunt. Her aunt worked on the game, at the game's company which was located in (insert place here :P, duno where we are gunna put stuff in the real world lol). Cinna's connections sometimes helped her out, primarily with her special avatar.

Anyway, Thalia's glowing light blue eyes stopped on two people, nearing the place she had just left. One was ranked 'S', and one was ranked very low. The S was the one that intrigued her a lot. "Woah," she mused, stepping before the two. "A rank S, huh?" she asked out, smiling.

  • Shizuka raised an eyebrow, tilting her head to the side slightly, "Yeah, a rank B, huh?" The albino wasn't ignorant, she didn't believe this girl to be weak because she was B Rank. A Rank in itself was hard enough to get to, B Rank wasn't too far behind.

Meanwhile, Lara backed away slightly, her hold on Shizuka's hand tightening. The white-haired mage didn't miss this, deducing that the girl wasn't too good with strangers. Shizuka wondered how shy the short girl was in the real world. Usually, people were far more extrovert when playing VRMMROPGs, because they have the appearance they always wanted, and power they never had.

  •

A flash crossed her face, at the other person's tone. "Oh! Excuse my poor manners!" she giggled, with a shake of her head. "Y-yeah, it must've been weird a class B just suddenly calling you out like that! I apologize!"

With a smile, she held out her hand. "I'm Thalia, though.. you can see that by my screen name, but anyway," she introduced herself with a grin. Her eyes glanced down at the other girl, who seemed to be shying away in a frightened manner. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you!" She noticed it was a new player. A new player with an S rank? She would learn the game fast.

"Oh? Are you searching out a weapon for her?" Thalia asked, glancing back behind her. "The blacksmith there is quite amazing. It's where I got my new sword," she said, indicating to the blade on her back. "The good stuff is quite pricey though, I'm warnin' ya."

  • A grin split across Shizuka's lips, "That's why I'm getting it for her. Might as well put my money to use, right?" Lara, though she was still slightly behind Shizuka, smiled shyly up at the black-haired mage as acknowledgement of her apology.

"You are right though, this place is amazing, it's where I got my baby too," Shizuka smirked, a black scythe materialising in her hand.

(Think Spirit in his scythe form in Soul Eater)

The blade shimmered with the sunlight from the virtual sun, from its place along Shizuka's shoulders. Not many mages wielded scythes, but the curve of the blade, and the way it twirled with her fingers was euphoric. The blade's best stats were accuracy, speed and power. It had also been specially made to channel her magic.

Lara yelped, but her fear was quickly expressed by a look of awe and admiration. Shizuka looked like a bad*ss reaper, and Lara couldn't help but want to be like her. What she wouldn't give to see the white-haired mage in action, kicking butt with her deadly blade.

  •

Thalia blinked, watching the mage spin around the magnificent looking scythe. It was super cool, and very rare to see such a weapon used. "OH! Quite cool," she said impressed. It definitely looked cooler than her simple sword. But an elegant blade was nice and sexy, and also got the job done.

Thalia went back to her wallet, to check how much in-game currency she had. A solid amount, even after spending so much on her new sword. "I suppose so, if you're rich, haha," she noted when Shizuka mentioned spending her money. "It's nice you're treating a new player to something so special. But depending on what you buy her, she might not be leveled enough -or ready enough to use it."

  • "That's why I'm training her," Shizuka smirked, spinning her scythe until it disappeared in a shimmer of pixels. Lara's eyes had been trained solely on the blade, so when it disappeared she yelped form surprise. Rubbing her neck sheepishly, Lara inched behind Shizuka a little more.

Shizuka enjoyed being the protector, she was so used to being the protected, until her brother left. Her big brother left a couple years ago to go to some fancy school overseas. So now she was just living with her auntie, missing the presence of her big brother.

But Shizuka didn't like to think of these things in-game. In-game was the only place that she could actually be happy, and she didn't want to ruin that by thinking of the bad things that made her weak in the real world.

  •

Thalia noticed the cowering girl yelp when the weapon disappeared into the ether. So she was one of those super shy types in the real world. Sort of like herself. However, this was the game world. A virtual world where you could reinvent your personality, and self, where no one knew you. So it was perplexing how this girl was still so timid.

Thalia grinned and nodded. "Good luck, I'm sure she'll get quite strong learning from an S-class. Well, I really shouldn't keep you any longer." With that, she made movement to leave.

  • "Perhaps we could go on a mission some time," Shizuka turned her upper body to face her leaving form, smirk on her lips, "I'd like to see your magic in action." Soul Magic, was a magic even more rare than her own, and the albino was interested in seeing how the black-haired mage used it.

Even if some mages use the same magic, it doesn't matter, because they all use it in different ways. That's what Shizuka loved about MAO - you defined your magic, the magic didn't define you. One magic was not stronger than another, as long as they were used properly. Even the weakest magic had the potential to wipe out one of the top mages in the MAO world.

  •

Thalia paused as the other girl mentioned going a mission together. "Oh, perhaps," she said. Using the power of the cybernetic universe they lived in, she sent a message over to the girl beside her. Giving her her contact information.

"There we go, sent, now you can contact me if you wish," she said with a smile. It seemed this S rank knew her magic. Not many actually knew what Soul magic was. It sounded fairly generic as a magic type, and unless they saw it in action, they probably thought it sucked. But of course an S rank would know what it did. She grinned. "Next time, I'm sure I'll impress you."

  • "Looking forward to it," Shizuka grinned, sending her own contact information to the girl. Placing a hand on Lara's shoulder, the albino pushed her towards the blacksmith. The bell chimed, signalling their entrance, and Shizuka was already on the lookout for the perfect weapon for the pink-haired girl beside her. Lara followed awkwardly, confused while Shizuka observed the many weapons with a well-trained eye.

  •

Thalia gave the departing girl a nod, and turned away. She hoped they managed to find the right weapon for the starting player. An early game weapon wouldn't last long, but if there was one that would provide considerable aid, they'd find it there at that blacksmith. And if the S rank girl was as rich as she let on, the price would not be an issue.

As for the black-haired girl, she had her own matters to attend to. A job she recently took on required her to venture out into a dark part of the world, rife with peril. She looked forward to the challenge. In the next moment, she dematerialized, teleporting to the place where her services were required.

  • "Anything catch your eye?" Shizuka questioned the short girl, who jumped in surprise, having been focusing on the many weapons in the room. Lara relaxed, then sheepishly rubbed her neck, "Umm, well I-"

The girl stopped, her gaze landing on a weapon in the corner of the shop, and she rushed over to it, eyes wide with awe, "This is the one!" The weapon she was staring at was an axe, made of dark metal, donned with glowing pink patterns that had been engraved into the surface.

Shizuka opened up the info on the weapon, comparing it with Lara's player info. The albino nodded to herself as she went, as if agreeing with herself silently. "We'll have to customise it to better suit your stats as well as your magic, but other than that, it should work."

Lara jumped excitedly, fan-girling at the thought of wielding such a blade, using it with her Wind and High Speed Magic. Shizuka went up to the blacksmith, speaking with him about the short girl's weapon, while Lara noticed another customer walk into the shop. His hair was pitch black, and his eyes were the same red as Shizuka's, but he gave off a different kind of aura.

"Well, if it isn't the great Shizuka," The male smirked, sliding his finger across the blade of his all-black katana. Shizuka smirked, turning around to face him after paying for Lara's weapon.

    "Clash, what brings you here?"

"Just here to upgrade my little sweetheart here, don't want her to get too blunt, do we now?" In the blink of an eye, Clash was in front of Shizuka, his blade at her neck, despite the fact no damage could be done in a safe zone.
