  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: auto; width: 430px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt;]Oversized striped paws fumbled with delicate strings, and the young cub bit his lip in concentration as he twisted them around a branch bent into a circle. He sat on the front porch of one of the candy-coloured houses, a hot breeze ruffling his fur slightly while oppressive gray clouds loomed above them, trapping in the heat.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 430px; text-align: justify; letter-spacing: -1px;][] Ben would usually be sleeping at this time--owls slept in the day and woke at night, after all--but because of the dark clouds, he couldn't tell the time of day. It could be night or day, and he couldn't discern which it was currently. His body seemed to feel the same; he wasn't fatigued or energized, interestingly enough.

Flying a few yards up, the owl had spied the little tiger fumbling with...something. He figured it was a child's game, since he had no idea what Dakota was attempting to accomplish. He made a soft dive into the grass near the front porch that the manager was sitting on, just to make sure he could still see, and inquired softly: "What are you doing?"

  • [fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 500px][justify]Nanuk would rarely be found within the perimeters of the pastel colored houses. She could be found at times to retrieve something, but she was now accustomed to calling the dense forestry outside the neighborhood her true home and not a human contraption. The large tawny dire wolf was trotting throughout the road when a slightly familiar ball of fur came in her view with what seemed like string. It was obviously one of the many children of Uma and Bane, a small snort coming from her powerful maw before deciding to pad towards it. An owl she had yet to meet was also near the cub, but it seemed tranquil thus the fem didn't care to take action. Considering the question she had in mind was already established, Nanuk held her silence.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: auto; width: 430px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt;]The cub held out a paw to give the owl and the dire wolf a better look at what he had been making, the small object swinging slightly as it hung from his paw. "It's a dreamcatcher," he explained. Anyone who knew him well would have noticed that though his voice was friendly, it was lacking in his usual cheery enthusiasm. "Native Americans made them, they keep nightmares away."

Despite the large changes that the clan had gone through, Dakota hadn't completely been able to give up their old customs. The carved bones that littered their street made an eerie contrast with the peaceful pastel-coloured houses, and dreamcatchers hanging from the eves would only enforce that. But that wasn't why he was making them - he was simply looking for any way to sleep soundly again.
