  • It's just too much. I need to wait for the book to come out in paperback, since I have the other books in paperback. And it"s cheaper. I might go insane if it doesn't come out soon.
When I finished the book I called my friend in absolute panic and she hung up on me shortly after I tried to explain everything. XD
Love Manon and Abraxos. And their story. I'm really excited to see how she ties in with everything else. But ny favorite character is probably Rowan. Love how primal and genuine he is.

Yan was gasping for breath, trembling slightly as she looked behind herself, gaze weary and exhausted. Hooves still pounded the earth, and there were screams from the crowd, but nothing in their direction. It wouldn't be long, though. "Let's keep moving." Yan said. "They'll probably seal off the entire city; we won't have a way out."

  • Sorry for leaving you during this traumatic time xD What did you think of Maeve?

Nass nodded, peeking out of the alley to make sure they were in the clear. "Right. Smart idea, Yan." She looked behind her and frowned as she saw the princess shaking. "Hey, easy," she said, reaching out and grasping Yan's hand. "We'll be alright." She smiled in what she hoped was a reassuring manner. "Now let's go." Without another word, she hurried from the alley with Yan behind her.

  • Yan followed without a word, sapphire gaze darting from side to side as she pulled her hood over her head. They couldn't find them. Wouldn't find them.
Vaughn thundered towards the city gates. The moment the guards saw him, they stood at attention, ram rod straight. "Close off the gates," he barked, "no one goes in or out without inspection from my Guard. Double the sentries on the walls." Vaughn's men soon approached, hathering as they all failed to find the princess. The Captain repeated his orders to his men before they spread out once more, someremaining at the gates while others went in and around the city. Surrounding it. Encasing it.

Oh, Maeve. The main reason I dislike her is just necause her confidence comes from the power she has. She's this arrogant, snubby b¡tch. That is all.

  • Nass pressed her back against a wall and peaked around it. Directly before them lay the gate...and it was already barred. "Damn, pretty boy works fast," she muttered. "Gate's already blocked," she said to Yan. "We'll have to find some other way out. Scale the walls, maybe. There has to be a smugglers tunnel around somewhere, maybe we could find that."

  • Yan hurried away from the wall, into the crowded city streets. "I don't know what I'm doing.." She said slowly, gaze low from beneath her hood. And she didn't. Never had she dealt with this before in her life. And never did anyone bother to tell her about this world. If only-
Yan's ears twitched, and she stopped walking suddenly. A message was rippling through the crowd, murmurs at first, but soon to be frantic shouts and screams.
    "The king is dead..."
"The Silver Knight died trying to save him.."
"The whole castle has been infiltrated.."

  • Nass had no idea what everybody was talking about, but the confusion and chaos was as good a chance to escape as any. "Come on," she said, grabbing Yan's hand. "Keep your hood up and your head down." She led the silver haired girl through the crowd, heading towards the gate, where a large crowd was already gathering and trying to break out. It was practically a riot.

  • Vaughn had his sword drawn, swearing out to the scum that swore right back at him, and he bristled with hostility. This was not good, his handful of men and the worthless guard here wouldn't stand against this.
Yan followed closely not evem farong to look up as she watched the ground. This was all for her father.. All for Kain... She wasn't alone. Even though these people were more afraid and sad, at least they were both angry. Confused. With no heirs to take over, and the majority of the castle staff and guard wiped out itself, the Haigi Kingdom was truly nothing.

  • The cries of the people rose in volume as they pressed closer to the gate. "Let us out, you bastard!" cried a deep voiced man. Vaughn and the gate guards soon found themselves hard pressed to hold back a wave of humanity crashing against them. Nass took firm hold of Yan's hand and yelled over the crowd, "Be ready t run!"

  • Vaughn looked out at one of his guards, and they shared a look of panic. They had to let this one go, had to find the princess another way. "Open the damn gates!" He cried to the guards on the wall above. A few minutes latrr, the gate slowed grinded open, and once it was tall enough, the crowd flooded through like a mob.
Yan hurried through the rushing crowd, mingling within the people with no issue.

  • Nass followed closely behind Yan, trying to keep her in sight. She might not be getting a ransom now, but this girl was her responsibility. However, before they could make it through the gate, a heavy hand fell on Nass' shoulder. "I found 'em!" cried the man restraining her, one of Vaughn's knights. "Over here!"

  • It all happened way too fast. Without Ghost Blade to scare them away, the guards swarmed into the crowds. When a strong hand grabbed Yan's wrist, she instantly thought it was Nass, but she was deeply mistakened as that gand yanked her back, pulling her out of the crowd and back into the city. The ice princess kicked and screamed, looking at the crowd that swarmed around her in desperation. Not one even looked her away.
Once away from the people, the guard holding her arm was accompanied by a second one. Then another. And another. She couldn't see Nass anywhere, her sapphire gaze wide and frantic. And before she could even say anything, a strong kick at the back of her knees brought her to the ground, stones dogging into her delicate skin. Her wrists and ankles were bound moments later, and she did nothing to try and fight back.

Vaughn watched his guards with some sense of pride. Not that he should be proud of them, this was expected. But he supposed they weren't as mindless as they seemed on the way here. "Let's get moving. We need to hurry." Yan was hoisted over a man's shoulder, before being thrown over a horse. They didn't have to speak his name to know that he was the biggest threat at the moment.
"What about her?" A guard motioned over to Nass, who was also bound. "Just bring her along. She might be useful." Vaughn hissed. They didn't have the time to spill blood.

  • Nass struggled as a guard tied her hands behind her back. "Yan, run!" she cried, not knowing her charge had already been captured. However, when the crowd began to dissipate an she saw the princess thrown over the back of a horse, she slumped in defeat. That was it, then. She was dead, and Yan was...wait, they weren't killing her? She struggled furiously as some thug tossed her over a horse as well, unable to fathom why she hadn't been left to die. Well, whatever the reason, she was alive and she intended to make the most of it.

  • The men stormed out of the town as quickly as they came, not giving any notion of being gentle or considerate of who they now brought with them.

    ~

The sun was beginning to set when Vaughn called for his men tor etire for the night. Yan, who was ill from the movememt and practically green in the face, was lifted from the horse's rear and set on the ground. The guards were setting up camp all around her, ultimately surrounding her and giving her no chance of getting away, whether ir not she was bound.
Vaughn pulled Nass down, taking little time to toss her weight to the ground, looking down at her with glimmering eyes. He had thought iver the trip.. perhaps she was not going to be much help. Especially when he was order specifally to kill such a girl.

    Is.. that alright? XD

  • Alright, sorry sorry. Good thing I confirmed.

Yan watched with wide eyes as Vaughn drew his sword, Nass kneeling before him. The soldiers around them were still setting up camp, the fire flickering to life behind her as the horses were posted for the night. The sword rose in the air. "Stop!" Yan screamed, her voice shrill. Vaughn ignored her, and the princess did something she's never done before.
The ice was faster than the blade, faster than the wind and the light that danced off the metal. It came in a rush, the bitter wind sinking deep into Vaughn's arm, and the camp fell silent.
    "Don't touch her."

  • That's okay. Sorry if it seemed like I freaked out there.

Nass saw Vaughn draw his sword. She saw him raise his arm to strike. No, no! she thought. This can't be happening. Dying was something that happened to other people. Not her, surely? The thief scrambled backwards as best she could, but was unable to escape the arc of the blade. Her life flashed before her eyes as the cold steel descended, and she closed her eyes and let out a shriek of fear. Then...nothing.

Nass opened her eyes to see Vaugh no longer standing over her. Instead, he was stooped over and clutching a massive wound in his arm, where a shard of ice was lodged. "What the--"

  • Yan had snapped out of it soon after she hissed at Vaughn, blinking as she stared at the scene before, trying to grasp at whatever power was leaving her mind. But it was gone, and Nass was alive. Even when Vaughn stormed towards her and made a coward's move of kicking her on the side of her skull, she wasn't afraid. Didn't regret the decision she made.
It was the second blow to her head thay put her out cold.
