Matthew backed up a bit so he was more or less in front of Thayer and Anna. The tan wolf, a young male snarled at Matthew.

Why have you brought the hunter and the leech into our lands, Matthew!? he snarled.

Don't snarl at me, runt! I taught you how to fight, but I'll rip your face off as soon as look at you right now. he growled back. That leech... happens to be my cousin, a Green and a member of the Royal family of the Green- Hills. As such he has immunity in our lands and you cannot touch him! The girl likewise has the same immunity- she is Annabella Shadow, Princess and heir of the Shadow Paw Pa-

What do we care about the lies they have fed you, Matthew Green!? an older black furred male snarled at him. All I know is they are under arrest for entering Red Sands lands! If you won't let us have them, then you leave us no choice.

You want them... you'll have to get through me!

The black male narrowed his eyes.

So be it. Get them! he yelled. And show Matthew no quarter!

As one the other three wolves dog piled Matthew as the leader made for Thayer's unprotected back.

Seattle shifted anxiously the edge of the sofa. Something bad was about to go down. Jace looked up at Alec.

"Sorry to disturb you, Alpha." he said anxiously, purposely keeping his voice low so as not to disturb Seattle. "Leeches were spotted crossing our borders. They seem to be looking for something... and a large group is headed towards camp. Similar groups have been seen heading towards the Eastern Pack... and the WanderPawes."

Gregory kissed his mate back fiercely as she threw herself into his arms. He then nodded at her words as she drew back.

I always am, babe. he winked at her and gave her a small smile. But you need to be careful too... since the same applies to you. At least you'll have the added protection of your dark fur... you'll be nearly invisible. Still be careful and stay safe.

He then turned to the river bank and got out, shifting and sniffing the air. He growled softly. 2 leeches, one on each of the 2 banks. If he played their cards right, Ebony could be long gone before the one on the opposite bank got round to helping their friend... as long there wasn't any more waiting to ambush them in the woods. He turned to the river and gave two short barks. The signal that all was clear- or as clear as it was going to get.

As Anna tackle the top wolf (the young tan one) off of Matthew, the two elder wolves tag-teamed Matthew so he couldn't help her. He growled as he snapped at one, only to have the other bite him in the neck.

Anna! he howled as he bit the male back.

The black male snarled at Thayer and leapt at him again.

As the young tan leapt at Anna again, he was unaware that a crossbow bolt was headed towards his back, loosed by human hunter who was trying to keep Anna safe.

Angela got up a she heard chaos break out in camp. She hurried out of her room in time to hear a warrior just about break down their den door, arguing with her mother all the way to where her father was.

"Mac, get up." Tomas, the other one involved in the incident with Carlisle yelled at him.

Mac merely grimaced.

"Mac, there's an emergency! Now get your drunk ass UP!" Thomas yelled, rolling him off the couch here he landed with a thump in a heap and groaned but didn't wake.

Angela realised what she was about to do was wrong on many levels and would probably get her grounded once whatever was happening was over. She drew a deep breath and let out a piercing scream.

"Daddy! DADDY HELP ME!!!" she shrieked.

That did the trick, as well as brought several warriors running into the den. As Mac sat up and swore as the headache brought on by his abrupt awakening hit him, Thomas quickly dispatched the other warriors. H then turned t Mac, and told him, in as small words as he could manage, what was happening, Angela felt her heart contract in fear. If all the warriors were being ordered out then...

Theo!

Jace hurried over to Theo and knocked on his den door.

"Theo!" he called. "We have an emergency!"

Seattle closed her eyes and sage against her mate.

"Is it too much to ask to have a peaceful evening once in a while..." she said softy, trying to hide her fear for her parents, brothers and Ebony.

She knew that the Western pack would be alright, since they had strength in numbers, which the WanderPawes didn't. And Silva was not the strongest fighter, although she would fight to proecct her family.

Lupus... please let them be alright... she prayed. Lt Alec and his warriors be alright... don't make me and Kendall and so many other females raise our pups alone!

Danny and his warriors were already engaging vampires which had crossed into his territory from the WanderPawe's land and he worried that they may have been killed. He sent two warriors to go to their aid, then thought of his little brother.

Lupus... please protect Alec and his pack!

As Ebony shot past him, Gregory launched himself at the vampire, catching it off guard. He just hoped Ebony got back to the cave in time.

Talk was running full tilt towards the triangle where the WanderPawe territory met with Alec and Danny's, two vampires on his tail. His family had been attacked by 5 vamps in Talk's glade where they had been trying to talk things though with each other, when they had split, Talk heading one way and his parents to the cave. He just hoped his parents were alright... and Greg and Ebony too. Talk sped up, trying to lose the vampires in the mountain passes.

As the bolt hit Anna, the young tan wolf shifted to reveal a young, blonde haired male around Andrew's age.

"Oh sh!t... " he muttered, then lightly fingered the bolt before growling, his green eyes easily picking out the human in the trees, the one the female had called Grayson.

"Are all humans such cowards that they shoot wolves in the back!?" he snarled, causing the human male to roll out of the tree, leveling his crossbow at the young werewolf again.

"I was trying to protect her from you, you damned mutt!" he snarled. "I'm sure you're aware, but it's against your pack rules to harm humans."

"Only those who don't trespass on our lands!" the youngster snarled back, leaping to his feet, Grayson covering the action with his crossbow.

As the hybrid yelled out for the girl, the black-furred Roman talked him, before looking over his shoulder and seeing the confrontation happening and the girl pinned to the floor.

Sh!t! he swore leaping off of Thayer, the human the bigger threat at the moment.

He stalked up to the young male, snarling as his fur bristled at the human.

Malcolm, stand down. he snarled, turning to the human. Go back to your camp, human.

Grayson glared at the black furred wolf.

"You do not tell me what to do, mutt!"

Before Roman could respond, he heard someone cry out.

Roman!

Turning, he saw the other two wolves pining an irate Matthew beneath them, his brown eyes bleeding red as he glared at the human.

Well... that can't be good... he muttered, then turned back to the human. You better run, human!

"Don't you tell me what to-!"

Enough! a voice snarled as a red-furred female wolf leapt out of the bushes, several appearing behind her. Just... enough.

Jace nodded back at Theo and quickly told him what was happening.

Seattle looked up at her mate as he said he'd sent help to her family and she smiled sadly, nodding as Alec said he had to go and that he was taking her to Kendall.

"Alec... I know you always are... but... please be careful." she murmured softly as he carried her out their den.

She then smiled at her mate's cousin-by-mating as they arrived at Kendall and Nuka's den and Kendall opened the door.

"You always seem to know everything, Kendall." she teased her lightly. "Is that a benefit to being a mother?"

Duece was bleeding from a slash across his back and in several other places. His face was grim as he turned to his daughter-in-law as she ran in, calling for Talk. Silva was seated on a sleeping mat, also bleeding badly from several places, the worst being her arm that Deuce was patching up. She turned to Ebony.

"He's not here." she told her daughter-in-law, tears in her blue eyes. "My baby is out there somewhere with leeches on his tail..."

Deuce sighed.

"Where's Greg?" he asked tiredly.

The fact that his son's mate had returned alone boded ill.

Talk heard screams and turned around to see a wolf had finished off the two vampires he couldn't shake. He walked over to Nuka, recognizing the wolf.

Hey... I know you. You're one of Alec's wolves, right? he said. Thanks for your help... I couldn't shake them.

He turned to look to the side and snarled as another three vampires appeared, then looked stunned as they were felled from behind by two wolves he didn't recognize.

Don't be alarmed. Danny East sent us. one of them said, turning to Nuka. Seems the two brothers had the same idea... Nuka.

Before Talk could say anything, a distant, pain-filled yelp filled the air. Talk turned to it and felt his heart drop to the ground through his paws.

No...! GREG! He yelped, before running off in the direction the yelps had come from.

Mitchel watched as Kali jumped off a small cliff, then gave the two wolves with her a warning. Mitchel smiled slightly.

Kinda reminds you of those trips we used to take with Mel, Tate, Robert and the rest when we were younger... after the fueds and we were united as the 4 Great Clans... he said to Tobias. Doesn't it?

He then leapt down the cliff as Kali had done, landing next to her in a low crouch to absorb the impact.

Mitchel huffed a chuckled a h got p from his crouch, shaking out his forepaws from the pain of impact.

Agreed. told Tobias with a smile.

Grayson hesitated as Anna ordered him to leave, when Siobhan turned her head to him.

Do as she says, human. she told him. You r the one who is in h greatest danger right now.

She indicated Matthew, who, now free of the two on top of him, made to leap at the man who had hurt Anna, only to be blocked by Roman and some of the wolves who had come with Shee. Grayson nodded, then shouldered his crossbow and looked at Anna.

"I'm sorry... I was only trying to protect you, Anna..." he said, then left.

Shee turned to Thayer as he told the wolves not to be on Matthew in rage mode. She giggled.

It's not wise to be near Matthew in any mood except pleasant.she said with a wolfish grin, shifting. "And that's seldom enough."

"Not helping, Princess." Roman said as he shifted and indicated Matthew.

Shee sighed as Matthew seemed t calm down at Anna's quiet urging, his eyes becoming chocolate brown as he carefully hugged her.

"Matthew needs to stop taking everything so personally." she told Roman, before turning to the wolves around her. "The hybrid and human are guests of the Alpha. As such, they have immunity here. Since you and your wolves didn't know Roman, I'll make sure you only get a telling off this time"

She shifted back again.

Now, let's go. she said. Leeches have been sighted near our borders and I think we've all had enough excitement for one night.

Jace nodded and left to do as the older, and thus senior, warrior told him to, calling out to Travis to help him.

Hearing Theo's voice, Angela quietly excused herself and hurried over to him.

"Theo...!" she hugged him tightly. "I heard what's happening..."

She looked up at him with fear in her eyes. She didn't want him to fight, but knew he had to. Just as she would had she been a week or so older.

"Please be careful." was all she said in a soft whisper.

Seattle kissed her mate back tenderly, then smiled as he set her carefully on her feet. She just hoped no one would be mourning once this was all over. She wondered where Nuka was, but then thought he must be readying the warriors for Alec. She then chuckle at what Kendall said. Yes, it was true. Whenever something happened, Alec put Seattle in Kendall's care. The only time it had been different was when she had tripped and miscarried... Seattle shook her head to get rid of the bad memory. Now was not the time.

"Yes, that is true..." she told Kendall, her smile sad.

Deuce topped as Ebony sad he wouldn't need the bandages after she was done, then closed her eyes as Silva gave a soft sob. He smiled up at Ebony as she healed them.

"Done as only a shaman's daughter could." he told her kindly, then stood up. "Ebony, I know you're worried about Greg, but I need you to sty here with Silva in case-"

He stopped as he heard the same yelps Talk had.

"Greg...!"

Just ten he shifted and snarled as he heard footfalls and saw the 2 wolves sent by Danny approaching. The older of the two quickly explained why they were there as Deuce nodded.

"Please protect the females... I must go help my son!" he said as he shifted and ran off.

Talk grinned as Nuka introduced himself, before he ran off.

Gregory was surrounded by 3 vampires who were taking turns, tag-teaming against him. He was bleeding badly and it was obvious the vampires were just toying with him.

Matthew grabbed Anna as she fainted, terror shining in his eyes for a moment, then he nodded at what Thayer said, gently picking Anna up. Shee turned to Matthew.

You better get her to Melchior. she told him. I'll take the hybrid to my father. I promise, no harm will come to him.

Matthew looked at Siobhan and nodded. He turned to Thayer.

"See you soon, cousin." he said, before running off towards the camp with Anna.

Between then, Jace and Travis managed to get the warriors ready and sorted for Alec. Jace glanced at his twin. He had a feeling things weren't going to go well...

Angela kissed Theo back and then nodded at what he said, her expression serious.

I won't... I promise. she said. Until you all return... neither I nor my mother will open our front door.

Hearing a soft growl, Angela closed her eyes and looked over at her father, who was glaring daggers at Theo, who still had his arms wrapped around her. Smiling softly, Angela's mother moved over to her mate as Thomas gripped Mac's shoulder, a knowing smile on his face. Angela frowned as her mother whispered something into Mac's ear and he seemed to calm down, although he still didn't look overly pleased with the familiar way Theo was interacting with his precious daughter. Deciding not to say anything, Mac turned to his wife and spoke to her. She nodded and he smiled, walking towards Angela.

I'm trusting you to take care of your mother, Angie. he told her softly. She can't protect herself. You can.

Angela nodded.

Be careful father. she said softly. And take care of Theo for me... please.

Seeming less than pleased at that, Mac nodded sourly, then turned to the other two warriors.

"Let's go." he said. "The Alpha is waiting."

Seattle kissed her mate back and watched as he left, fear spiking through her heart. She turned to Kendall as she gently pulled her inside the den.

"Yes, I know..." she said softly. "But... he is not the only one I fear for... my family is out there... alone and virtually unprotected. Not that I doubt they won't fight to the last of them, Talk and mot-Silva included."

As Nuka appeared, telling him to get Gregory home, Talk frowned.

Nuka... you can't fight them alone...! he said, lunging at another vampire who was trying to attack Greg.

He's not alone. said a white wolf, killing another vampire trying to jump Talk. I'll help Nuka... just get your brother home! Danny's wolves are up ahead waiting for you.

Talk gaped at the wolf he had thought was dead, but realizing he was wasting time, he nodded and gently pulled his older brother onto his back. He then trotted off, going as fast as he could under his brother's weight.

Hearing his mate's yell, Gregory tried to respond.

E-ebby... he whined, alarmed by how weak his own voice sounded.

He was in a bad situation, he knew it. He could feel it. He yelped as Talk pulled him onto his back and headed off somewhere. Gregory just hoped that where ever they were headed... they got there fast.

Mitchell noticed Kali's limp.

Daughter... did you hurt yourself? he asked her softly as they walked, then growled low in his chest as he picked up on an unwelcome scent.

Vampires. In his territory. And they were fairly close by.

We need to get moving. he told Kali and Tobias.

"Melchior!" Matthew yelled as he bounded into camp and to the shaman's den door, almost beating the poor thing off its hinges. "Melchior!"

"Really, Matthew!" Melchior began, wrenching open the door and barely avoiding getting beaned by his cousin. "Bring her in, Andrew and I will take care of her."

Matthew carried Anna into the den and saw that Andrew was waiting by the sofa, where they had everything set up.

"Don't worry, brother..." he said quietly. "We'll make sure you don't lose her."

Shee gave Thayer a wolfish smile. Although her eyes were filled with both fear and gratitude, her words were teasing.

Are you trying to convince me or yourself? she asked Thayer, then through back her head and howled eerily, causing all the wolves present to move closer to her. Let us and our guest be off to the camp. I'm sure my father is rather interested to find out what's happening.

With that she took off, the other wolves behind her.

Jace was sent to a different edge of camp and he looked around nervously. It was going to be a long night for all involved.

Angela smiled as she watched the three males walk away, then closed and locked the den door, grabbing a set of hunting knives her father had given her for her last birthday so she was at least armed as she helped her mother get supper started, trying to be as normal as possible.

I love you too, Theo. she told him quietly. And I know you'll come back to me. I'll be waiting.

Mac didn't look at Theo.

"Survive the night, and come to see me on the morrow as is our customs and I might let you court my daughter." was all he said as Thomas smiled.

As overprotective as Mac was, he couldn't ask for a better mate for his daughter than Theo and both he and Thomas knew that. Theo was an exemplary male, an outstanding warrior and a gentleman to boot. He would ensure that Angela was always happy. But that didn't mean Mac was going to make things easy for the young male.

Seattle sighed as she hugged Kendall back.

"I had a feeling he had sent your mate when I didn't see him around camp." she said as she drew back. "As grateful as I am and as strong as Nuka is... if anything happens to him..."

She sighed again, then nodded as the other female said Danny had probably sent help as well.

"Yes, you're probably right." she then chuckled as she hobbled to the living room. "Is there anything I can do to help you with something? If I don't get an occupation, I will go mad..."

The white wolf backed Nuka up as he killed another vampire trying to kill Nuka.

I hope the boy makes it home... he told Nuka as he lunged for another vampire, leaving the second, and last, for Nuka.

Silva dropped beside Ebony as she writhed in pain and curled into foetal position.

"Ebony?!"

"It's her gift." Deuce said, looking over his shoulder and returning to the cave. "All we can do is protect her and make her comfortable."

Danny's two wolves guarded Talk and the injured Gregory as they ran back to the cave den, Talk whining at every yelp his brother gave, worried by how weak he sounded.

Hang on, bro... we're almost home! he told him.

Gregory was barely aware of anything except he was in incredible pain, seemed to be moving and that Ebony and Talk had spoken to him, although their words sounded far off, as though through a tunnel.

Mitchel grinned at Tobias as he teleported himself and Kali back into their camp.

"Thank you, Tobias." he said as he shifted, picking Kali up.

I love this new software... I thought I had lost everything I typed thanks to my kitten switching off my laptop... but nope, all still here! FANTASTIC!

"Oh, I'm not angry at him- I'm furious." Matthew growled. "That hunter is just lucky he ran when he did..."

He then sighed.

"But I suppose he didn't ask you to jump in front of Malcolm and into the line of fire. " he said with a smile.

Keep talking to her, Matthew. Melchior told him. And get ready to hold her down. This is going to hurt.

Melchior gripped the stem of the bolt, preparing to either pull it out or push it through, depending on the arrowhead.

Shee huffed a chuckle at Thayer's words as they ran.

Yes I am, but so are you! she teased back. And I'm glad she's coming home. It's about time.

As soon as they returned to camp, Siobhan shifted.

"Roman and Malcolm, you will accompany me and our guest to Rodderick. Gaven, go to Mel's and check on the human." she said, her voice stern. "The rest, report to your positions."

Jace watched the forest as silence reigned. Suddenly a scream of agony split the night before being cut off. On of the guards on patrol had just been nailed. Jace grimaced.

"Here they come..." he muttered.

"You should worry about yourself, Theo, not me." Mac said, stopping and both facing him and addressing him by name for the first time. "Because if you hurt my little girl by dying, Lupus help me, I'll find a way to revive you and kill you myself. Am I understood?"

Seattle nodded at Kendall's words with a small strange smile on her face. It seemed the two cousins were not so different. And thankfully their mates were females who let them be themselves and do as they knew they must, no matter how scary or dangerous the situation may be. She then chuckled at Kendall's offer to help make dinner.

"I'd love to help!" she told her mate's cousin by mating.

Rion quickly hurried over to the hurt Nuka and pulled him onto his back. Although he was badly scratched up, Rion was in a far better state than the other wolf.

You just concentrate on keeping your heart beating. he told Nuka. Don't let your baby grow up not knowing his daddy!

Talk finally reached the den cave and collapsed in the entrance under Gregory's weight, whining helplessly as he felt how weak his brother's heartbeat was.

Lupus... please don't take Greg from us! he begged.

Deuce turned when he heard Talk's whine.

"Talk!" he rushed over. "Greg..."

Deuce felt his heart constrict in fear.

"Talk, put him down on that mat." Deuce said, fear evident in his eyes.

Talk gently put Gregory down on the mat.

Should I go to Danny East or Alec West to see if we can 'borrow' one of their shaman...? Talk asked his father.

Mitchel nodded at what Tobias said as he started towards his den.

"We will leave in a few moments." he told the shaman. "Let me just get the pack together."

He then turned to Kali.

"So you hurt your hand at some point, huh?" he asked her. "Probably badly sprained your wrist."
