[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]The blind cub walked with caution, ears swiveling around to try to pick up any sounds that could lead him back home. He had wandered off again, which was pretty terrifying. Shuffy continued to walk foward only to get his paws tangled up in a bundle of plants, causing him to trip. He hurried to jump back up to his paws, sniffing the plants curiously. They smelled... weird, and very strong. Little did he know that he had tripped over some marigold, but of course he couldn't tell what they were. He had never encountered herbs like this before.

/so rushed

birdie, on the other hand, was lost. she'd only recently joined her tribe, and didn't quite understand it's territory. how was she supposed to know where it stopped and began?
she saw the cub, who was, in fact, bigger then her, and froze. well, she realized, it was only a baby. it couldn't really hurt her, could it? she watched it trip, and her usual maternal instinct kicked in.
"pardon me, dear, are you alright? that was quite the tumble." she observed as she approached tentively, watching closely incase he attacked.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]Shuffy jumped, a bit surprised to hear a voice. He froze, unsure what to think. He had always been told not to talk to strangers, but this stranger seemed kind.

"Er- ye-yeah, I just tr-tripped over th-these-" He paused, blinking in uncertainty. "Um, wh-what are th-these exactly?" He asked, pointing to the marigold.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; color: white; font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: +2px; text-align: center;]why the caged bird sings[/fancypost]

birdie smiled, hearing his stutter- captain used to have a horrid stutter. he always blamed that on the humans, too.
glancing down at the marigold, the itch returned. the un-itchable itch that bothered her. she nodded, glancing up at him. "it's marigold. helps with infection and bleeding, that sort of thing. actually, it growing here means there's water near." birdie observed, spewing out knowledge that she had no recollection of ever learning. it was just...there.
"did you hurt yourself?" birdie asked with a look of concern, nodding to the plant. "it's actually perfect for stopping the things it can cause."

•
[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]Shuffy listened to what the female was explaining to him about marigold, which for some reason amazed him. A plant could really do all that? Wow. "Th-that's amazing..." he muttered, shaking his head. "I um, do-don't think I'm h-hurt." But he actually was. He had a small cut on his side, but he just didn't notice it.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; color: white; font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: +2px; text-align: center;]why the caged bird sings[/fancypost]

birdie chuckled, nodding. "it is, isn't it? sort of magical, when you think about it. my name's why the caged bird sings, or birdie for short." tentively, the feline leaned forward to get a look at his leg, spotting the small cut. "oh my- where do you live, little one?"

•
[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]Yes. Magical. That was the word that seemed to describe it. "Nice t-to meet yo-you Birdie. I'm Sh-Shuffledcub and I l-live in Aubadeclan," he answered, hoping that giving away this information wasn't bad or anything.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; color: white; font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: +2px; text-align: center;]why the caged bird sings[/fancypost]

aubadeclan? birdie had heaard that one mentioned before. "you're quite far from home, aren't you? got a nice little cut too." she said, debating. should she bring him to joy? then again, he'd probably get yelled at for being in the tribe lands. well technically she'd be yelled at for not being on the tribes land, she realized.
"how interested are you in the magic of herbs?" she asked with a smile. maybe she could give the kid a demonstration, then let him be on his way. nobody gets in trouble that way.

•
[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]Shuffledcub nodded. He didn't know exactly how far away he was, but he had been walking for hours. Wait- he had a cut? Oh... Oops.

The snow leopard's ears perked at the next thing that Birdie said. "Ve-very interested," he answered, nodding various times.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; color: white; font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: +2px; text-align: center;]why the caged bird sings[/fancypost]

birdie reached forward, plucking a stem of the marigold from the ground, glancing up at him. despite the apparent age difference, she was aware of the size difference. she was the size of a squirrel, after all.
"would you like a demonstration? i couldn't live with myself if i had you wander off into the woods with an open wound. you could get heavens knows what in that cut, have it infected, and that'd be a great big headache." okay, perhaps she was rambling. she hadn't done that before- but yet, it felt almost natural, rambling about wounds and cuts.

•
[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]A demonstration? He supposed he could stay for a little longer. Shuffy nodded, desiring to learn. "Y-yes, a de-demonstration wo-would be gre-great." He wouldn't want his wound to get infected or anything.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; color: white; font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: +2px; text-align: center;]why the caged bird sings[/fancypost]

thank the heavens.
birdie held the plant up, pointing to it. "marigold. grows just about everywhere, but there has to be water nearby. mix it into a pulp," she said as she began doing so, before presenting it to the cub. "then apply to the wound. there's no such thing as too much marigold, only too little. it'll probably feel a little gross, but it doesn't usually hurt."
with that, she leaned forward and moved to apply the pulp.

•
[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]Shuffy's eyes widened. That was all there was to it? Just mix it into a pulp and then it was ready to be used? The snow leopard winced slightly as the female applied the marigold to his wound. She was right, it didn't really hurt, but it felt odd.

"W-wow... Are th-there other p-plants th-that do this k-kind of st-stuff?" He asked, curious. If there were then that would be amazing in the cub's mind.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; color: white; font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: +2px; text-align: center;]why the caged bird sings[/fancypost]

birdie couldn't help the small rush of satisfaction that came with helping others.
"all sorts of plants that do all sorts of things. some can put you to sleep, or take away pain, stop blood and broken bones- you name it." she explained, giving a small chuckle. "would you like to hear more?"
she'd done this before, explaining these things. it was so damn frustrating that she couldn't explain where it was from.

•
[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 390px;]Wow, this all sounded amazing! Magical, even. The snow leopard cub was a little surprised to hear that she was willing to tell him more about it. "Ye-yes, I would lo-love to hear m-more!" He was a little eager to learn about all these "magical" herbs.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; color: white; font-family: georgia; font-size: 20px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: +2px; text-align: center;]why the caged bird sings[/fancypost]

birdie smiled at the cubs excitement and stood, glancing around. spotting the familiar tall green plant, she approached it and picked a bit off, holding it up. "this is horsetail. silly name, yes, but it's very useful. it has the same effects as marigold, and you use it the same way, though this is better for larger, more serious wounds."
