Echo visibly relaxed, glad Fen wasn't angry. She raised her eyes to the rafters and studied Risingsun curiously. Had he been going to say "you love she-cats"? That flicker of hope in her heart leaped up again, but instead of quelling it, she decided that there was more than enough evidence to allow herself to be a little hopeful. Still, she decided it was best not to broach the subject just yet. "I've never really pictured myself as a mother, either." She replied, turning her attention back to the calico she. "But I'm sure you'll be a great one!" She crouched down and ate the mouse quickly.

Sitting back up, the black she-cat began to groom herself, avoiding the cobwebs plastering her burn. Between licks, she meowed, "I hope you don't mind me asking this, you don't have to answer if you don't want to. It is your right, of course, but I am curious... Where is the father?" Her pale eyes were soft and searching as she paused in her grooming to study Fen's face. Her first thought was that he had left her after realizing she was bearing kits, as some toms were apt to do, but she knew that might just be her experience with flighty, manipulative toms influencing her thinking. She didn't want to jump to conclusions.
