    Riley was watching her walk away and was about to turn away when she offered. He knew Julia's offer was a big step. She was about to lose her sister and yet she invited him to stand by her side. He smiled brightly and nodded his head before taking a few strides to catch up with Julia. He walked with her over to her sister and couldn't help but feel pleased as well as if he was imposing on their last moments together.


    Tessa was surprised as River pulled her around. She blushed lightly and couldn't help but lean into his body. She enjoyed the feeling of him beside her. Tessa wondered by what River meant but seeing Jacob's smile falter, she could tell it was a sore subject that Jacob didn't want to express. At Tori's question she gave a slight smile at the girl, who was trying very hard to help Tessa feel more comfortable. "I am going to be working as a guide in the City's gardens where I'll tell people about the plants and animals there." She explained


    Victoria gave his hand a squeeze, trying to tell him it's alright. Seeing the interaction between the two close friends or brothers, Tori yearned to feel that again but knew she couldn't think such thoughts. He made his decision and the government forbid them from ever saying anything after he made that decision. Tori still couldn't help but think of him though. She turned her attention to the other couple "So what jobs did you two get?" She asked them trying to mainly focus on making Tessa more comfortable.

    It wasn't hard to find Jewel, she was standing alone with her back to the wall, her arms crossed and her eyes down. She still hasn't shed a single tear. When she heard someone coming her way she picked up her head to see her sister and her match "Riley this is Jewel." Julia introduced them to each other, her sister flashing him a welcoming smile "it's so nice to meet you!" Despite finding out she was unmatched she still seemed so cheery, the obvious opposite of Julia.


    "And I'll be working in the steel yard as a welder." He said before looking down at Tessa, giving her a gentle squeeze, "maybe you'll end up seeing Jacob at work some time." He said with a smile.


    Jacob nodded slowly "I'll be working as a vet so I might do field runs." He explained

    OC: yep Tori's brother is Blake but they forced the family to take Tori's mom's maiden name when Blake decided to become an Unmatched


    Riley smiled at Jewel. "I'm Riley. It's very nice to meet you." He greeted with a smile on his face. He could see the similarities between the two. Though Jewel seemed a lot more outgoing than Julia. Riley wasn't all that sure if the government made the right option for the him but he trusted them.


    Tessa nodded. "We've had a few sick animals here and there when I was volunteering." She nodded before looking at Tori. She was very bright and bubbly it seemed but not over the top. She seemed very confident though and when she walked up to receive her match, her confidence didn't fall. Tori though looked a little lost in thought at the current moment though.


    Tori looked between the opposite pair. They were almost opposites. Tessa was shy, quiet, and loved easy but intelligent work while River was upbeat, outgoing and preferred hard, physical labor. She heard a train pulling up outside and knew within the next fifteen minutes the Unmatcheds would be leaving. In a way, Tori almost wanted to be unmatched so she could be with him but knew she shouldn't be thinking such thoughts. "So are you all eighteen?"

    Jewel and Julia had the same reaction at the sound of the train pulling up, standing up straighter, wider eyes. Jewel swallowed hard and tried to brush it off "I-I hope you'll take good care of her Riley." She said to him, her smile still there but this time it was a sad smile. Her hand reached out and grabbed hold of Julia's wrist, she pulled her sister to her and hugged her tight. When she let her go Julia was crying again, she didn't stand near Jewel though she actually took a few steps back to be beside Riley, her arm touching his. "Julia please be good okay? I know how you can get but, just try not to give him to much trouble." She murmured with a teasing smile before she looked back to Riley "I wish I would
    Be able to see you guys once your married, she's a fragile one Riley so just...be careful." She said before raising her hand and waving goodbye, going off to find her parents before leaving completely.


    For a moment Rivers thoughts were distracted by the sound of the train, her glanced around noticing only a few people who were crying, either family of an unmatched or unlucky enough to be unmatched. He frowned a bit, this could have been any of them. He snapped out of it at Tori's question, his fingers tracing patterns on Tessa's arm absentmindedly "I'm eighteen." He replied.


    Jacob nodded his head "yeah I've been hearing about it, luckily nothing had been to bad where they had to bring animals to the hospital." He said before glancing down too Tori, she looked lost in thought at the sound of the train, maybe someone she knew was an unmatched here? Or maybe she was just scared cause she thought she would be unmatched. He gave her a little squeeze of comfort before answering "I'm 18 also."

    "I promise I'll take car of her and protect her." He told Jewel while pulling Julia closer to him so he could wrap his arms around. He rubbed her arms in a way of comfort. "It's going to be okay." He promised her as Jukia cried. "You'll be alright, she will be alright. I'm sorry this is happening to you but you'll be stronger in the end because of it." He tried to reassure her but wasn't exactly sure what to say considering he never actually went through this.

    Tessa was watching the people crying and felt bad. Those poor families ripped apart and to never see each other again. Feeling River's fingers on her arm distracted her from these thoughts. "I'm 17, I'll be 18 in a little less than two months." She told Tori but Tori wasn't paying attention anymore. She noticed her glancing at a guy from across the room before looking at the crying families before she finally turned her attention back to the table. Tessa wondered why Victoria seemed so distracted.


    Blake held on to one of the bars in the train as it slowed to a stop. He hopped off and walked into the banquet hall. Since he had become an unmatched by choice, the government trusted him to help move the unmatcheds to the Unmatched quarter that the only way out was the train. He looked around and noticed to familiar people who were older. Mom and Dad. That meant Tori was here as well. His eyes narrowed on a particular table where she sat. Tori looked beautiful in her dress and he wished to see the bright smile she wore so well. He turned his narrowed eyes to the guy sitting next to her. He knew he was going to look creepy but continued to glare at the guy that was Tori's match.

    Tori saw Blake walk in and looked at the crying families before looking back at their table. She seemed concentrated on the table that she sat out. Tori didn't want to look because she knew she would be even more upset at him. Tori didn't understand why he left. He still had his family and left them just because a freaking girl died. They weren't even married! She stared angrily at the table before realizing that Tessa was talking. "Oh that's nice." Tori said distractedly

    Yeah sorry I'm getting so freakin busy at work and I'm going some things with a friend who I've liked for almost two years now and he almost killed himself the other night and it's just chaos right now but I'll get you a reply soon.

    Yeah so my parents are super pissed at me cause I'm quiting my job and they don't want to give me gas money and are flipping out on me and everything so the reply might take longer than I thought

    ((Yeah so that guy that I stopped from killing himself turned around and told me he wanted nothing to do with me anymore, that he just wanted to be alone and didn't even want me talking to him again after I told him how I felt about him...))


    For the first time Julia seemed to actually acknowledge Riley as a positive presence, she leaned into his body as he wrapped his arms around her when Jewel walked away. Her chest felt tight, it hurt but the feel of his arms around her helped rid of the pain just a bit.


    River could feel his heart rate pick up at Tessa's answer, in less than two months the pair would be wed. River glanced away, a bit uncomfortable with the thought since that would leave them with little to no time to get to know each other. When he looked back he noticed Tori looking a little upset, more mad than upset but he shrugged it off, it wasn't his issue.


    Jacob looked over at Tori with a slight frown, her angry face worried him a bit. He gently placed his finger under her chin to lift her head so her gaze would go to him "Tori what's wrong?" He asked softly, the hair on the back of his neck standing up as he got that feeling that someone was looking at him, he brushed it off.

    ((Oh baby girl! I'm so sorry! I know partially how it feels, it's very difficult. I'm so sorry honey. You can talk to me about it all, I understand what your going through and I promise I won't judge you in any way.))

    Riley couldn't help but feel pleased at the fact she leaned into him. Even at this bitter sweet moment, she was becoming closer to him. Even if it was only a little. He pressed his lips to the top of her head as another sign of comfort, much like his mother would do to him when he was upset.


    Tessa picked up on River's uneasiness and looked down shyly. She felt as if this was her fault without actually thinking all the way through. Majority of the matches that were not 18 would be turning 18 within 3 and a half months. Tessa saw Tori's anger and how she was trying to conceal it so asked her the same question. "When will you turn 18?"


    Tori's eyes widened and noticed Blake glaring at Jacob. She glared back, her lips pressed into a firm line before looking back into Jacob's eyes. "I'm fine." She almost growled but kept her temper. She took a deep breath before looking at Tessa. "I'll be 18 in ten days." Tori informed her

    ((I'm just so freakin upset cause I thought he would understand, I mean it's not like I expected him to have the same feelings right now especially after what he had gone through but I didn't think he'd just push me away and after all the things I've done for him! I quit my job to be with him to comfort him! I haven't been going to volleyball workouts so I can spend more time with him! Ugh I'm just so upset but like I can't find it in myself to be upset at him...))


    Julia didn't pull away from Riley, not even after she had stopped crying, she wiped her eyes and kept her head to his shoulder "I'm sorry." She murmured softly, her breath brushing against his neck as she spoke. Slowly her arms wrapped around his body so that she was hugging him.


    River noticed Tessa look down, with his arm around her he rubbed her side gently so that she would look back up, though she did look extremely cute when she was getting shy. God he just wanted to kiss her now despite the fact that they had to be married he couldn't help but wonder what would happen if he did. He stopped his thoughts, if something bad were to happen he wouldn't want it to effect her as well.


    Jacob frowned slightly, seeing her glare go past him but it was her response that had him frowning. He didn't like seeing her angry and withdrew his hand from her chin slowly and leaned back in his seat but still kept his other arm around her. His eyes flicked over to the side, scanning the area for just a moment before he gave up not wanting to be looking for to long to find who was upsetting Tori, she probably wouldn't like it if he stepped in.

    ((I understand completely. That's unfair to you, all you tried to do is help him and he is just pushing you away. My ex was suicidal last summer and I ended up so sick because I would always be worrying and staying up late to talk to him and make sure he didn't try to commit suicide. One night, I was on vacation in GA, and he called me and said he was going to do it. I was so scared that he would actually kill himself and I couldn't stop him. I know how you feel honey. They say that the best thing is to let those people go and let them sort their own lives out but in our hearts, we just can't do that. You feel responsible if anything happens to him and now instead of being able to help him, he just pushes you away.))


    He gave her a gentle and kind smile. "It's fine. I know you're upset. I can't blame you for being sad during this event." He reassured her while rubbing circles on her back. He felt bad this was the way they started their time together but Riley realized that right now Julia needed someone to hold her and comfort her. Riley being there for Julia would mean much more to her than just small talk between the two.

    ((But he knows I've gone through this too, for a different situation but I was ready to kill myself too, I know that to leave someone suicidal alone is a horrible mistake because they feel alone already, to give them proof they're alone just pushes them to the edge. I had been there and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here that's why I feel even more obliged to help him))


    His words only caused her arms to tighten around him, her eyes squeezing shut tightly before she relaxed her grip and opened her eyes "thank you." Her short worded responses was what she felt comfortable with, she wasn't used to giving someone a bit speech to talk about how she felt to her it wasn't needed, if she could convey her feelings in just a few words that she would

    Tessa felt the tingles of him touching her. She looked up to see something in his eyes.... Something Tessa couldn't read. Yet, she felt a burning desire to touch her lips to his. She pondered this for a moment, wondering where this emotion would have come from. This desire. Quickly she pushed the thoughts out of her head. They were unlawful and one sided by herself. They both would get in trouble if they kissed before their marriage, much less before she was 18!


    Tori knew that Jacob didn't believe her. She would tell him one day... maybe. She was not technically permitted to say anything to anyone such as a friend or neighbor but her match was much different. Victoria did appreciate the fact that Jacob didn't seem upset that they would most likely be married very soon. Days after her birthday, so like any eighteen year old, she would have time to get tested for the random different variables that contribute to their marriage and her age, such as her fertility. Then they would be given a date for marriage, pick her dress and location, and all the other things that go with marriage.

    When River noticed her looking at him he blushed fiercely, turning away slightly to look around the room again, finding Riley with his arms around his match. He wanted to call the boy over but he was to far to yell at, he had had a few classes with the boy in school and talked a few times and had gotten along pretty well.


    Jacob really didn't want to try and push her for an answer, if she told him she told him but he wasn't going to force an answer. He glanced over at her, wondering what it was she was thinking about, unaware that she had to go through more testing than he did before their marriage.

    ((I understand honey, but he just pushed you away. I honestly don't know how to face that because when I dealt with my ex, although he told me he wanted to be left alone, I texted him daily and one day he answered and began to talk to me.... Is there anyone else close to him that you know that can check up on him? At least so you know he is getting better?)


    Riley nodded and brushed a hair out of her face. "You're beautiful." He mummers out of nowhere, surprising himself. He didn't know where the thought came from or why he said it. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to announce that." He quickly added with a blush on his face. He was in thought when a whistle sounded the whole room and caused him to flinch at the noise. The guy up there seemed like a total jack@ss... Not that he would tell Julia that. Her sister was going to have to live with that guy. When he ordered everyone around, Riley had to roll his eyes. This guy was not Riley's type of guy for sure.


    Tessa noticed a girl looking upset and leaning into a guy who was currently blushing. She looked up at River, noticing he was blushing himself causing a small smile to creep onto her lips. In a daring move, unusual for Tessa, she grabbed his hand and interlocked her fingers with his. She blushed a bit at all the feelings now shooting through her and stirring something within Tessa that she couldn't explain. Tessa looked back up at River and felt a even stronger urge to kiss him right then and wondered if she could truthfully hold off until their wedding. The urge quickly went away as a tall male, with the same colored brown hair as Tori, walked up to the front of the room and gave a piercing whistle for everyone's attention. Tessa listened to him speaking and saw a resemblance that she couldn't quite put her finger on it.


    Blake, finally done glaring at his little sister's match and receiving glares from Vic herself, swaggered to the front. He saw how everyone was busy talking and making lots of noise so, from years of commanding people around noisy technology, let out a piercing whistle that caught everyone's attention. "I'm Blake. Congrats to all those matched today." He announced, not very enthusiastic. "May you all be happy." With this he narrowed his eyes at Jacob and Tori before continuing "I am one of the commanders for the Unmatcheds. Time for us to go as if get your @sses on the train in less than two or extra training on your first day." He barked out to the Unmatcheds. "Don't try to hide or leave because they have the doors blocked and we have a hand scanner to make sure all you get on the train. You'll be your belongings later. Now move!" He commanded hearing some sniffles and some blonde chick in the back full blown balling her eyes as she tries to look for an escape. She would not live through training.... He noticed evil looks from the government workers before he sighed. "The matches tonight may you always be happy and live with your perfect mate." He finished in a monotone. He looked at his parents whom seemed to look sad yet upset at him. Vic had a full blown glare at him and he raised his eyebrow at her, as if challenging her like when they were younger. I jumped off the stage and strolled over to near Tori's table, never making eye contact but as soon as he passed Jacob, within range that Jacob could hear him. "I will break you in half if you hurt her." Blake growled before strolling away as if nothing happened.


    Tori scowled and glared at her brother up there. She noticed he had become much more muscular since he left, probably due to the hard labor he faced in the Unmatched Sector. Tori's hands curled into fists as he just casually strolled around, as if he didn't leave his family, as if he didn't leave her. He didn't know how it felt for a twelve year old girl to lose her older brother who was her best friend. Someone that taught her some of her most important moments in life like how ride a bike or how to throw a football or how he created his own nickname for her 'Vic'. Then, not to be enough for him to stay. She could never forgive him for that. As he passed the table she thought she saw his lips move but didn't hear anything. Tori wanted to stand up and scream at him, throw silver wear and shoes at him. To yell and show him the pain she went through but instead she stayed calm and took a few deep breathes before unclenching her fists. She decided to focus on Jacob instead, as a way to distract herself.

    When Julia felt the tingles on her face as he moved her hair she picked up her head to look up at him, her cheeks a dark pink as he told her she was beautiful. She was just about to reach her hand up to touch his cheek, her mouth opening for her to speak but the sharp whistle caused her to jump, jump away from Riley with wide eyes. Her hands began to shake with fright as she looked down to the ground in embarrassment.


    River felt her soft skinned hands against his rough callused ounces and looked back at her quickly. She had such a mischievous smile on her lips causing him to crack a smile as well. With their fingers intertwined he brought their hands up, turned their hands and slowly touched his lips to her knuckles. He wanted to keep going, to let his lips travel up her arm and neck until they found hers but he couldn't, at least not here. Heading the sudden whistle didn't startle him, he was used to sudden loud noises. He wrapped his around around Tessa again but kept holding her hand as he listened to the @ss.


    Jacobs eyes narrowed at the guy as he began to talk just who was he to think he could look at him and Tori that way? Jacobs jaw clenched but he didn't move a muscle, at least, not until he walked by and spoke though it seemed only Jacob who sat at the end of the table could hear him. Jacobs body lurched forward as if he were about to jump out of his seat and go punch the guy but he stopped himself and remained seated, his entire body ridged, how dare he think he would hurt Tori!


    Jewel still hadn't shed a tear yet, not even as this loud and over bearing man told them it was time for the unmatched to leave. She sighed softly and made her way through some people in the way, past some people crying quietly and others sobbing. Jewels face was red from holding in her own tears. She followed towards the exit they were to go through, noticing Julia and Riley, now standing apart with Julia looking down and her hands shaking. She frowned at her sister, hoping Riley was a patient boy or else him and Julia would never work. She shook her head before finally leaving and getting on the train.
