  • What's up mods, admin, and any one else? Ok, I know this has been thrown around, and I know a lot of people have asked for it, so I'm going to put in an offical request that we be able to stop unwanted topics(topics we have stopped posting in, or are dropping out of for various reasons) to continue coming up in our Unread Replies.

Even if it involves blocking the topic completley, we can always unblock it, i.e. the Chat threads. You chat for a little while, and you get bored with it. But it continues coming up in your Unread replies. I can always block it, and if I want to chat in it again, all I have to do is unblock it! I just thought that presenting it like this would make it a lot easier on the programming it would involve, if you can make threads block-able objects, or something of the sort. That end is up to you, though :P

  • No, I do not agree with this. If there are thread you want to reply to, just bookmark them. :)

This would be giving normal members staff powers, which is my main concern. Second, many people will want to continue roleplaying and chatting. And this site is a community site, so we shouldn't cut people off just because one person no longer wants to post in that thread.

  • The reason they haven't done it is because it is near impossible, if it isn't completely. Besides that, even if it was, it would take way too much coding and way too much of the admin's time.

Besides, you can just bookmark the threads you would like to post in, and then un-bookmark them once you're bored with them and once you want to play in them again, just bookmark! :) Besides, as Cloud said, that would be giving normal members staff powers, which is a concern of mine too.

  • What staff powers? I don't mean closing threads in any way, I meant to say from YOU. As in, you block a thread, and YOU don't see it anymore on your unreplied threads. At any rate, even if we weren't to do that, there must be some other way. And even if it does take a while, for something this requested, wouldn't it be worth it to take a look?

  • It actually won't be worth it. Like I said, it's probably impossible, and if it was possible, which isn't really likely, it would take too much coding and wouldn't be worth doing in the end.

  • It wouldn't be impossible, but a very, very time consuming code. Plus, new graphics would be needed for it as well. Even I wouldn't put myself up to that. :/

  • Yes. The administrators would have a ton of work to do if you were to do that. Just try to work around the topics in your unread replues, and if you can't do that just bookmark the threads that your in. xD

  • Hold it, one minute please, everybody.

I totally agree people should be able to remove topics from their unread replies if they don't want them on there anymore. It's their account and their topic list, why shouldn't they be able to prune it however they want to?

I will go to SMF forum myself and ask how to do it, then when I have the answer I will bring it back to all of you.

As an aside, I'd love to do this too, I have over 600 topics on mine. :P

  • It shouldn't be hard, it seems like it would be a built in function to me. This isn't about actually deleting anything, just removing it from your personal list of subscriptions.

  • Well, if you need any help, I'll do what I can to help you out :D And if you can't do it, well, that's not too much of a problem. I don't exactly have six hundred topics in there :P

Thank you though, guys! I'm actually going to give the bookmarks a try, and see how much differently those work :D

  • I agree with Wynn. It would be nice to avoid the older posts if we can. I have alot that are very old, and I wouldn't mind. c:

  • That is only to remove emails, Wynn; not remove topics you have posted in from the Unread Topics. :)

  • Yeah, you guys have a sticky up saying that's how to get rid of e-mail notifs. I would think it would be a bit deeper than that. Perhaps in the way that Unread Replies are sent to the user? Somehow cut the user off from that thread constantly updating to UR?
