Her mother had always been an optimist. A loving, caring feline who wanted to keep the peace and wanted the best for her home. Filled with so much hope, so much faith that something would change things.
In the end, that had been what killed her. Too much praying and hoping- only acting at the very, very end. And for what end?
They used to tell her she was nothing but a pretty face. Just a piece of eye candy without the mental strength to lead. It had been Wolfgang that loved to tell her so. How her mother loved that old, incompetent tom until her last breath Miss would never understand- but she had believed him, for a time. It took them moons of hard work to finally, finally prove that females could be the real deal; the beauty and the brains. And it only took a few more moons for the rules to get taken down. The dark ages were over!
But if they'd told her, so long ago, that this was what it would all come to- she would have told Cerberus not to bother. Now there was no one left that knew her story, not the complete one. No one that knew what she'd done. After jumping ship, they'd all left her and Lady to rot here. And now Avorio was dead. The golden era had ended before it truly began.
Just recently, that dumb punk Mizu had challenged her. After all she'd done, they still doubted her. Yeah, so she tried to keep the mood light sometimes, but that was not an invitation to throw all semblance of some respect out the window. Apparently Miss Havisham still had things to prove to someone.
Wasn't that always the case? The calico snorted, swiping at a teacup. It had been so peaceful on that sunny tabletop. So pretty, delicate, frail. So many qualities, but none of them being intelligence. It was helpless as it was hurled to the ground, shattering into thousands of fragmented wishes. Beautiful, but deadly.
