    Clawberry gave Sallowflight a grin when he started to splash her. She attempted to splash him back, but he had already swam away from her. She chuckled and swam after him, but as soon as she got close to him, she heard the shriek. Her heart stopped and she froze, almost completely slipping under the water. Horror struck her face and she quickly splashed her way out of the water. Once she got on land, she didn't bother to dry off, she darted towards camp with one thought in her mind. No. He can't...No. was all she thought. Sallowflight was completely washed out of her mind after hearing the shriek.

    Jadevine froze for a moment when her daughter asked her. "I-I..." she stuttered looking to Stormclaw with embarrassment. She then snapped at Duskkit with a scold. "It's not nice to spy on other cats, Duskkit! That could get you in a lot of trouble!" she scolded. When Duskkit's emotions changed, it caught Jadevine off guard. Not only did having a blind kit was hard, but having a kit with quick emotion changes was even harder, especially since Gingerkit took care of Missingkit for her, but not with Duskkit. Duskkit was her responsibility. She walked slowly for Duskkit. "Gingerkit is around here somewhere and I know Russetkit is somewhere around here too." she told Duskkit. If she wasn't in such a good mood right, now she would've just blew Duskkit off with a scold, but today she was feeling nice.
    But everything changed when Lilacheart shrieked and her attention turned to Brambletalon who carried Reedstar's body on his back. Horror shot through her immediately. "Stormclaw, is that really.....No.." she breathed. She crept a little closer, forgetting Duskkit was on her back. "Brambletalon...how?" she grasped.

    Nettlesplash rolled his eyes, not believing the younger tomcat. He let out a sigh when the tomcat insisted on him taking him to camp. Nettlesplash stood up straight to look larger and nodded. "I'll take you to camp, but don't be expected to be welcomed." he mewed, with warning. He then started to walk in the direction of camp. "This way."

At first he didn't hear what the tom was saying, so he had started to walk over to ask the tom a question when he saw a body at the tom's paws. As soon as he realized who it was, Nightstride stopped in his tracks. Seeing that body, seeing who it was, seeing what that cat was, it was one of the most shocking things the tom had seen all day. This couldn't be. First Beeclaw, then Reedstar? It was impossible. It couldn't be real. As he listened to what the tom said, Nightstride was frozen in place. Who had done this? How did this happen? Was it that badger again? If so, Nightstride was going to kill it and rip it to shreds the moment he saw it.


    Maplefur had gone to say something when she suddenly heard a loud voice outside. When she looked outside the Nursery, the first thing she saw was her brother frozen in place where he stood, looking more shocked and scared than she had ever seen him before. Since her three kits were asleep, the Queen stood and peeked out of the den to see what he was looking at. When she saw Brambletalon she wasn't sure what was so shocking, but then she saw Reedstar's body. Her eyes got wide and even she looked scared. "Frostedwhisper, Jaypaw, Burningflame, look," she stated, pointing her muzzle and tail in the direction that she was looking.


    Right when he was about to toss the moss ball back and respond to Longkit, he heard a loud voice, that sounded more like a screech, coming from behind me. When he turned and looked, he saw the body of the cat that had announced him joining. That same cat had gave him his new name. He didn't completely remember the Leader's name, but he knew who the cat was. He then looked towards Longkit and back to Reedstar.

    Lionpaw, before anything else, caught sight of Sparrowpaw. He smiled to the tomcat and took a few steps closer to the tom, but still being near Missingkit. He was about to greet his Clanmate when he saw Sparrowpaw freeze, staring at something. He cocked his head and looked in that direction. Before his very eyes, Lionpaw caught a glimpse of Reedstar's body. He wasn't breathing. A bubble caught in Lionpaw's throat, just as probably every other cat in the Clan. He froze too. "How....? was the only thing he could force out of his mouth. Tears swelled in his eyes.

    At the screech, Longkit's ears flattened to his skull as his maw parted—pearly whites showing. "Is that—is that, Reedstar?"     Sallowflight chuckled as Clawberry also tried to splash him. He really enjoyed having her chase her in the river. Sallowflight heard the shriek also from Lilacheart and noticed that Clawberry was having trouble swimming as she started drowning underwater. Oh no! I will save you Clawberry. shrieked Sallowflight in his mind as he swam fast in her direction but she already was on dry land soaking wet. When he appeared right beside her, she was running towards the shrieking noise. Its all my fault because I should've been right beside her, protecting Clawberry instead of playing that useless game. Sallowflight caught up with Clawberry and saw Reedstar' s body.

    Ravenheart lost concentration from chatting with Goldenpoppy when he heard yowls from Lilacheart as Bramblethron carried Reedstar' s dead body to camp. He started crying uncontrollably by hearing that Reedstar his own brother who was Ravenheart' s own relative was dead. Ravenheart ran to the direction of Bramblethorn and crouched down to his body while crying into his fur."Nooo.. he.. can't be dead." sobbed Ravenheart. Ravenheart decided to have the first vigil for Reedstar. It was very heartbreaking and depressing for this to happen to him.

    Juniperleap padded away from Blackrose as she was getting annoyed with all the yowls and screams from her Clanmates. I could care less if any of my clanmates are dead, it wasn't like I knew them anyway.     Longkit was trembling in utter horror, unable to tear his gaze from Reedstar's body. Hornetfire's voice sounded as if it was coming from a distance, and ebony spots began to swim in the corner of the kits vision. He had never seen wounds like that; Leopardspring hadn't allowed him to go out and see the deceased apprentice earlier. She had kept him in the nursery until the apprentice had been buried, and then she had taken him out.




    But this.. this was more horrifying than Longkit could ever imagine in his wildest dreams. He had seen some of the scars that marred his mothers beautiful pelt, but he always thought nothing of it due to the fact that those wounds had long since been healed. Seeing his leaders body in this way made his heart feel as if it was in his throat. "I can walk to the nursery on my own." He rasped out as he turned away, ears still pinned to his skull.




    Each step felt heavy, weighted down with the sight that he couldn't banish from his mind. Longkit was usually pretty resilient, but this.. this was too much. Squeezing inside of the nursery, he slipped into his nest—where Leopardspring's scent was pooled and her spot was still warm—and curled up, staring blankly at the nursery wall. Swallowing hardly, the kit tried to block out the sound of the Clan mourning, paws moving to press against his ears.

    Watching all the cats beginning to gather around the Leader's body, Nightstride couldn't move. Even when the gray she-cat had came over to him and started crying, he didn't move or respond. How could this have happened? How did Beepaw get killed one day and Reedstar get killed the next? Was this suppose to mean something? Was something after their clan or was this all just a coincidence? There were to many questions rushing through his mind, even more than there were when Reedstar left and the clan went into full action mode. For once in a life time the tom wanted to cry, but now wasn't the time to do so. If the clan saw the cat in charge crying there would be even more panic than there already was. So, not even noticing Lilacheart or hearing what she said, the black tom stood and walked over to the Leader's body, his eyes full of sorrow and is body even more limp than normal. Honestly, any cat would think that Nightstride didn't look like his normal self at all. Normally he was trying to look strong and wise so he could help others, but now he looked like a weak, old cat who had no care in the world and was lost in their own little world full of sorrow.


    Never once had Maplefur seen her brother like this, or any of the cats that were crying as they were. Ravenheart, Lilacheart, Goldenpoppy, Clawberry. So many cats suddenly broke down all at once, just a feeling of sadness quickly overwhelming the camp. Ears going down and her eyes going down to the ground, the Queen felt the need to go over and mourn, but she didn't want to leave her kits alone in the Nursery. So, she silently whispered a prayer to Starclan.

No kit should be seeing this. he thought to himself. He saw Duskkit going into the nursery, that was for the best. He carried Longkit inside and plopped him down near Leopardspring(?). "Longkit, listen to me. Reedstar is alive, just not with us. I know you see all those cats crying and grieving, but I want you to stay strong. I know it's hard and I know how frightening this all may be for you, but I want you to close your eyes. Think of Reedstar.     Missingkit took the lead without hesitation, her tiny ears pricked. As she walked, the unusually small, calico kitten placed one paw a second before any other to sense where she was going. "Do you think Tawnybriar would be in the warriors den?" she asked Lionpaw, turning her head in his direction for a moment.




    When a cat rushed into camp, calling out that Reedstar was dead, Missingkit's ears folded back. The small kitten wasn't sure how he died, and that other must not have either. The small kitten backed up a little bit until she bumped into Lionpaw. As she did, Missingkit jumped back with a barely audible yelp.
