~~it's a talent that's taken years to master, trust me cx~~

so after writing hundreds of frustrating personas, i've just recently settled on a tactic that works(at least for me)! i get the character's core adjectives and expand upon them instead of just diving right into a description without direction. i think it's easier to write about one thing at a time, and then you can mash it all together afterwards!

like this persona that i wrote for my character marcus;
[spoiler]NATURAL LEADER- Marcus was truly born and raised to have the position of Sovereign. He took the position in stride and has never looked back to a lower position since. Leading just comes naturally to him and powerful positions run through his blood, so stepping up to become Sovereign was no issue for him. He's able to bring order and cease chaos with a few words and even a single look at times can silence a crowd. However, this primal instinct to rule does not warp his persona into something vile and conceited - at least it hasn't quite yet.

CALM- Marcus isn't very jumpy, nor is he terribly excitable. He's always pretty content and relaxed, which is a pretty good quality in a leader. He's able to keep his cool when things go awry and handle stressful situations without cracking. He refuses to show anyone that he isn't closely confiding in anything but his collected side. Behind closed doors, the man is a whole other story but he's generally very calm-looking and sounding. Sometimes he actually comes off as so calm that he appears disinterested and dejected, so if you come to him with exciting news don't be offended if he shrugs you off with a half-smile.

SMOOTH- Marcus is charismatic but mainly in the way that slowly and subtly charms you. He's a smooth talker and is able to divert a conversation with minimal blips. When unexpected things arise, he's easily able to cover for whatever/whoever needs and can be a wonderful diversion. You almost never see him at a loss for words and stuttering(or back tracking) isn't something he does often. And if you do see him fumbling with his words, then congratulations you've found a topic stunning enough to shock the man.

TWO SIDES TO ONE COIN- On the opposite side of our glorious and composed leader happens to be a scarier side, one that should have you praying to keep locked away. Once you get him mad, which usually takes quite a bit of pent up aggression, a new, darker man arises from the formalities. Marcus can be cruel and sadistic when he puts his mind to it and isn't going to shy away from bringing pain upon those who piss him off. When he gets angry, it's almost as if an impossible switch is flipped and it can prove to be quite hard to flip back into its previous position. It can take a lot to bring him down from an enraged state, so beware that your ruler can be a lot less kind if he wishes.

DETERMINED- Once Marcus has an idea in his head, there is no swaying him and he will get his thought fulfilled if it kills him. Whether he wants an extension built onto a room, or if he wants to send the wrath of his army down upon another nation, his will shall be done. Now, this may sound bad as if it's lined with evil intent but Marcus is naturally good. Most of the time he isn't terribly pushy with big things like the aforementioned army strike anyhow. His mind is just geared towards getting things that he thinks will prove helpful done at whatever cost.

She's not necessarily depressed, and she has never resorted to something that physically harms herself. She's independent, but honestly, I doubt that she trusts herself. While she thinks her appearance is fine, maybe it's just the burden of her history, teasing her so much that it starts mentally killing her. She's killed so many, and how can you argue with the facts? She shouldn't be in what's practically a torture camp, she should be in therapy.

Pardon my french ~~even though it's english~~, but it describes her pretty perfectly. She taught herself how to handle a knife before she could tell you the alphabet, living it rough kind of makes it so you push yourself to learn how to survive. At a young age she was never interested in make-up or the barbie dolls, only in street-fighting which her parents, like good parents, found a bit worrying. She knows how to kick some butt, and she has for most of her life. Those years have made her tough and intelligent, and she can be more than a bit intimidating after she's cut you up enough.

People see her on the streets and usually think, oh look, she's so kawaii! She couldn't possibly be dangerous, right? Wrong. No, no, no. Do not get stuck in this mind frame unless you wan't a dagger lodged in your back. Just because she's a little asian girl with an adorable face does not mean she won't leave you crumpled up and bloody.

cunning
Some people are so naive, it's really not that difficult to manipulate them. Yuki's intelligent, witty, and if she even bothers to talk to you then she knows exactly what to say to you. She's clever and strategic, you may think that you met her by chance and everything that's happened since that is also unplanned, but trust me, she's been plotting for weeks, playing every situation in her head.

reserved
She separates herself from others, and even if you think you know her, than you don't, she doesn't let people live long enough to get close to her. She just doesn't.

inquisitive
Yuki is a curious person by nature, she wants to know everything she possibly can, especially since she needs as much background knowledge as possible about her victim to get a clean death with no questions asked. She plans things out based on what she knows about someone, what places they go to, their jobs, their friend groups, every bit of information is vital.

insecure
She doesn't allow it to show though, but there has to be a root as to why she kills. She used to be teased, which is what sparked her love of fighting, the power of holding a gun brings her confidence. Maybe she's vengeful, and she can react to far on her feelings, but in her eyes they were the ones to laugh at her and she needs their blood on her hands.

Reserved and observant - Even though she tends to be mysterious and quiet, she's very calm when it comes to a tough situation and easily give a resolution to the problem. [ INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITY ] Ben's an enigmatic creature and his personality fluctuates from grim and sarcastic, to light and full of wit. His pitched and lilting tone usually suggests that he's excited and optimistic, but he's truly a pessimistic realist with a gloomy personality. It's just sort of natural that he lives in a gloomy state of mind. There is not an ounce of optimism within his small being. He's a fantastic listener and is wise beyond his years, so don't think he's not paying attention to you even if he looks disengaged. He's not one to make friends easily at all, and he'll literally try his damndest to bite your head off if you try and get close to him. He likes to hurt people and will burn the shit out of your ego, pride, and self image if you try anything with him.

He's something akin to a Cheshire cat, reels you in with his mystery, charisma, and bright colors, but once he's got you trapped in, out comes that wicked grin and persona. He's genuinely a psychopath, doesn't have many feelings, doesn't have a high regard for others, and doesn't care what you think or have to say.

[ OUTLOOK ON SELF ] Sum, much like her personality, has numerous outlooks on herself. Depending on her mood, and how many pills she's taken that day, she ranges from finding herself the hottest girl on earth, to the worlds most lowly piece of rat trash EVER. Without her voices bothering her, though? She is bold, and loves the way she looks. She works very hard on her appearance, and tries to keep herself majorly sexy.

[ INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITY ] Sum by herself is brilliant, and as loyal and vicious as a junk yard dog. When she finds the people she runs with, she sticks with them. Till the end. Be that end her own gory, horrid downfall, or joyous retirement. Hot-headed, and brutal, she isn't one to get in a fight with. She fights the voices in her head: Every. Single. Day, and doesn't think she'll ever stop. There is nothing you can throw at her that she hasn't already heard in one way or another.

Usually bold, and friendly, Summer likes to meet new people. She is usually the charmer of the crowds she chooses to hang out with and is someone you feel like you can easily trust and or open up to. She has a way of infiltrating people like they're sheep, and dragging them from the herd one. by. one.Along with being friendly, she's nosy, but Sum has mastered the art of being a snoop. Much like Nancy Drew, she can get information out of virtually anyone and be gone. This friendly, nosy attitude is usually how she pulls her victims into place.

Negativity, and witty sarcastic comebacks usually make up her speech patterns. She doesn't usually butt into conversations unless she has something rude or teasingly mean to say. She's like the dark cloud that destroys children's birthday parties, which, if she gets the chance, she will. With the voices in her head, or out for the day, making people miserable seems to be one of Summer's strong points.

I'd hate to be her enemy.

Summer has high highs, and low lows. Her emotions are usually a roller coaster of insanity. Some day's are better than other's, and Miss Blackmen seems almost normal, until the medication wears off. Some day's she isn't even herself, she's someone else in her body. Someone brutal. Someone disgusting. Someone who likes to cut other's up into tiny, tiny little pieces. Members of her crew still wonder whether it was Summer whom took this job, or the voices whom did it for her. What they do know is, whomever did it, she's stuck here now.

[ VOICES ] 5 in total, some of Summer's voices are the bane of her existence, others are rather helpful. She has named them all (usually something stupid, and or derogatory), and each when they're out cause her speech patterns to become slightly altered.

I. Schizo de Bizzo: Nicknamed "The Biz": The Biz is what most of her teammates think signed her up to be a part of this crew. The Biz seems mostly male in personality, but has it's moments. Usually dominant over Summer's own personality even on medication, the Biz can force her to do things she would never dream of doing. EASILY. When the Biz comes out Summer gets much louder, much more commanding, and on point, flat out, evil.

II. Fukher: Nicknamed "The Tramp": Fukher is the second voice of Summer Blackmen's. A voice that makes her far more sexual than she normally is. Summer hates The Tramp personality most out of all of them, but is glad that this one is easily suppressed. Fukher is a personality that seems to work for The Biz, guiding victims through dirty se.x into her maliciously killing arms. The Tramp's voice is usually higher-pitched, slower, and much hotter.

III. Silence: Nicknamed "Tods": Tods, being short for Toddler, usually only comes out at night. Silence isn't so much as a personality, but a lack of being there in general. (As if all personalities have clocked out for the night.) Tods will come, and Summer will simply sit in the corner, and stare, occasionally drool on herself, not sleep, not move, not eat, until Tods is gone. The longest Silence has been in her body is two days, four hours and twenty minutes.

IV. Bi.tch Wrecker: Nicknamed "Heartfelt": Heartfelt is the only personality that Summer has that physically tries to destroy her. Heartfelt usually only comes out if is Summer is horridly depressed, or lonely. Heartfelt is known to cause flashbacks, and to change Summers voice to a loud raging tone. Heartfelt usually only speaks aloud, but to Summer directly, trying to physically and mentally harm her in any way possible.

V. The Sense: Nicknamed "ICU": ICU is the sidekick to The Biz, being more of a half personality to help it out. ICU is the highest intelligence that Summer can reach, and usually can work out any problem given to it. ICU is female, like most of Summer's personalities (minus the Biz) and is much quieter than the other personalities (minus Tods.) Her speech patterns are usually awkward, and a stutter is presented.
