[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]time travel is been a normal thing nowadays. in the year 3064, robotic organisms are being made. mankind had made robotic achievements long before this, but these organisms are a different story. or, should i say, this organism is a different story. only one was made, and only one will be made. the perfect being; made from the strongest, yet lightest metal, it is completely indestructible. the only way to stop this machine is with a pass code spoken to it. once this word is spoken, though, it can never be activated again unless it is rebuilt once more from scratch. the thing that makes this machine so advanced? its power source.
pumped "blood" flows through hoses inside the skeleton. this "blood" is simply an advanced type of oil, making sure each part of this complex machine is working properly. powering movement, sight, and every other action is a human brain, using the oil from the heart like it was blood inside of a human. it is the most intelligent, strongest, and best creation mankind has ever conceived. except for one, itty, bitty problem.
because of his human brain, this organism has the ability to process emotions. and, as such, these emotions are confusing to this robot, and often clouds his judgment in simple things like whether or not he should go left or right. however, despite this, it is cold and emotionless on the outside. but on the inside it is a hurricane of confusing metal, complicated wiring, and bewildering feelings. what's more, it has to blend in with society now.
that's right. this robot was sent back in time to learn how to rid himself of emotions, taking on the appearance of a twenty-seven-year-old man. equipped with eternally soft hair, scruffy facial hair, hairless skin, and convincing, but not fully-functioning reproductive organs, no one would assume he was anything inhuman. he knows everything there is to know about everything. well, most everything. emotions, social life, and how to act human are things he has no idea about. there was another reason he was sent back in time; not just to learn how to get rid of emotions.
enter your character; a woman who seems to not care about much of anything. she seems to be nothing short of a party-animal, always hanging out with the wrong crowd, being involved in drugs, violence, and sex. on the inside, though, she is devastatingly lonely. she has the body and looks of a model, but nobody seems to look past that. what's more, she is the most intelligent person on the planet.
she had been working on a new device, something that would change the world forever. however, this device would lead to the near-extinction of the human race in the future. so, operation z.e.r.0 was sent back in time to try and learn about the device. despite the devastation the device had caused in the future, it would also be the key to unlocking the interstellar travel; and the colonization of other planets. despite the near-death of all humanity, this device, coming from the mind of a bikini-ready young woman would lead to the greatest future history had ever seen.
when this young woman is walking one night, she gets jumped. normally, she wouldn't care all that much; she gets approached all the time. however, this group of men has the intent to do her harm. besides that, she is holding her device, which is just being begun. as the men of the group are wrestling to get her out of her clothing, another man walks up. not realizing that this man was not one of their friends, they offer this newcomer a knife, telling him to cut off her clothing, as she lashes out at them too much for them to get anywhere close. fearing the worst at the sight of this large man, the woman gives up. however, he does something different.
taking his knife, he stabs the nearest man in the neck.
before anyone can comprehend anything, the newcomer has killed all but one of the group. the remaining male brandishes a baseball bat, and the woman watches as the man with the knife has a baseball bat broken over his head, the bat snapping in half, without even flinching. it doesn't take long for the last man to be dead.
the woman has always been able to sense others; their state of mind, their presence, their emotions. however, when it comes to this large man, she can't sense anything. intrigued by this quiet man, she takes the hand offered to him. a quick scan of her confirms that the woman is the woman he needs to protect; other time travelers want the device she has for themselves, and they'll do anything to get it.
explaining all this, the woman doesn't believe him at first, but she soon grows to accept his story, after remembering that the baseball bat was shattered over his skull; something that could never have happened with a normal human.
and so, operation z.e.r.0 is taken into her home. however, in exchange for learning how the device works, she gets whatever reward from him that she wishes. that reward, is his promise that he will never leave. at first, he is conflicted. his mission is to retrieve the information and go back to the future. though, as time goes on and he learns more and more about being a human, he finds it harder and harder to leave this woman whom he's grown so fond of.
but what happens when the pass code to his destruction is leaked out, and the future of her device is also learned? can he finish his mission, and save both his own life, but the life of the woman he adores as well? or will he refuse, knowing the threat that he could be destroyed and get her killed as well?

( well. now that your eyes are bleeding; that's all the plot i have. sorry this is so long and complicated. anyway, in short, this is a story about a robot who goes back in time to learn about a device being built by your character, a young woman. he is powered by a human heart and brain, and can feel emotions, though has no idea how any of them work. your character is lonely, but covers it up by doing drugs and pretty much doing anything that keeps her mind off of it. one night, yours gets mugged and is wrestling to keep her clothes on, trying to protect both her body and the device in her jacket. the robot, my character, kills four of the five men. the last man hits a baseball bat of the robot's head; which shatters without my character flinching. after the last man is dead, the robot helps your character up, then explains everything to her. she doesn't believe him at first, but soon does and offers a place to stay. he accepts and he begins to learn about her machine. in exchange, she's made him promise not to leave her. of course, he accepts, since it's the only way she show him the device, though he soon finds it harder and harder to leave her when the time is coming. blah blah blah, people learn his code that can kill him, and he is torn between saving both of their lives, but leaving her and breaking his promise, or staying and risk both of them.

    yep. that's all i got!

so, i just have a few rules

BE ADVANCED. more than four paragraphs. low muse is understandable, but i will not accept a single paragraph; unless the circumstances are very great.
TRY AND BE ACTIVE. post more than twice a day if you can.
DO NOT KISS AND DISS. it is unbelievably rude and i will be incredibly sad and depressed.
TRY AND FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES I SET FOR YOUR CHARACTER. if you want to change some things about her personality, go ahead. though she HAS to have the device. anything else can be worked out between you and me.

that's all the rules i can think of! i'll write the first post when someone joins! all i want in your first ic post is a picture, name, age ( must be between 21 and 26 ), and then your post!

    thanks for joining!

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]how odd it was that humans were able to process and justify so many feelings...
as i sat on the cold, uncomfortable, smooth chair, i stared at my hand; nothing more than smooth, hard plastic-like material encasing wiring, metal bone-work, and oil supplies. the plastic split off in some places, anywhere that bent on my arm wasn't covered in the plastic—this gave the moving joint more mobility. a loud beeping sound from my right made me stand, and i nodded to the ground of men who approached me. they held a device i had come to know as a camouflager, though this particular one was different; this would make me appear and feel wholly human. i stayed still, the plastic, metal frame work being covered by an odd material that made me feel like rubbing it. a deep tanned color was slowly covering the plastic, and i grew anxious. this wasn't who i was... i was a cybernetic organism, i was not meant to look human. however, i stayed still, staring past the men's heads as i would covered in the squishy material.
    - ( timeskipping ) -
as i walked down the street, i ran my fingertips along my arm, marveling at the feeling. was this was all human skin felt like? this was a substitute, i knew that, but it... it felt so alien to me... it was deeply tanned to a dark caramel color, so that the black exoskeleton wouldn't be seen form underneath. if it had been any shade lighter, i would have been tinted black. the humans camouflaging me told me that i would looked like a hispanic man; or at least have the skin tone of one. maybe a bit lighter, i couldn't tell. i'd never seen hispanics before.
my attention turned from my arm to the streets again. it was nighttime and very quiet. this was a large city, but not many people were around this particular part of the city. i did a quick, mental scan, the pupils of my humanoid eyes turning red as i turned the world into a sort of three-dimensional vector. where was the device? my vision zoomed on a sole figure, hunching over a bit. it zoomed even further to see a small chip; the chip inside the device. i quickly got the coordinates of where the figure was, my pupil returned to being black and i started forward, my walk brisk and heavy.
as i neared where the coordinates were, i paused, looking around. there was no one here... i heard scuffling and my attention turned towards the sound, my head tilted ever so slightly. mayhaps those people could aid me in my search? nearing the corner of the building from whence i heard the shuffling, i peeked around, but soon stopped and narrowed my eyes.
a woman was being pulled into the alley, a group of five men sneering and spitting harsh words, calling her things that i had never heard, but sounded insulting. she did not seem to be having fun, despite how one of the men asked if she was having fun. they began to wrestle with her, pulling at her clothes, though she lashed out violently, striking anyone who got within range of her hands. my head tilted a bit more. my pupil faded back to red and i observed the males. all wanted criminals. their status, aggressive. intentions, maleficent. she was definitely not having fun.
as my pupil returned to being black, i approached the group. without looking at me, the man closest to me handed me a knife. "get her clothes off, will ya?" he grinned, his tobacco-rotted teeth looking like they could fall out at any minute. i took the knife, admiring the way the blade was so cold underneath my fingers. a quick glance down at the woman confirmed her mood. very unhappy. i took the knife, held it perpendicular to my arm, then stabbed it through the man's neck.
it didn't take the other men long for them to notice something was wrong. the gargling, choking sounds the first male made had them all standing in a flash. and, just as quickly, i had twisted the knife, stepping forward once to reach the other men; killing three more with each step i took. the last one backed away form me and held a baseball bat. my head tilted a bit and i watched him carefully, intrigued. the man screeched and ran towards me, raising the bat.
with a sickening crack, the bat hit my head, but i didn't so much as blink. the wood splintered and broke, and he was left holding only what his meaty, fleshy hands were touching. he looked at me as though i was a monster, though i soon silenced his look of terror by placing the blade of the knife in his heart. he fell to the ground as well and i blinked.
turning, i looked at the woman. my pupil faded back into its crimson color and i scanned her. the device was in her jacket, that was why she hunched as she ran. the pupil returned to normal and i offered my hand to her, my face emotionless.

( bleh. this was a bad start. sorry!

    //Thanks! c:

It was once again, the time to celebrate the constant reminder of being alone. That would have horrified me when I was younger, but this certainly didn't seem unordinary at this point of my life. The sight of the city seemed quite beautiful from my apartment room I have been living in since I was 19 years old. The apartment building in itself was rotting down, and the land lord seemed very keen to see me every time it came to paying rent. I rolled my eyes at the thought and retreated away from my window, heading to my closet to find an outfit. My closet had quite the variety. There were clothes from other guys I have had sex with, and than others were the clothes I would wear to look decent in public. And than my daily outfits hanged in the middle. I smiled at the mini skirts, tank tops, long and tight fitting dresses that always got me somebody for the night. A small smirk came upon my lips as I grabbed one of my favorites and took it out, spinning around slightly as I reach my mirror to observe myself in it.
    {Time skipping}
Tonight was a big night. Even though my flower shop wasn't having much action to it, my national television show job as an assistant surely gave me something to do. One of my fellow co-workers asked me to be his guest for dinner tonight, which was odd for him but I couldn't pass on such an opportunity. I wouldn't be alone tonight and he was a friend of mine from all the other druggies I hanged out with. I had dressed to impress, but not in what most people might think. My light brown long coat covered the black, elbow length sleeves with a bare back opening and reaching below her knees. The black heels I wore clicked with every step I took towards my co-worker's house. He also was the only one who knew how smart I was. I couldn't help but block that fact until I began having an idea. This idea involved the possibility of travelling across the universe. This would change the world, and I knew it. I had done my research and began to figure out the mechanics and systems I would need to build such a thing when I came up with this small device I had in my coat. I chuckled slightly when a thought crossed my mind at the people in my school's that would say 'When would we need this?'. Well, I needed everything right now. I checked the time on my watch before growing wide eyed. I better get to the house before I was late. I began running, making sure the device didn't fall out or slipped out somehow.
It was quite the beautiful night, the sky being clear from clouds as the stars sparkled up above at the moon shining. Than suddenly a hand clasped around my mouth from behind. My blue electrifying eyes shot open wide, my hands intinctively going over my mouth to remove the mouth. Than a familiar voice reached my ears of a guy from a bar I met once. Oh god, why now? I began to struggle to get out of his grip until he had four little friends come along. The sight of them began to bring fear to my heart, and the fear was evident in my eyes. I struggled more as they began dragging my down an alley. The alley wasn't the cleanest place in the world, having garbage disposal everywhere, a stray cat here and there and a few puddles of water. It was dark in those places, and I didn't like this idea of dark places with people dragging me. I bit the person's hand with my teeth, hoping to have a way to run off. He had let me go, but his friends dragged me to the alleyway, taking my hand bag that I carried. Well, damn. I just lost 30 bucks today.
"Okay! Let me go, already! You have all the money I have on me." I exclaimed, galring at the guys as they kept touching my coat. I would hit away the hand, or even bite at it. My long blonde hair seemed to be flying around and getting messy as I tried to keep in check all of the guys around me. Suddenly they began pulling at my clothes and than thoughts began crossing my mind. Please tell me you don't want anything more than money. Please! I began lashing out violently, trying to get away from the guys and keeping my little device safe. If this broke, I would have to start all over again and it was already hard to find the materials needed to make this box.
Than one of the guys asked me if I was having fun. I rolled my eyes and spat at him which earned me a super tug at my coat. My caot nearly opened up and I slapped him across the face. God, why couldn't they just hire a hooker to satisfy their needs? They corned me in a corner and began touching me. I kicked and trashed, punched and slapped anything that tried to touch me. I shouted at them to stop it and to leave me the hell alone. As they continued with their insults at me and how they wanted me, I couldn't notice any exchange of words between the new guy who appeared and the obvious leader. When I felt something wet hit my arm, I looked up in a slight confusion until I gasped and my eyes went wide with fear as the new guy killed the leader.
A killer, great. What a wonderful combination to be stuck in. The other guys looked at him and were going to attack before the new guy killed them all. I wasn't sure if I should be happy or scared out of my mind as I slowly retreated as much as possible. Than the last remaining man had a bat. If this man was good, than he better be pretty damn strong to go up against a baseball bat. I watched slightly as I began my way out of the alleyway before the sickening sound of something cracking and breaking made me stop in my steps and gasps loudly, putting my hands over my mouth to try and control myself. I couldn't process what was going on but at the sight of the new guy now flinching at all at the contact of the baseball bat and actually breaking it made her scared. The thought of her device crossed her mind as she instinctively tightened her coat around her and kept her hands where the device was. I was going to run off until the man turned to look at me.
My body froze in place, my eyes staying as wide as they were when they saw the first man being killed. His eyes turned a crimson color and simply looked me over as if he was checking me out or something. I never prayed before, but this would probably be a good time to do so if I wanted to live. When his eyes turned back to normal, he offered me his hand while his face seemed to hold no emotion. Wait, was that even possible? I knew how most people felt, and in these moments they would have at least some sort of expression on his face. Maybe shock, empathy, sympathy. Something! Instead, his face was nothing but blank. I looked between his hand and his face before I took a step back.
"What the hell are you?" I demanded, looking at him. The fear was obvious in my eyes, but I demanded an answer. It had to be given to me now. If this man was a patient who escaped the mental hospital, I would have to worry about running away right now. It wasn't until now that I realize how cold I was and a few rips on my coat caused by the disgusting guys who attacked me. I hated when it suddenly got cold at night. It would usually cause shivers to run up my spine. That was not what I needed at the moment.

    [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]she didn't take my hand...
what was i supposed to do now? my initial plan would be that she thanked me, took my hand, and would agree to my plan of protection and knowledge. however, she seemed like she was not going to take my hand any time soon. my fingers curled inwards, forming a loose, slightly awkward fist. what was i supposed to do? in my time, everyone knew who i was; i was a national hero. when i did something, it was well-known. oh! how silly of me to think i would be known, over a thousand years in the past. time travel was still a loose idea in an insomniac's head. dammit, i should have known. i should have come up with another plan of action.
i looked around, trying to comprehend what to do. i raised my fingers, uncurling them and tapping my fingertips together. i suddenly missed the sound of the plastic beneath this skin substitute clacking together. i suddenly missed a lot of thing; the entire future was something i missed. the simplistic things that made up the world, the kindness that was shown by every human... the way that crime no longer existed was another good thing. people in the future knew that, if you committed a crime, you would have to speak with me. and nobody wanted to speak with me if you were in trouble.
finally, i turned around, walking to the opposite side of the alley. there was a cemented-up window behind me, and underneath it was a forgotten box of plants. flowers. tulips to be more exact. all even of the flowers were wilting and crispy and made a pleasant sound when i touched them, however, i picked the only live one, trying to get her to understand my peaceful approach. the flower was white with red lines that looked like stretch marks. over all, it was quite the attractive flower.
i turned back around and offered it to her, looking from her eyes to the flower, back to her eyes, down to the flower, then back at her eyes again. they were such a pleasant shade of blue. oh! i should probably introduce myself! there was no sense in simply hoping she would accept this flower. i wouldn't mind if she let me keep it, though, i liked the way the stem felt.
"i am operation z-e-r-0," my voice was low, deep, grizzled, and monotonic, as i had no experience with talking with emotions. though, when i heard it myself, i felt like changing it so it sounded more human, though i had no idea of how i would achieve that... "i am a cybernetic organism from the year 3064, when time travel is a common practice. that device you have in your pocket of your jacket, it is involved in interstellar travel, yes? unlocking secrets that only people could have dreamed of before. in the future, your device is responsible for great things, such as the time travel i am here account of. however, it caused quite the drawbacks in the year 2049, and nearly brought the end of the world.
"i am here because of that device. i do not wish to take it from you, and i am certainly not her to do you harm. i am here to protect you, actually. your device will be the key for unlocking not only interstellar travel, but also further colonization of other planets."

i paused for a moment. what was i forgetting? i've told her everything except... ah! of course! my own problems. "i was engineered with some of the most complex human organs; a human brain powering my movement and perception of the world, and a human heart, allowing oil to be pumped to my metal exoskeleton. however, i had begun to develop a conscious idea of what human emotions are like. this... occurrence is not good; as i cannot afford to be making decisions on my moral sense of right and wrong; i am programmed to make decisions on orders. and, as such, i and here to not only protect you, learn about your device, and ensure that it is completed, but also to learn how to rid myself of human emotions."
i paused again, looking at her. i wasn't human, but i could tell she was an attractive individual. it made me uncomfortable to think about what those men were doing to her; and when i had been told to cut her clothes off... i couldn't imagine being the cause of something so humiliating as revealing a woman's naked body.
"you are unharmed? do you require medical assistance?" my pupil turned red again as i scanned her. physical condition, unharmed. mental condition, unknown. emotional condition, also unknown. how odd it was i couldn't foresee her mental and emotion conditions. it was quite chilly. i stripped off my jacket and offered it to her, but didn't wait for her to take it. instead, i stepped forward and draped it over her shoulders, glancing at her neck to search for wounds to her jugulars, just in case my synopsis had been wrong.

I simply watched him as he curled up his hand and began thinking. What was he thinking about? He seems confused, or maybe flustered? God, this guy was good when it came to his emotions. Maybe he was a cold hearted killer or a mentally sick person. I stayed there to see what would happen, getting slightly curious myself. It was like he was a child, trying to figure out what he did wrong. The sound of metal clicking together got my attention and I thought it was a simple wire hitting one of the ladders from a building around them or something. Maybe a tapping on the window or something. I looked up slightly to see what it was but it seemed like there was nothing happening. Weird, but what was weirder was that the guy before me decided to get a flower. I looked at it as he approached me with it and held it out, instantly recognizing. A tulip, how sweet. The person growing these must love these flowers if they have it at their window. Or maybe it was just a decoration.
I couldn't help but notice how much he keep looking at my eyes, I furrowed my eyes in slight confusion, as I tilted my head slightly to see what he would say. I wasn't about to say anything until he answered my question. What came up next was the most creative, creepy, and unbeliveable thing ever. He had answered my question, but he flung too much information at me. I stood there in complete silence, my face giving off the expression of disbelief, and slight amusement. My arms were crossed across my chest as he began to explain his story. What caught me was when he mentioned my device.
"How did you-" I was cut off as he continued explaining, and my eyes were looking at him in confusment and shock. How did he know about my device? He couldn't have been stalking me. Or maybe he broke into her house? Maybe he heard her talk about it while she had coffee with her friend? What she didn't understand even more was how he was talking about the future and how her device has to be finished so they can time travel in the future. Colonizing planets. Oh, that was a dream of hers. To be able to settle down on a planet one day. Maybe Jupiter, or if possible Neptune! Pluto wasn't a planet anymore, for sure but the thought of being there is kind of nice. I had to shake my head slightly, to get rid of that idea. This man was talking crazy at this point! The pause came, and I couldn't wait to ask a few questions before he answered one question.
I looked at him, blinking my eyes as he described how he was 'made'. My eyes were wide and my arms were folded in front of me. He began asking questions about how I felt, and this was quite the question.
"Look, dude, I think you are suffering from some of your brain cells being killed because of that hit to your head. You need to go to the doctors. Unless, you can check those organs of yours. I'm sure the Tin Man would like to have a pair of those." She began, watching his gaze go through her body to see about any harm to her. She didn't like that. It was creeping her out a bit. "Thank you for saving me, really! I don't know what would have happened if you didn't came to my..rescue." She said, hesitating to say the word rescue. God, it made her seem so weak. Like a damsel in distress. She never liked such things.
I think he noticed about the cold in the air as he took off his jacket to cover her. I have to admit, he was quite attractive, with the facial hair and sharp bone structure. Was he a model? He could be one, that is for sure! I expected him to offer it like he did with the flower, which I didn't accept, but instead he placed it on me. I flintched away slightly before I took it, realizing the warmness that was inside. I was going to thank him before I caught him looking at my neck/ collar bone area. I furrowed my brows and stepped to the side, away from him.
"What are you doing?" I asked, keeping the jacket close to me to keep myself warm. My blonde hair flipped to the side slightly, the long hair being on my shoulder with the curls staying its beautiful self throughout the whole fighting.

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]tin man? how rude! i wasn't made of tin! she began insulting my mental sanity and i frowned, looking at the ground. how utterly foolish of me to think she would actually believe my story... though... i had no idea as to how i could make her believe it. she had seen the baseball bat broken over my head, a feat that could not have been accomplished without damage to my person as well... i could peel back the skin substitute covering my arm? perhaps that would convince her. oh, but the only knife i had was covered in human blood, and i wasn't sure if the skin would repair itself. oh, wait. yes it would. it was a type of living substance; the second it recognized a tear, all i would have to do it pinch the two ends of the tear together and it would mend itself. ah! that sould be the road to her belief!
she jerked away from me and asked what i was doing. i was... checking her over for wounds... oh, right. how foolish of me! i was making mistakes all over right now! i was a strange man, in an alleyway, with a woman who had almost been exposed and violated. of course she was anxious around me! that, and she had seen me kill other humans; five or six in total. i couldn't quite remember, nor did i want to look to count the bodies. okay, what could i do...
"i... apologize... i was checking for injuries on your jugular; as the jugular is one of the main, and largest blood supplies. an injury or puncture to the jugular would certainly mean you would bleed out if not treated swiftly," i informed her, though didn't step towards her again. i was out of ideas... normally, i could simply say something and anyone hearing it would agree. but, this female... she did not agree.
which, of course, was an odd thing in and of itself. i didn't understand her way of thinking; and i was confused as to why i could not read her mental-emotional status. that would tell me her current mood, and her overall mood; personality, would be another word to describe mental-emotional. how could i convince her that i was truly who i said i was?
my attention turned to the baseball bat and i picked it up, well, as many pieced as i could. it seemed to have shattered like glass upon contact with my hard, metal skeleton. i cradled the shattered wood in my hands before offering her to look. maybe.. maybe if i started pointing out details she might not have registered, then she would believe me?
"this baseball bat is made from solid oak wood. with the force with which it struck me, it would not have shattered. instead, if being hit against a human skull, the skull would have been damaged. but, as you can see, there is no damage to my skull, and the bat, which was made of a substance that is strong enough to shatter a thin bone like the skull, has been shattered, as though made of glass."
i turned my head, showing her where the bat had hit. not a single scratch on my skull. "if i am lying about being made of a strong metal skeleton, then i should have sustained damage to, not only my skull, but the skin covering it as well. and yet there is no such wound..." i couldn't think of anything else, so i simply dropped the pieces of the bat on the ground, my heart feeling like it was sinking lower into my skeleton.
"if you do not believe my story, then i am afraid i have no other ideas of how i could convince you... i am sure you are most shaken up from the events prior to this conversation... but i am telling the truth, and my mission is to do as i have said; protect you, learn of your device, ensure it is completed. if you do not believe me, then not only will i fail this mission, but we may never experience interstellar or other such travel."

I raised an eyebrow at him at his reaction to my words. Was he..offended? I turned towards him slightly, and than placed a hand over my neck as he began to explain what he was doing. He was quite the smart fellow, that was for sure. I furrowed my brows and put my hand down, pulling the jacket closer.

I watched as he began gathering the wood around him from the shattered baseball bat. I couldn't help but be slightly fascinated as he explained about how it would have killed him, or hurt him if he was hit with the baseball bat in a fully human body. I looked at him and what was left in my expression was astonishment. This man was serious. He showed me where the wound should have been on his head. I couldn't help but want to reach over and touch the area to see how it felt. Was it like my skin, smooth and healthy? Or spikey? Than he retreated as he began to explain about my belief in him.

I stayed quiet for a moment, looking at him. The whole situation seemed surreal to me at the moment, and logically a human person would have run at this point and screamed if they saw what I saw. But..He knew his science, and the physics and Biology of a person. Than the thought of being lonely came to me. He was willingly to be around me, to protect me. Wow, I haven't had that since I was 12 years old. I rubbed my forehead slightly, looking down as I thought about the next move to do.

"Alright, let's say that in this circumstance this is all real and I am not high or drunk or asleep." She began, putting her hand back in the jacket and looking up at the man slightly. This was a slight improvement from running away, that was for sure. She looked at him and hesitated before, taking a deep breath and stepped back towards him. "How are you so sure that my device, out of all the devices in the world, will accomplish such things?" I asked, looking at him. I wanted to know this. It might not be her device that gets people to travel across the universe. It would be some other person's. How is it that the people from the future knew about me, the simple girl with no family left and is like the single lady with cats all over her house? Generally, she never liked cats but it was a way to express how she was feeling.

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]she was beginning to sway in her ideas. good! well, i didn't want to manipulate her into thinking what i wanted her to think, but her saying she believed me—albeit somewhat was still a start—made me smile, though i felt an odd feeling in my heart which made me want to scratch it. happiness, perhaps? or maybe it was relief? whatever it was, i felt as though something had lifted from my shoulders. she believed me, and that was all that mattered right now. even if she was simply going along; i had a feeling she would begin to believe me as time went on.
alright, let's see. how did i know that her device was the reason for such oddities? well, for one, the micro-processing chip in the device was unlike any super computer could ever use for its processing unit. another thing is that, what with her intelligence, she would be able to think of and calculate some great things to add into her device.
"your choice of a core processing unit for your device is a powerful one; stronger than the memory or other such functions that are present in quantum computers; which is one of the most complicated theories in time as of now. your intelligence is great perceived, as you have chosen such a processing unit, to be much higher than any individual on this planet, and, as such, you should have no trouble in coming up with ways to better your device. even in the future, people are still shrouded in mystery as to how time travel works; the man who invented it died before he could explain anything other than how to work his machines."
i kept my eyes as locked with hers as much as i could; eye contact was not only important, but i enjoyed looking at her eyes. they were a stunning shade of blue and almost seemed to glow in this night air. however, i seemed to recall that not many people found eye contact to be stimulating, unless the eye contact was professional and used only in classroom or business situations. i was not one of those who thought of eye contact as a burden; i found it easy. though, it might have had something to do with my inability to understand why humans found it so awkward.
"i can assure you that, in return for allowing me to learn of your device, i will not only give you my full protection, but also anything else you could desire, if it means you will finish your production. be is sustenance for your person, or objects for your device; as of now, i am under your control."

I couldn't help but smile back at him, the corner of my pink lips curling up to a soft smile. At least he seemed happy she was considering her idea. If he wasn't, I would have given him hell until the day I finished this device that got me this robotic human looking person in the first place. It seemed like he was going to be a good man, human man that is, if he began learning about emotions and the way of normal people. Wouldn't there be a program for such thing? With all the psychological experts in the world they would be able to come up with a program for a robot to live life like a human. Wait, was I already accepting the fact he was a robot from the future? Well, the future part didn't quite fit in yet but a robot certainly seemed like it.

As he began talking about my device and my choice in software and programming, I couldn't help but feel a bit honored. Wow, he knew I was more than a good looking person. There was a slight little pinch to my chest, that I never felt before. I think I was proud of myself, or flattered. I smiled a bit more as a small blush crept up my cheeks. I felt around for her device before I had the familiar squared object cupped in my hands. Finally I was being recognized for something other than her looks. I couldn't keep my gaze away from his eyes, since it seemed they always followed hers.

"Well, you already know me pretty well and my device. If you have learnt things in the psychological areas, than I'm sure you would have guessed some parts of my life at this point for sure." I stated with a smile. "But yes, I find it easier to use such programming. Great things can't be made without a challenge here and there." I explained.

Eye contact wasn't something new to her, it happened a lot to her in daily life. At work, at clubs. This just wasn't the same look. It was sort of...friendly in a way. I didn't know this look but it might be quite common in his way of doing things. I simply continued with it, just so I could get use to it. Than he began telling me about how he would do something in return of learning with her. A thought crossed my mind and I couldn't help but actually consider it.

Such a lonely lady needed companion at some point in her life. I was about to speak but at the thought, I shook her head. The doubt was increasing by the minute. Maybe if I got to know this person, and maybe he could help me if he is that intelligent. A small smirk of an idea came upon my lips as I got ready to walk. "Say, if you are going to help me and learn from making this device, might as well be in the place where it was created." I said as she beckoned him to follow. "Look, I really doubt you have any cash on you and you will need a place to rest while you protect from who knows what. You can stay at my apartment, but I do have a few rules!" I exclaimed, walking towards the road where I came from before I was mugged. I couldn't help but feel like I was inviting a stalker into my house but this man was intelligent, as intelligent as her even. He could definitely help her finish this device in no time. [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]i was unbelievably happy. i supposed you could call this feeling happiness. relief didn't so much fit in the category, the more i thought about it. i've always found it odd, how i was a machine, but i used words like thought instead of computed. i was a machine in every sense of the word, though i talked in my head like i as a human. well, as human as i could speak. my voice was slowly, but surely, becoming less and less monotonic the more i spoke with her. the more i was around humans, the more i acted like them.
when she spoke about a programming giving me human emotions, i simply shook my head. i didn't speak until she was completely finished, though i panicked a bit when she began to exit the alley and walk away form me. a bit startled, i lurched forward, following after her. i still had the flower between my finger pads. like i said, i enjoyed the feeling.
"despite the advanced programming i have undergone to make me seem more human, there is no programming that will naturally fit me with working human emotions. my brain was supposed to be rid of emotions, but they had miscalculated which area of the brain to alter to destroy those feelings. i can still feel them, though i cannot identify them," i stepped around a man, sleeping on the sidewalk, looking down at him as i passed. i didn't comment, though. perhaps that was normal.
"however, as i do have a human brain, i am capable to learn. though my mission is to rid myself of human emotions, i would like to at least experience them first. and, as i have a human brain, i am able to learn things as though i am a human growing up. emotions, intelligence, and other such commodities are things i was not initially programmed with," i informed her, rolling the stem of the flower between my fingers, looking over at her. i smiled a bit when she said i did not have the necessary cash to acquire her the parts she needed. i assumed cash meant some type of currency. dollars, if my knowledge was correct, in the united states. there were only about six different bills if i weren't mistaken.
"my model is the only one of its kind, and i can assure you i can be very persuasive when it comes to achieving goals. furthermore, i have a deposit of extra gold in my chest cavity; to help conduct electricity and draw it towards my body in the event that someone's life is at stake of electrocution. i'm aware that gold is a highly valued metal these days; we can extract it from my being and exchange it for currency. i can always have a different electro-conducive metal in place of the gold," it was true. i'd been built so that, in case of some sort of electrical emergency, all electricity would be drawn to me so that humans could escape unscathed.

Now, he seemed more human. That would be a relief to me, since living with an emotionless but intelligent mechanical human looking robot would have made me mad at some point of this encounter. I heard him explain about how they weren't able to remove his emotions, continuing on my way when we passed by a homeless man. God, I felt bad for these people. If I had my pursue and my money, which was left behind, I would have certainly given him some money to buy food tomorrow. I sighed slightly before he finished his explanation.
"Well, it would be understandable why it would be difficult. Emotions are in the Limbic system in the brain. To get rid of that, you are basically going to have to get rid of everything else. Emotions defines your personality. Personality defines your actions. Actions define you as a person. It's what makes the human brain, a human." I stated, looking over at him, as he explained about his desires for his programming. "Than in sorts, you are like Frankenstein but mechanical version. What you need to learn, is that to experience all those emotions, you would have to go through so many things." I explained, turning the corner and continued on my way.
I listened patiently as he explained his way of currency. I had to admit that this was quite surprising. The future really thought about everything when creating him. If scientists tried to make him today, we would definitely make so many errors. Then it occurred to me how they didn't think about my time. My time would probably think I'm rich or I'm a criminal with all this money he makes popping up! I would have to find a way to disguise this money and have a reasonable explanation to it.
"I will have to find a way to use your money without seeming like a criminal. We actually have quite a lot of things to think about to explain your presence here." She stated, reaching her apartment building and unlocking the door. "Do you have a name I can call you other than operation z.e.r.0?" I asked, opening the door and heading inside

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]what a quiant little house. i grew more and more interested with this female the more i was around her. she didn't seem to be so scared around me, and that made me very pleased. if she was no longer unhappy, then that meant i could continue with my mission, and proceed with helping her achieve her goals! my biggest pleasure would be seeing her machine in working order, though. and i would not stop until i saw that. and i would gladly be destroyed beyond repair if it meant she finished her work, safe and sound.
she spoke about the money. if she needed to buy things, then people would get suspicious with the amount of money she had acquired. ah, i had come up with a plan in record time! i mentally gave myself what the humans call a 'high-five' and smiled a bit more, stepping inside of her house politely. as she opened the door and was expecting me to follow, i had decided not to wait for permission. i rolled the stem between my fingers again.
"i do believe i have a plan to solve your currency issues. as i have no official birth certificate, i could manufacture one, put it in the database. i could easily make myself into that of a man who owns a gold farm or some other such plant to acquire these riches," i informed her. it was true; i could make myself a birth certificate, make myself an id, which all humans had to identify themselves, and turn in the gold. they may become a bit suspicious, yes, but if they looked me up, they would see that i grew up in some environment with many gold deposits. that, or i could give them a history of how my family has passed this gold down for generations. and, if worse came to worse, i could forcefully take the items i needed.
"if any plan i come up with, or that you can think of, does not work in the end, i can always forcefully take the items you need," i reminded her, holding the tulip now with all of my fingers, pressing the tips together and eyeing the inside of the flower. what a beautiful creation. about my name... hmm. what could i call myself? or, rather, what could she call me? "any name you can think of in public is fine, though, when we are alone, i prefer to simply be called 'zero', as it seems fitting."

"Wow, you can do that?" I asked, impressed. The future seemed so much more than this dump of a place. She chuckled at her thoughts about the future, and the way the media showed it. Either is was sparkly white with advanced technology, or it was a living hell with lots of dictators.
"Well, aren't you prepared for everything?" She remarked, smiling over at him before she got to her third floor, where her apartment laid. "I would be scared if I were the guys trying to get this device with you here." She stated, always making sure he was following her. In her mind, it felt like none of this was real. It felt like she was in one of those messed up dreams she would occasionally have, which made her seem important for once in her life. At the end, she would always wake up in her bed alone, or with a stranger.
Emily thought for a moment as he gave her the option to call him whatever name in public. "How about Adam? Or maybe Leo!" She began, laughing a bit at her own attempt to name something. She was horrible with names, and she didn't even know what name she would call her pet if she had one, less a person. "I'll call you Zero when it's just you and me." She said, smiling as she unlocked her door and went inside her apartment.
It wasn't too large or too small. Just about right. Her bedroom was off to the side, the door being shut so it wouldn't reveal the messy table of parts and the messy bed she has yet to make. The living room was small, but that was normal for an apartment. The Television was set up on a furniture that was made of wood, with the shelves under it being filled with books of all sorts. Nobody really ever noticed them, since they were too occupied with her. The kitchen was right beside the door, leaving very little space for the person to not see it. That certain area was made of tile floors in case of food or oil landing on the ground. She never minded, since she liked tile floors better than carpet. Emily took the step in and took her shoes off to not get the carpet dirty, putting them to the side where there was tile. She stepped to the side and held the door open for him, putting a hand out to open her apartment up a bit.
"Welcome to my lovely apartment! I ask that you take off your shoes and put them there." She said, mentioning to where she placed her own shoes.

i tilted my head. adam? leo? those did not sound like the names i had been called. zero, operation, major, scout, and yew. those were the names i was familiar with, and those were the names i could respond to readily if someone called them. i would have trouble to remember that my name was adam, and thus would most likely not turn my head and pay attention when that name was called. common names were not a good idea to place in my head, as i would become confused and think that another's name was being called.
"those are very common names, emily," i said. oh. from her physical scan, i learned her name. oh! perhaps she would not be very quaint to know i learned her name. very quickly, i added, "a physical scan i did in the alley showed your name was emily; hence my eyes turning red. may i call you emily?" i looked around her apartment, smiling a bit. oh! a bookcase! how lovely. she instructed me to take my shoes off and i did so, looking down at the socks i had been gifted. i tilted my head and bent down, rubbing my fingertips across the fabric. interesting. i stood back up and looked at her, stepping away from the door.
"as i was saying, adam and leo are common names. despite my intelligence, i would most likely forget my name was adam and thus be putting you in danger if you ever were to call that name," i watched her, enjoying her eyes as i did in the alley. they were much brighter in the light of her house. my own irises were a pale onyx, though they brightened and glittered whenever i smiled. like now; i tilted my head and smiled.
"as z.e.r.0. is a complicated name, i have other names i am aware of. major, scout, and yew. any of those would trigger a response in my brain and i would act quicker. they all stimulate the same response, so whatever of those you choose to call me would be fine," i said, then looked back over at the bookcase. "may i look at your books?" i asked. at this point, she was somewhat of my operator. i was to do as she told me without hesitation or questioning; unless i knew it to be dangerous.

My blue eyes sparkled slightly with the light, as a natural effect. I took off his jacket that he offered me earlier and went grabbed the device from the pocket of my coat, putting it in my room quickly. "Is there anything else you know about me that I should know about?" She asked questioning, getting slightly intriged.
As I walked, I thought about the names he said he responded to and smiled. "Well, I think I'll call you Scout! It reminds me of Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird. Ever read that book?" She asked as she opened the door slightly to let her slim figure through the door and place the device on a table where she did her working. When she returned seconds later, the door was closed once again and her coat was hung on the coat hanger. Her dress, which was meant for a dinner, seemed to compliment her figure dearly, as the blackness gave her a certain vibe of mystery. The way she moved seemed as if she was gliding instead of walking.
She was slightly surprised when he asked about her little library. She smiled slightly, a genuine smile of happiness and mentioned towards it. "Go ahead! Give me your opinion on my choice of reading." She said, chuckling as she went to her kitchen to get a glass of water. She would ask him what he drinks, but judging by the way he described his organs, he would drink oil or maybe water with oil. She would have to decide that later on, but she was thirsty, and not to forget hungry as well.
Her book collection mainly consisted of books about the outer space travels towards other planets, and the mechanics and mathematics used to build the aircraft to support it in the air. Than a few child books like the fairytales of Beauty and the Beast and Ariel were there, with a collection of Grimm Brother books as well. Than Stephen King would appear, only two books. They were naturally horror, as the authour specialized in those only, but it seemed more odd than the rest. The other science books and history books, along with the occasional mythological book would be in there. It seemed like every genre was there. Only a single book was different, and that was because it was just a little small journal, that was the most recently opened book. Nobody ever touched it, and it seemed like nobody would ever will other than Emily herself.

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width: 485px; height: 150px; overflow: auto;][justify]i smiled again. scout. an excellent choice. i enjoyed the way she said it as well. with a small step, i paused a bit. what more did i know about her? not much. i can only tell her physical attributes; as well as some things in the computers. her address, martial status, age, name, phone number, birth date and other such things. "i am able to tell everything about you that has been recorded in a computer. you name, age, martial status, birth date, and phone number are some examples, though i would have to continually scan you to remember all that information. as i do not want to pry, i simply looked at your name and age; leaving the rest of your personal information personal," i answered honestly, moving to her book case.
"i have never personally read to kill a mockingbird, but i am able to recite it, as i am with most books you can access online; which is quite a large amount in the future. a little asset for if children wanted to be told a story," i informed her, looking through her books. i sat on the ground, putting the tulip on the floor next to me and running my eyes over the novels. what an interesting selection... my eyes paused at what seemed to be a journal. however, if it was a journal, then i dared not read it until she gave me permission. curiosity be damned until then.
instead, i settled for a book on shuttle-craft physics and opened it, beginning to look through it. anything i saw in books, i remembered quite well. i would say perfectly, but i seem to only remember text perfectly. pictures and diagrams seen in books are fuzzy and not as clear as the words are. she stepped back into the room and i looked up at her, blinking. i had known she was in a dress from what i saw in the alleyway, though i did not look out of privacy; her dress was somewhat revealing and, from the position the men had her in the alleyway, it would be most piggish if i had 'snuck a look' as one of the men said.
my head tilted to the side and i eyed her dress, a slow smile making my eyes glitter again. "you look absolutely stunning in that dress, emily. you had plans to go somewhere, i can tell. i hope i had not caused you to be late or miss a special occasion," i broke my gaze from her beautiful person and looked back at the book, flipping the page. staring was rude and i would not want her to think that i was like one of those men in the alleyway; wanting to stare and touch her body. while she was quite the gorgeous woman, i had... no experience with actually acting upon seeing attractive women. "whoever you were going to see is lucky to be able to see such a woman as yourself in such nice, form-fitting clothing."

That was quite the relief, since learning more about me through files would have been horrible. Anybody who found out about my past would have easily felt pity, and pity was the last thing I needed in her life at this moment. "They install that all in your system?" I asked, sitting down in one of the kitchen chairs and drinking her water. It was quite perfect, temperature wise. Just enough to feel a good feeling. "That's pretty cool! We don't have that type of technology, even though it will probably change judging that you are here right now." I stated, watching as he looked over my books. His eyes stopped at my journal and my heart seemed to skip a beat. Don't touch it, please. When he continued on looking and grabbed a different book, the sense of relief flooded over me. I would have to move that book into my room later tomorrow just so he doesn't look through it.
Not that I didn't trust him but I was always wary about things that I didn't want to be seen, like my device. Thinking at his answer to her question about the book, she smiled slightly and laid her chin on her hand. I tilted her head as well. "You should read the book. Reciting is an impressive talent but reading it is better." I began. I tapped her head slightly, continuing to talk. "It lets your imagination go wild." I said. "I'm sure you have an imagination, since you have a human brain and emotions." I insisted, taking another sip of my water and placing it down.
It wasn't until now that I realized about my dinner date. I felt bad for standing her friend up but after what happened, he would surely understand at work tomorrow. Wait, work. I had work. And maybe if Zero left, I would never see him again until who knows when. I took a deep quiet breath and nodded, smiling slightly.
"Well, he was a friend of mines. Actually, I was going to talk to him about my device. He's a close friend and I can trust him to understand my intelligence." I said, giving him a reassuring smile. Oh, the smiles a person can give someone. They could mean so many things. "And it's alright. He would understand if he heard the story. Well, most of it. I would have to leave out the part of you being a robot of sorts and stuff." I added. I looked down at my dress and the feeling of confidence always came to my. It wasn't like I didn't feel pretty when not wearing a dress but it helped. I smiled at him slightly and nodded. "Thanks." She thanked, finishing her water. "Would you like something to drink?" She asked, mentioning to her cup a bit.
