MapleFall took her group of cats to the camp. "What are your names?" She growled lightly to them, slowly wandering into the camp. All eyes fixed on the group of loners. Murmurs spread through the audience of cats watching like wildfire. "Your names." she repeated.

Maplefall sighed. "Thank you." With a grunt, she added in a low tone of voice, "Last time some cat brought a loner they practically had to scream to get their name..." "Spiritstar," she called. A silvery blue tabby cat emerged from her den. "This better be important, Maplefa- WHO are they, and what are they doing in my Clan?" she growled. Last time there had been a loner brought to camp, her father had died. She would not let any cats into her Clan without a fight.

"Spiritstar, please!" cried Maplefall. Spiritstar's pupils grew and her entire eye grew soft. "I-I.." she whispered, petrified. Clearly she thought of Maplefall as a daughter. Maplefall winced. She knew she was messing with Spiritstar's memory, when Blazetail had brought a loner to camp, who had later killed Fossilclaw, Spiritstar's father. "Spiritstar, please. They will not hurt us!" yowled Maplefall. Spiritstar stiffened and shuddered. A tear threatened to fall and glistened in the corner of her eye. Memories were messing with her temper. A large audience of cats had gathered around them. "Keep them!" shouted one voice eagerly. "Kill them, or we will share similar fates to Fossilclaw!" shrieked another. In a matter of seconds, an uproar was caused. Spiritstar looked down to see a small kit tugging at her paw. "Umm. Spiritstar? Perhaps they could do the blood truce. My- My mother had said that you poke a scratch in their paw and yours' and shake paws. Then, if they fail to keep the promise, they are banished." whispered the kit frantically. Spiritstar looked at her. Poor Lightkit, without a mother since the badger attack. "We have made a decision!" yowled the leader, stepping onto the BlackStone. "Every cat in the group of loners that wish to stay must be required to participate in a blood truce." Her voice rang out in the confused silence that lay in the air. "If they fail to keep their part, they will be either executed or banished."

"Then is has been settled." Spiritstar meowed, jumping down to the cats below her. Eye to eye with Waspfang, Spiritstar cautiously pricked her right paw with her curved, left claw. Beads of scarlet drops of blood formed around her soft pad. Suddenly, she stiffened. Not Now, Not Now. she thought. Being a somewhat, supernatural, they called it, Spiritstar was no normal cat. She couldn't fly, or see through things, but when she was scared, angry, or upset, or in this case, all, her appearance seemed to change. Her pelt darkened, her eyes sparked and her pupils went from round to slits. Her claws curved even more. Even without her weird "power," Spiritstar's claws were already unnaturally curved.

Maplefall breathed somewhat heavily in the tension. Spiritstar was making peace with strangers. That hadn't happened since the rogue attack. She noticed some of the cats around her looked stiff and scared. Following their gaze, Maplefall realized they were staring, worriedly scared, at Spiritstar. Maplefall's eyes widened. She looked terrifying. Her normal, silvery pelt had vanished and turned a low shade of gray with black, tabby stripes. Her eyes burned into Waspfang's, her claws on the ground stabbed into the soft, solid earth. Maplefall winced and, in the tension, watched eagerly to see what would happen next.

Spiritstar's appearance came to a close and her silvery pelt returned. She took the offer of his bloody paw.

Spiritstar wearily looked at all the other loners. This will take a while. she thought, holding out her paw.

Spiritstar glanced at her own paw. The bead of blood was still there, but it was dry. With a wince, she sliced off the scab-like dab of fry blood. New, scarlet and crimson shades of red dribbled out.

Spiritstar nodded in return. She licked her paw clean, smearing blood over it a little. She blinked. Looking at the moon, she sighed. It was already going down. "We ought go to sleep. Tomorrow will be along day." called the leader.
