Pestilence’s disease was spreading, and Lady knew it would only get worse. If everyone was going to be hit by the symptoms like Remilia was, in a fit of pain and fear, how on Earth would the Skulls recover? That was kind of thing that could end a Clan.
Avorio had been ill for a few days now. With each second, the headaches grew worse and the sudden onsets of paranoia more frequent. The femme was in the forest now, drawing the remains of her most recent panic attack from her mind.
She sat under the canopy of Elarilly’s tree. The wolf had not spoken to her since the beginning of the prophecy, but by this time, Lady had worked out its meaning. Surely almost all her Skullmates had a suspicion by now. After all, ‘Fire’s Blood’ wasn’t difficult to decode.
The fire-colored feline looked up at the only shrivelled branch of the tree. It belonged to Rexas, the evil twin, if you will.
‘I worked it out,’ Avorio meowed, voice tinged with an edge of confidence. ‘So what are you waiting for, huh? Kill me and leave my Clan alone.’
‘Oh, you mean Rexas? No, no. He isn’t going to kill you. I might, though,’ a cold, smooth voice said from behind her. The femme whipped round to see a cat, tall and muscular, but moving with a serpentine flow.
‘Who the hell are you supposed to be?’ Lady growled, azure visionaries suddenly like shards of ice.
‘Death. The horseman,’ the dark feline shrugged nonchalantly.
Avorio didn’t break her threatening glare, despite that, apparently, it was Death himself she faced. ‘If you kill me, will it save my Clan?’
‘You know, you really ought to stop referring to it that way. You don’t lead anymore. The Clan isn’t yours.’ Death rolled his emerald eyes. [b]‘But to answer your question, yes. Good old Rexas has a thing against the Skulls. He seems to think killing the leader, or ex leader now, would be a fun way to take out his frustration. Really, he’s just a bratty teenager. Anyway yes; you die, apocalypse ends.’
‘Then do it.’
‘Kill you?’
‘Kill me.’
‘That’s it? No big final speech? A dying wish maybe?’
‘ You’ll let my daughter and my husband live long, happy lives,’ the bronze femme said it as more of a command than a wish.
‘Well, I’ll have to have a talk with Fate about that,’ Death smiled coldly. ‘Problem is, she’s not one for change. Anyway, I’ve got places to be, apocalypses to end…’
The horseman vanished then, and in the shade of Elarilly’s tree, Lady Avorio was swallowed by a never-ending darkness. Dead.
//Wow.
I don’t even know what to feel right now.
I’ve been playing Lady for over a year and a half. After having a character for that long, it definitely becomes part of who you are. I know that’s true in my case.
I always knew that Avorio would die in the Skulls, since, and I’m sure you would agree, I feel like she would never consider leaving her Clan. It also meant that she could have an ending instead of just being left to inactivity.
It’s going to be strange, I imagine, logging on the site and not going straight over to the Skulls like I’ve been doing for more than eighteen months straight XD
Before I finish this altogether though, I ought to say thank you to everyone I’ve ever roleplayed with in the Skulls (I would list you all, but there’s a heck of a lot of you) because you guys are the reason I stayed so long. I loved every moment of my time here.
Hopefully I’ll run into some of you again (you’re all freaking awesome). I’m in the Blackheart Rogues if you ever want to find me ![]()
Anyway, peace out, Skulls <3
