The long-furred brown tabby shot a disinterred look at his new apprentice, Berrypaw. Not only did he remind him of deathberries, and how his "mate" had had blasted kits with him, then dying from eating berries, but also it reminded him how SunClan was always full of hopeful young apprentices dying to please. Bleh. It made him sick.
However, Berrypaw didn't seem too disappointed. At least he hadn't got a killer as a mentor, just a senior warrior who was a grouch. Or a grinch. Berrypaw would tell Ratch so later maybe, if he got the chance. His eyes looked up at Ratch, but he did not admire him nor like him, he was just alright. A 'sufficient' mentor, though he would have preferred to hang around the medicine cat den, instead of around this creep.
"Alright," said Ratch, his amber eyes rolling, in his usual dismissive manner, "You wanna be a warrior right?"
"Not really. I'd much rather help cats survive than kill them." Berrypaw said, his blue eyes staring hard into the senior tom's.
"Tough," replied Ratch, in a tone that could have been a growl, "You are learning with me. Not a medicine cat."
"You really don't like me, do you?" questioned Berrypaw, his stare intense now. This Ratch had annoyed him enough.
"Not really." he said back carelessly. "You annoy me."
"Then why don't we do a deal? I hate you and you stay as far away from me as you possibly can." Berrypaw growled harshly.
"Fine with me. But you don't want to be a handsome warrior?" he smirked at the grey apprentice.
"I'm not like you." Berrypaw snarled and walked away.
"Why thank you. I am handsome you know." Ratch looked at him.
Berrypaw rolled his eyes at him, not turning back and didn't return to him.
