  • Okay :3 TIMESKIP

Carol scanned the area around her. "There!" She pointed in the direction of the edge of a forest near a river with no apparent hostile or human life. They had been traveling for about four/five ish hours, and Carol felt ready to collapse; her wings and arms were sore. Fragment seemed to be getting heavier, but that was probably Carol's arms complaining to herself.

  • (Omg look at the tags XD)

Fragment was every bit as tired as Carol, but she was proud. Flying for several hours straight was an achievement. Once her feet touched solid ground, she fell forward, tucking herself into a neat roll to avoid injuring herself; she was too tired to stand.

  • OOC: *cough* totally not me :)

IC: Carol heaved Fragment upright. "Just a few steps." She said encouragingly. "Let's at least get over there." She pointed to an area near the trees and bushes. "We need a bit of cover."

  • Fragment nodded, leaning heavily on a tree. She folded her wing and turned look back the way they had come. The empty feeling only increased as she longed to go back.

  • Carol cocked her head, trying to piece together what Fragment meant, but she was really exhausted, not quite 'at her finest'. "Uh dur?" Carol said, then facepalmed, blushing with embarrassment. "Um, I mean what do you mean?" Carol spoke too quickly, trying to push aside her embarrassment.

  • Fragment turned, startled. "Oh, er, nothing, really..." she amended hastily, using hand gestures to assure Carol she meant nothing by it. "Anyway, what was that thing from earlier? That was attacking Alyssa?"

  • "I think it was a vampire." Carol shivered. "Those things are creepy. Anyways, we have a few hours of daylight left." Carol gauged. "So we'll be safe at least until then, then we can take turns taking watches."

  • "Oh," Fragment replied simply. She didn't know what a vampire was, but she had a feeling it was something to avoid. "If we're looking for a covered spot, we don't want to be near overhangs, cliffs, outcrops, ravines... things like that. They're easy places to get ambushed from, because you don't have an escape route." She didn't explain how she knew this, and hoped they wouldn't ask.

  • "Yeah." Carol agreed. "We could use this tree-sheltered area, I don't want to go to far into the forest, so we can avoid predators; but there are quite a few escape routes."

  • "I don't know what kind of things we'll be looking for, but maybe we should stay somewhat near a clearing so that we can monitor the skies," she added.

  • Alex landed softly, looking around. He noted that the others went towards the forest, and he didn't feel like following them. He walked to the direct edge of the cliff and sat down, his legs dangling over the edge. He sighed softly to himself resting his head on his hands. He stretched, before laying down, looking up at the sky, the waves and the wind making him yawn softly.

  • "Okay." Carol agreed. She looked up at Alex. He can come down when/if he wants to. She decided. I have to stop feeling like I'm responsible for everyone.

  • Alex slowly stood up, and stretched. He then started walking over to the others, he looked down nervously, seeing one of them look at him. He soon stopped next to the two. "Hi...my name is....is Alex." Alex told her.

  • "Hi Alex!" Fragment said brightly, remembering their talk earlier. It looked as though he'd flown away, but apparently he didn't. She supposed that was good news, because of strength in numbers.
